Ahm, I have a silly question.....
I have a stock transformer with an old firmware. I never become an OTA for this.
Now I've seen on ASUS page the latests Firmware files.
But how can I apply this?
Is it just unpacking, picking the ASUS Folder to the root of the SD Card, going to stock recovery (how?) and flash it (how?)
Maybe it sounds dumb, but I'm really happy that my device isn't died and it's running again since flashing with nvflash.
Thank you!
You just copy the zip file to your micro sd and then if I'm not mistaken you press the software update button in the settings menu...hopefully it works, if not try opening it from the file manager
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
when you put the zip in the storage (named as it was when you downloaded it) the TF101 should prompt you for an update available; just try
Wait... Only download, then put it to the root of internal storage (not sd) is the only thing I have to do?? No unzipping, no sd..?
Oh well...
Send from my iphone5s
You have to unzip the downloaded file one time. So you have to use the incuded zipfile.
Did you also try search for updates in de settings menu ?

So i've been looking all over the development forum.. and i can't find any instructions to install a rom, the only so-called instructions i found was "Use xRecovery" herp derp.. =/
I have the "2.3.2 CM Legend 31 v0.3" one
I have everything working, Root explorer.. xrecovery.. BusyBox
absolutely everything, i tried extracting the cm7-0.3.rar and compressing it into an update.zip for it to work on xRecovery, but it still wont work.
The files inside the rom are: system.img, cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5.
This is what it shows when i try to install it
-- Install from SD card...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing Update...
And then it quickly closes and goes back to the main menu..
Any help would be appreciated.

you need to follow these instructions-
1. Extract the downloaded ROM.
2. Ensure there are 4 files in a folder(name it as you wish, or you can simply take the extracted folder!).
3. Make a folder in your SD card with name "xrecovery"(without quotes)
4. Make a sub-folder "backup"(without quotes)
5. Place the folder in the backup folder( /sdcard/xrecovery/backup)
6. Boot into xRecovery.
7. Goto Backup and Restore.
8. Goto Restore.
9. There you will see your folder name.
10. Just select and press Yes.
Done!
Cheers!

why yes i did, EPIC FAIL.. lol
I assume im going to need to put my official ROM on the SD card again with a memory reader?
EDIT: Disregard that.. used flashtool to go back to 1.6, no problems now.
i installed 2.3.2 CM Legend 31 v0.3 and it works ok for me.
after a while, it says "Login to Google Talk failed, check if you have chat
available"
i know this is not the problem of this rom.
i google the message, and find other roms may have the same problem.
but this message is annoying.
dose anyone know the solution??
thank you for my bad english.
OK I just downloaded the official uk 3.1 update from the Asus site, can I just update straight to that without having to go back to 3.0?
If i can then what's the best way to do it?

You can try using the recovery method used to flash the leaked US 3.1 ROM. It should work in the same way.
Tried that and I just get the android guy with the exclamation sign.

I had problems switching from US back to WW. I tried renaming the WW ROM I was trying to install so it had US in the filename - that meant the TF now noticed it, but then wouldn't install it. (Got the Android with ! on his chest error.)
Then I copied the zip to the root of the SD card and renamed it to TF101_SDUPDATE.zip (as per instruction to install the leaked ROM) and rebooted with volume down button pressed - that worked. It seems that's the "magic filename" to force an install ignoring location.

- the file from asus website is called: UpdateLauncher_WW_epaduser8445.zip
- Open this file with a zip program like winzip or 7zip
- you'll see a zip file inside under some folders called \ASUS\Update\
- extract the file called WW_epad-user-8.4.4.5.zip and rename that to EP101_SDUPDATE.ZIP
- stick EP101_SDUPDATE.ZIP at root of your external sd card and reboot and do the toggle up/down etc....

Ok so I used superoneclick to root my ladies u8800-51. Wow simple as ever coming from HTC let me say. Going to install the CWM recovery.img to it, screen was purple/Red. I accidentally renamed the folder that was there instead of just the original recovery image. So questions... What was the folders original name? now no recovery is coming up just a blue screen.. HElp me get her phone going again so i can flash some ROMS
The recovery.img is in .cust_backup\image at least in my u8800

So it having different colors n not going into recovery might b an issue right ? I might have not done something right even though I read instructions 4x n all. Lol my girl is now complaining she can't play candy crush either on it. Like I said huawei is odd n weird to me.

You had overwrite file recovery.img, no rename the folder. You are weird, no Huawei.
Now you have bricked phone.
You can try connect phone in bluescreen to pc, maybe you can see partitions.
If your phone is still visible as usb mass storage, rename the folder to "image". There will be only one folder in that partition.

So me seeing partitions. What can be done from there ? How do I complete root from here

You just haven't the recovery mode(for this the blue image). This doesn't mean that the phone isn't rooted. There are 2 separate things. You can use a file explorer with root option(e.g ES file explorer), to go the the "image" folder in which are all the system images(recovery.img, boot.img etc). The path is /.cust_backup/image and in this folder you will find the recovery.img. Probably this image haven't a different name or extension. It must be recovery.img, otherwise the system doesn't recognize it. To make changes in this folder you must previously mount it as Read/Write(is Read only by default). For this you can use Remount application(you can find it on google play), and then you can from ES file explorer(or any other root file manager) to rename the file or replace and whatever you want.
This is one from several ways. You can also boot again in pink screen mode and do these changes(without the need of remounting) from pc file explorer. You can also do something similar as the first way from pc via adb.

No...
Just hold +/- plus power buttons when the phone is off
Connect to computer and drag recovery.img to the folder
if it asks, overwrite.
Out of curiousity, what guide are you following?
So im trying to install the new BO5 update but when it finishes downloading if i click on update it will just go back to the settings without doing nothing. What should i do? i currently dont have an sdcard to the manual install
Download it from here: http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=9824F5AD299B49D8A2EE4227CFB0DB8A
Put it on internal sd card and click check for updates. You must unzip it first I think
Or this link: http://dl1.ztems.com/zxmdmp/downloa...es/HK/ZTE/ZTE A2017G/372555/fota_B16MR_B18.up
Download, rename to update.zip and place it in your phone.
i tryed but it keeps on update(0sec) and even if i click there it does nothing

In the zip is a folder and in this folder is the update.zip. Save the update.zip to the SD card. Then go to the settings of the phone and select Updates and the update appears and can be installed.

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to comply update to my device using the B32 firmware downloaded on ZTE USA Support site. The file is large, too large for FAT32, at 5.39GB.
I have tried copying it using android transfer on my mac, ejecting the microSD and using a regular SD adapter and copying it that way, and I have also tried just downloading right from the Software Update screen. The first two methods errored with (https://ibb.co/kjh4yG).
The software update fails with a message explaining that the firmware found and downloaded by the phone does not match the device...?
I have been on the old firmware for what feels like a year now. I'm hoping you all can shed some light on this.
Thanks

You have two ways to do this:
-If your internet is decent enough just forget about the SD card and download the update on your phone. Afterwards, download 'RAR' from the play store, find the downloaded file (in Downloads), and open the zip file. If you find a PDF and a file called 'update.zip' inside, simply select it and unzip it to the root of your sd card (put '/storage/emulated/0/ on the Destination path). So you will have an 'update.zip' file there. You don't need to unzip this one. Now go to Settings, Updates, then let it scan and it should find the file, update and voila
-Format your SD Card to exfat and pop the file right in
It's weird that the update file is that huge, since usually files for the A2017G are around 2.1 gigs
It worked my friend!!!
I installed RAR, then went inside the downloaded file, found update.zip and unzipped it to '/storage/emulated/0. Did not find any PDF file though, not sure what that would have been for..? Anyway, saw the MiFavor firmware update screen which meant we were on our way to finish line. After that it booted to a small tiny linux penguin symbol and black background. Tried rebooting by holding down the power button. Rebooted. Saw penguin again for like 5 seconds, then booted straight to the axon wavy weird startup sequence. I DID IT!! I really appreciate the help on this one. Great idea. And it worked flawlessly.
Thank you. Choose an username.. Your username might be strange but your solutions are a lifesaver.

Lol. The signup dialog said 'Choose an username...', so i said, why not?
I think you downloaded directly the update.zip. Maybe the RAR part wasn't needed, I dunno. If there's a folder somewhere there called 'update' then just delete it, and the update.zip too
A larger than 5Gb update would have to be the file fully unzipped into a folder structure.
Update files are zipped and that's what the phone wants.

I downloaded one of the two raw zips from the ZTE USA site that had a very long name.zip with all numbers. The "update.zip" was nestled inside after unzipping the file on the phone. I just picked that file and moved it to ther root and applied the update. It went through successfully. Did i not apply it correctly? Should i have just renamed that whole file to "update.zip" and moved the entire folder? A little confused. But i imagine if the update took and i saw the 32 in the current build of the device it took. But im not sure.

Nah that's okay. I thought you downloaded the 'update.zip' directly. Happens sometimes
It’s weird the update was only about 2 GB. What do you think was the rest of the file?
Maybe in case it needed the full firmware. In this case it didn’t probably. Just a guess

No, that doesn't make sense. No idea really.
It couldn't have gone wrong so don't stress out. Your phone works. If it didn't work then yeah, something was wrong...
