Can anyone help me PLEASE? Is there a weasther widget that will work on the Elocity A7? I know I cannot install Google Market but I do have Getjar (but doesn't appear to be working). I also have Amazon App Store installed.
I just want local weather to show on the home/main screen.
#1- Where can I obtain a free weather widget for my grandson's Elocity A7? One that would show on the Home screen and would be simple and easy to download/install and wouldn't require us to "sign-in" to some site, etc. Isn't there just some place where I could download/install such a widget?
I tried to download/install a few weather widgers, but they asked me to sign-in (to Google, or some other site), which I didn't do because we do not have sign-in info.
(I am a novice; so please explain in simple terms that even I could understand.)
#2- Is there any way to have a large digital clock on the Home/Main screen?
Thanks for any help.
#3- P.S. He has Getjar on the A7, but it doesn't seem to connect to the the Getjar main page when we click on the icon. Says something about incorrect address. Don't know how I can install the correct URL for Getjar so we don't keep getting that "incorrect page" when we click on the Getjar icon.
Can anyone help with my question above?

I would recommend using this method to install the market then you can install any weather widget and clock you want.

I can't get this theme. It's not been updated for ADW-EX but should still be available for purchase according to the theme creator.
I can't get it from Appbrain app on my phone, I can't use the QR, I can't find it on the normal market.
Hi There!
83 views and no-one could quickly check if they can access this theme on the market, I just need to see if anyone else can see the theme for purchase on the market? I can't see a purchase link or I get a not found error.
Yes
Just looked and it is there
Hello all,
The FULL Market is now online! Just open up your browser on your tablet and go to https://market.android.com/ (don't forget the s in https) Then sign in and you'll be able to download and install any app from the Market! (I have done several searches for apps that usually don't show up and they were all there!)
While on a PC, you can't download to the PC, but you can browse the Market on the PC and click install and some how Google finds your tablet and installs it.
Tesla
Edit: I just noticed it does a compatibility check, so maybe not all apps. I believe you have to have the Market installed on your tablet.
yeah its pretty good. although it has a rather striking simularity to Appbrain. I hope that google bought into their product and integrated it rather than pretty much rip it off.

But what is nice about Google's is that almost all the apps are downloadable.. even the ones that don't show up in the Market app. With AppBrain and AndroidZoom, if the app didn't show up in the Market app, then it wouldn't download.
It looks the same as the Google Market App.. I don't think they ripped it off.. unless the new Market was based on AppBrain??
Where does it download the apk to? I tried installing an app via the web Market in Dolphin HD. The downloading symbol appeared in the notification bar for a few seconds, then disappeared, and that's it. Nothing else, and can't find a downloaded apk anywhere... It did a compatibility check before downloading, and my archos came up in the list of devices I could install to...
@fisha21
After you have found downloading symbol then open Market app. It will install app for you.

D'OH! And thank you
has anyone else noticed that the google market website has suddenly stopped listing their archos even though it listed it previously?
It still shows my HTC Desire when I go to my market account in the top right and click on the settings tab, but no longer lists my archos 101? (I am logged into the archos using the same google account).
it used to list it but with some details missing from certain fields.
I have gappsforarchos v4 Market installed, and the archos is rooted with archangel v2, (I have tried 'market enabler' but it made no difference.)
I dont know if its relevant, but I re-did the market fix (where you delete the market cache etc) the other day, maybe this effected it?
My Archos 101 showed up last night and I just checked now and its still there.
Don't know what you did!

Yes I've had my device show up one day and disappear after the market fix.
did you ever manage to get it to show again?

It showed after the market did an automatic update. But when I fixed the market again that was needed after the upgrade it disappeared again.
I managed to get it back when I did an uninstall upgraded version in the apps management.
Anyway I hate the market website it can't even show what apps are installed it will show apps that where installed even when they where removed afterwards. I rather use appsbrain that site seems to be stable and you can manage your own devices/lists.
My online market was able to see my A70 up until this morning when i installed the new firmware. I did the market fix 5 times, but it doesn't seem to be working. And now I can't even install from the web market.
Anyone know a solution. Is there a new market fix that works better?
Umm I know it's recommended to actually go to the new market site (including the "s") but is there a .apk for it instead?? I'm just asking if anyone knows of a new .apk for it cuz for me it would be simpler.
Side question: Is this "new" Full Google Market site the newly updated gApps V5 or is it more like a new V6? I have aApps V5 and all of a sudden I noticed a few days ago the whole look of the Google Market when I click on my Market Apps icon was a little different. The area near the search bar at the top changed from all green and white-to all gray with a different font. This new look of the Google Marketplace is what I see when I click on my Market App icon, not the website.
I had Getjar installed on my Elocity when I bought it. If I click on the Getjar icon, I get taken to a page on the Internet that no longer exists. How can I change Getjar so that when I click on it, I will get taken to the Getjar site on the Internet. Is Getjar an okay app, or is there a better one? (I don't believe I can delete the Getjar app from this Elocity A7.)
Also, would anyone know a good, free, weasther app that I could download that would show the weather (in my vicinity) on the Home screen (background) , similar to the time that appears there now?
amazon, google android market
use this to get android market working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431967
after you root the device you can install the amazon app store and buy the root explorer if you don't get it through other means. it's a useful app, buy it. you can find the getjar program in /system/app, where you drop off the google apps. be careful when you remove the default apps, try to force stop them before uninstalling. 2 of them can't be stopped(one is fring and i can't remember the other, i think it had a light blue icon) and after they are uninstalled will give an error that will keep popping up, just hard reset and continue.
for the weather app, just search 'weather widget' in either app store. keep in mind that app will be a battery drain.

Thank you. Sorry, but I am new at all of this (tablets, etc.) and don't know what you mean by "root," "drop off," "default apps," "force stop," "error popping up," etc. Really confusing and I do not want to make my grandson's A7 unstable, etc.
Isn't there anyone who can tell me if there is any way I can get a weather widget for my Elocity A7 (with Getjar)?
I've tried a few and they do download, but don't install.
I don't think I can install the other downloader, which is called "market" or something like that.
Any help appeciated.
Im sure this is a silly question but is there an actual regular app store or do you just have to browse though the panels?
There just doesnt seem to be many apps at all to install I figured there must be some better way of getting them more like playstore.
...
I cant get regular playstore working after following the guide. It either flashes and returns to apps list or occasionally goes to the account details screen but no further.
There's the Amazon app store.

Yes, there are other/new places to look for getting Fire TV apps, but unfortunately because of being new in this forum I'm not yet permitted to place external links in my posts (which would be the easiest way to assist) So, just do search on 'fire tv apps 2014' and/or 'fire tv app options' which will lead to some info that should hopefully help? In addition, I found a few recent and relevant links on the 1st page in a Google search for 'finding apps for fire tv'. But as far as there being a store solely for Fire TV apps, I'm not sure if there is one yet
If you can install from unknown sources, there is 1mobile,appchina,wandoujia,voga360,and aptoide.
You can also use evozi and/or apkleecher to get free apps from the Play Store.
And you can even get your purchased apps by signing up at the Evozi APK Downloader page!

Update: @jarayn informs me that it is not a launchable app.
And just to bring it full circle. The Amazon Appstore comes preloaded on the AFTV. It's just very hidden. This is the location on the latest FW.
Go to: Settings / 4) Applications / Manage All Installed Applications / Apptore ( Just scroll down till you find it & launch)

Thats not a launchable app on my fire tv.
Are you saying you can open that and actually browse through apps?
What other "treasures" await those poor schmucks or pre-rooted winners who get the latest firmware?

Humn... Didn't try to open it. Guess it is there but everything is dealt thru the UI. Wonder if there is another app to sideload that might act like an actual appstore. No point though....
I side-loaded the regular appstore apk from Play. Kinda messed things up. Had to Unzip Rbox's pre-rooted ROM to retrieve the correct one from Apps. Then had to R/W with Root Explorer to remove the side-loaded one and replace with the correct one.
Be careful messing with AFTV specifc apps.
