Considerations...... - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi to all, i premise that i love stock look and i want my GNote look like a GNote, not another phone, so i'm not intersted to roms with too much visual mods.
I come from a Galaxy S2 from day1 and i flashed it with many many roms and every time i flashed new rom it was full of modded apk and tricks very usefull. Now i switched to a Note and i'm very happy with it but after tried some cooked roms i came to the conclusion that IN MY OPINION no roms can offer more than a rooted stock rom maybe with jkay mods and unused apps removed or freezed with Titanium. Why i say this? Simply because latest Notes cooked Rom doesn't offer what is important for me and i think for other users: browser with user agent in settings, phone without ascending ringtone and noise filter off by default etc. In major cooked rom i read in description: tweaked this tweaked that but i see no real speed improvement in comparison to a (rooted) stock rom where all GNote app works and not like i read in cooked rom's comment: "this app doesnt work properly, my phone suffer random reboots, that app give me fc, after some day my phone become laggy etc. So, after tried many cooked roms now i think that with a rooted odexed kl4 with jkay mod my phone isn't less smooth than a "cooked rom equipped" one except for quadrant or other benchmarks results that are only numbers and doesn't give you a real result of how smooth is your device in daily use.
With these considerations i don't want to offend nobody and developer's hard work (i'm not developer and i admire their ability) i want only know if i'm the only one to think that and (if not) to advise developers about what users would like to see in future cooked rom.
Let me know what you think and before to say you don't agree with me try stock kl4 to compare.

That's what I think also, and that's what I did.
Stock la4 with jkay mod and removed a **** load of built in apps with titanium.
My phone flies and is smooth as butter, battery life awesome, no bugs, no crashes, nothing wrong.
Pure experience...
I miss roms like the ones developed by RMK40 for the HTC Desire Z, they were pure stock and just enhanced with tweaks needed to make them perfect, no frankeinstein bizarre stuff.
When I read things like: "libraries from ICS" I'm like, WTF !!!
It's like fitting your car with parts from another car...
It might be a little faster, but could be much less reliable.
Anyway, I recognise those devs are very talented, as there is no way I could do it myself, but it's just against my religion to mix libraries from different systems.
Like the sony bravia mod... what a POS !!!

There are only two good reasons to use a custom ROM for me: Power Menu and latest firmware. So I use Sheep ROM, the least modded one.

Power menu is also customizable with jkay on stock kl4 i also use it
(I hitted "thanks" instead of "quote" in your post )

Same here l, I love Stock looks and feels, I always stay away from ROMs that have there own graphics in, like RocketROM. I am using Cassie LA3 V6.

what's the difference between VillainROM and Lite'ning Rom

Hello, I am a new guy for andriod. Now I am using the lastest offical rom which is KE7.I consider to flash a custom rom while two popular custom roms making me hard to choose, which is VillainROM and Lite'ning Rom. Is there anyone could tell me what's the differfence between these two? what is the advantage of each one? cheers
This might be quite ot,but i have never had a phone b4 that i didnt had the hurry to flash a new rom.The original rom is quite flawless in my eyes! But finally i did flash the VR1.1 rom.But honestly i dont think its worth the effort, the WOW factor isnt there. To be honest, the Samsung rom is quite finished in my eyes!I had the Optimus 2X and Galaxy S before, and they sure did needed a new rom,but the SGS2...no at this point you dont need it.I might be flamed now but i think ur better of NOT flashing a new rom, just unroot and wait !There sure will be better alternatives later, but as of now...no it dont!
thank u for ur suggestion

This really in the past all Android phones I have owned have been dire out the box and the roms always made them better but apart from running an alternative launcher I think its pretty much perfect rom.

If you're happy with stock, there's little point in using a custom ROM.
If you want the kind of tweaks I do to ROMs, like removing silly battery warnings, or letting you send longer SMSs to more people, then use VR1.1.
TBH there's no need to use a custom ROM on this phone unless you want these kinds of tweaks, as tbh this phone is good enough out the box

Does the Villain Tweasks work on the offical firmware? cuz I intall it but does not work on my phone in terms of 'prevent the notification when full charged'.
Just try them both, how long is that really going to take?, I have and prefer Villain simply because I am not big on lightnings theme.
Heh, it's funny how we all have different tastes. I love Litening's theme and it's the only reason I use it. As Pulsar said his opens up so extra tweaks. If you don't have a pressing reason to flash, stick with stock, but maybe root if you need to.
Honestly, Samsung has indeed made a really good work with android 2.3.3. But I took Lightning because I like when there's a theme behind all the software. Like same color, or the similar design which make it good-looking.
I haven't tried Villain, since Litening 1.4 is my first romflashing experience. However, compared to the stock unrooted rom in my Galaxy S II, I think Litening has added significant value to my phone. This includes, but is not limited to:
SMB-shares using Samba
Allows you to access your phone's internal memory and SD card over your WiFi as a shared folder. That way you'll never have to connect your phone by USB to manage files.
Vastly improved sound quality on video recordings
Potatoman has a released a modified version of the camera app, which increases the audio resolution on video recordings from 16 KHz to 44 KHz resulting in clearer and cleaner audio. His mod also allows you to silent the camera (disabling shutter sounds and clicks) and increase the video bitrate (although the effect is negliable).
Improved batterylife
Litening will root the phone, allowing you to get rid of Samsungs bundled apps. Once they are removed, they no longer litter in the background.
Video and voice over Google Talk
Litening features an updated version of Google Talk, which allows you to place free voice and video calls over Googe Talk.
Carrier branding goes away
Some carriers have modified the original firmware to disable certain options, for instance 3 has disabled the option to switch between 2G and 3G mode. Logically, Litening does not incorporate these branded limitations.
Minor user interface improvements
Litening features a modified blue theme, which IMHO looks cool. It features an improved battery icon and a snazzy animation when the screen is turned off.

I'm new here too! I tried both and they both preform perfectly. Although, from personal experience I found the villianrom to have overall battery life but lite'ning to be more stable with a focus on performance.
I am currently on villainrom lite (bloat removed) with the nimphetamine kernel as I find the battery life to be more important to me.
If you want UI overhaul and improved usability, I recommend MIUI. To be honest, it's the only ROM I find greatly improves the way you use the phone.

Exactly. There's no rush to flash a new rom because the original Samsung rom is quite ok for me. Wait for a few months and there'll be a lot of better alternatives and CM is getting better and better everyday.

[Q] Bad question: which ROM to flash?

I feel embarrassed to have to ask this, and I know a lot of people hate this type of post. I want a suggestion for what custom ROM to flash.
I started flashing about 5 months ago with Darky's ROM. And now I like my phone. ( I won't say love, because I love my parents, my children, StarTrek, BSG, hot girls, and icecream and that's it). BUT, the more I flash, the more I get annoyed with the gliches. Darky's 10.1 didn't have working GTalk (w/ Camera), and sometimes has some bugs. I lately flashed Ruyyo EDB1.1 (JVP ROM), but sometimes the phone restarts or crashes, and every 3 days or so, SOMETHING runs down the battery (meaning, the phone over-heats, acts slow, and loses all battery in 5 hours). That might be because of an app, but I think its on the rom. The main apps I use are HandcentSMS, ADW-Ex, and Multi-picture live wall paper. And Gmail (which is FCing every time I restart the phone)
Now there are so many ROMs out, I don't know which one to get. All say they are stable and fast...and I'm sure for many people they are. But I am searching for suggestins. I cannot try out many because I live in China, and because of the damn stupid retarded Great Firewall of China, all downloads of ROMs from Multi-upload are slow (and I need special software to access that site).
So...I'm looking for a ROM which is really stable, which I do not need to do a wipe-flash with and can install with CWM. I would prefer that it use the same lag-fix solution as the Darky ROM so that I can go back to it when they update ...but as I don't every actually activate the lag-fix, probably does not matter.
I'm looking for a ROM which must have voodoo sound (the ability to use my phone with my own AKG earphones without having to unplug said earphones when I answer a call is what convinced me to keep the SGS instead of getting an iPhone4... so this is critical)
I need my ROM to support live wallpapers, so that I can use my LCARS wallpaper with multi-pic.
I prefer my ROM to support the Samsung Music player with the integrated lock-screen widget.
I really prefer ROM which has the front-camera fixed and google-talk operating.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sounds very much like what I am looking for also. I am on Darky at the moment as well. I just want a good, fresh and 100% stable ROM.
- I need root
- Lagfix would be nice
- Needs to be able to work well with Launcher Pro Plus
- Good battery life
- BLN essential
We all need roms that are stable, fast, and with a good battery life... I think I've tried all main SGS roms, but at the end I think I'll stick with MIUI.
I liked Darky's rom, but I've got too many force-closes... maybe it was my fault because I didn't flash it correctly.
But for a month or so I've used MIUI... it's the fastest rom... You've got tons of lockscreens.. including samsung's (I think). Battery life it's not the best, but the devs are really working on making this rom perfect. For example.. for Galnet... this week 2 updates came out, and we're waiting for a big one friday.
My advice: give MIUI a try and you won't be disapointed

There are three reasons why I did not try MIUI. BUT, my reasons may be flawed.
1. In my understanding, MIUI is based on Cryogen (or something like that), which requires that I flash (wipe-flash?) a Froyo ROM first. Which means that I have to download two huge files through the Great FireWall of China. I know that's a lame reason...but that's a fair amount of work for me. Not to mention reloading all my apps.
2. In my understanding, CM (and hence MIUI) does not have the Voodoo sound and does not have the Samsung Music app. The music app is not so big a deal because (in my understanding), CM and MIUI have their own in-notification-bar music controls (which is why I like the Samsung music app). However, I need Voodoo sound in order to allow use of my own headphone while talking on the telephone.
3. In my understanding, MIUI is supposed to look like iOS, which I do not like.
Please let me know if my understandings are wrong.
I also didn't try it because I don't want to flash an updated version twice a week. I want a good working ROM from the start with no need to update until the next Android version comes out.
I am oso on darky's rom previously but having same issue. Then tried Tweaky's rom and Juwe's rom too. Juwe's rom is fast but its bit dull colored and lack of sgs2 apps like Tweaky's rom.Now I am using my own rom base on JVP with Talon kernel with OC, actually it's a mix and match of Tweaky n Juwe's rom. Everything is working so far with some sgs2 apps, tw4, gtalk with video call.Flash n wipe is a must for a start. If u r interested I can post a link for u.

best looking rom, fast and reliable its galnet mui. Battery life it;s not great yet but galnet its working hard to fix.
i think that after flashing couple of roms you will decide.

I tried most of these roms. I tried to play dungeon defenders with some roms. Holy.. that was very laggy and and unplayable. Now I'm on MIUI 2.2 rom. I tried dungeon defenders again. Wow.. Smooth and smooth... all FPS are X2 on quadrant. My device clock is 1600 mhz max as default as miui. Sometimes it stucks and restarts. But galnet works really hard. And battery is not the best ok. But thats worth it. You can download different themes with theme manager. Also there is an air update app for muiu. Which updates your device latest miui. I l

Why factory reset? Why not just do no-wipe flash with CWM?
Part of my problem is that there are a lot of ROMs, and if I'm wiping everytime I do a new ROM, its takes quite a while to restore to full functionality...albiet the end result may be more stable.

So you are saying that you had better battery life with others, and MIUI sometimes gets stuck, but you like MIUI because its faster for games and themes? That's not really what I need (although I do like the notification options I saw on it has). I am more not into this because I'm not into having to Flash back to Froyo in order to install.

Hearing this, I'm tempted to bite the bullet and go through the CM7 install proceedure. I then will have to upload the google apps and the new google talk. But the end result may be pretty cool (assuming does not drain battery more than other ROMs). Thanks for the info.
MIUI rom doesnt stuck and restarts as your think. Battery life is not horrible. You can control your headset in miui with different module like voodoo sound. I think thats the best rom to stick now. You can get air updates and you dont need to wipe your data for updates. Just give it a try. I guess you will like it.

Thank you. I don't think it gets stuck. Its just that you said in previous post "Sometimes it stucks and restarts." I may try this out. I think I'm going to wait and see what this JVQ-based ROM is like before I do any ROM which requires a wipe.
Slightly off-topic...About my phone...I'm not sure, but I think sometimes the heavy battery drain and restarts are caused by Handcent SMS. I downloaded an app called "OSMonitor" It showed that sometimes Android System is continuously using 40% of CPU, and at those times, Handcent is using 50% of CPU. I guess I should delete Handcent and see if my phone gets better stability and performance. Seems maybe the stability problems were might be blamed in the wrong place. BUT...I really like Handcent...
I'm in a similar situation and decided the only way to get what I want is to put it together myself. This also means you probably wont have the latest and greatest because they might be cool but not always the most stable.
What you can do is, get a deodexed stock rom, install a stable kernel with the mods you need (voodoo, bln, rooted and busybox etc) than use Titanium backup to remove all the things you don't want. presto, you'll have what you wanted...
I think the best option is CM7.
Greetings.
I have CM7 and must re-charge every 8h... Moderate use. Are other ROMs better battery-wise?

[POLL] Which is the smoothest one?

I have been using Wolf's GB ROM for 10 days now.
It is not only really smoother than stock SE GB rom, but also so stable. Really, it was a child's play for me to install it (actually it was also my first custom ROM) just like using a stock rom..
Now,
I'm happy with this rom at the moment but i want to try a couple more roms. I'm a little bit obsessed about smoothness of the phone.
Which one would you chose as the smoothest if you have to?
Please answer the poll if you have tried at least two of them..
Further reviews, ups and downs and advices are accepted..
1. Wolfs TW Gingerbread ROM
2. Blue Sparks
3. VMOD V5
4. ThGo2
5. Cyanogenmod
First of all, you forgot T.E.A.M. ROM in the poll.

That's the case with all custom ROMs, installing them is as simple as flashing one or two zips in recovery.
I find that installing a custom ROM is actually simpler than flashing stock with SEUS/PC Companion/FlashTool.

In my humble opinion, which is based on experience since I myself am working on tweaking stock SE ROM for the past 4 months or so, a stock-based ROM is, at the end of the day, a modified but still stock ROM.
Granted there are the popular "tweaks" which are basically scripts that run on startup to optimise mostly the internal Android task killer and/or some kernel parameters, etc. The very core of the ROM, in most, if not all, cases remains the same. That way, my advice is to find a ROM that combines an acceptable by your personal taste level of "smoothness" (which is a purely relevant term, as it cannot be measured accurately), graphical enviroment and features.
Each user will probably give you a different answer because user experience may differ due to countless factors (apps installed, general way and purpose of using the phone). Gamers would mostly prefer a "stripped" ROM with minimal apps to leave them with space and memory for intense gaming. IMers (people using the phone mainly to communicate by mail, SMS, instant-messaging) will most of the times not notice performance improvements between ROMs because said apps are generally light-weight.
For a totally different experience, for example, Cyanogen could very well be your answer.
It is by default much smoother to SE ROMs, alas there might be things missing or not working at all, along with certain inconveniences.
So, it all comes down to what you want to do with your phone and what you feel is better. As with everything in life, obsession is never a good thing. At the end of the day, you want to be using your phone and not flashing it and setting it up from scratch every other day, right? And, let me say, that a poll will never help you as much as flashing and using the ROMs yourself.
Good luck!
Agreed...
cyanogen is great because it uses minimal system resources. It is a nice light, basic alternative, and therefore is quite fast.
As usual Iris explained it so well that a further answer isn´t really neccesary
Just a few summarised words; When you prefer a ROm where everything is working choose a ROM based on stock because just there everything is working especially the camera. Just there you have the Sony Ericcson camera app where you have features that aren´t available in real Custom ROMS.
In this case I can recommend you T.E.A.M Rom. It is very fast, beautiful and the support is awesome. But yeah....Iris mentioned that, too
When your priority isn´t the camera but best battery life and smoothness I can recommend you Tatsuo´s CM7 ROM running with his own kernel.
And where is MIUI? I happy with this ROM

Uhm, ... wrong. I want to flash and set it up every other day, sometimes even 2-3 times a day
Admitted, my desire to flash is greatly reduced since I use T.E.A.M ROM. But FXP046 will be a definite go for me and hell, I LOVE to play with many different ROMs. I have to admit that I reduced the apps I always install to a minimum and only install more apps if I plan to stay a little longer (--> T.E.A.M).
So, seeing it from this point of view, I make the worst out of my smartphone because I rarely can use its full potential. But who cares, flashing is fun

need a good custom rom for galaxy s2

I need a good custom ROM, simple, yet with a lot of new features.
I tried CM7, but it still has a lot of bugs and it's a very complex process to install and uninstall. And I did not like the UI.
I need a good rom, as I am currently in stock rom.
Have a look through the forums and you'll find plenty. Decide for yourself. There's threads asking for "best ROM" every day, and best is subjective.
is there a thread with all of the known roms?
Just look in the forums for threads with [ROM] at the start.
cm7 and miui are the only real custom ones.. otherwise look at check rom revolution, it's one of the best based of the stock rom and then install a custom launcher for a decent UI
For starters you may want to look at Cognition or VillainROM as they are based on stock firmware with a few tweaks.
Litening is pretty good too.
Just test a few out until you find one you like ;-)

Don't be a ****. the guy is probably new here and wants some advice, not abuse. tbh i've been on here a while and it's still a question that pops up in my head from time to time.
I've used Power + 2.0 SP1 which has ceased development. Battery life is excellent, nearly 2 days standby, and basically the original ROM.
then I've tried VillianRom 3.0 and it's basically the same, just has VRtweaks which is an app to download minor tweaks to the system.
I'm running Miui 1.11.11 totally different, has a Android / iPhone feel to it. very nice, Battery life is above average. worth ago in m opinion but I do miss the Camera from the original ROM. You can theme the phone via the themes option which is nice, and you can install Go Launcher which makes it look like any other Android on the Desktop, but once you use the dialer, sms, settings etc it's still very Miui.
I think the real answer is there all very similar with devs personal opinion of needed changes, ROMs based on the original are strangely enough like the original, and ROMs like Cyanogenmod are like a Google Nexus, i.e. AOSP(sp?) then Miui is a totally different concept based on it's own look style and performance.
Personally i'm awaiting the ICS ROMs dev will be soon knocking out. I never found Android perticularly polished compared to say an iPhone, ICS seems to bring this forward some i'm quite excited. but in the meantime, Miui might fill that gap. Otherwise your stuck with the current ROM

Don't be a ****. the guy is probably new here and wants some advice, not abuse. tbh i've been on here a while and it's still a question that pops up in my head from time to time.

I'm not a ****. I'm just not patient with people. Yes, maybe I'm a ****. But what does he expect? 100 people just coming in here and share their favorite ROM? Would he be then able to pick one from those? Would he count how many votes does each ROM received? Why not go for popularity then, and check which ROM thread has the most views, at least he would get a larger sample, even if won't give him too much information. Would the answers be subjective? Does he expect a short review from all of us for all the ROMs we tried? What happens if the first 10 persons who respond are total morons who only picked the worst ROMs ever?
I see persons like him, I imagine a random lazy guy who bought his phone because it was cool. He is not satisfied with what he got, so he thought he wants more "new features". He has no idea what "new features" the "new ROMs" can bring, but since there are so many ROMs, they can't all be the same, right? Some of them have to have some shiny lasers or whatever! But how does he find that exact ROM? Let's create a new thread, and ask which is the ROM with the most shiny new laser!!1. But it has to be simple. CM7 was too complex and buggy. At least that's what he heard, he didn't find any, except he couldn't play the fullHD porn on his phone anymore . So let's see what others recommend, so we can install it in a simple way. Because if it's not simpler than 3 clicks, he will ask 10 questions on how to install it. And after everything is working correctly, he won't like the ROM, because it's not shiny enough. Eventually he will find a ROM which has an included shiny theme, and he will think his ROM is full of features! ... oh **** I gotta go back to work.
Well, maybe I over-analyzed the situation a bit, in which case I would have one suggestion: search for the similar threads on these forums, you will find many, and see what people have answered...
WajkIUI ROM
I've had this ROM on my SGS2 for about two days now. It's called "WajkIUI ROM". And it's the best I've ever flashed to my device. It has a whole new look, it extends the battery life, the sytem apps are customized, you can change the theme of the ROM as well, and it just has a new overall feel to it.
You just have to try it for yourself. Below is the link to the xda thread. Hope you LOVE it like I do.

[Q] My Galaxy Note is cursed !

Hi !
I am truly cursed, and I'm tired...
With my Galaxy S, I found a ROM that I like quite quickly.
But with this Galaxy Note, none of the ROM are OK...
MySam => Bugs, Laggy, Reverse screen (CRT bug)
Romow => Reverse screen, wifi disconnect
DarkyNote => Many bugs...
2.3.6 Deodexed STOCK XXKL3 + Abyss 2.4 => Very hot, with SD Card, Messages application crash the phone...
Stock ROM + Root => No realy optimized ;(
So I have a question for you, my Galaxy Note is haunted ?
Do you have a recent ROM, with no lags, no useless applications, WITHOUT ANY BUGS, root, and fast ?
Thx for all, and sorry for my translated english :/
Merry Christmas !

If your Note is not faulty when using the original ROM then you cannot blame the Note. I don't think any manufacturer guarantees the operation of their phones other than with their own ROM.
First of all, Merry Christmas!
No, I don't believe your Note is at fault. In a span of 12 months, I've owned the Galaxy S, S2 and finally the Note. Based on my experience with the other two phones, almost none of the ROMs suit me. The best would be a deodexed rom with bloatware removed and nothing else, for the S2. The other ROMs either had a myriad of issues or were not aesthetically my style.
What I do now is to read up on the latest stock ROMs from the different regions. I'm from Asia, but may use a non-Asian ROM if it seems the "best" right now. So I'll install that and root it, then use Titanium and Gemini App Manager to uninstall, freeze and prevent apps from starting upon booting the phone. This works the best for me, and it may work for you too.
In the meantime, there are more ROMs coming out, hopefully one or two will suit you if you really prefer that to stock.
Have you tried Cassie's XtraLiteRom KL3 ThunderBolted?
It removes all the useless Samsung-included apps and lets you with a very small and fast ROM. The only problem I have seen is with the maket not letting you purchase new apps, but that has been solved.
I'm running that since a week ago and I have no intention of changing. Too customized ROMs (to change the icons, colors, etc), usually have serious bugs that make something fundamental not working.
I have been dealing with cooked ROMs for years, in Windows Mobile and now Android. And have seen this many times. New customized ROM, flashy icons, animations... it's just that FM Radio no longer works, or WiFi disconnects, or GPS signal is very bad...
Just give me stock ROM rooted, with all bloatware removed.
Roms
Dude, these roms are still in development, you cant install a custom rom and expect perfection.
Have you any idea how long it takes developers to produce the next build, ie, ICS 4.0, which quickly became 4.03?
This is what software development is all about, wether its microsoft windows, fifa 2012 or sheep rom, it makes no odds, software cant be perfected at the very first attempt, which is why these guys at XDA continually develop and improve on their work, they are a godsend to this community and we should be thanking and praising them, not moaning coz of a bug in the rom, So THANYOU, to all you guys developing and releasing candidates for us to try, it is, greatly appreciated.
I have to add on one final note, that i have tried Rocket rom, Sheep rom and a couple of deodexed roms with tweaks, overall, there may be slight noticeable changes, but all in, not enough to warrant ditching stock kka.
BUT, I HAVE NOT, come across any issues running these customs, all roms ran smoothly on my Note without any signs of bugs.
IMPORTANT to note, no matter what instructions you use for installation, it is always important to wipe the dalvik and cache and, do a factory reset after installation, some people think its not essential, but ive always found the factory reset erases any possible conflicts with the new rom intergrating with left over data from the previous rom, FACTORY reset always gets rid of most issues people are having.
#Merry xmas to all and to all you developers, keep up the good work guys, were seeing some awesome stuff being produced, many thanks...

Of course, the developers for SGS1 and SGS2 are so many more, the work is so much more beautiful, for a SGS2, first ROM downloaded Sensation1.5, worked perfectly the first time and finally, she turns for 3 weeks, no worries . This is what I'm looking for GNote, a simple ROM, close to the traditional, with options for advanced customization (themes, tray, etc ...), yet very optimized and 100% reliable and stable ...
And of course, Merry Christmas to our developpers
stock
in that case, stick to stock GB and download themes instead, or just wait for ics because i imagine work on gb will come to a halt then.
Now, i'm on Cassie's XtraLiteRom KL3 ThunderBolted v4, no problems (but my phone is in charge, with SMS restore (go SMS pro), battery 6% > 1%.
No FC (only TW, removed), it's Ok !
I can now go on holiday ! ^^

Hope it goes well for you.
I came from the original galaxy s and can say the best custom roms have only just started to come out after a year and a bit it will be the same on here. Most of the guys who create sgs 2 roms came from the galaxy s arena so had a good head start. There are some great people on here creating great roms with a wide variety of ROM types to suit different peoplesneeds. But in time we will have better bases to work on, bugs ironed out and more ROM chefs, and that can only be good for the end user, we just need a little time before the creativity starts to stream ahead

hear hear
his point ?
Patience, as the man said, it takes time, and by the time great roms have been perfected on GB, the android guys will have gone from ICS to something more spectacular, like Android 4.5 codename Banana milkshake or something even more ridiculous than ice cream sandwich..

Listen to this guy. I support rom cookers' attitudes, spending time tweaking and making things "better" and sharing it with people. However, in the end I always prefer stock with bloatware gone, than a rom with new features but with buggy inconsistent side-effects.
Cassie's XtraLiteRom KL3 ThunderBolted is a good rom, I use it as well.
