Sounds like this must be your first android bro??? Because just about everything you've mentioned can be fixed/modded in minutes.

Yeah, seems like you should just go back to the safety of your locked down little iPhone. We all know the stock stuff sucks. Flash cm7/cm9 and then tell me you don't like android

Everything you say I don't second 100%.
The Samsung kies is a Jock I agree but ITunes is the Jail.
However one thing is true, after so many years Android still behaves as a beta OS on my $770 device, its my first Android and I'm absolutely disappointed with it, yesterday I had to create a new contact, it took over six seconds to just open the application, was so embarrassing in front of the guy.
The multitasking is not well implemented either, the Chess application closed itself while I was surfing the net with the browser, this would never happen on my WM HD2 with a much lesser RAM.
My last hope is the promised ICS.
As for the iPhone, I have used it for years, and I don't like its complete dependency on ITunes, I could use the Winscp after it was jailbroken but was to much a hassle to use,it just doesn't have the freedom which comes with Android and also which came with WM for that matter.
Now for the last part of your post, and which looks like is one of the main reasons that many of us got the GNote ,hence migrating to Android ,is the GNote itself, specifically its big screen size,I myself am not ashamed to say that it was the sheer size and the hardware specs of the Note which brought me to the Android world , I always preferred the now discontinued WM rather than many Android ROMS which was available for my HD2.
Now for the big question:
Do you think that Apple will ever release a device with a screen measuring over 5", I doubt it, since I won't go back to smaller size anymore.
So, for the smartphone lovers, there is not- the so called -The Perfect hardware/software combination as of yet, but its evolving, and the effort of the great Devs in this forum runs in that direction.
Edit: In the first line (don't) was dropped, so had to correct it.

marvelous idea, knock knock Apple !you can do this at least.

Whenever I encounter such whining, I wonder to myself wtf people have been smoking. I had a 2nd gen iPhone, and after switching to Android, I did not have much issues with my HTC Desire. There were some hiccups, but there was never anything as bad as what the threadstarter claimed. Even with my Galaxy Note, I have yet to encounter random reboots or any strange issues.

What it comes down to is this,i Phones are more user friendly therefore if your not willing or at the least eager to do tweaks to your phone or any sort of major/minor modding iOS is perfect for you. If your more of a techy or at least understand how technology works Android is for you. I equally love both my now sold iPhone 4 and my Note each had it's uses.

My god, that's my quote in your signature.

i am complete android fanboy, but i can understand the frustation of OP or any first time android user. That is why, even though i use android myself, i would not recommend android to regular iphone user, like my wife, or my kids (my 3-year old can immediately operate iphone to search for his game apps and run it successfully after being shown only 1 time, while given android phone, he can successfully crash it almost all the time lol)
We have to admit, there are still rooms for android to grow in terms of user friendliness. But ya, each os has its own strength and weakness. For tinkerer, there's android, and for those who love ease of use, there's ios / iphone.

What I don't understand is why go complain here and even more iPhone fans lurking to jump in the party. It's like just because some almighty iPhone users decided to use Android, now all Android users have to bow to their desire and satisfy their way of doing things.
I don't think Android developers purpose is to make it like iOS to satisfy Apple fans. Its Android and its open (to an extend). You don't like it, try something else, there are choices, or if you can, develop something for it, or simply go back to Microsoft and/or Apple. Otherwise, if you dislike Android so much, no one is forcing you to buy the device in the first place, get a refund.
I can't imagine one would go to an iOS forum and flame iOS and talk about how great Android is, but sadly I guess there are some that do that too. Sadly, there will many more threads like this in the future.
Also, here: forum.iphone-developers.com

i agree with threadstarter to a certain degree. . although a number of the problems you mentioned on your note i dont have. .
but. . . . .
if iphone had a bigger screen i prob would go back as well .. not sure if its a better operating system or just something im used to. . i have been using iphones for over 4 years so obviously I'm partial towards them. .
With that said. . I am going to give android a real shot. . i think it will take a little bit of work effort to really learn to use a new system. .after that I will give judgement . .(i dont think its fair to just a system based on one month against a system i used for 48 months)
There are some def advantages to using an android and some def advantages to using an iphone. .
The iphone operating system is great but has many problems as well . .there is no perfect operating system. . its what suits you best. .

you give a good ans "Alejandrissimo"
Last one is genius.

the biggest complain of apple fans regarding Android can be summed up that way :
"wtf, it's not iOs".
let's not even try to do what you want any other way than stock, if it's not included then it's not good enough, right ?

Wrong perspective. iOS is a mature platform therefore the app developers have had their time with building apps for it. Apps on iphone are slick alright. But Saying that 50% of apps are copies of the ones on iOS is just lame. All app developers have to maintain a standard design of an app irrespective of platforms. Does Facebook on iPhone look different compared to the one on the Droids NO! So the Facebook app on DROIDs is a Copy? uhhh...

Pls convince me not to wait for iPhone 4g

Seriously annoyed with myself right now. Waited for this HD2 for a while now and it JUST became available on my corp website (US-Tmo) - could pick it up now if I wanted.
Of course now I'm considering if I wouldn't want to wait it out for the new iPhone to get announced June 7 and then roll onto my corp plan.
I specifically bought an iPod Touch so I would NOT be tempted to buy an iPhone for the wrong reasons.
But after suffering through 4 Sprint TP1's, and now on a Sprint TP2, I'm less than thrilled - and maybe wondering if I should just give up and go to dark side to get reliable operation. That is my biggest issue - phone is always stuttering and doing stuff I don't want it to - despite the upgrade to Sense 2.5, I still feel like I'm fighting the phone half the time.
I really really like the open source nature of winmo and hate the box Jobs creates around his products, but in my experience with my iTouch - it just works.
I played with the HD2 in the store and while the screen is much better now, I still felt I was trying to convince myself the keyboard and browser were as good as my iTouch - and that's the first sign I guess they're not.
Anyway, have at me - I'm just on the fence now.
EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: I should point out, the only reason I went to the TP2 was Sprint forced me to burn an upgrade as I was "so close" to my 1 yr warranty they wouldn't process another upgrade and staunchly refused to move me to TP2 w/o fee as the famous memo said they should. However, I only upgraded after I was given written proof they will let me out of my contract with no ETF if I'm unhappy for any reason. So I have a get out of jail free card I intend to use as soon as I make up my mind and screw them right back.
Why stop there? Why not wait for the iphone 5g or the HD3?
Get what "you" want!!
You are going to hear how good this phone is!! I love it! But it is not for everyone. If you like easy, stay with what you are used to. No one can decide for you. I researched for months, before it came out. I'm happy with what it is, & has, not what it might be or get!!
ive seen the iphone hype and i dont care
a whole bunch of people dont care about hype, ironically they themselves are a demographic group.
i ordered my hd2 yesterday when my network rang me by suprise 3 months early offering an upgrade.
i guess they knew some pretty new phones were gonna be out (or at least in serious pre-release hype) when my contract expired.
i have an hd1 and just ordered my hd2 (arrives in a few hours ahem) i guess its pretty late in terms of how long the phone has been out, but i was always put off by the screen being too big to be a 'phone' as the hd1 is the maximum size in my opinion. i wanted the hd2 to be exactly what it is now, but the same size as the hd1.
why would you want an iphone anyway?
i have an iphone... i bought it dirt cheap broken it looked like it had been run over. i fixed it and got everything working, even jailbroke it put some apps etc but i never bothered to put it back together because i have a hd.
i actually use my phone. i use contacts, calendar, etc i remote desktop to my main pc. about a hundred other things as well, even though 'theres an app for that' on the ipod wm is just better.
xda... roms... i think youre just having trouble coming to terms with the fact that while iphones are good (dont get me wrong) and the new iphone will be good too, its just not the right phone for you.
thats something i can accept, lots of people feel like they HAVE to prefer the iphone.
basically a guy that doesnt even have his hd2 yet is trying to convince you to go for the phone you want, not the phone that wants to be loved the most (deep psychological implications there lol) so the hd2 must be good. its definately going down in history as an epic phone lol

I think the only really compelling reason to go for an HD2 over an iPhone 4G is the 4.3" screen. The thing is enormous, and while I don't watch movies on the go (the HD2 can't really play HD movies anyway), the screen is just awesome-- every other phone screen now looks tiny to me. I prefer the industrial design on the HD2 to that of the iPhone 3G/3GS (maybe it seems novel because I've never seen a single other HD2 in the wild, whereas everyone and their dog has an iPhone), but the 4G iPhone is pretty sleek, so we'll have to see.
The HD2's capacitive screen is a big step up from old WM phones, but its accuracy is still not quite at iPhone levels, and despite the huge screen and the variety of keyboards available (after experimenting, I generally stick with the HTC one anyway), I still can't type nearly as accurately (and thus quickly) on the HD2 as on the iPhone. I think the main reason is Apple's still-best-in-class autocorrection (HTC's XT9 mode is so bad that I stick with normal entry, which has no autocorrect at all).
Snapdragon makes the HD2 faster than phones like the TP2, but it still has all the usual Windows Mobile problems (lagging, inconsistent behavior, things inexplicably stop working, needing to soft reset, etc.). The CPU is damn fast, so as a result it sometimes does fly, but it goes to waste in WM, which just delivers highly inconsistent performance. As a phone, my 2G iPhone (with a lowly 400 MHz ARM11 CPU) is much more consistent. I can answer every call that comes in on the iPhone without issue, I never have problems sending/receiving emails, etc., which is not quite true for the HD2 (which sometimes has the black screen of death, slows down tremendously, or just plain locks up, requiring a battery pull).
In sum, the HD2 is the greatest WM 6.x phone that will ever be made, but it's still a WM phone. So that means flexibility and customizability, but it also means having to fiddle with regular ROM flashes to get basic things working, a severe lack of third-party applications, and inconsistency throughout. No HD2 ROM is stable, fast, and bug-free to an iPhone-like level, or even anywhere close.
If you want something that "just works," the iPhone is your answer. I just wouldn't spend too much time with an HD2 beforehand though-- the enormous screen may hook you .

Because I have jumped onto what was available at the time thinking that same thing and suffered through a crappy phone for a year and having Sprint completely **** me around over it. It's a complete crapshoot, I know. But I'm just trying to be patient with this and not jump on the HD2 just because it's there now, when we all know the announcement of the iPhone is less than 3 weeks away unless Jobs gets his panties in a knot. Just giving myself options between the two most likely candidates.
I can sum it up for you in 3 words...
"No Flash Support"
End of game...
flexibility <> performance
decide for urself.
but u asked for opinions, so..
a friend is using the iphone OS 4.0 beta3 on his iphone 3gs, for me, it suxx, i really dont like it..
i never recommend an iphone, cause its just a way too expensive for so less things
maybe u could go for android, wich is fast and stable on a device like the desire.. much cheaper and still better hardware than an iphone. i dont think the iphone 4g will get hardware like the desire or hd2 has...
i used everything, winmo, android, iphone..
winmo is really flexible, iphone is very fast without lag, but android got both.. its flexible and fast. maybe u should try this?^^
-1
Pfffff tired of those useless threads ....
if you want one , buy one or wait until it came out ..
But why the hell are you asking a bunch of winmo guys if it is a good choice...
What sort of answer are you looking For ?
to stick to the thread a bit more ....
Wait for 4G ! OR 5G ! or Ngage 4.3 or Nintendo 4DS phone (seems to be great
Sorry i'm not exactly friendly here ....
But .... i'm tired of that ...
To sum up the HD2:
1) One of the most powerful smartphones available.
2) The best chefs on xda cook for it
3) The best programmers develop mods for it (Co0kie's Home Tab etc)
4) Smooth operation
5) Great screen for movies and browsing
6) Overall a fantastic phone
7) You can play StarCraft on it
Yes, you could wait for the next iPhone. Or the HD3. Such is technology, that whatever you buy one day, will always be obsolete the next. Live for the moment, get the HD2, you will not regret it. Even if it doesn't perform exactly as you want in stock (I had practically no problems with stock performance thankfully) just get a custom ROM, make a few tweaks (excellent thread full of tweaks in HD2 General), and it WILL be an excellent phone.
besides talking, what do u use ur phone 4? which one can meet ur requirements as a user?..
Hey ! IT IS SO EASY !!!! BUY BOTH and THEN decide !
I would not by HD2 today. Because of windows. It's even worse since WM6.5 is becoming obsolete. HTC did great job with HD2 in masking WM. It almost seems like different OS. So I'm not entirely unhappy with it.
On the other hand I would not buy anything with smaller display today.
I would not buy any iPhone. Yes, they are cool, well thought out. Really lovely devices. But company policies suck. Also .. it is smaller then HD2.
It seems to me there is only one solution to this: Android.

Yeah, sorry - I forgot to say - Android is a no-no. Our IT dept (multinational, professional services firm so touchy about security) did extensive testing and Android doesn't meet our security requirements. Maybe when they get their **** together. We only just got the iPhone on our plan last year - partly due to cost negotiations, but also initially for security.

They made it bigger, but didn't change anything that would actually help perf. (clarification - I only upgraded as I have written proof they will let me out of contract for free if I'm unhappy for any reason because of how badly treated me on TP1) I'm sure part of the problem is the resistive screen, but tabs often don't scroll smoothly (like laggy as hell) and I end up not where I wanted to be, or have to get there in increments (click one tab, then another to get close enough to see music). That's another thing - wish winmo made someway to always get at music app quickly - can take forever to get back into it. Phone is just often slow - like last night I was trying to get back into mail and the phone just sat there on the home screen with the clock halfway between 11 and 12, obv hanging up for 15-20 secs.
But yeah, it's mostly inputs not working when I touch them, virtual keyboard being completely ****ty for quick entries, hanging, slowing down, making me wait for it. Just not as responsive as I'd like. Again, comparing its operation to my iTouch, just very different.

yes but so does wm. there are stable versions of everything on wm that the iphone does.
you can install many different browsers. many stable and fast.
there are many different keyboards you can install on wm too...
different looks, different layouts, built in functions like copy and paste (by holding a key), shortcuts, numberpads, swipe, commercial ones, freeware, much more flexible. you can even put the iphone keyboard skin on your 'much better' screen of the hd2.
enjoy

Word Lens - iPhone app... I'm jealous!

http://mashable.com/2010/12/17/word-lens/
That is really, really cool.
Could come in handy on my trips to Montreal, although there's plenty of English up there, I will no longer need the English menu at a restaurant!
Hope they create one for Android and also support more languages ( I think just Spanish/English right now )
Aw man... yea thats pretty hot.
Get an Iphone, if you dont want one then wait a little, and like most Iphone apps they will find their way to the fastest growing OS out there right now.
Yea I just hope its not at the slow pace we usually have to wait. There are still some apps that they have on IOS that we dont have yet so I just bought and jailbroke an itouch 4 gen and use my evo as a hotspot. Kinda like with the netflix thing... bad thing about IOS is its just one OS a year... good thing is it makes it a lot easier for devs to code for it without having to make sure its compatible for a lot of different versions.
Hope it get's ported to android
The reason its one OS a year its cause its one phone a year, and that what apples head honcho tries to bad talk Android because of fragmentation, basically meaning so many diff versions of OS's on so many devices that not all android apps are compatible, so he thinks his one device for everybody model is better than Android's choose the right device for you model, Go figure.
Well im pro choice, but in terms of developers from what I see they tend to agree. It's easier for them to make an app that just works for IOS 4 as compared to making an app thats compatible with Android 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. Not to mention they have to take account for things like processor speed, etc. That's one of the main reasons they will pretty much always get the major apps before we do.
I prefer Android as an OS over IOS.. and ive had an iphone before but app wise thats one thing I was kinda spoiled about when I made the switch.
I agree with you, but with now more Android phones out there than OS Im sure devs will work a little harder to get into the bigger market, cause they aint ganna leave all that money out there for someone else to take thats for sure.
Google Goggles does this minus the augmented reality.
Been playing with it and it's pretty cool. Translations are kind of goofy but still okay. Overall a cool app to show off but Goggles is better for actual use.
The app is free but each language pack is going to start at five bucks apiece, then ten bucks after the first of the year.
-Not worth the money-
Google translate does a fine job of translating words, has loads of languages, and it's free. So you don't get the geek factor of taking a pic to get a translation, but typing the characters will always beat OCR accuracy-wise, don't you guys think?
Forget cell phones, I want to see this built into a pair of glasses.

iOS outnumbers Android by something like 5:1. Even if you do only phones it's like 3:1, Android has marginally surpassed the iPhone in sales per month but the iPhone (not mention iTouch/iPad) has a massive install base.

this assumes there are no people out there with older iPhones. except there are. and sometimes apps for the new version won't work for them.
I tried the goggles thing and its nowhere near as useful as this. Not even close.

Best advice is to go into a phone shop and have a play around with the demo devices and see what you like. There are loads of phones especially from HTC who seem to be releasing a new phone every week.
Galaxy Note or Nexus. Xperia ones are nice. But I dont trust Sony Ericsson..
Galaxy Nexus! After all its pure Google phone
If you want something different you should consider the Nokia N9. I've only tried it briefly in shop, but my god it's gorgeous.

You don't need a phone, then! You need something different! Any other phone is going to be just too simmilar to your SGS2 (which I think you should seriously reconsider fixing). Try an Open Pandora (Google it! I can't post links!), it's the closest coolest thing I can think of!
Just go buy an iPhone. You're asking if there's a better alternative to one of the best Android phones around? pfffft....our phone is a software upgrade away from being a better phone than a galaxy nexus (apart from that massive screen ofc...).
I personally think after windows 8 is released and the windows 8 tablets start flooding the market with metro ui windows phone is going to get a lot more popular too as a result. I'm waiting to see what happens but I might make the switch.
Right now i would not recommend anything for android. If you want a whole new experience, try WP7 or meego.

+1 to this.
In fact I am eying for WP 7 or furthers as my future OS. I like Microsoft and their work. If everything goes well WP will be the mostly used and popular OS within next 3-4 years.
For me it would be the Galaxy Note, it does everything the G-Nexus does, but better. All it needs is ICS. Personally I think the 5" screen is great, especially for films which I already use my GS2 for a lot.

I agree that Mango is the best mobile OS right now, but I'm not planning to replace my SGS2 any time soon. The fact is that the android ecosystem is just a lot stronger right now, everything from ROM development to app choices. ICS also looks like it makes some important strides from a quality-of-OS standpoint (though I have yet to put my hands on a Galaxy Nexus myself), so hopefully in a few months we'll see those benefits rolled into our GS2s.
I hope you're right and Windows Phone has greater traction in 3-4 years, and if it keeps going the way it's going, I may buy a windows handset in a couple years. Microsoft is still awful at marketing, though, and if average smartphone buyers know that there is something besides iPhone available, they probably have only heard of android, or maybe knew some guy who hated Windows Mobile five years ago. They've got a lot of hurdles to clear; we'll see how it goes.
To the OP: This has probably already been said to death, but the only GSM android phone that can be argued to be better than the SGS2 is the Galaxy Nexus right now. If you just want something different, I know a lot of people who like the RAZR, or you could always go for the monster of a phone that is the Note.
Having owned a nexus (ok only for a few days) i would say that the SGS2 is the better phone. Yes the Nexus has ICS and a nice screen but you are limited with Flash (ok it will come), no radio and mainly storage. I just cant live with non expandable phones with only 16gb on board. Maybe in a few months if and when the 32gb version of the nexus comes along and they have fixed flash but not now.
As shr33kant said, the SGS2 is one update (ICS) away from being a totally better phone than the Nexus.
Maybe the Note is the way forward. I have been toying with the idea myself. The screen would be massive for Video. And by the way i didnt really see / feel a difference in screen size between the SGS2 and Nexus, not sure why i didnt but i didnt.
Hope this helps.
Either the SGN or the Razr. I'd go for the latter if i were you, it seems so durable and premium...

Would You Consider an IPhone....

To start with,I'm not even sure if it is right to have this kind of post....
but for my curiosity,I would love to know your opinion on this one.
I bet most of us have been with android system for quite a while and have used and Iphone or least try em'....
And after all the happiness and sadness you gone through an android,
Would You Consider Switching Back/Change To an IPhone?
And I for one, will never look back...
No No No No
never...

Funny as I was checking on replies for this thread,I am also right in the middle of an article from yahoo news saying that Blackberry is dying a slow painful death(kind of,they just didn't shout it out loud to Bb's)
I've never used an iPhone long enough to actually make a comparison, i do love the smoothness of iOS but the idea of getting stuck with iTunes turns me off. I've read that ICS will have hardware acceleration, so the smoothness may be solved as soon as ICS is ported to x10 through CM9, MIUI etc.
the other thing that used to attract me was the enourmous game library, but lately nearly every game i hear about on iOS gets an Android port so, i'm ok with that.
an idiotphone? No, never, you just sent a shiver down my back thinking about it
I'd never use an iPhone, NEVER.
you have to go through a whole lot of trouble to stay up to date with an iphone, jailbrake, make sure you don't update to an unjailbreakable version, buy the new phone when it comes out 6 months later...
Bleh, my 3 years old X10 is still working perfectly fine with all the latest apps, I can't say the same about an iphone 3G.

Lol although I agree about not wanting an iPhone, this is pretty fallacious as well.
X10 does not at all work "fine with all the latest apps".
stuff that isn't compatible simply doesn't show in the market, believe me there would be about an equal amount of apps you couldn't run on the x10 and iPhone 3g..
I dont hate the apple products but lets say i just prefer the android os.
because IOS is very boring not much customisable
i mean when i flick through my homescreen on x10 i dont get bored ! On iphone there is no widget so really boring homescreens.
let alone the fact no app drawer you can barely see the wallpaper you have set lol...

Maybe not on the Market app on the phone but on the Market website, even from the phone, they do show. And up on the left hand side it says it's not compatible with your [insert phone model here].

No one can deny the smoothness of iOS(i haven't used android 4 still).
At first I loved iOS before i even knew about android. But after using an Android phone I don't think I would go back(unless they do something extraordinary changes in OS ).

To think about this again, back then,I never dislike neither its products, nor the user themselves(now I can say I hate both)...I used to even think that they are a great innovator when they first released an IPhone(even though overpriced).
First,it all started whenever I talk to Apple user,it borings me because everytime we talk about technology, there is none besides what Apple brings to the table(sigh). It would even bothers me when we even discuss about media download, when I say a decent 320kbps mp3 music file is enough for me,they will deny it by saying nothing is acceptable if its not lossless. When I say that a normal BRrip avi file is already more than watchable enough, they will say nothing is like mkv.
And it really sickens me when I say 4 inch screen is nice when I watch youtube on it,they will say,TOO BIG,
when I say a new phone just came out with dual core processor, they will say it is UNNECESSARY,
when I say it is good that now we have a lot of choices for smartphone, they will say FRAGMENTATION.....
And the list goes on.
And to the point I see almost all Apple Users are all F**k Up.I start to notice whoever own one of the IDevices, there is a need for them to flash it public and brag about how cool it is when possible....
And as for Apple Inc.,when they sue Samsung for rounded edges,I think they just wanna protect their rights, but lately it doesn't seem so,it is more like they are all against all the android big boys(Samsung,Htc,Motorola). And they have already stop innovating something that is cool enough to the eyes of the most people and try clinging to the only products that is sell-able for as long as they can.And to do that, they need to take everyone else out by keep suing them.
Latest court case they won against HTC is based on auto-parsing,which whenever you get a phone number via short message, the phone will recognize it,you can dial it from the dial pad straight away....and such thing.I think my 8 years Sony Ericsson P990i can already do that(if not older),such claim is bad for all of us consumer,at least from my point of view.
And recently,Apple file up a case against Samsung again for infringement on about 10 FREAKING PHONE CASING...can you believe that?
I think Apple R&D is already dying...no new products to keep up,and yet they need to make money as much as they can.
And for today,I think Apple should just go to hell...the way I see it I'm not going to buy anything from them and not in the near future....
I wouldn't switch either. I just love playing around with android too much.
That being said, I do use my girlfriends iPhone for games when we are bored. That and for photography because android photo apps just seem sub par sadly.

I've got a 3Gs for as my work phone. I barely touch it. It's running IOS 5.0.1 and it's rendered it mostly unusable. battery life is poultry, phone is laggy & unresponsive as heck, and if i visit a website that requires login or user input to continue, I get stuck in a login screen loop. Add iTunes to this and it's really just a nightmare. We've started setting the partners up with 4S's, and while they are admittedly quite speedy/smooth, itunes still ruins the experience. As well as the boring interface.
I'm not a big fan of the hardware design either. There are much nicer looking phones about.

Would you sell your GS3 for a WP8 phone?

I'm wondering if its worth hanging on to my ATT GSIII phone and starting a whole new 2 year contract or if I should return it and wait for the Windows phone 8 to come out. Personally, I'm bored as hell from iphones and Android just never seems to be quiet there yet. After seeing the demo of WP8, it really got me interested. It basically takes the best of iOS and Android and mixes it all in a fresh new package.
I still got 3 weeks to return mines to the AT&T store, is anyone else here considering switching to a WP8 phone? I'm also interested to see what the new iphone looks like too. One thing that pisses me off about Android are that the iOS apps always look way way better than Android, Google really needs to start putting in some standards with these developers. I still can't play many of the Gameloft and EA games on this phone that I've purchased a while back.
Its all advertisement nothing elsr honestly i feel like wp is a little bit too boring customisation compared to android is no match only reason i stick whit android is because its open source and lot of customisation and so on..

Your call, but you should know that windows phones are pretty locked down/ limited with modification. If that's something you like, then android is best.
I just switched from an iphone to the S3 and I'm not sure I agree with you about the IOS apps looking better. The ones I've used that they both have in common look pretty much the same to me. As a matter of fact, some of the android versions look nicer and have a better user interface.
I have zero interest in the windows phone. Until they can compete with the number and variety of apps available for ios and android, it won't appeal to me at all.
btw, I also have 3 weeks left in my return period and I'm pretty sure I've decided to stick with the S3. Sure it has its bugs and annoyances but so will every phone. The only two things that have kept me from committing 100% to it so far are the battery life problems and the wifi problems. Time will tell.......
I wonder what the new excuse will be when the next version doesn't sell well at all. I believe the old Windows mobile still has more market share. Pretty pathetic.
It's not just Apple and android being entrenched. The os simply sucks comparatively and plenty of people simply do not like metro. Apple has a better walled garden and android has a better large open estate. Microsoft would have done better if they opened all the api and embraced developers. Instead you get a half ass iPhone. GG

Personally, I'm tired of the many modifications, so far I left mines on stock. I've gotten to the point where all that ROM flashing has gotten old and I need to do real work. On my last phone, the HTC Vivid, all I ever did was flash ROM after flash ROM for no good reason, it felt like a damn crack addiction.

I didn't like the Metro on the WP7, but that WP8 looks alot better better because you can resize them, they seem alot like widgets. Also, now you can use a MicroSD card, have dual-core processors, and have larger screens.
M$ seems to get their act straight this time around, they probably got tired of Apple taking their marketshare.
Metro is great, but having been burned by WebOS, I'd wait a year or two to see if WP8 takes off before investing in an ecosystem. My bet is they take about 7-8% marketshare and go nowhere from there. But who knows.
I think I'd take stock Jelly Bean over WP8 though.
There's a Windows style launcher on the market.

I don't think it makes sense to ask others to a judgement call for you. Especially on an Android forum.
Re: iPhone and Android "not being quite there"—you do realize that's exactly what every reviewer says about Windows Phone 7?
Windows Phone 8 is a rewrite so I would not have high hopes for the first generation of phones. Also, the demos are made to impress. You should take them with a grain of salt.
Are you kidding me? I had to revert to an HD7 WP7 phone when I killed my Galaxy II two weeks before the Galaxy III launch and for those two weeks I wanted to stick sharp objects into my eye.
Pretty much any app worth having in WP7 costs $$$. The GPS/Nav sucks, searches are done with Bing and dealing with a corporate email account with multiple folders is just about the worst email experience ever on that phone.
I'm done experimenting with WP versions - go ahead and try WP8 when it comes out but Android seems to be a better, more open, more tweakable, more dev friendly ecosystem and I'll stay here...
Don't count Microsoft out. WP7 is a great OS.
I find the question odd seeing as the OS isn't out yet with it's new hardware. But having used WP7 I know that's it's going to be a great update. WP7 is a great OS, and while the phones might be under powered compared to apple and android phones, they still hold their own which says a lot about the optimization of the OS. Kudos to Microsoft for that. The only detracting thing is the apps, but with the new Windows 8 using Metro apps, I can easily see WP8 giving android and ios a run for their money.
While, i dont see myself standing in line for a Windows mobile device. I do enjoy the fact knowing that it will be another direction away from IOS...:good:
I am in agreement with you. We are not in need of another company hell bent on controlling us. For crying out loud why don't these company's see or understand this? I am partial towards Android. I don't mind Apple to much. Well with the exception of the whole let's sue everyone and there mother's attitude. That part pissed me off to no end. And I do hope it turns around and bites them in the ass. I do hope the never go anywhere. Because as much as I do like Android, I like the fact that Android has competition. Google is big enough and has enough money that if all competition were gone. They might just try to pull some Apple/Microsoft crap. I do think that Google and Apple are to hig as is. Just like our governments. And Microsoft is big also. But in a different way. They are like tha big dopey kid on the block. You know, the one that would like to make you his hitch but is to stupid and slow to do so? Lol!

I was like that with my HTC inspire and not so bad with my GSII. Flashed a new one every day or so. It was awful I had to try them all. I'm keeping my GSIII stock for now too. You can customize plenty through market
My bf had WP7 and it was awful. Looked nice but just wasn't practical he hated it, NEVER worked right. He had 4 within the firsts few weeks from button issues(however that was HTC issue)
Windows phones are fast and stable. I used the Samsung focus on mango for several months and I was sold on wp7. Not one single force close or lag. However, my HTC Titan had serious mic issues so I returned it and ended up with my galaxy skyrocket. I do like having the ability to customize with android, and I think the SIII would be worth the contract. The SIII will hold its value and if you decide to go wp8, just eBay or Craigslist your SIII when that time comes. I myself want the SIII but waiting for the right deal.

I'm done experimenting with WP versions - go ahead and try WP8 when it comes out but Android seems to be a better, more open, more tweakable, more dev friendly ecosystem and I'll stay here...

gps does not suck. I found it every bit as good as android if not better.

Google Maps is immeasurably better than Bing Maps.
