if you mean reflashing from beginning you must do a 'factory reset-erase data' from AD RECOVERY.

Hi,
Repartition according to ROM requirements.(via number 5 usb flasher)
Then go to ad recovery and wipe data, cache partition, and dalvik(advanced).
Then go to install zip from sd card
Choose zip from sd card (which you should have placed on the root of your sd card, using a card reader)
After installation,reboot.
Give it time.
Some ROMS take 15-20 minutes to install.
So I tried what you guys told me and none of those work :/
I partitioned the sd to 1024 mb and 64 mb cache and still no go .... I am clueless tried couple roms always same thing

I have been pulling my freakin' hair out for the last three days trying to get CWM on my phone.
I am a noob and I don't understand a lot of the lingo and terminology used on this forum. Some nice folks have tried to help and I am grateful; but I guess they think I understand more than what I actually do. I admit I am ignorant. And it's very frustrating!!!!!
I need a simple, easy to understand, step-by-step instructions on how to install/flash CWM on my phone from HD2 Android NAND Toolkit.
I did a Wipe (Type 29) and successfully installed HSPL 2.08, MAGLDR v1.13 and a RADIO but I just can't get CWM on my phone.
Can someone please help!!!!!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987531 everything you need to know. follow the instructions. You flash cwm, from USB flasher in mgldr.
?????????????????????
I've been to that thread a thousand times and it's absolutely no help at all. It makes no mention of how to do it through HD2 Android NAND Toolkit. As I said, I am a noob. I really need more detailed instructions. Thanks for trying to help.
How to Flash CWM
Ok, I would recommend cLK instead of magldr.
I am going to begin from he beginning.
To begin with you need to open the HD2 Toolkit program.
Click the Download Drivers icon in the lower right corner.
Download the drivers, and zip them to the desktop.
These will come in later.
Okay, now your ready to start.
Step 1. Power off your phone.
Step 2. Hold the Volume Down Button and press the End (red) key once.
Continue holding until a multi colored screen appears.
Step 3. Plug in your USB cord to your phone. At the bottom of your Phone it should say SERIAL until your USB is connected. Once USB is connected it should say USB at the bottom.
Step 4. Click the Wipe(Task29) button, right corner, and follow through the steps.
Step 5. Once the wip has finished, your phone will be partially booted. Now we need to power down, so pull out the battery, and unplug the USB.
Step 6. Replace the battery.
Step 7. Now again we need the tri-colored screen. So hold volume down and press the end (red) key
Step 8. Once the tri-colored screen appears, let off the buttons and replug the USB cord.
Step 9. On the HD2 Toolkit up at the top click cLK Reparition.
Step 10. One the right their is a column that says Choose System Partition Size (cLK) click what size you want.
Step 11. Below the column is the cache size, their is two options. Pick one. I usually use 5.
Step 12. Now your ready to install cLK. On the left bottom side of HD2 Toolkit it says Functions, with a few options. Click repartition, and go trhough the steps on the screen.
Once this is completed your phone will boot into cLK.
Windows 7 computers do not come installed with this interface installed, and it isn't located on Windows update.
Your computer should bring up an option to install Drivers. When it prompts you, locate the google adb drivers on your Desktop. This should install fastboot so that your Phone works.
Step 13. Once the drivers are installed. The phone (when connected via USB) should say Fastboot: Processing Commands
Step 14. At the top of HD2 Toolkit click the cLK Install Recovery
Step 15. At the bottom of HD2 Toolkit where it says Functions, it will now say install. Click install.
Step 16. When a Radio box appears say their is two methods of installing cLK. Click yes you are in Fastboot mode.
Step 17. A command prompt box will appear. Just hit enter each time an option is given (three times.)
Step 18. After the third time you hit enter, your phone will begin rebooting.
Press and hold the home key when your phone begins to turn on. After about two seconds CWM Recovery will appear.

Here is the procedure I followed to get from WinMo to NAND:

Guys,
This is my first post. I see already a thread about this ROM: NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.3 (Kernel: tytung_HWA_r3), but there are 501 pages in this thread. I have gone through some pages of these and have downloaded the ROM and clk_1.4.0.1_XXX.rar files based on different partitions, HD2 TookKit 4.2.0.1, Google Android drivers. Is there anything i need to download? I have been running the Windows Mobile 6.5 on my T-Mobile HD2 and would like to upgrade it to the above mentioned ROM. I would like to know if there are any step by step instructions in a PDF format that would explain me what needs to be done first , next , so-on. Any problems/issues that i need to be aware of. My software versions are Manila-25.20181424.0, ROM:3.14.531.1(04666) WWE, Radio Version-2.15.50.14. Any help would be appreciated.
Download the HSPL 4 (Google it, and click the thread from pocketpc.ch) Download the attachment there. Open the ZIP File, and run the HSPL4.exe . If it recognized your phone, select HSPL 2.08 (not the .00-one). For recognizing the phone, go to the Tri-Color screen. To get to this, power off your phone and press the Vol-Down Key and the power-key ,till you see the Tri-Color Screen. Then you can continue with the Task29 (after you flashed the HSPL) (If you don't have the Driver, it will try to install "Qualcomm CDMA-Technologies Driver". When you run Windows Vista/Windows 7, then open the window with the device installation from your tray, and go to the options and let Windows Update install the driver. Windows Update will install it.)
Then, in the HD2 Toolkit, choose cLK Repartition in the top of the window. Choose the Cache Size of 5 MB on the RIGHT side. If there is a system partition size of 170 MB recommended, choose 170 MB, if this is not in the list, choose the next bigger one. It will also work.
Now, if it's flashed, power down the phone, and then press the Return-Button and the Power-button. Now you'll see some lines there. If they are there, connect your phone to the PC. It will try to install a device, named "Android" If this appears, go to manually install the driver, and then choose the path, where you extracted the Google Drivers 4.X.
Now you're ready to install the recovery for the cLK Loader. For this, open the HD2-Toolkit again, and now, in the top bar, choose the Point "cLK Install Recovery." Now, on the bottom left, you'll see "Install" click it, and a command prompt with a text appears. Press the enter-button on the PC, to get to the next text. Press enter again. If you installed the drivers already, you'll see something like "sending <recovery.img>, and when it finishes, there is a text again, that tells you, to press any key to reboot the phone and get back to the HD2 Toolkit. Press enter, and press Home FAST.
If you see the recovery, make the Factory Reset and the Cache wipe.
Now you're ready to install this ROM.

You do not have to use HSPL @.08 with clk like you do with MAGLDR. You can use a higher HSPL if you want.
HI all, thank you for your time.
I recently inherited a htc hd2 that has android 2.3.4 on it, model T8585 baseband ver maui.11amd.w11.19.sp.v1, 2011/06/23 00:50. kernel 2.6.35.7. build number 10hx2p.h3.111121.ad2_3_4_v1.wvgac_cn.com_v01_3g.
I don't know what any of that means but for 3 days I have been trying to put ICS on my phone but cant get any of the apps to connect to the phone via usb, htc sync, win mod sync, no rom apps connect, moborobo will connect, and accessing the sd works but that is all.
I do not have clockwork recovery and can not install, my recovery program is <3e>.
even though android is running on the phone it will not allow root access.
I have downloaded and installed all the java and sdk stuff, could not manualy install usb connection drivers, my os is win 7 64.
I am going mad, every turn seems to be a brick wall, but not a brick phone yet, please help!
don't worry
Hi dj,
well it sounds like the most important stuff should be on your phone. However, I'm missing the following information:
Do you have magldr or CLK installed?
To find out, do the following:
Turn on your phone (with the hangup-key), right after feeling the bootup vibration press and hold the hangup-key again.
If you have a working magldr or CLK installed it should show up now.
The version is also important, my MAGLDR is version "1.13".
Tell me what your phone has installed please and I'll try to help more.

thanks for the quick reply, no I can not install that stuff, when I go into recovery mode it is <3e> recovery not clockwork, I can not install them because my phone does not seem to support native usb, I have tryed to install them from the sd card, I have tryed to install CLK from the app at the google download store, nothing works, I have red that i should roll back rom to win but cant to that without htc or other sync working, I have read roll recovery back to <2e> using the sd card but cant do that, I cant even root the phone because everything requires that a usb sync work or that CLK already be on, I;m going round in circles.

okay, I don't know if I get you right? You have android on your HD2 but you don't have MAGLDR or CLK (those are bootloaders, not recoveries)?
Magldr looks like this: http://www7.pic-upload.de/17.02.11/n35i2xpo9mg.jpg
And you enter it this way (if you should have it): pull out battery -> put back in -> press and hold the power key until you see the magldr screen (takes maybe 5 seconds).
My problem is that I'm not sure how your phone is setup. Please try to clarify.
If you have or had a working android on your phone, I'm pretty sure that you also have MAGLDR or CLK installed.
However... if you don't have it yet please download the HD2-Toolkit from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19931919&postcount=50
Thats a good tool to install either: magldr or clk. And once you have it I'll try to help you with that.

I do appreciate your help, I had already installed the toolkit but it will not connect to the phone(no pc based "phone hacking"software will connect to the phone. the usb works fine only to access the sd card, moborobo will synch with phone but nothing else.
when i hold vol down and on, the phone boots into <3e> recovery, <3e> is not an emoticon, it is the name of the recovery app the phone boots into, not any clockwork, magldr thing.
I think I could sort it all out one way or another if I could flammin ROOT! my phone, but all the methods I have found involve using a sync program that i cant use because they will not communicate with the phone.
I know it seems strange that a windows phone has android on it without being rooted or having other stuff going on, but I assure you this is the case.
I'm obviously missing something but I don't know what it is??? I's there a way to root the thing from the sd card, or is there a hidden box that i just have to check to access the root? I'm lost bro http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/eek.gif
PLEASE DON'T follow those steps. As Nigeldg pointed out: there are incorrectnesses in my post!
Follow this link instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830
Okay, I think I kinda get where you're stuck at.
Here is what I think I would do, just out of my memory:
- Install the Toolkit again. Start program and in there download the drivers (button in the right corner) and install them properly.
- Boot phone and press down the volume down key (exactly like this: click on power button, release power button, hold volume down and keep holding), to get into three color screen.
- Connect your phone via usb and wait until it says USB on the phone (instead of serial)
- if it should not switch to USB, your Windows does not connect to your phone, because of a driver problem (maybe you have to reboot your pc once?!)
- start your toolkit
- press Wipe (Task 29) --> this will erase everything on your phones NAND
- follow instructions
- next press install HSPL
- follow instructions
- reboot phone
- press Install MAGLDR
- follow instructions
- boot phone and keep holding the power button until you see the MAGLDR menu
- move down to "5. USB Flasher" (with volume down)
- press call button to enter
- wait until it says USB....USB
- in the Toolkit, on the left side choose your partition size (my suggestion 200mb main and 45 cache)
- press repartition
- follow instructions
- reboot phone into MAGLDR again and move down to "8. AD Recovery"
- press call button to enter
- move down to mounts and storage
- press call button to enter
- mount USB-Storage (your sd-ccard)
- your computer should show your SD-Card
- download your favorite ROM and move the .zip to the SD-Card
- back on your phone unmount USB-Storage
- go back with back button
- move down to "install ZIP from SDcard" and choose the desired zip file
- follow the installer and reboot into MAGLDR afterwards
- in MAGLDR move down to "10. Services"
- press call button to enter
- and press call button again on "1. Bootsettings"
- and again on "1. Boot Source"
- then move down to "2. Android from NAND"
- and finally press call button to finish this
- Now move cursor to "3. Boot AD NAND" and press call button.
-> Your phone should boot up android and set it up for you, give it some time, even after seeing the login screen.
Reading your last answer, I think your problem is right at the beginning of what I wrote. You can't even get into the 3 color screen?!
If this should not work please tell me at what point of my instructions you are stuck.

@OP, Actually please don't follow that guide. Just reading a few lines shows that:
1. It says to Task29 (never a necessary step)
2. It then says 'install HSPL'. Either HSPL 2.08 is already installed (so this step isn't needed) or you've just messed up your phone by trying to flash Task29 without HSPL
3. It says to repartition with a 200MB system and 45MB cache - you actually repartition as per the ROMs requirements, and 45MB cache is just a waste of space (most ROMs recommend 5, people have flashed as low as 2MB without issue)
4. It says to transfer the ROM to your SD card via CWM, which can cause the .zips to be corrupted. Always transfer via an SD card reader if possible, or within an OS (not MAGLDR or CWM).
5. It says that you have to set the boot settings to AD NAND when you don't
Whilst it's great that you're trying to help people out and write your own guides, don't do so when you're ill-informed and don't really know what you're doing. It's best just to stick with already existing guides.
@OP, try the guide in my sig if you're looking for one which is easy to follow, has clearly outlined steps and is (most importantly) correct.

" Boot phone and press down the volume down key (exactly like this: click on power button, release power button, hold volume down and keep holding), to get into three color screen".
when I follow this step my phone goes into <3e> recovery, not red blue green clockwork, "<3e>" is my recovery, it is a screen with "!" in a triangle and a little android dude.
my recovery does not let me install unsigned stuff so even though I can put things on the sd card, I can not install them from there.
the phone does not sync with any toolkit, install, htc, win, android, or other even though htc, and android drivers are in my device driver list.
my phone is not rooted.
I do appreciate all your help guys, I will keep looking arround the forum, I found some posts about my <3e> recovery and mods so it will allow install of non signs apps, peace.

This may sound silly but always best to check the simple things 1st, do you have windows mobile device center installed?
I am not entirely convinced you have a HD2. you may have a clone.
I'm inclined to believe RobbieP's right. I've never heard of this recovery ever being used on an HD2. You claim that you're not rooted (all of the HD2's ROMs are rooted bar the DFT Stock Desire ROM) and you also say that when you boot up there is an ! in a triangle. None of these things should really be happening on an HD2.
Secondly, you seem to be very confused about your terms. Please read the guide in my sig about that, as if you somehow do have an HD2 then you should be aware of all of those things before flashing.
If possible, could you post some pictures of your phone and also the settings info etc.? It might help in determining if it's a fake.

Yeh, it's installed, but just to be certain, after your question, I reinstalled it, still no good.
Im going to try to root the phone latter, will look around on this forum for a non usb style root.
yeah I suppose it could be fake, I have only seen on forums of Samsung phones using this recovery, It was bought on eBay cheep, when I do a factory reset it goes Asian on me, it looks exactly like the hd2.
As far as getting some terms mixed up, sorry, I had put in a lot of reading and trial and error before asking for help, It's hard to gauge how long to grind away at something before asking for a tip.
I will post some pics of the phone latter
thanks again for all your help guys.

This is the whole method :
Lets get started!
HTC HD2 - Phase 1
The first thing we need to do is get you HTC HD2 running with the latest HSPL4. This is what will allow us to install the modified Android ROMs, or even Windows Phone 7.
Download: HSPL4.zip
Once downloaded, extraxt the HS4PL.exe file somewhere accessible. You’ll be running it shortly.
Step by Step Guide to Install HS4PL:
With phone powered off, press and hold the volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone (while holding down the volume down button)
Your HD2 will load into a “Red, Green, Blue and White” screen bootloader. This is normal.
There you’ll see your current HTC HD2 SPL version displayed on the red bar.
Connect USB cable from PC to phone.
Serial status will be turned into USB.
On your PC, right click on HSPL4.exe and select “Run as administrator“. If you have Windows XP simply double-click the icon, as there’s no “Run as Admin” option.
Click ‘Yes’ if your “User Access Control” comes up.
Follow on-screen instructions to install.
Do make sure that you select 2.08.HSPL. This is very important, as the new ROM requires it to work properly.
After installation, you should see “We hacked it!” displayed on your phone, as well as on your PC.
HTC HD2 - Phase 2
We now have to install a custom radio on your beloved HD2. This is required for your Android Install, or even Windows Phone 7 install to function properly. The only prerequisite is that you have SPL-2.08.HSPL installed on your HD2 (which we already did in Phase 1). We’ll be using the latest 2.15.50.14 Radio ROM version, but you can try others as well, as different ones may work better with your mobile carrier/service provider. To change the Radio ROM simply just repeat the process with a different one. HERE is the Radio ROM list.
Download Radio ROM: Leo_Radio_2.15.50.14europe.rar
(You will need WinRAR to extract it)
Download CustomRUU: CustomRUU.zip – (Short Survey Required)
Extract CustomRUU to the desktop. Once you download the Radio ROM, follow these steps. Again, very similar to Phase 1.
Step by Step Guide to Install Radio ROM
With phone powered off, press and hold the volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone (while holding down the volume down button)
Your HD2 will load into a “Red, Green, Blue and White” screen bootloader once again.
There you’ll see your current HTC HD2 SPL version displayed on the red bar.
Connect USB cable from PC to phone.
Serial status will be turned into USB.
On your PC, right click on the CustomRUU.exe and select “Run as administrator“. Again, if using Windows XP just double-click the icon.
Click ‘Yes’ if your “User Access Control” comes up.
Follow onscreen instructions to install.
Phone will be rebooted after installation finished.
HTC HD2 - Phase 3
Unlike Phases 1 and 2, Phase 3 will erase everything on the phone, so it is advised to back everything up before proceeding.
Now we need to install our custom bootloader – MAGLDR v1.13 – which will allow us to boot off a custom Android or Windows Phone 7 ROM. Shall we continue? Lets start by downloading the latest version of MAGLDR.
Download: MAGLDR V1.13.zip – (Short Survey Required)
Once downloaded, place the file somewhere easy to access – like your desktop. Now follow the steps.
Step by Step Guide to Install MAGLDR V1.13 Bootloader
Verify that you have the correct radio ROM (Done in previous phase).
On your PC, right click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and select ‘Run as administrator’. You XP Guys can just double click.
Click ‘Yes’ if your “User Access Control” comes up.
Follow onscreen instructions to install.
Phone will be rebooted after installation finished.
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded then.
HTC HD2 - Phase 4
For this Phase we’ll be installing ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM for short) on you HTC HD2. This is definitely a “must-have” tool, as most of the NAND Android ROMs are in CWM zip format. You’ll need to use ClockworkMod Recovery to install these zip ROMs from an SD card. Not only that, but ClockworkMod Recovery can also make full system backups and restore using Nandroid. Isn’t that awesome!?
Now, CWM comes in 3 different flavors – 150MB, 250MB, and 400MB – the one to choose depends on the requirements of the ROM we’ll be using. For this guide we’ll be using the 250MB partition, as it’s pretty sufficient for the majority of the ROMS out there. The bigger the partition size, the less space you’ll have to store files. Technically it’s best to choose a size that’s just enough for the ROM – Which is why ROM authors will specify the exact partition size needed. If you want a custom sized partition you’ll have to manually edit the flash.cfg file – but that’s not recommended unless you know what you’re doing. Lets stick with the 250MB flavor for now.
Lets begin!
Download: ClockworkMod Recovery v1.3 – 250MB
Once downloaded, extract the files to your desktop and follow these steps.
Power on your phone and don’t let go of the power button. Keep it pressed.
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded. Once it’s loaded you may let go of the power button.
Use the “Volume Down” button to scroll down to option, “5. USB Flasher.”
Then press the “Call” button to load ‘USB Flasher mode.’
Connect the USB cable from PC to phone.
You should see “Wait USB…USB” on your phone’s screen.
On your PC, find the extracted folder, right click on “DAF.exe” and select ‘Run as administrator’. Again, you XP ladies and gents just double click.
Click ‘Yes’ if your “User Access Control” bothers you once again.
Follow onscreen instructions to install.
Phone will be rebooted after installation is finished.
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will then be loaded.
Disconnect USB cable from phone.
Use “Volume Down” button to scroll down to option “8. AD Recovery.”
Then press the “Call” button.
ClockworkMod Recovery will now start loading.
HTC HD2 - Final Phase
Whew! Congratulations, you’ve made it to the Final Phase! You should be very proud of yourself.
Now we’ll need to download the final piece of the puzzle – our ROM! If you want more in-depth information in regards to the ROM or it’s author, I invite you to check out it’s thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
Download ROM: NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.8.zip – (Make sure you download V1.3)
There’s no need to extract it, as MADLDR will do that for us. Just place the .Zip file on your desktop for easy access, and follow these steps.
Copy the NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.8.zip file you just downloaded directly onto the SD card (use an SD card reader or MassStg in MAGLDR).
Power on your phone and don’t let go of the power button. Keep it pressed.
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded. Once it’s loaded you may let go of the power button.
Use “Volume Down” button to scroll down to option “8. AD Recovery.”
Then press the “Call” button. STUCK IN THIS OPERATION
ClockworkMod Recovery will then be loaded.
Select the “Wipe data/Factory Reset” option. (You can skip this step if upgrading from same ROM)
Then select the “Yes — Delete All User Data” option.
Select the “Wipe Cache Partition” option. (You can skip this step if upgrade from same ROM)
Then select “Yes — Wipe Cache.”
Go to install zip from sdcard.
Then select “Choose zip from sdcard.”
Select your zip file (NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.8.zip).
Select “Yes – Install your zip file.”
Wait for installation – Be patient, it may take a while. DO NOT press buttons or power the phone during this step.
Once the installation has finished, press the “Power” button to go back.
Reboot your phone.
NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.8 will then be loaded.
Success!! You now have a working HTC HD2 running Android 4.0.3
And that’s if. If you run into any problems during your install, I highly recommend going over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/ for support. This guide is basically a puny, simple compilation compared to what you’ll find on there.
If you found this guide helpful, don’t forget to share!
