I had almost the entire top row of keys on my keyboard dock stop working and I have a hunch that it was the free Logitech virtual keyboard (beta) that caused it.
I was using the Logitech keyboard, which is very nice btw, and then connected the dock. I got the message to switch to the ASUS keyboard to make sure all the buttons worked properly. I didn't switch right away but later I noticed the function keys along the top, from WiFi to Settings had stopped working, also the Mute key is dead. Switching to the ASUS or Android virtual keyboard didn't help nor did several cold resets , re-docking, changing the language, or anything else I've tried.
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144204 which explains a way to remap the keys on the dock and I figured I could try that to fix the problem. I'm waiting to see if ICS comes out in the next week or so before I root. There's a possibility that the firmware change would fix the problem.
I'm assuming the Logitech rewrote the files with the key mapping and didn't replace them when it was uninstalled. I don't know what happened but the timing is too much of a coincidence. I felt it was worth mentioning since it may be a bug in the Logitech, and may affect other users.
If anyone has any suggestions how to fix this without rooting I'd appreciate it, also if anyone wants to test it to see if it is the Logitech causing this and if it does it to any transformer.
My TF101 tablet and dock are both B50, bought in June and still stock.
The Logitech keyboard is sweet. I hope if it's the culprit that they fix the bug. I'll drop them a line since the keyboard is a beta release.

Each time I dock my EEE PAD in the docking station I only have a 10% chance it will recognize the keyboard. Sometimes I get the keyboard only, sometime it recognizes the keyboard and the mouse (pad) but mostly it recognizes neither. Sometimes it says it is connected to the docking station and still doesn't recognize the keyboard but mostly it says it is not connected to the docking station after insertion.
I called ASUS support - they had me reset the transformer (Hold volume 'down' while hitting power) and also do the Factory Data Reset. Curiously while on the phone with them the keyboard just started generating 'd' keystrokes over and over! Finally they sent me instructions for updating the firmware, which I was to do myself. I did not research how to do this last step because I think it is completely unnecessary: the latest version is 8.4.4.5 and I already have that version. I called ASUS support back but they say their computers are down and call back tomorrow. However, the last thing he said was I will have to send it to their repair center in CA.
Basically, two questions: 1) Do you think I should download the firmware anyway? 2) Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I am not a genius but I would try reinstalling firmware. Maybe you got a bad firmware in your keyboard?

Not trying to be too simplistic but you might also make sure that the thing is really in there good too. The connection between my tablet and dock is pretty tough to get just right and the only way I really know for sure it's in there is to pull up on either side of the screen to make sure it's seated properly. I can imagine if one was more finicky then mine it might look like it's in there, latch slid and all, but still pop one side out if you tugged.
Just a thought based on my use.
I noticed the same thing...it's easy to think the dock is in correctly...it has to "click" and the little bar has to go ALL the way to the right side of the slot..otherwise it's not making 100% contact.
I had a broadly similar issue with mine. I eventually got the retailer to accept it back as faulty and ordered another [from a different supplier so it was from a different batch] and have had no issues with the new one... so far!
I am quite conscientious about docking the tablet solidly in the docking station. I use both hands (on each side of the tablet) and push firmly till I see the silver clasp pop completely over to the right. I have tried tugging it out afterward and neither side will budge upward.
Bottom-line is ASUS created an RMA # for me today. They want only the docking station, and not the tablet also. (My concern is what if the problem is the connector on the tablet?). One of the three main reasons I purchased ASUS was reliability, yet this is the first computer I have bought which failed out of the box! Anyway, it's nice to have prompt support and service. I called them 3 times and got through in less then 5 minutes all 3 times.

I have a stock eee pad updated to 3.1 (keyboard dock updated to latest firmware). I bought the keyboard but didn't really use until I took it out yesterday. I plugged it in and started typing, but noticed that the "zaq" row was not working. I thought that it might be thumkey messing with it so I switched back to the default asus keyboard, still having the problem. I have rebooted the tablet, reseated the keyboard, etc... still nothing.
Any ideas?
If it's a particular row (or column, in your case!) of keys that isn't working on the physical keyboard, but that works on the virtual keyboards, chances are it's a defective dock.

Just wanted to throw out there that the Apple BT keyboard and trackpad work great with the fire TV on the latest Firmware. Multitouch works great for scrolling, unsure of any other multitouch features.. but Tapping also works to click so the trackpad still works great without a hard surface to put it on
Once you have a mouse/any mouse I suggest sideloading 1mobile market, you can then install any app on the device itself, without root.

nice. after reading this, I searched for a holder for the keyboard and trackpad. I came across one by Meshwe as seen in the amazon link below. not bad. I think I'll get the keyboard and trackpad now.

edit: I originally posted a dock by 'Hengedocks' that I came to realize had terrible reviews on Amazon. After a little digging around, I found one with much better reviews, that is actually cheaper.
Nice... I hope they add more multitouch features in the future.. its neat. you see a dot on the screen for each finger on the trackpad up to all 10 of them.
yup! I'm currently using a RII Wireless Touchpad Keyboard. I don't know if I received a defective unit, but it constantly jams keys when I'm typing. However, I agree that the dot from the trackpad is great, especially for apps that don't respond to the AFTV included remote.
I've read good reviews on the FAVI Wireless Keyboard/trackpad. I ordered one a few days ago, so I'm waiting for that to come in. If it works well, I'll hold off on the Apple BT Keyboard/Trackpad.

Hi there,
I was stupid enough to break my YB's Halo Keyboard on a camping trip. Problem: atm, it serves me as are replacement for my soon-to-be-repaired work Laptop. I am fairly convinced that repairing the YB would be a mess of glue and hassle so I didn't bother (the entire Halo surface is broken, very much like a screen and keeps doing funny things.).
As a freelancer, I need to write on it so I got me a decent BT keyboard and mouse and it works just fine- apart from the fact that the keyboard activates itself from time to time (remember the wonderful touch wakeup mode) and annoys the hell out of me.
Is there any way to completely deactivate, uninstall, turn off the keyboard?
It's an XB1-X90Fstill running on official 7.1.1, unrooted.
I want to root it anyway, so any tips in terms of an OS that doesn't support it in the first way? (By logic, it shouldn't be able to even light up then?)

So out of nowhere, I found that my Halo Keyboard had a crack along the midsection... I didn't drop it but I had it in my backpack and on a pretty cold day, I thought maybe it was due to the cold.. Anyway I've read that many people have had this issue and Lenovo hasn't provided free repairs and so I instead bought a bluetooth keyboard but the Halo Keyboard is giving me issues, its pressing random buttons (even when in drawing mode for some strange reason).
So that was the backstory, can I uninstall and remove all functionality of the Halo Keyboard? I have an Android Yoga Book!
