first, I am korean. so I am terrible in English.
I have tried various methods to solve wifi freeze on screen turn off.
but any method did not succeed.
but I found that the problem does not occur when streak connect with power cable.
so I have tried to produce similar effects when streak does not connect with power cable.
I use tasker and secure settings for this. (rooting is required.)
and I finally solved the problem.
follow this step.
1. you have to install tasker and secure settings apps.
2. run secure settings and click "Helper is not installed" to install helper.
3. run tasker and click + button on the bottom to create new profile.
4. choose first context > State > Power > Power(Source : any, Invert : check)
5. click New Task > name : any text or blank > click + button to create action.
6. choose Plugin > Secure Settings > Edit > choose Wake Device
7. select Wake Type : CPU Awake Only, select Duration : Manual On
8. click menu button and save.
9. close create task window.
10. long press the first context to create second context.
11. click Add > State > Net > Wifi connected.
12. long press the task to create exit task.
13. click Add Exit Task, and follw the same from 5~9 but select Duration : Manual Off.
now, your streak is solved the wifi problem.
enjoy the streak.
How does this affect your battery life, since it sounds like it keeps the device from going to sleep.

There are many problems, if possible plzz. give some solution..
1. When I unlock the device & press call button, it automatically minimizes,
2. When I press battery, it shows for 1 second & minimizes.
3. While in keylock when Islide for call information, it again minimizes.
4. In mediascape, when I make a song at REPEAT 1, the player hangs after the
song is over & doesnt repeat.
5. Any application doesn't close directly after clicking X.
Plz. this is a Good phone but due to bugs some difficulties ...
Thnkxx....
I done it by just disabling the X-Key & all solved.
Now no screen bugs.....
Where did you disabled the x key ... im experiencing same problems.
Thanx

I disabled it using just SKtools.
1. Start SKTools
2. Choose Category.
3. Then select All.
4. Then select Services.
5. Then Go at the bottom & find XKeyHandler.
6. Click Stop & After that click Manual.
Then just restart.... all done ....
I only have one app in my market, it is download-able but none the less its the only thing there. any idears?
Any ideas folks?
So you started doing the Manualnooter 4.5.2 for 1.2
Just continue one with the rest of the steps. Reading further down on the Step-by-step guide you get these instructions.
Market has limited visibility - This is a known tablet issue, not just a NOOKcolor one.

3) Leave the Android Market program running & tap the Home button to go to the desktop.
Replaces 4-6 = Nook Color Tools => All Settings => Manage Applications
4) Tap the Menu button, then select the Settings option in the bottom bar that pops up.
5) Select the Applications option
6) Select the Manage applications option
7) Select the Running TAB to show all running applications.
8) Scroll down the list until you see Market, then select it.
9) Tap on the Clear cache option button
10) Tap on the Force stop option button. DO NOT tap on the Clear data button here under Market, it will break the process I believe!
11) Tap on the Back button to go back to the entire list of running apps.
12) Scroll the app list up until you see the Google Services Framework app & select it.
13) Tap on the Clear data button here first, then tap on the OK button to confirm the action.
13) Tap on the Force close button now.
14) Now tap on the Back button or use the Home button to go back to the main desktop screen.
15) If you have the Market app on your desktop, then tap on it to run it, or open the dockbar applet panel & run Market from there again.
16) You should get an error box that has "Attention", then states that "An error has occurred. Please try again later."
This is good & what seems should happen if all is going well.
17) Now just hold down the On\Off button & then use the shut down menus to shut down the device normally.
18) Now just turn the device back On normally, let it boot to the desktop ... when you get a working Wifi connection, try Market again ... hopefully if all went as it did for me many times, Market should work fully now & show apps that used to be missing!
Thanks, your awesome!

Hi
Thanks to the forum, I have rooted my Nook touch. I can access my emails and the market. But nothing is protected.
Is it a way to add a password to the Nook? or how can I set up the apps so they asked for a password.
Thanks
Secure your hacked Nook
There seems no solution to this at this moment but there are some workaround security mitigations.
1. Do not connect public Wifi to use your Nook. Use your own private Wifi and turn on AP isolation (i.e. Wifi clients on the same WLAN are isolated)
2. Install on Nook adbWireless and control adb ON/OFF over wireless
hxxp:// www .appbrain .com /app /adbwireless-(widget-version)/siir.es.adbWireless
SC Leung
Securing after TouchNooter 1.6.24
Would reverting to the original uRamdisk of the stock Nook touch make it secure?... i know it would make adb over wifi unavailable but if that is fine with me...
Somewhere on the forum is attached ramdisk that should enable adb over usb. The topic is something like "adb over usb"..
If you wish to lock single apps, I have had great luck with Protector. You can define any apps you want to be locked and when you try to open these apps, they ask for a password.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidpassword.core&feature=search_result
I have not tried it on the new Nook myself but give it a try.
Lock
Use GoLocker
Go locker does really add number lock (iphone style) or connect-the-dots lock (android style) but they tend to leave a shadow on the screen, which was bothersome enough for me to stop using, and the number lock would show the number before becoming a *, so someone could look over your shoulder and pick it up...
Almost good! But the best choice so far for entire NST locking so far!
GO Locker: so far, little luck
Downloaded Go Locker.
It detected an outdated Go Launcher; I approved the download.
Enabled Go Locker and specified a PIN.
Cycled power on the Nook.
Behavior change: I can select among Go Launcher, Go Locker and Home when I press the Home soft button on the right of the screen. Makes sense.
But no request for a PIN.
Perhaps I missed one or more configurations steps?
Any suggestions?
Best regards,

You need to set GO Locker as the default so you can't just press home to bypass the lock, and when you reboot it doesn't start immediately unfortunately. But next time you lock the screen it should be there.
Thanks. I set the Go Locker as the default, but I did not see the locking work after reboot, nor how to lock the screen manually.
But my main concern is that approximately 40% of the screen was going grey, making icons and text in that area unusable.
So I removed Go Locker for now.
Is documentation available somewhere? With a quick check of the developer site I did not see enough.

Quick how to for any other S7 Active owners who like me were disappointed that the Active Key could not be used as a dedicated flashlight button.
I used the Tasker app with the free App Factory plugin to create an app that toggles the flashlight state.
1. Open Tasker and create a new task (I called mine Flashlight Toggle)
2. Click the Add action button (the + at the bottom) and the Select Action Category window will pop up
3. Type Torch into the filter at the bottom of the Select Action Category window
4. In the Action Edit screen select Toggle from the dropdown in Set
5. Press back to return to the Task Edit screen
6. In the lower right press and hold the icon button and assign the task an icon
7. Press back to return to main Tasker screen - press and hold on the Flashlight Toggle task (or whatever you called it) task to highlight it
8. Select Export from the menu button in the upper right and export as an app.
8a. You may need to install the apk you just created manually depending on permssion settings with tasker (thanks for heads up 78c10)
9. Now open Settings and Navigate to the Active Key settings
10. You should have an app named Flashlight Toggle that you can now assign to the Active Key
Congratulations, you now have a dedicated flashlight button on your S7 Active.
I don't mean to sound critical, so please forgive me, but wouldn't it have been easier to download a flashlight app, and set it to the button?
I personally can't believe you didn't get more feedback on this. What a beautiful, elegant solution.
I was shocked to find that there was no option available to bind a long press of the action key to flashlight, how stupid. You fixed it, and you fixed it in a beautiful way! Thanks.
@Chr0nos77 I had done this previously, but was plagued with either apps that would then open and not turn off the torch by holding it, or having ads emblazoned across my device.
Smooth solution. The only thing that differed from the instructions is that after I exported the app, I had to install it before I could use it. So, I guess don't miss out on that step.
For some reason, I had to factory reset my phone to get the app factory to install. Oh well.
Only problem I'm having with this is that even though I have the app in my whitelist, if the phone is in deep doze the button does not reliably launch the flashlight. Have to press unlock button first then the active key. Still good but would be good if I could somehow force it to work with aggressive doze.
Is there a way to set the flashlight to full brightness? When you turn on the flashlight in the notification panel, it's only set to 30% of it's brightness, but when you open the Activity Zone, you can turn it all the way up to 100%, is there some way to make the 100% setting standard?
Hello. Tasker cannot support Torch in Android 5.0.1. Is there some other way to do it?

I'm not sure in 5.0.1 - I used this with my S7A which was Android 6 out of the box.
gotta say.. works VERY well
Thank you for this, I've been looking for a way to be able to skip tracks with the active key and found a way to do it using the same logic you described here (made an app for next track and on for previous). If anyone is interested let me know and I'll put instructions for how I did it.

I have tried it, it just reordered the position of the icons, no mobile data toggle
Finally, success!
I read another command in the posts, that did the job!
Just put that command in the adb shell:
settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles),MobileData,Hotspot"
I have no idea why the first one did not do it and what exactly is the difference, but this command did it !
I DLed this

its quick... a bit of a screen white for a split second but then it turns on and off just fine
Hello everyone
Since I was annoyed with not having a quick settings toggle for changing the sound profile on my OP3T and since I haven't found any guide to enable it, I decided to share with you how I've done it in case you're interested
Your device needs to be rooted for this to work
1. Install app called Custom Quick Settings for play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quinny898.app.customquicksettings&hl=en
2. Give permissions
3. Go to quick settings and hit that edit buttons (pencil button) on top right and then drag one of Custom Tile to the top and then hit back buttons to apply it
4. Go to Custom quick settings app and hit on the Unconfigured Tile from the list (you will see one option for each tile you drag up in quick settings)
5. Select Toggles and then Sound from the list
6. Now hit on the ranch buttons at the bottom right
7. You will see 3 sections for each action (Sound*Vibration*Silent)
8. In first section (Normal) hit on Short Click Action and from the opening window choose Toggles > Set ringer to vibrate
9. Uncheck Collapse notification bar on double click for this section
10. In second section (Vibrate) hit on Short Click Action and from the opening window choose Toggles > Set ringer to silent
11. Uncheck Collapse notification bar on double click for this section
12. In third section (Silent) hit on Short Click Action and from the opening window choose Toggles > Set ringer to normal
11. Uncheck Collapse notification bar on double click for this section

Tasker has Do Not Disturb mode (also readable through variable %INTERRUPT) and Silent mode, which works a little finicky on Nougat but may be of interest. If you mean to create a custom tile for the task, you will need to look into addons. My choice is AutoNotification but I'm sure there are also free ones

If you're using Tasker, you can just do everything in it, no need for Custom Quick Settings. Your question is more targeted at that app and how it interacts with Tasker, and since I haven't use it, I can't help you with that.
