Force YouTube to play 720p - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Is it possible to force the youtube app play 720p!?
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7000 mit Tapatalk

I've wondered this, because when you press the hq button I'm pretty sure its not Even hd, becasethe picture is still pixelated. I have to go on the proper YouTube to watch hd stuff

The YouTube application has setting "play videos on high quality ", if that's not 720p, so open a web browser preferably Dolphin HD as desktop agent. And treat YouTube as you would on a normal pc, just change to 720p

HQ is 5xxp, not 720. Use tubemate, allows you to download movies in any resolution, inclusing full hd.

Use JetVD, it streams 720P YouTube to your phone using the native Samsung video player.
www.jetvd.com

Yeah, the stock YouTube app is a piece of garbage. Do like Qvp says and go to the full YouTube site with a browser with user agent settings (Dolphin, Boat, Opera etc.)
Remember that you can press and hold on the videos and switch to fullscreen.

you can downgrade your YouTube to 2.1.6. it's 720p.

Yes, ICS YouTube app supports 720P but you have to wait till ICS. You can't install it on the Note yet because ICS-native apps won't run on Gingerbread.
Use JetVD.

ok thank you so much
The screen on the xoom can only display 720p content, as it does not have enough pixels to give you the full 1080. So it is easier to watch videos in the lower resolution (still use mobo), as it draws less resources to do so.

720p videos in Youtube app

Hi,is there a way to stream 720p (instead of HQ which is 540p i guess) in youtube app?
The only way i tried is by browser,it's ok but it's difficoult to touch the commands...
I was looking for a third parties app or an hack of the original app

In short, at this time, no.
Just use the browser to watch 720p YouTube. The hardware acceleration works flawlessly and it runs silky smooth!
Tip: you have trouble hitting the full screen button on the lower right of the video, just long-press once the video loads up, and an overlay should appear which lets you full-screen easier.
Even if I use the browser I get that ridiculously crappy 360p, it just loads m.youtube.com and I can't leave it.
What am I doing wrong? Only way I've ever watched 720p youtube have been embedded videos. The difference is not even funny, how come there's no third party app for this? It's insane.
You have two choices. One is download an app call JetVD, you can google it and download it right fron your phone. The next option is download a browser like Dolphin Browser from the google market and select it to render websites as it would if you were browsing on a desktop. Both ways will net you 720p but the Dolphin Browser will get you 1080p if you care for it lol

JetVD is not on market.
I normally use Tubemate to watch or download youtube video.
you can choose 360-1080p video to watch and also can download them which is awesome for me. Tubemate is available on market or you can google it.

Probably it is frowned upon for downloading youtube videos, i had a rom once that had an in youtube download option and the dev several times got a youtube email stating they would like him to use the stock one.
On the url place of the browser type ABOUT:USERAGENT then on the menu that comes choose desktop now go to every page and it shown as it would be on your home pc

The standard Nexus 7 is not supplied with Flash. Yeah, I know Google decided not to include it because it is yesterday's technology! However it can easily be sideloaded. Just google it. Make sure you install. Version 11.1.115.11. There are problems with some of the other versions floating around.
Have you tried another player like "dice player" or "mx player"?

Thanks,
1. I wasn't talking about flash at all but the Web Video Player itself
If I download these apps, will it replace thw video player on Chrome?

You'll have your choice between the player you install (mx is a good one too) and stock. They won't "replace" stock though, it'll still be an option.

Launch YouTube app within chrome?

Is there anyway to do this? I don't usually want to watch the video in the embedded browser. I want too use YouTube app. Makes sharing video to tv ect a lot easier.

Clear defaults for the YouTube app. Then next time you launch a YouTube video from the browser choose open with YouTube then, always.

This doesn't work anymore. Clear defaults is grayed out and it appears that the video plays within the browser now. Aosp browser included. Maybe html5?

Mines doesn't. It plays it in the browser, nothing comes up asking if I want to continue in Chrome or Browser or YouTube. Clear Defaults is grayed out. Hmm let me try clearing browser
edit: nope.
Clear defaults isn't grayed out for me. All stock, never been rooted 4.2.1
Mine doesn't give the option to set what to use it always jumps to youtube app, which is annoying, since I would prefer to read comments sometimes while watching the tinny portrait version in the browser..
Clearing chrome or youtube doesnt make a difference for me. 4.2 stock.
Very awkward that we all have different results lol

When I am in mobile chrome site and go to watch a youtube it shows in the browser and when I am in the desktop mode and go to watch a youtube it goes to the youtube app.
If you click the play button it will play within the browser, if you click the title of the video on top it will launch the youtube app at least this is the behavior on mine.
ok so you guys are getting conflicting results opening vids from the browser because your telling the video to play a different way, and also it depends on how the video is coded into the sight. if the website your on has the video embedded and you just click the play symbol on it, it will most likely play in the browser. if you click the youtube link in the bottom that actually takes you from watching the embedded youtube vid to watching it on the youtube website, then it will give you the option to either play in the browser or in the youtube app. also, some websites automatically see that your using an android so they will link you to the youtube website automatically.
I can tell you that regardless of where I touch my original unit. It would load via youtube app and never in the browser. Stock 4.2. My replacement unit plays in the browser.

MX Player?

Hi,
So got my i9505 today, previously had the i9100.
I've got an issue, whereby when I am in a browser and I want to play a video, MX player doesn't play despite being set as the default player, instead it's video player that plays the video.
I've reset defaults for MX and set it as default again, to no avail... I can't seem to disable the Video Player app in App Management as I'm sure that would probably work... I'm guessing I'd have to be rooted... Which I don't really want to do just yet.
Anyone got any suggestions or advice?
Thanks in advance!

So stock player plays the video? You should be able to deselect it as default

Say a video from Facebook will play on MX player. But a video I've found on say pornmd or pornhub in the browser(yeah I watch porn lol) it plays on stock video app, any ideas?

Whenever I go to settings > more > Application Manager > all
I choose video player, and everything is greyed out, can force stop only...which results it starting up again when video is played.
I can't disable it, can't even untick show notifications.
This is the International S4.
See screenshot.

Yeah, just played around with Firefox and Dolphin and they seem to have it as it should be.
So to disable the stock video player, i'd have to root, then I can freeze it?
(rather not really root a phone i've hard barely a day, was waiting for root and customization when I get bored of TouchWiz).

The default browser on the S4 is based on Chrome, not the AOSP browser. That's why flash doesn't work, why clicking two close links shows a magnifier like Chrome, and why scrolling sucks in it.
