Does anyone know if its possible to root and install custom roms on the x5 without using a usb cable? My mini usb port is physically broken so I cant use a usb cable to connect to my pc. I've got stock Gingerbread 518 installed currently.
Thanks for any help.
You can't do it without a usb cable.
Anyone else having this issue? My Tab 4 7.0 does not recognize any peripheral plugged into it using the OTG cable. I've tried a mouse, keyboard and both a powered external HDD and unpowered usb thumb drive. These peripherals do work with my Note 2 so I know it's not the cable.
Kernel limitation
Hi, I have a SM-T230 and I tried to plug flash drives and HD and nothing works. I think this is a kernel limitation and flash a new kernel will resolve this problem, but I dont know which kernel is compatible.
I think a custom kernel on the 7.0 is impossible, it has what is suspected a combination recovery/kernel, as found by chainfire

can anyone help me with USB otg
i tried but it doesnt work
You need otg y cable and otg compatible kernel nonstock
Hello,
First of all Nice to meet You !!
Lastly I rooted my p9 lite and activated USB OTG. It is possible to plug in pendrive mouse etc and it works fine :good: .
The problem is that I cannot make my portable DAC xDuoo XD05 working with P9 Lite. I tired everything.
When I plug it in there is no reaction I tired different usb option /cables - no result. Apps like USB AUDIO PLAYER give notification that android did not find any devices and probably my device does not support USB host mode. I'm asking You for help as I am totally disoriented what can be done as I'm not expert for sure.. to make a use of DAC / USB AUDIO option.
HUAWEI VNS-L21
EMUI 4.1.1
Android 6.0
This DAC xDuoo XD05 is connected by usb OTG right? The phone may not have the driver to support the DAC, it happens with a lot of device if the phone does not have native usb OTG support.

Hello,
Yes exactly it is connected by usb otg. Maybe it is possible to get and install driver or any other way to make it working? I saw on the forum similiar cases for other phones so I just wonedring if it is possible to make it working on p 9 lite
I don't think it's possible to manually install drivers. Some kernel and custom ROMs are build with every driver available in the kernel source. You may try Veno Kernel but they said that it is not very stable on EMUI.

Ok I will try it. But firstly I need to find some instruction how to do it thx
Take a backup of boot partition on TWRP and flash the zip that you can find in the ROMs&Kernel section of Veno Kernel. If something does not work good you can restore the backup
I have error while flashing unsupported device
I think it's because you are on EMUI 4, it is still not fully supported.
I'm still looking for solution so if anyone has any ideas please share with me
Hello,
Finally I found solution.
I connected Xduoo via usb hub to my p9 lite. Usb audio player pro found my device and it works perfectly now. Please share this tip to anyone having similar issue.
Nice!

Hi,
I buyed today an thernet usb c otg cable for my phone but it didn't work, later I've seen that oxygen os does not support ethernet but every other otg cable but if I flash a custom Rom like Havoc OS or any other Os will ethernet then work? I already tried some custom Kernels and my ethernet cable works on every other phone too without any drivers.
Thank you for your help.
I'm running OxygenOS 9.5.8 GM21AA on a OnePlus 7 Pro, rooted. With the right USB-A to USB-C OTG cable (e.g. the Amazon Basic), with Wi-Fi disabled and cellular in Airplane mode, the "Create j5 USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet" adapter (Model JUE 130) works perfectly. Speedtests identically with my computer. A "Plugable USB3.0" adapter (Model USB3-E1000) did NOT work, whereas a "Plugable USB2.0" adapter (Model USB2-E1000) DID work. So I guess the internal circuitry of the adapter matters greatly.
