[Q] Hot swapping SD cards? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Can you hot swap SD cards on an HD2 running WP7 and DEV_STORAGE.cab?
I have two HD2's.
One I had to send in to t-mobile, but I still have the locked SD card.
I tried.... and found out, that I can not boot my new HD2 with that locked SD card, so my question is can I swap them out after I'm booted into WP7 and then unlock the sd card via the DEV_STORAGE.cab?

you cant hot swap.... sd card is WP7 storage memory... if you want swap cards you must do hard reset....
for unlock card use DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab

Thanks.. that's what I was thinking.
So just to be clear, flashing a new ROM will reformat the SD card even if it's already locked by a different WP7 ROM?

[Q] MicroSD Card Problems

Hi, I've just got WP7 on my HD2. I had it before, and the current problem was not there, but now I have installed WP7 again, ZUNE and the actual phone does not recognize my 8GB MicroSD HC Class 4 card.
Is there any way of resolving this? As I said, when I had installed WP7 before, Zune regonized the MicroSD card, but now, does not.
Thanks in advance.
I'd follow these instructions (not necessarily all the way), but installing easeus partition will give you a better understanding of whether your sd card has been formated for wp7

Just to say, I do not have an adapter.
ahha - ok, well aside from going and buying one, i'd try the following..
try re-seating sd card.. then
goto settings -> about -> reset phone.
this will reset device and wp7 will try to format the sd card..(all data will be lost obviously)
if that doesn't help, try the above with the sd card removed,(remove the sd card while in wp7, then reset)
allow it to boot up into wp7
re-insert sd card and re-set phone again.
(this is based on experience from formating my sd for dual boot)....
did you have your sd card out when you installed wp7? cause if you did then you would have to do it all over again i think in order for your phone to recognize your sd card.

[Q] flashed wm7 to phone instead of sd how to fix

i have an hd2 and flashed wm7 to the device insteadof sd card. how do i fix this all help is very appreciated thanks
Are you serious -.-? Windows PHONE 7 can only be installed on the phone (NAND)!!!
am i right in thinking you installed WP7 to the device and your SD card isnt in use?
assumeing you had the SD card plugged in when you installed it then i am affraid your SD card isnt compatible, you will need to try another card, try stick to class 2 or 4 sd cards, unfortunately there isnt a list of working cards because every card is different and may or may not work
if you didnt have the SD card in then thats why the SD card isnt used, it needs to be present when you flash it
finally, if i have got this mixed up and you want to install to only the SD card and not the phone itsself then im sorry but it cant be done yet/ if at all
its true forgot to put in the sd card all together and it flashed to device... it works but no space for anything to save. dont know what to do at the moment. flashed magldr and then ppcboy wm7 like i said works reallly well just cant save anything and access the sd
If you do a hard reset with sd card in the phone should be all set. Wouldn't have to reflash anything. Just make sure sd card is in phone then go to settings, about, and click on reset phone. Should format on first boot and everything should be all set.
Answers my question I've been looking for. If I can flash my other hd2 that the sd card socket is broken with wp7. Already running it on the one I use all the time.

[Q] Storage card not working

Hey guys,
Just bought a new Scandisk CL2 16gb to replace the 2gb which came with my phone.
When i try to boot with my new sd card i just get a error message:
"Storage card not working,
Your storage card has changed, is damaged, or is non-compliant."
Should i have done something to the sd card before inserting it? Already made a hard reset a couple of times.
When running WP7 on the HD2 the sd card must be in the phone prior to flashing the WP7 rom. Download a sd formatter, format the sd card, insert it in your HD2 then flash your WP7 rom. Now the phone should recognize the card.

Flash Android WITHOUT SD card?

Is there any way or any android roms that can be flashed WITHOUT the use of an SD card?
My SD card is currently unrecognized on my windows 7, CWM and WM6.5 after unsuccessful attempts at installing the latest WP7 Mango (I also tried unlocking my SD card, but it failed to detect card). By unrecognized I mean that the system CAN'T SEE IT AT ALL, like there is NO SD CARD INSERTED.
I heard that android 'could' recognize cards that are otherwise unrecognizable and be able to fix it. It's my last and only hope left to save my SD card.
Only some devices can unlock the sd cards..
See the win7 section of hd2

Hrm.. I don't think my SD is locked though, if it was then XBmod's unlocker would've worked and unlocked it. It's just that my SD card isn't detected at all...
Oh okay use a SD Card reader and format it with "sd formatter"
I had the same problem with my SD card, turned theres a difference between micro SD and micro SDHC, well mine and many other older card readers do not recognize this SDHC type at all.
good luck
I got a adapter for that when I bought my micro sdhc card.
Maybe you get one

How to recover sd cards with xbmod unlock tool cab??

Got a 4gb sd card that got messed up trying to install bttf..
hypothetiically speaking,if i got mango working on another 8gb sd card and stick the 4gb in the phone will it recognise it? For me to activate storage unlock and will this recover my card?
Thanks
In my experience every time something is wrong with the card, the Mango will not boot beyond 'your card is not recognised' screen. So if you will install Mango with a different card and try to unlock the 4Gb one, you will not be able to. You need a card with original install on it in order to proceed, hence you will be able to unlock only the 8Gb card. I had the original install card gone off, so had it formatted in Nokia, but the phone refused to boot, even after the reset it requested. So my advise would be to format your 4Gb in a Nokia phone. I keep N95 just for that purpose.
