Hi, i am stuck in bootloop after flashing a kernel over TH ICS. I can't seem to find a right ClockworkMod Recovery where I can either restore my nandroid backups (i am getting md5 checksum failed) or where i can flash the rom again. i am getting assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys" whenever i try to do that.
so far i tried to flash cm7-galaxys-initial-kernel.tar with odin, but i cant get into clockworkmod recovery with that one. that i think i tried darkys recovery FixRecovery.tar, but thats where almost nothing works, no nandroid restore and no flashing of new roms.
can someone point me to the right directions? i am missing my phone :-(
haha thx
Reflash to stock with odin. Download the stock rom you want. Use 512 pit file and check repartition.

Hi all, I screwed up running an update to my ROM, recovered through Odin (again ha), flashed back to stock, rooted successfully, and installed Clockwork, but whenever I try flashing my ROM through ROM Manager, the phone reboots right, then gives me the "E: failed to verify whole-file signiture E: Signiture verification failed"
I just want to get back on BlackHole :\ I searched around but either people figured it out and didnt explain, or the problems variables were too far apart from mine. I have tried removing and reinstalling clockwork, and I have tried redoing the entire process to the same result.
Any insight?
I want to add that I'm not flashing Clockwork through Odin, because the files aren't available on the forum anymore. Is this the error?
You need to flash the cwrecovery.tar file, which enables you to flash zips signed with test keys. Look in the thread about flashing clockwork on win/*nix.

You're doing it right, just missing one step. Installing clockwork mod through rom manager only downloads the update.zip file for it to your sdcard, you have to flash the cwm compatible stock recovery through odin. the file can be found here:
www.androiddoes.net/sonofskywalker3/CWMrecovery.tar

Excellent, I figured as much but since I couldn't find it anywhere I assumed it had been changed.
BEAUTIFUL. Thank you. Looking forward to running your 3.0. I was on 1.4 or something.
hi guys
i rooted S2 by this guide inspiredgeek.com/2011/04/30/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-sii-s2-using-odin-and-superoneclick-step-by-step-guide/
it worked fine,
downloaded ROM manager app, flash clockworkmod recovery, selected S2, successfully downloaded clockworkmod recovery. then reboot to recovery via CWM app.
went to the recovery with menu

android system recovery <3e>
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

i have no idea why it wouldnt work on S2
any help would be brilliant thanks
Install one of these kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
thanks for the reply, that's funny cos i am actually already looking at this thread
but the problems is the last of kernal name like KG1 etc, but my is 2.6.35.7.I19100XWKDD-CL161513
[email protected]#2
so i dont know which kernal to use, which one would you suggest?
thanks again
Hmm interesting, that's a fairly old firmware without a cfroot kernel, try installing kies and see if there's a firmware upgrade for your phone.
i am really confused now,
opened kies software, detected S2, then what? there is no option to see if there is newer firmware or whatever
thanks again
Actually forget about kies. Download the latest kh3 firmware and flash it in download mode, then flash the cf-root kh3 kernel.
got the email notification from you, you said forget the odin hehe
so i flash kh3 firmware via odin yes?
1) Install Kies(only install it, do not run it or Odin will not work)
2) Download odin 1.85
3) Set phone to usb debugging (settings > applications > development > usb debug
4) open odin (and mount the firmware tar file or files, see specific threads for how and or what)
5) Shut down your phone and reboot it into download mode
6) Flash through odin

That's what i would do, place the CORE file as PDA, MODEM file as PHONE and any one of the CSC files as CSC. After its installed flash the cf-root kernel.

no no, I meant he needs to install kies, thats it. He should not have kies running in the background or even running in the windows tray at all, when flashing with odin. Edited my post to make it more clear
When I rooted mine, all I had to do was to flash an insecure kernel (you can get much newer versions now than the KDD, up to even KH1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671&highlight=insecure+kernel), then use superoneclick to root. Superoneclick will flash in CWM recovery for you, so after superoneclick, just reboot straight into recovery. No need to flash anything else unless you want the CWM Rom Manager app.
Superoneclick doesn't give you clockworkmod recovery, you need a CWM kernel, as in samsung land recovery and kernel live in the same happy little place.
Newer stock firmware+cf-root is the easiest way, you may lose your app data though, so backup (try titanium backup, only restore user app data or data in green)
thanks for the replies
i downloaded the KH3 rar file, extracted to a folder. see the screenshot in attachment
which ones?
thanks again

OMG!!! I've got the same problem with you.
I had the same thing, what i did was from the cwm app i downloaded the latest cm7 nightly, once installed and it pops up skiing do i want to instal and wipe etc i clicked yes, the phone rebooted and an android symbol appears and nothing happened.
So i long pressed the power button to switch it off, when i switched it back on, the phone starts installing cm7, once that completes, everything was normal how it should be.

This thread FAQS/Guide/Additional Info For Rooting S2 - High level summary have helped me on rooting and getting CWM.
Always try to follow the guides here on XDA, not from some other websites/blogs
I have the AT&T version of the GS2, and I rooted the phone a while ago. I still have the stock ROM on it, and I would like to flash CM7. I tried using RomManager, but I got this error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I have CWM Recovery 3e version 5.x and I think this might have something to do with it. I tried downloading the 99mb ROM manually from CM7 and putting it on my SD card. Even when I try to flash it manually by booting into recovery mode, I get the above error.
Has anyone had any luck flashing ROMS on their AT&T GS2 using CWM Recovery 5? Also does anyone know a way to disable the signature verification? I think their was a way to do that in CWM 4...
Thanks for any help, I'm pretty lost here.

There's your first problem, this forum is for the internation sgs2 not the att version.
I tried using RomManager

And here's your second problem, rom manager can't flash anything through a 3e recovery. You need to flash a kernel that has cwm already built in. And if you flash any kernel from the i9100 your buttons will be messed up, head on over the att forum and find a kernel.
So I was an idiot and used a ROM found on xdadevelopers and each time I try to flash the ROM in CWRM it says installation aborted. I wiped and erased the phone before doing this.Basically i'm stuck with my Nexus 4 in CWRM without a ROM installed or a ROM that can be flashed without an errors. Is there a way to side-load a rom or access the phone in CWRM to add a new rom?
The rom is the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516389
Help is much appreciated, thanks.

Two choices (of many) but first, try flashing twrp, then try the rom. Or re-flash cwm and try again.

At first try flashing latest twrp img from fastboot mode and then try flashing the rom again.
You might want to give a try to the multi-rom twrp.
If it fails again you can always flash factory img.

Flash factory image, meaning restore the phone back to stock and removing the root/bootloader?
Right now that sounds more appealing to me than trying to figure all of this our to be honest.

Thanks for the suggestion.
[SOLVED]
Small problem, no actually a big one when installing Cyanoid SDMerge 15.4 on my LGE400.
I successfully installed Cyanoid Standard 15.4 and am trying to upgrade to SDMerge using the steps found on the Google site of Cyanoid. I have these three files on my external SD: SDMergE400_Step1.zip SDMergE400_Step2.zip cyanoid15.4sdmerge.zip, first two from given link and last one from ROM Manager.
First I actually found that _ExternalSD on the phone is actually a map and not my SD Card, as I put in the SD Card into the computer I was not able to see the cyanoid154sdmerge.zip I put on it using the phone's file explorer. When storing the other two files on my SD Card using my computer, I could not see them when going to _ExternalSD in my phone's file explorer.
I thought: Let's put those three files in both directories in case it might matter which directory will be chosen by recovery.
Now when I click on install SDMergE400_Step1.zip ; the thing says failed. No idea why, no idea how to solve.
It says: (Not everything is readable)
Updating partition details...
E:Resource type (image) failed to
Installing '/emmc/_ExternalSD/SDMe
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file fo
assert failed: getprop("ro.product
E:Error executing updater binary in
Error flashing zip '/emmc/_External
So ehm, what do to next?
Thanks in advance.
Does no one have an idea on how to install SDMerge on my E400 given the problems above? I forgot to mention that this package failure did not brick my phone so I am still looking for a way to install SDMerge.
Thanks in advance.

So first wich recovery are you using?
Anyway re-download the files and download Cyanoid Rom from XDA...

Oh you remind of one more other strange thing: On first boot, back at the stock rom of my LGE400GO, ROM Manager automatically installed CWM recovery. When I restart Cyanoid into recovery, I get to see TeamWin Recovery Project v2.7.0.0. What went wrong? Might it be this recovery that does not allow me to install SDMerge? Is there a way to change recoveries or should I do a total reinstall of Cyanoid?
I found out that it is possible to revert to CWM recovery, yet when I select to do so the phone gets stuck on Flashing.... (ClockWorkMod Recovery)
Used this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405279 to install CWM recovery using the Terminal for Android, it worked. This means that I know run the latest version of CWM recovery. I am going to try the SDMerge installation with this.
It worked. I was able to install step1.zip and step2.zip using CWM recovery. Installed SDMerge after that. Now my phone is rebooting, let's see if it worked. It is booting so I did at least not brick it. Though it is taking a bit long for Cyanoid for start, I think it worked. I will edit this post later this evening if it succeeded. EDIT: It booted. It is still slow, but it booted. This means that I now have Cyanoid 15.4 SDMerge installed.
Thanks.
