Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant [i9000M BELL] - Vibrant General

Hello XDA community,
Lend me your ear..eyes.
I have relentlessley been trying to find a way to flash my phones rom to a ICS port but scouering the internet, hard it has been (Yoda Voice).
I am hoping that someone who has been able to sucessfully flash ICS on a Bell Vibrant [i9000m] can point me in the right direction. I see alot of i9000 guides but we all know how those end up when you try to follow them on a phone with just slight differences and I really dont want to have a *epic fail* moment and be forced to have to dust off the old Motorolla Milestone.
Whoever can help me will get will get the feeling of accomplishment and be labeled as just a nice guy, or girl.
So please XDAers show me how to use the force. The force of ODIN if necessary

-Additional Info-
The phone was sucessfully rooted using SuperOneClick v2.3.3
Model Number: GT-i9000M
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: i9000UGKG3
Build number: GINGERBREAD.GK3
Let me know if you need anything else. I am quick to respond.

Flashing Onecosmics I9000 should be fine, but this is not development so it was not supposed to be flashed here, worst case is if you flash onecosmics you will just have to flash a button mapping fix and thats it

I should have been more specific but thank you for the response. I need to actually be able to get into CWM before I can flash the ICS build. The problem here is that I have CWM on my phone but when I attempt to boot to the recovery I get an error stating 'E: Failed to verify whole-file signature' & 'E:signature verification failed' 'installation aborted'.
This leads me to believe that the current ADSR I have flashed to this phone wont let me load CWM . This is where things get a little bit tricky, the net is all over the place with explanations on how to get a recovery that might allow me to get into CWM. To be honest though I could be looking at this completely the wrong way.
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks for your help ahead of time

Anyone on here have a Bell i9000M that have been sucessfull with this?

You might actually have better luck posting this in the i9000 section. I believe the t959 and the i9000m are more dissimilar than the i9000 and the i9000m. Since t959 roms don't work on the i9000m, I would think not many i9000m owners would check this section. Best of luck in finding your answer.

[Q] ROOT Cellular South Fascinate

I just got the Fascinate with Cellular South. I would really like to get root access. I rooted my HTC Hero so im not completely new to the rooting process. I have a working ADB. If someone can point me to the right location.
Here is some info on the phone:
Hardware version: i500.04
Model:SCH-I500
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: S:i500.04 K.DJ20
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Build Number: SCH-I500.DJ20
rooted my fascinate on saturday, web page isn't letting me post the link but google: xda root fascinate. i used the super one click root about three links down the page. its was the simplest root i found to supposedly work well.
I don't know why z4root wouldn't work. Search the market. It weighed on my buddies OG Droid yesterday and he's a big chicken. The thing was bone stock until then. Hooray for peer pressure!!

Nice. Just don't do what I did and forget to install cwm by odin. And not by market or rom manager took a few day to figure that one out haha

Yes. The one-click method works on the Cellular South version.

Is CWM a Facinate ROM? From my understanding, the file structures are different between the Showcase (Cellular South) and the Facsinate... also, there is no custom recovery (that I know of) written for the Showcase, so no way to Nandroid backup.

Do you have any lagfixes installed? I got the internal memory error after flashing CWM with Voodoo applied. You'll have to remove the lagfix, possibly return to stock using Odin, then flash CWM via Odin. You should be golden from there on.
If you are using a lagfix, ditch it for jt's StupidFast kernel (11/11 stable) and one his most recent CleanROM or any other of your choice. Just my 2 cents.
EDIT: jbreak may have a point. I was referring to the VZW Fascinate. The stock and CWM Odin files may not be available for the Cell South version.
anyone give this a shot? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784691

That could be the case. From what I could find out, the Fascinate and Showcase seemed nearly identical. The Showcase actually comes from Cellular South with Verizon files still in the system folders. However, if the file structures are different that would very much so explain the issue. I tried all the above; removing lagfix, odin, etc. nothing solved it. But I got a new one
The Showcase does have a recovery. Clockwork worked fine, just the internal memory error ****ed everything up.

So does anyone have a Cellular South Showcase specific Recovery image?? Odin recovery??? And NO I haven't bricked my phone... just seeing what resources are floating around..
i have soft bricked my phone, a showcase specific recovery image is exactly what i need.
sorry for reviving a dead thread
search for showcase in fascinate dev thread. I have a post there that has the clockwork mod instructions and kernel.

Verizon fascinate galaxy s trouble

I'm a beginner with a rooted verizon fascinate gt-i9000. i tried to upgrade to darkys 9.3 rom from superclean via rom manager from the marketplace. my phone has been stuck on the boot screen with the samsung logo and gt-i900 on it. i have tried flashing to darkys 9.2 and the original i9000 rom with odin but it still goes back to the same screen. also i tried to flash cwm but it fails on odin. ive looked at many forums and tried to follow their instructions but nothing has worked. i can only get to the download mode. please help!!!
Hi,
I had a similar problem with my Samsung galaxy s i9000, flashed the wrong rom using Odin.....i tried stuff but made it worse as i am very much a learner with rooting & flashing.... as long as u can get it into download mode means it is fixable.... i ended up taking mine to a phone repair shop in.Derby & the bloke re flashed it for ¢30... i since bought a HTC desire & rooted it then downloaded rom manager which really is a safe way to flash roms. Rom manager can partition your SD card which is needed, then you download Roms directly in rom manager then it installs them.automatically....... be careful using Odin because u really can brick your phone if your not sure about how to use it........good luck

There's no Verizon i9000.
i9000 = GSM, carriers outside North America
i500 = CDMA, Verizon (USA)
Darky's = i9000. Totally incompatible.

Yeah, you have this sorta backwards. Odin is what makes it damn near impossible to brick the phone (now that we have full restore sets). ROM Manager doesn't work properly on the Fascinate, and no matter what phone you're on, it won't prevent you from wrecking your phone by flashing A ROM FOR A DIFFERENT DEVICE (which is what the original poster did).
What he needs to do is get into download mode and apply one of the full-restore Odin packages (including pit file).

Is anything from this sub-forum apply to verizon fascinate?
Just to make sure to use proper rom.
I heard canadian telus also sell fascinate. And some cdma networks over the world also can have fascinate. But this cdma networks works on different frequencies

KC1 update for i9000m (Bell Canada)

Just hooked up my i9000m to Kies and got a message telling me an update is available.
PDA: KC1 / PHONE: KC1 / CSC: KC1 (BMC)
What is it?
Froyo 2.2.1?
Gingerbread?
Has it been out for a while?
I haven't hooked up the phone since the last update which fried my SGS by the way...
Can't seem to fin any info on the forum, or anywhere else on the web for that matter, so don't flame me if I'm just too dumb to find it.
Thanx!
update it and let us know
Just installed and it's just 2.2 (not even 2.2.1) according to the phone.

anyone have a link for info on this update?
my phone disconnects each time the firmeware is about to start in Kies...don't know whats going on. Anyone with the update notice any differences?
If I installed speed mod kernal without lag fix can I just plug into kies to update or do I need to restore default kernal
Anyone care to post the firmware?
Is the modem KC1? I'm curious if we could use this modem with the leaked gingerbread!
Does the update keep the root or should I root again after it?

Anybody mind sharing the modem? This might be a replacement modem for jl2 for a lot of people.
You can extract the modem from your updated phone.
From terminal emulator or adb:
dd if=/dev/block/bml12 of=/sdcard/bml12
This will save a copy to sdcard.

you can tell if its any different by looking at the 'baseband version' - if its something newer than JL2 then the community would definitely love it!

Use my guide but with an appropriate firmware from samfirmware.
Not a hell lot you can do about the download speed. I suspect it might have something to do with hotfile - I get incredibly ****ty speed from hotfile, but not from any other file sharing service.
There should be a few threads lying around in the general section about stock roms. Try downloading from there instead of ****ty hotfile.

Before you flash anything you gotta make sure you have 2 backup plans. One is, of course, the nandroid backup. The other is having a stock firmware file you can flash with Odin in case everything goes to hell.
In my case, I have a JPU stock firmware stored on my home computer and on my work laptop. Every time I screw up so badly everything is FUBAR I go back to JPU and works like a charm.
Ah also, along with the JPU I have a CF-Root flashable file for JPU (just needs to be Froyo specific, not firmware release specific) so I can have root.
That's the only advice that hasn't been given to you already.
In reality, the Galaxy S is pretty hard to really brick. The bootloader may get corrupted but there's almost always a way out.
ok thanks guys +1

CWM Upgrade/flashing

I currently own a rooted Samsung Galaxy s 4g (SGH-T959V) running Gingerbread with ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.7 Voodoo lag fix.
I am getting pretty frustrated with the fact that I am running froyo because I can not get most of the apps I want. Plus, the Gingerbread homescreen is so slow and just looks weird. So I want to upgrade to kit kat. But I hear I have to upgrade CWM, and I have no idea how to do that.
If someone could give me the links to all the kernels and steps to do so it would be much appreciated.
Thank You!

There is like...literally no possible way you are running Froyo. It hasn't been developed in like 3 years.
As for links to all KitKat stuff, there is a search feature that will guide you to all that you need.

Do you know how to flash a one click? If you don't know how to flash one follow lumin's guide, except use the one click .jar file I linked below instead of the one he says to use in his guide. (Note the one click won't contain the bootloaders so skip that step when you get to it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
I have a one click that's only bhundven's blastoff v2.5 kernel. If you're already on gingerbread this will install the blue CWM v5 for you that will allow you to flash a kitkat rom.
http://files.fernandob.com/sgs4g/roms/heimdall_one_clicks/blastoffv2.5.jar
I recommend the cm11 (kitkat 4.4.3) builds Ive been pushing out. You can find them here, make sure you grab the latest ones (they all have dates):
