I just installed nightly 253 for my Nook Color with gapps 20110828, and every time I try to download one of my books to my device, it says "download interrupted," and then it said I had too many registered devices. I deregistered my phone, and for good measure registered and deregistered my PC, but it still will not let me download a book to my Nook. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well. I'd welcome any suggestions.
I was going to suggest reinstalling the app, but see you've already done that. Try installing the kindle program to your PC and see if it works. If not, there may be a problem with your acct. If it does, then we know the problem lies with the nook.

Thanks, but I forgot to mention that I already tried the PC app, and it worked perfectly. I even tried going on the Amazon site, and send the book to the device - no go
mindwave also just posted in this forum with problems downloading from Amazon. I wonder what the glitch is?
Not sure if this will help you or not, but I had the same issue. What I ended up having to do was go to the Amazon Website, go to my Account Settings and de register some of the devices I had my book downloaded to. For example I had my book load to my PC, Nook Color, I Pod touch, and wanted to add it to my new Tablet. I took them off my PC and Touch, but it kept giving me an error msg. So ended up going directly to the Amazon site and removed the PC and Touch. No Problems after that! Downloaded to my tablet beautifully!

I'm using CM7 off of an SD card, and I thought I'd load the B&N reader app and consider buying a book to read. Since CM7 doesn't provide the app, I went to the AppBrain market and it shows me a "Nook for Android by B&N", and then the procedure is to click the 'market' button to try to download it, but it says 'the requested item could not be found'. If I search for it on the CM7 provided 'market', the app doesn't exist.
How do I get this app?
I installed it by searching for "nook" in the Market app. No muss, no fuss. Now, I did that before the recent update, but it certainly shows as installed when I search now.
First, instead of appbrain, try going to market.android.com. That's the official web based market run by Google.
Second, the Nook app was in the Market app on CM7.0.3 on my NC. I installed it with no problems. The app also shows up in the Market app on my Nexus One running CM7.0.3. You might want to try clearing the data on your Market.app, or some other remedies to get it working as it should.
Third - "Since CM7 doesn't provide the app..." I don't know why they would provide the app. It's not what they do.

Up until now I have always used the appbrain app or the market app in the NC. I did once look at the web interface, but since I thought the intent was to 'use the device to manage the device', I never paid too much attention to their corresponding web sites; however, I did once look at the appbrain web site.

Thanks, but a 'it works for me', doesn't help me any.
But your comment above about the web site, did give me a though of something to try.
Although the NC kept telling me the 'app could not be found', the market.android.com web site said something different. It said 'This item cannot be installed in your device's country'.
Considering B&N will sell books in the US and Canada, I am surprised that the app can't be installed in Canada. Maybe somebody, somewhere didn't get the memo about Canada being a friendly country! But at least that explains it, even though the other apps didn't give me a useful clue/explanation. Now the question is how to get around it. B&N were more than happy to accept my credit card # in their original app on the stock NC. But that was B&N, and this may be a Google/Android restriction, who knows?

I didn't mean any slight to the CM7 project or team... it was just the observation part of my sentence.
On the other hand, CM7 does come with phone, camera and other apps, that I can't use, and I can't (obviously/easily) uninstall.
I was going to mention, Nook app doesn't seem to like other countries other than US.
Here is the app ripped right from my device. http://www.mediafire.com/?ysjyohkj4onm1az
Edit: Forgot to mention, install via adb or move onto your SD and install through a file manager.
I use HotspotShield to fake an US ip address and that's it no problems buying stuff from B&N.
Thanks for the .apk file, that worked. Now for my new observations:
1/ I have to click many times before the 'go to shop'/'go to library' reacts.
2/ I've only ever been able to see the 'about' screen once, and the other
button on the top right of the screen 'do not seem to work'.
... but it _is_ progress!

I looked at that service. It seems to be a MS Windows or Mac only product.
So that doesn't help on the Nook, or my other Linux machines - unless HotspotShield
supports standard VPN'ish software without the need for their magic code.
(if so, how?)
Hey guys,
No matter what, I get the "Unable to Connect" error when trying to connect to my Gmail on Chrome-to-Phone. I've uninstalled, reinstalled etc but nothing. Other Google apps seem to work fine I think.
I'm already connected to this account in this app on my Droid X, so I know it should work. Same goes for my Nook Color previously, worked fine. Why wouldn't it work on this?
Also, in the YouTube tablet app, some videos I try to watch, the second it hits the video screen and the little loading circle starts spinning, the app freezes and then force closes. More than 50% of the videos seem to work, but some (namely certain ones I click from the widget that are featured, which is weird) freeze up right away and FC on me. Any answers to this one yet?
Thanks.
I definitely get the youtube force closes. No idea whats causing it.
Well I bet that one's pretty common.
But does anyone know how to make Chrome to Phone work? This is killing me!
I have the same chrome to phone problem on my Tab and Thunderbolt. Its really annoying because I use it all of the time.
np with Chrome2Phone here - it's just a little slow sometimes.
Try: Force Stop, Clear Cache for the app & restart.
You seeing any message in your logs? (adb logcat)

Nope, tried clearing/uninstalling...nothing works, just get unable to connect.
EDIT: I did a logcat on my PC while trying to connect to Chrome to Phone, and the section that contains tons of mentions of Chrome to Phone is freakin over 14,000 characters long, much too long to paste in here. How do I know what to look for in there??? (A hell of a lot of activity happens instantly).
Google has some arbitrary limit of number of devices that you can connect to your chrome to phone account. If you use a different Google account, you should be fine. If you unregister one of your devices, you should be fine.
The problem comes from us crack-flashers that forget to unregister before flashing a new ROM. If you have a nandroid backup of a ROM where you are still registered, restore it and unregister, then restore back to whatever you were using before. I've even gotten it to work on my tablet by unregistering on my phone and then restoring a backup to regain the registration on my phone.
I've also heard that the old registrations expire after a while. I can't verify that, though.

You'll see something that looks like a stack-trace.
It has to be fast - your phone does a lot without you knowing about it
Your best bet is to: adb logcat > capture.txt
Run through the app.
Open & explore.
You'll find a group of lines that look something like:
Code:
D/ContactsSyncAdapter( 517): at com.google.wireless.gdata2.client.GDataServiceClient.convertHttpExceptionForWrites(GDataServiceClient.java:466)
The specific content will vary depending on what apps is crashing.
Feel free to IM me the log and I'll help point out the error.

Ok so the too many devices thing is it. I think 2 is the limit. I am linked through my Droid X and was linked to my Nook Color. The problem is that I factory restored (reflashed stock Nook firmware) the Nook to sell it and no longer have access to Chrome to Phone on that device (I assumed it would disconnect the link for me?). It has stock firmware, so no Android apps or anything. Yet the only way I can get it to connect on my Tab is to disconnect on my Droid X app. I don't want to disconnect on there obviously.
How can I disconnect what it thinks is still a link to my Nook Color without actually even having it on the device?? I want to have it link to my DX and my Tab- this will work but I don't see any outside way to unlink it from my Nook? Grr
Basically now, my Tab is connected fine but now the same issue is with my DX, so I still need to figure this out.
Also, in my opinions, this limit of two is not great because what if you really have a legit third device and want to link? There is no quick way to switch between devices if there is a third, and nobody really wants to have two Google accounts just for this. Kinda stupid IMO.
I have had this issue for awhile on my Samsung Captivate and now my Galaxy tab. If there is a limit, I need to figure out how to remove the old ones. Does any one know how to remove devices? I do not currently have it connected on any devices so I should be able to have it running no problem but I get the same message as the OP when I try.

Um OK, so I bit the bullet, took the Nook out, reflashed CM7, logged into Google, downloaded Chrome to Phone...all so I can do what I thought would work and log in to Chrome to Phone and then disconnect again so that the device would now longer be linked. I did that, and now I cannot connect on any of my three devices.
Are you serious?? How are people supposed to deal with this? There is no device management for the account/app anywhere. Can someone please help me make this work? I don't know what to do at this point..
I even tried connecting CTP on the Nook to my other Google account to see if it would really unlink my original account, but I still can't login with the original account on any device!! Oh my freakin God
Hey guys and gals,
I have rooted my Fire per the instructions found here. All was going great. Even after the 6.2 update, I re-rooted, have installed adw launcher and the android market. I hadn't looked at my fire for about a day or so...when I unplugged it and open it today, all of my kindle books are nowhere to be found in the Amazon launcher. I can see them and read them with the ADW launcher using the android kindle app, but they don't appear on the bookshelf. I have access to all my cloud apps and music but no books.
I deactivated and reactivated to no avail. And now my @kindle email address does not connect either.
Any chance there has been some change when it comes to root and the Kindle books?
I did use the Fire this morning to "rent" a book to check that out and it was working fine as well. Now nothing.
Just wondering if anyone else has any issue with the same.
Thanks,
Scott
Figured it out....
I had updated the kindle app through the android market and it changed the kindle store and everything in the main launcher. Don't know why, but be warned if you are using both platforms. All is back to normal now.

Thanks for helping me fix my wife's fire as well. She updated the Amazon Kindle app through Google Play and hers did the same thing.
Thanks to this solution, I was able to restore my Music app that failed to open.

I had all of those issues on rooted stock.. it kept trying to update even after I changed the setting about auto updating.. made me mad. So I just flashed ICS instead!
make sure you open up google play, and go to the kindle app on there that it says you should update and click off on auto update, that was a problem for me. luckily i was able to get the apk from one of the threads in here.

Sorry for my ignorance but I can’t find anywhere the Uninstall /Update button on Applications/All Applications/Amazon Kindle.
I only see "force stop", "clear data" and "clear cache".
Please help, thanks.
on the top - most right
Awesome, this just happened to me yesterday, was wondering whether I was going to have to reset the darn thing...
Thanks! I'm surprised that Google Play was even able to update it in the first place. Usually apps won't cross-update, at least in my experience. I always get odd errors if I try to update from Play for an app I've downloaded off of the Amazon Appstore, on my Kindle and on my phone.
So which version are you on now? I had the same problem because I made the mistake of letting the android market update my kindle app, and I've bounced back and forth a couple of times between V3.5.1.1 and 4.something. It kept updating itself, so I finally deleted the 4.??? version from Ti Backup, and now I can't seem to go home.

Which thread?
I 've managed to root my kindle (6.3) on my mac using the terminal works a treat.
I backed it up immediately and then thought about putting on a custom rom which went great (CM9) is on the kindle
I went and put on the Kindle Reader App but can't get calibre to upload data to my device where do I put the files for the Kindle App.
Ive tried on the "SD Card" in Documents and Books but the app can't see them
I've also found the app and placed them in there but still no joy.
So basically I've got (had as restored to rooted Kindle Fire) a KF with CM9 running but can't read anything which is really annoying as I've got thousands of books that I can't read now unless I use my Kindle3.
Also is there a way of telling the Kindle that I'm not in the US but UK and to use my UK Amazon account as it wants to use a US one and I can't purchase anything as not got a US Credit card this is mainly for my Kindle Reader
This has probably all been covered in separate posts sorry if it has
Thanks
Martin
Make a folder on your sd called kindle and put the mobi files in there. Sign into your kindle app and it takes a min for it to pop up but it will load them.

I just got a Kindle Fire for my wife and it is linked to an already existing Amazon account, with a valid Credit Card linked and working fine with books.
When I try to go into the App Store it lets me in but I can't download anything. I can't even get into the "MyApps" section. A box pops up saying "Authenticating" but then goes away, and it goes back to the screen I was just on.
I noticed this issue out of the box and did some research where people made some recommendations such as "Clear Data" from the App. That didn't help, neither did a factory reset. I was hoping that rooting it and uninstalling the App Store app would help, but it didn't.
I figured I would try to turn off the in-App purchasing to see that might help but it would not accept my password. Hmmm Odd, I wonder if somehow this is holding onto an old account, since this was a refurbished Fire.
Personally I could live without the Amazon App Store and the Stock Rom, but my wife really wants it setup and wants to preserve the look and feel.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I had that same thing. For me the problem was that I had too many devices registered with the Amazon App store, since I frequently reinstall ROM on my tablet.
There are two places the Kindle gets registered. One is under Mange My Kindle and the other is somewhere within you app store settings. I removed all my devices from the Manage My Kindle area but that didn't fix it. I actually had to call Amazon and they removed all my device registrations from the App Store portion for me, but they said I would have been able to do it myself if I had gone in there.
Sorry I don't have the specific directions to the link. But you should be able to find all your associated devices in you App Store settings online and delete them. After doing this I just restarted my Kindle and the app store worked like a charm.
Thanks that was exactly it. I have a Gtablet and 4 Android phones that get flashed all the time. I went in and deleted them and it fixed the problem.
The path to get to this section is:
Amazon Account settings -> Android Apps & Devices -> Your Devices
And start de-registering devices no longer needed.
