[Q] Any Update for Dell Xcd 35 (ZTE BLADE) - Blade General

Hi Folks
Kiran here...Im using DELL XCD 35 (ZTE BLADE)...Its currently running on 2.2 froyo...Could you please lemme know if there is any update available for this phone...I mean is it up-gradable to Gingerbread or can we root this phone to get the latest OS...If so could you please guide me how to root this phone safely...Im a beginner and i have no real idea of how to root a phone....
Thanks in advance....
Kiran

Yes you basically have to root then install ROM Manager and install ClockworkMod from that app and then download ROMs and flash .
For GB ROMs you have stock ROM based on 2.3.5 and custom roms like swedish snow and cyanogen 7 and many more look here at XDA and modaco for them.

Be sure to take a back up of stock rom.
There are lots of rom's which are on Gingerbread . Explore this place for the same.

[Q] What version is it and what rom is possible ?

Good day
So here is my question
What version of rom can i use to upgrade this one ?
Because now we have
1: HUAWEI IDEOS X5 ( this is the one i have i guess )
2: U8800
3: U8800Pro
4: U8800-51
when lookin at the website from Huawei i do not see any upgrades for the HUAWEI IDEOS X5
just for the U8800 , U8800Pro , U8800-51
Thats why i ask this
Do i have to root the phone first ?
What programm can i use to back up old rom and contacts , photo's ext ext
Well hope you all can help me out Any link or readme file would do
Thnx already for any answer
Ideos x5=u8800.
Root your phone for unofficial roms and install clockworkmod. Links are in development section.
For rooting i suggest z4root or superoneclick.
For backups, use titanium backup, get from market.
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
You have U8800 which is IDEOS X5. You can find official updates here: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3791&tb=0
You dont need to root it if youw ant to install official updates - just do what it says in the pdf that is in zip. You can export contacts to SD or link them to your google account, for apps download mybackup (or similar) and for phoos you probably have them on SD so just copy them to your PC and after the update you can copy them back to SD. The B522 update is gingerbread (2.3.5) and B138 is FroYo (2.2).
If you want to install custom ROMs then you will have to root it and install custom recovery. Here is a great guide: http://android.modaco.com/topic/341011-ultimate-guide-to-the-huawei-u8800/
But with this guide you will only be able to use .32 kernel ROMs (old CM7, oxygen, old MIUI). If you want to use .35 kernel ROMs then you will have to first install official 2.3.5 (B522) and then root it and change recovery using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728 (you dont have to remove bundled apps if you dont want to. Also dont forget to unlock bootloadr if you are going to isntall offficial 2.3.5 (you can find tutorial by blefish in development forum)
Thnx allot mate will start reading it all
And later on i will report back how it went
Again thnx mates
I have installed the latest gingerbread
What a difference against froyo
Works like a charm
now i will see what custom rom is the best to get

[Q] Unable to install custom ROM after flashing Gingerbread ROM from Motorola.

Hey guys,
After I flashed the Official Android 2.3 Gingerbread SBF from Motorola for my Motorola Milestone 2, I then realised that I can't downgrade to Froyo, and doesn't have Chinese language support but my parent need Chinese language in order to use the phone.
I heard that those upgraded with the official gingerbread from Motorola, can only flash the ones with the GB kernel. (Can I know which custom ROM have GB kernel?
Thanks!

I buyed a Huawei u8800-51 (USA aka Impulse 4g), it have Android 2.2.2 FroYo and no has update to GB, less ICS...
the reason for I write is to request a Custom Rom for this phone based on Froyo.. it has the same hardware than Huawei U8800pro, inclusive, I tested ICS Aurora on it.. but when screen is off, phone reboot (baseband compatibility problem)...
and sure, we can install some other ROM's based on GB for U8800pro and it Run perfectly (fuctionality).. but not have 3g/HSPA (only 2g/EDGE) =(... so for this, is my request:
Some Dev can Modify FroYo ROM for u8800-51??.. I have Link to Official ROM.. only need a littlie bit of kitchen .. plz... all Venezuela and the world need it =(
greets!
Sorry for my english..
PD: if need Link to Oficial Froyo 2.2.2 ROM for U8800-51, send me a PM =)

Carrier Name

Helo all,
Since my fisrt custom ROM, OXYGEM, my carrier name changed, even now, when i'm using the Aurora ICS rom from DZO, after installing the previous stock roms, the carrier name is not the one that was supost to be.
My girlfriend has the same phone. she was using the stock rom yet. I installed the Aurora ICS and the carrier name is right!
Do you know how can i overwrite tis problem? there's a file or something that I can copy from her phone.
Tanks
I suggest you to install official 2.2 or 2.3 to restore sytems to normality.
than you just root and instal CWM and custom rom again.
To install custom cum you can skip the root part off course...

To install the Aurora ICS ROM i had to downgrade to stock 2.2 and install the 2.3 official rom!
So, i gues it doesn't resolve the problem! =/
