Recovery Problems

I used this guide to root my TF and install CWM. But I have never been able to boot into Recovery. I still get the green Android with the exclamation mark.
I thought I would retry running the cwm.bat again from that guide to see if maybe it just didn't install correctly, but now I can't get ADB Devices to show my device when it's in APX mode. With the device on I can get ADB Devices to show it, but when I power off, and then do Power + Vol Up it boots into APX and my computer makes the sound that a USB was attached... but it never shows up in ADB Devices.
So, I can't update CWM, I can't reinstall it... what do I do?

Bootloop immediately after rooting

So I've had the transformer for a while and I finally took the plunge and followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714 to root. I got to step 4c, meaning I successfully ran root.bat and cwm.bat and rebooted afterwards. When I rebooted however, the tablet stayed on the "asus powered by nvidia" screen for a very long time. I decided to shut it down, but it immediately started back up again and stayed on that screen again. The only way to stop it was to put it into APX mode so it doesn't drain my battery.
I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps correctly, and I was on the latest .11 OTA update. Help please?
EDIT: I reread the first few sentences of the guide and realized I missed a very important step... I forgot to extract 84411.zip into the "root" folder of tf_rootkit_31, which means I have no boot or recovery image. Is there any way I can recover from this?

Just start over with the correct files in place.
The boot.bat file will write those files and you should be good to go.
With APX mode the transformer is basically un(software)brick able.

I tried starting over but I can't seem to boot into APX mode. When I turn it off and then hold power/vol up, device manager refreshes but APX mode doesn't show up. the device also isn't listed under adb devices in the command prompt...

When you say it doesn't enter APX mode, is it still boot looping? When this happened to me, it took about 10 seconds just holding power and vol+ before I heard the USB connected sound.

adb won't show the device when it is in APX mode. If you're on windows you need to check your device manager or connected usb devices to see if it's there. The screen on the TF should be black until you start the rooting proccess.
If it is bootlooping just keep power and vol+ unti the screen goes blank - can take a few seconds extra.
Also make sure you use the correct 84411 zip - using the US version on a WW TF will make it go into a bootloop - I suspect the same will happen the other way around.

Thanks for the responses, I'll try again when I get home in 3 hours. also when I say bootloop, it's not turning on and off repeatedly, it just stays on one screen until I turn it off, then it starts back up by itself.

Well it finally worked, I had to reinstall the APX drivers first though, thanks has been given!

Kindle Fire Stuck in Yellow Triangle After Root

Hello,
This is my first post, so please try to bear with me. I just received a Kindle Fire and decided to root and install Cyanogenmod. I found a tutorial which I thought looked pretty straightforward on Lilputing. I downloaded the Kindle Fire Utility and followed both the utility and the article told me to do. After installing TWRP 2.0, disaster. I rebooted the device and the Kindle read, "press power button for recovery," and showed a yellow triangle with a fire icon in the middle. I pressed the power button, and nothing happened. At this point, I rebooted. The device would not get passed this screen, and my PC would not recognize the Kindle. I presume I bricked my device, however (as I do not have any experience in this field) I honestly have no idea what I did, nor do I know where to go next. Any suggestions? Please help!

Anyways, I have a similar problem in that it gets stuck at the triangle if I hit the power button, but for me, if I don't touch ANYTHING it will boot into the Kindle OS just fine.

Mine always powers up to the yellow triangle. If I just leave it there, it boots into android after like 10-15 seconds. Have you guys tried just waiting it out?
If I press the power button, it'll cycle off and on, so you have to wait even longer to get into Android. When I want to get into TWRP, I just press the power button repeatedly until it turns orange.
side comment: this waiting five minutes between posts and not being allowed to post in dev forums blows. i shoulda kept my old account.

Okay, try this:
1) Download v6 of the Kindle Fire Utility from here. (The forum thread can be found here)
2) Extract the files into a folder anywhere (but remember where, obviously)
3) Go into the folder, then into 'drivers' and open up adb_usb.ini in a text editor and add "0x18D1" (without the quotes) on a line underneath "0x1949"
4) Open up Device Manager and find "kindle". It should have a yellow triangle near it.
5) Download fastboot.exe from here
6) Open up command prompt and navigate to wherever you saved fastboot to.
7) Run the command "fastboot oem idme bootmode 4000"
8) Power off your device by holding down the power button for ~10 seconds and turn it back on, and this time don't hit the power button to go into TWRP. It should move past the yellow triangle after a few seconds and boot into Kindle. Hope this helps!

reinstall the usb driver from the android sdk (using device manager to find the right driver in windows) and change change the bootmode back to 4000.
this hapened to me half way through installing the new burrittoroot my pc couldnt recognize the kindle anymore, had to reinstall the drivers and manually change the boot mode from command promt.
oops... bikeracer beat me to it, jst saw his post.... thats almost exactly what I had to do.

if you didn't.read.the.instructions,.like me, then you might have rebooted.without changing.the bootmode.back to 4000 so I was.stuck.in.fastboot
I had a kernel.handy so I.just typed.fastboit -I 0x1949 boot kernel.img then.once booted I immediately changed the bootmode.
I don't even try to fix the periods from.using the.stock kindle.keyboard.anymore.

first - if you did it with kfu did you read the tricks from the first page:
Known Tricks
•If you end up stuck at the yellow triangle, in KF Utility select Boot Normal, wait for it to say <waiting for device> and then press and hold the power button 20 seconds until the fire turns off, then when its off turn it back on. This sometimes happens, I have yet to find a clean solution
•If you end up stuck with a yellow triangle, do not EVER unplug it. Leave it plugged in. Check the windows drivers to make sure it isnt showing as "kindle" again. Fastboot is different and can cause this.

if this is not your issue lets go ahead
download the latest kfu, extract it somewhere (i would recomend to c:\), but don't run install_drivers.bat !
make shure you don't have a driver issue (check device manager for yellow exclamation mark on kindle,android phone - adb devices)
if so you have to correct you drivers:

[Q] Uninstalling TWRP and Firefirefire

So this morning I rooted my spare kindle fire with BurritoRoot3 and then flashed FireFireFire with it, then like a retard I used Kindle Fire utility to install TWRP. After that I tried to boot into recovery but it refuses to. All it does is sit at the yellow triangle and refuses to actually go into recovery... I can leave it alone and it will boot into the OS but I'm trying to install ICS or CM7. Any tips on how to wipe or repair TWRP/Firefirefire? Re installing TWRP doesn't work as KFU can't do anything due to it sitting at yellow triangle.

Do you hold down the power button until it turns orange? Make sure that you do... hope this helps.

If i do that it makes the power button turn red and then screen flashes and it goes to the same screen but the screen brightness seems to be turned down. After that it just powers off. I have a second kindle fire that works flawlessly and I got ICS running on it.. this one... not so much

would try to start the twrp installation - when it says <waiting for device> power off the kf by holding pwr ~20sec - power on again - the installation should resume and finish

Yellow Triangle Bootloop

I've checked the other two threads to know avail. My device reboots up to the yellow triangle, and then reboots infinitely. Here's my situation:
1. I think i booted into recovery using my roms reboot into recovery option.
2. My kindle fire is in a state of it can't turn on unless it is plugged into a computer/charger.
3. I don't see "kindle fire" in my devices on windows 7 and I don't see ADB composite device thing.
4. Using the install drivers.bat that is in the kindle fire utility says Driver name "Google, Inc (WinUSB) Status Ready to use.
5. I have tried the kindle fire utility to set boot mode to normal but adb and fastboot don't recognize it.
6. Also I've tried plugging into the computer with a factory usb cable and that also didn't work.
I'm wondering if i'm SOL.

Okay, So I finally got my fire working! Charged it up through a charger for a little while. Booted into ubuntu 11.10 (32bit) with the firekit file and ran the install recovery script. It hung at waiting for device. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and tried turning it on and off and holding the power of the device for awhile and one time it just worked. Was able to reboot and boot into recovery and flash a rom.

You're fine.
First, charge the fire fully.
Second, read some of the threads in the development forum on getting it out of fastboot mode, because you are stuck in fastboot.
Third, do NOT reboot into recovery on the fire, it puts you into fastboot and....well you already see what that looks like.
Fourth, plug your fully charged fire into your computer and issue the commands to take it out of fastboot.

the command would be:
"fastboot oem idme bootmode 4000"
and
"fastboot reboot"
if it says <waiting for device> power it off by holding the pwr button for ~20sec till it turns of - pwr on again - the command should resume and finish
a second pwr off/on will bring you back to normal

I can't turn the power off though. Holding it down for any amount of time won't turn it off, and I can't get the driver to install. I can't get it to recognize it as an ADB device or a kindle.

nevertheless - to stop the bootloop you will need to charge it
do you use the original wall charger ?
if not take care the replacement charger has ~1.8A
if you plug it to the charger it would be fine if you can turn it off for better charging
if you can't turn it off - leave it - try again to power off after an hour
what happens:
if you plug it to a power source it tries to start - battery breaks down - tries to start - ...

If I plug it in to any source pc or charger it turns on gets to the triangle and then reboots, and does that for as long as it's plugged in. I've had it plugged in like this for a few hours and the only way to "turn it off" is to unplug it.

yes - this is a sign for a empty battery - atm the search function is'nt working but there are ~20 threads with the same problem - it was allways the battery besides 1 or 2 where the battery was so deep empty that they had to return it
charging with the computer will not work in this situation - the computer delivers only 500ma - that is too few
you can try to switch it to fastboot mode because then it starts the bootloader and don't go further (so it uses fewer power) - this is done by issuing: "fastboot oem idme bootmode 4002" - then let it do a bootloop - it should pickup the command

The drivers won't install for the kindle fire though, I don't think it's going to work that way. I'll try it again, but I've done this like 5 times to no avail.

if the right drivers are not allready on the machine you can't install them until you get it to stable state
the only solution (besides a factory cable) to change the bootmode in this situation would be firekit - this is a special crafted ubuntu on a usb stick because linux don't need drivers
