Hi Guys,
First Of all READ THIS
Still want to calibrate battery........?????????
If YES then I have a manual way to calibrate it.
Whatever ROM and Kernel are you using it doesn't matter.[/B]
CALIBRATION METHOD__1:
First of all Check whether your ROM is odexed* or not.
If not odexed, only then download "odex-edify-X8.zip" from this THREAD
and copy "odex-edify-X8.zip" to your SDCARD
****Now drain your battery to 10% or wait for it till it comes to 10%****
1. Now connect your charger(Must)
2. Reboot X8 into CWM recovery
3. Flash "odex-edify-X8.zip" using "install custom Zip" *****Skip this Step if your Rom is already odexed*****
4. After flashing "odex-edify-X8.zip" wipe delvik cache again from advanced option
5. then Clear battery Stats
6. after that Wipe cache partition only.(do not full wipe)
7. Now Reboot phone.
8. Now let the charger to charge your phone Approx 3 Hrs Even if it shows 100%
Once you have done your battery is calibrated on that ROM.
CALIBRATION METHOD__2:
First of all Check whether your ROM is odexed* or not.
If not odexed, only then download "odex-edify-X8.zip" from this THREAD
and copy "odex-edify-X8.zip" to your SDCARD
****Now charge your battery to 100% ***
1. Let your charger connected to phone(Must)
2. Reboot X8 into CWM recovery
3. Flash "odex-edify-X8.zip" using "install custom Zip" *****Skip this Step if your Rom is already odexed*****
4. wipe delvik cache from advanced option
5. then Clear battery Stats
6. after that Wipe cache partition only.(do not full wipe)
7. Now Reboot phone.
8. Now let the charger to charge your phone Approx 1(one) hour Even if it shows 100%
Once you have done your battery is calibrated on that ROM.
* Odexing the ROM is important so don't skip it. Actually odexing the ROM increases the performance in many ways like quick switching the application and quick bootup etc.. But I checked it 100 times, It also helps in long lasting the battery. That is why I recommend to odex the ROM.
TRICKS:
1. (Must) Open ROOT EXPLORER and goto /system/apps and delete Email.apk
Use Gmail instead of it.
2. (Optional) Delete Timescape & its Extentions if you have it because its services are always running in background even when not in Use and result in battery drain.
3. (Must) Delete DSP manager. When this runs with music then CPU frequency is always 480+ and that result in battery drain. USE apllications with built in equilizer like POWERAMP, Playerpro and ohers(which one you like the most)
4. Don't set the brightness too high. Set it to 40%.
5. Turn off the WI-FI and Bluetooth when not in use
6. Turn off the GPS when not in use.
7. Use airplane Mode when there is no network in any area.
8. Turn off "background data" and "Auto-sync" when not in use.
9. Uncheck Allow mock locations under /settings/Applications/Development.
10. Uncheck Use wireless Networks under /settings/Applications/Location & security settings(When Google MAP not in use)
GDX Users:
1. GDX users, after using phone kindly try to stop the services by using running services under /settings/Applications
2. After stopping these service press menu button and open background cached processes and stop the cached processes except Sony launcher(if you use it).
Running services:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Background cachedprocesses:
I know this IMAGE is from Stornmix ROM but this is same in all CM7 Roms.
3. Use less number of widgets on homescreen.
4. Delete DSP manager.apk and Music.apk (use poweramp or other app that have equilizer)
5. Delete Google Map (better option is to freeze it when you have to use it later)
6. Don't overclock your CPU . I think Overclocking only helps in HD Game otherwise ROM is smooth and fast enough to play many games.
My experience
I tried this on almost All ROMS.
After doing these above things my battery backup is of 1 day & 18 hrs approx) when
1. mobile data is always on,
2. Synchronisation always on,
3. Playing games like Raging Thunder 2 online mode and NFS shift (Daily for 1/2 hour)
4. some calls (40-45 mins total),
5. A lot of Emails (Approx 70 daily)
6. 1 hour with music daily.
And now if you have any query or any question. Ask freely. I will help you .
kay gonna try
Nice job!

3. (Must) Delete Walkman app if you are using it. This application when run then CPU usage is always above 480Mhz. Too high CPU result in massive battery drain. Use poweramp or some other apps instead of this.
Remember that Walkman App is MIUI music app and as far as I know none of MIUI apps work for X8 except Music. But it works with bug of high CPU
So, avoid it.
On some CM7 ROMS default Music app does the same so check it through system panel or another process manager app. If you find the same then delete it also.

i tried this method! both of them... but if i leave the mobile data on and sync on and play games...talk for 40-50 mins.... battery is down to 20% in 5-6 hrs ....
using gingerDX v22 on alfs v07 ics... max cpu 768 and min 19.... swapped but not with swapper2
and if i charge and calibrate the battery and leave it over night for 7-8 hrs...
cpu spy shows that its been on deep sleep for 7 hrs and on 19mhz for about 1 hr but still 20% battery is drained ant it shows 79-81% (no mobile data no WiFi on sync no apps running... not even music)!!
is it normal? or my battery shouldnt be draining? or its because of the custom kernel?

My experience was of 1day & 18hrs while doing those things.
But yours was with same usage in 5-6 hrs
With that usage 20% battery drain is normal but battery level to 20% is not normal.
Solution: Use X8 without overclock. Overclocking will help you only in games. As GDX is already fast and Smooth so there is no need of overclocking.
As I have seen that most of the guys are suffering from GDX battery drain, so I will update tricks for gdx when I will be with my PC
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using XDA App
EDIT: Post updated for GDX users.

without playing games i got 1 day and 10 hours till the battery was 7%... i read books and talked quite a lot but still it got through a whole day, though overclocked! and gdx needs overclocking coz it makes scrolling smoother and app loading faster and my launcher pro always FC-ed on start without overclocking...
but now i changed my rom using CM7.2 port by xperiafan13... hopefully battery draining would be much less!
and thanks for the help

In GDX v023 (stock kernel) with setCpu, ondemand governor, and Google Music Play 4.1.513, CPU usage while music is running is set to 480Mhz min, and sometimes go to 610Mhz...
Do not waste your time! Battery charging and discharging is done in hardware! You can only manage battery life by CPU usage, wireles and display, also avoiding from battery memory effect (of corse li-pol battery has no memory effect, but full discharging and full charging extends battery life)!
Clearing battery stats clears only usage statistics and not affect charging and discharging!
Useful for GDx v023 Stock Kernel ? Any Gdx user tried ?

I have been on these threads for about 2 weeks before I got my 2 epics. In just about every thread there is someone complaining about the horrible battery life on the epic. Well I am here to rescue you....The combo of a modified Kernel and a task, data killing app is what will extend your battery life and here is how you can get there. I am easily getting over 12hrs with moderate use (texting, 7-10phone calls, and about 1hr of gps use). On standby yesterday (2 phone calls and 20 texts) I was still at 57% after 13hrs off the charger.
The current setup I am on is:
Rooted
Boss Rom V2 with mixup's Kernel.
Ultimate Juice defender. (says 2.00x battery right now)
Spare Parts.
SetCpu. (on demand setting)
My gf has the same phone and she is running about the same battery life 12-14hrs on:
Rooted
Mixup's Kernel
Ultimate Juice.
Where to start?? Well first some might think "rooting" is hard to too "techy" for them to do and trust me it def not.
1.) My advice for completing the root is at this link...easy, easy walk through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786879&highlight=click+root
It seriously takes 5 minutes to complete. Make sure you have USB debugging on under settings/ development (on phone)
2.) Then you should proceed to again another simple "one click" clockwork recovery found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782300
Once you have tried the runtryfirst or runtrylast. Power off the phone and hold volume down/ camera/ and power until it powers on....if is says andriod recovery repeat what is says in the thread if it says clock work you are good to go to the next step.
3.) Install a rom (if you would like) or if you dont want to change your settings, back up your contacts/ apps, then just install the Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786988
Once you have gotten this far you can check for the kernel: Settings/about phone/build number should say Mixup Custom Kernel somewhere
Here is another guide on the rooting process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798067
First download juice defender from the market (free), then download this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=44E7V14C
With ultimate juice you can change everything you cant with juice but you have to have juice installed first. Here I have everything set how I want it (sleep mode, wifi distance, allowed apps, etc)
Copy/cut to memory card then open/install with Astro
Then download spare parts (if you want, tells you battery history, speeds up amination, etc)
Then download this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
Copy/cut to memory card then open/install with Astro
I am currently using on demand and getting the battery life stated.
Last but not least: Go to settings/ Apps/ running services/ press on OmaDRMconfigService.drm and Stop it. Every time you reboot you have to repeat unless you go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794010&highlight=DRM
I did ALL of this to my girlfriend's epic within an hr. It might seem like a lot but when 2pm rolls around at work and you are searching for a charger you might want to consider trying this!
The one day I was on my phone most of the day (2hrs) with 1hr 30mins gps use and 100texts at 5pm I was down to 15% but still made it home!
Good luck guys and hope this helps everyone in distress about the battery life!
Sorry to flame your post, but I'm on stock rom with DRM removed and Battery tweak installed and I just plugged in my phone at 5% with 1 Day 05 Hours of "Time since unplugged".
Don't need no stinkin' Juice Defender

There's probably several threads like that in the General Forum(where this belongs).
Have you cleared battery stats (using the scripts by adrynalyne) and tried using a program called juice defender?
Have you used spare parts to check tour batter history to check what might be using up the battery? Check the battery history in spare parts as the day goes on.
good day.
I was at 21 hours on DI01, so I was very happy. Moving to EB01, I did the following to get to 16 hours, but it is still calibrating so I am hoping to do a little better:
1. Charge to 100%
2. Power off; Charge for an extra 20 minutes (bump charging that worked on a DInc, cant say if it really works, just habit)
3. Android Recovery (Blue) - wipe cache
4. Apply update.zip to get to CWM Red
5. Wipe cache again, advanced, wipe Dalvik cache
6. Reboot
7. Titanium BU to freeze unused apps
8. recharge to 100%; battery stats script with Root Explorer and Terminal Emulator
9. reboot
10. AutoRun Manager to disable startup apps that arent essential
11. turn off auto-rotation and wifi
12. Advanced Task Killer - auto kill when screen off; Display turned down to almost nothing (still bright enough to see); Display timeout 15 seconds
13. ran battery down to 2 %; charged to 100% while powered off.
Battery Left app reports 16 hours at 95%; I cant get it to register 100% anymore (?).
problem: battery drain on my x8. gdx v007
tried full wipe, clearing battery stats, charging fully and calibrating the battery but still drain persists.. battery lasts only 4 less than 24 hours. (i only use my phone in texting, wifi is off)
note: i set smartass as my governor.
if i delete the dsp manager using TB, will I still be able to use my headset/headphone? because there is a note that my phone wont run normally if i uninstalled it and may cause to reflash my rom again..
someone suggested that i delete the dsp manager to lessen the drain because as what i have seen, it is always included on the running programs in applications.
thanks..
Just delete it.
I deleted it too and I don't have any problems, and this warning that you got comes up every time You want to delete a system app.
So,just delete it if you want to.
Delete it after you can download poweramp i think full version must pay, that music player has Equalizer it can help it
just delete it..
but in my phone, with texting only. my battery last more than 24 hour i guess..
Does any1 else get battery drain while using ginger dx? my phone just sits in my pocket at school and when i got home today the battery was already down to 22% from around 80% any solutions?? help??

I have it too. No help so far.
Download the app "battery calibration" from the market, and follow the instructions in the app.
No use man tried all the things recommended battery savers ,calibration ,stopping services blah blah .... etc .I be live is time to say goodbye to this rom and return to plain old Eclair. It is no fun to worry when the battery will go flat on me!
Set min CPU to 19 MHz (only in custom kernels)
No lag, reboot, etc at all.
i feel also, my x8 got faster battery drain...any solution about that ?
did u guys try wiping the battery stats in CWM??? it usually helps. i had battery drains everytime i newly installed gingerdx.
Some of the tips to save your battery i learnt overtime in XDA posts thanks to those threads.. sry i dont remember the exact ones
1) Disable Haptic Feed back. ( The phone vibrates during certain UI interactions and hard button presses)
2) Keep your phone's brightness low(less than 30% if possible). If your phone has a Light Sensor, then enable Auto Brightness so that your screen's brightness changes according to to your surroundings light levels
3) Download RAM manager(requires root, if you haven't rooted your phone check out here) and keep your RAM free soa as to avoid many apps running uselessly. You can check out about RAM Manager here and download it.
4) Use Juice Defender Battery saver. This app does a neat job and really saves your battery life.
I use a Sony Ericsson W8 for now and I get a battery life of roughly three days with moderate use!
To know more about Juice Defender and to download it see here.
5) Charge your phone occasionally to enhance your battery life.
6) If you use a Custom ROM and Custom Kernel you can make use of Undervolt modules.
7) Use SET CPU (requires root, if you haven't rooted your phone check out here) to underclock your mobile processor when your phone is not in genuine use.
8) Apps like Facebook for Android, Music etc occupy your RAM even after you close them. They run as an actual background process rather than a Cache Background Process.
So goto Settings -> Applications -> Running Services to close them manually(This frees more RAM as well as increases your battery life)
9) This one is for rooted phones with Clockworkmod Recovery or xRecovery. In case you face an abnormal battery drain try this. Charge your phone to 100% and reboot your phoneto CWM menu or xRecovery menu and select advanced and Wipe battery stats alone and reboot and charge your phone for another ten minutes and Voila! your phone battery would last longer than it normally did!!!
10) Uninstall unused applications so as to prevent battery drain.
Dont forget to hit the thanks button

Hello Guys, I may have figured out the battery drain problem. I was previously using Froyobread on my W8. I decided to upgrade it to GDX so I flashed it.
Before flashing, my battery was at 25-27%...Right after flashing though, I noticed that it went up to 46%??? (My phone was not plugged through USB or charger during update process)
Could this be the reason for the so-called battery drain issue? Meaning the phone "thinks" its fully charged even if its not?

u better wipe the battery stats after u install a custom rom like GDX ..... charging the phone to 100 percent and then wiping the battery stats keeps the phone in a stable battery condition and there wont be battery drains.....
Okay, so I noticed that the batt drain was unacceptable the first time I installed gdx (it ate like 2% every 5min on standby) so I read all the advices here and did my own combination.
Heres what I did...
I switched back to froyobread then fully charged the phone. I then reset the bat stats thru CWM then charged the phone again. I did this like 3x coz every time I reset the stats, it would drop 5-8%...after that, I then installed GDX and once again, fully charged it the wiped stats thru CWM and using battery calibration. After that, I noticed a big change in bat life. Its now about 12hrs running under normal usage (a few calls, sms and some wifi), the batt is still at 88%...whereas before, it would have been around 30ish already when I was running froyo.
Could it be that GDX jumbles up the numbers when it is installed on phones with bad battery stats?
Just sharing my experiences...
OT: GDX rocks!

Hi, i have an LG G5 that i bought from Ebay, H830 (Tmobile) Unlocked, with Fulmics Rom 5.5 , Magisk and TWRP, noticed an horrible battery life since i upgraded from Marshmallow (Tried Stock Oreo also).
My OEM battery gave me 3.5 SOT with light use and 2.5 with heavy use.
I also bought 2 spare batteries (Not as good as OEM) which gave me 2 hours SOT with light use or 1.5 with heavy use.
Now, i get:
OEM: 5 light 4 Heavy
Extra: 4 light 3 heavy
I had 30% (or more) Wakelock time, now i have 3%.
My phone would get extremely hot for no reason at all, now it goes really cold and only warms a little while playing games or hours of continued use.
Gps would be worst than heavy use, now it is much better.
If you like the difference this are the steps you should follow (You need to be root):
0. Do a nandroid backup of all your phone and titanium backup of all apps you want to keep with their configurations.
1. Clear all apps cache (Go to storage and touch both internal and external and touch cached data, this will prompt to clear cache, yes).
Erase apps data (Not the app) This will reset all apps to factory without deleting them.
To be honest, i dont remember how i did it, to clear all apps at once, but if you have only a few apps, then you should go to "apps" in settings and click each app and choose, storage, and click data, it will promt to delete all data of the app, again, yes.
2. Install the following apps:
L speed
Naptime
Kernel Adiutor
Wakelock Detector
Service disabler
3. First we will setup naptime to doze the device quickly (lspeed also does this but the service does more harm than good)
Then we will setup Lspeed for regular battery saving settings
Then we use kernel adiutor to tweak gpu to be used less times and the cpu to not wake up big cores for little tasks (Disable impulse for big cores).
Then we disable some problematic apps and services with service disabler
Then we check our device with wakelock detector (You may have battery draining apps that i dont).
Step by step will be given on screenshots
4. Ready, your battery life should be a lot better, test, give me feedback and we can improve this small guide.
Comments and suggestions are highly appreciated.
