Bricked my Advent Vega

I posted this in the Android Development Thread under Fuji-Vega. Hope I can get some help with more exposure on my problem.
I think I've busted my Vega. I installed Fuji-Vega V.07, then I wiped the device/factory reset, I then wiped Davlik cache and then I wiped the Battery Stats.
Now its stuck on the Vega bootup animation and it doesn't go any further.
Any suggestions of what to do?
I've shut the device down and powered back on but the same thing happens.
I personally now don't think I should have wiped the caches.
The device Recovery is ClockWorkMod 3.
Help much appreciated.
luckily for you the vega is almost impossible to brick so do a full system restore
http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/full_system_flash_instructions.pdf
If you have a nandroid backup then you can try to restore with the VegaFixer. I wrote a small tutorial how to use it.

A tip, next time wipe first then flash, not the other way around.
Some ROM have stuff in the data partition that they need and if you wipe after flashing, this stuff is missing when it boots.
VEGA CANNOT BE BRICKED! There's always a way out.
No you have not bricked your Vega it is not possible.
boot into recovery and install the official rom from Advent website by following their instructions. Then reflash your custom rom
Hi Guys,
I don't know if I am in the right thread but I try...
I have kind of the same problem, but with a newly acquired Viewpad 10s (I haven't found any specific section for this tablet in the forum) and I am a true newbie...
I wanted to install the Android Market following the procedure described here:
oudmaijer.com/2010/12/12/android-market-on-pov-mobii-101-tablet/
and after having transfered the market_update0.zip file on my sd-card and applied it through the Software Tool (in Settings menu), the tablet turned off then on.. but I only get a black screen. It won't even show the Android robot picture again.
The stupid thing is that I have no backup rom (the one delivered with the Viewpad 10s) on my computer and I don't even know what I can do (I guess the aforementioned rom for advent would not work)...
Please help! I just want the tablet to work again, whatever rom it uses!
Thank you,
Elena
Try VEGAFixer (a few posts above) to get your tablet back to work without data loss.
If this doesn't fix it, get stock Viewpad 10s ROM and flash it. Get the PDF file from this site as well, so you know how to flash it.
You can as well flash my Gambaro ROM V0.2 ROM. Download the Gambaro ROM V0.2NV version, for this the flash procedure is the same as for stock ROM.

Thank you BeeGee_Tokyo!
I followed the instructions of the pdf and downloaded the files from the official link and after having struggled a bit for the reboot procedure (with the timing if the back/power buttons).
Then it went smoothly!
You are a guru BeeGee_Tokyo, thanks again!
I will definitely try your ROM soon too!
Elena
Got same problem few times on my Viewpad 10s. At last I installed market via CWM and finally it works fine.

So I will give it a new try.
It seems mine is broken.
No Advent Vega, but POV Mobii - however using nvflash to put back Stockrom on machine is the same procedure on both.
POV got rooted with this Add-On.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931337
Put CWM on tablet via Recovery Easy Install ( http://android.modaco.com/content/a...d-clockwork-recovery-3-0-2-4-easy-install-v2/ )
and Wireless ADB. (No ADB via USB with POV because OF different USB-behaviour)
Yesterday tab was runnning fine - nothing put on additionally (my Mom is using it) and suddenly restarting the POV only gives a black sreen (backlight is on, but nothing else to see)
Drivers are fine - NVIDIA USB-Boot-recovery driver shown in Win7x64. OS is recognizing the Tablet when switched on with specialkeys connected via USB.
Running ****POV-Full-Flash.exe or ****Vega.exe gives the same message in DOS-BOX:
"Unknown device found"
Press enter to continue
So connection s good, but for whatever reason device is not recognized as vaild.
Did flash Stock-Rom 2 days before this way succesfully. (purchased as returned but new article and wanted to start from clean ROM)
I am having a Nadroid-Backup, thought easy cake, StockRom - CWM and restore nandroid - but I am totally stuck...
Any hint to get out of there welcome..
I don`t wanna t be the first who succeeded in .. *Grmpf*
For whatever reason flashing the StockRom via nvflash was possible now - nvflash accepted the connected device.
So I am not the first one who brickes his POV/Vega
HELP Hard Brick Novice
I thought I could do it I really did... I cant, I cant hack, or do anything with code... its just not me.
Today I tried to flash my Viewsonic Viewpad 10 with a rom (vegan tab) and completely bricked the device. I see posts about restoring the system using an SD card... problem the system runs on the internal SD card is there anything I can do?
Ok, I'm usually a lurker, but I need help.
HAppens that I was trying VegaComb 1.5.2 (works great, but I NEED flash) and decided to go back to CorvusV5. I flashed correctly, or so I thought, but now my Vega loops on the Boot Logo.
I've tried to get it into NVRecovery, but the screen just flashes with light for 2-3 secs and then the device turns off everytime I repeat the sequence. Additionally, the PC does not seem to recognize the device at any time.
Some help here?
Thanks!

screen does not come on in nvflash mode your doing it wrong
right turn of vega (hold power for 6 secs)
put vega on charge connect to computer via usb
hold back for two seconds
hold power until computer bleeps recognises device
release power then back
ensure correct drivers installed
run recovery program
Edit: You will never brick your vega no one ever will if it is at all possible it will be an extremely experienced dev doing something extremely complicated you cant do it from CWM im not annoyed just informing you all
Fixed! thanks!
what most people forget, including me, is that you need a minimum 60% charge before you can flash the stock rom using the power button method, so you can press away all you want, but if it's not charged, it's not happening
Although I followed all above instructions, I can not restore my Vega.
Had it off for a couple of days, tried to switch it on and it stuck in blank screen (screen on). Have it on the charger but light indicates battery is full (thought that battery could be dead).
Used the Advent Vega Driver Installer, drivers are installed properly, but can not enter recovery mode at all, every time it goes into this "blank screen" state with the screen being on.
Any ideas?
have you installed vega tools?

[Q] Nook Color Bricked. HELP!!!!!!

Hi there,
I am a newie when it comes to tech and some time ago i decided to purchase a nook and root as a full tablet.
I installed Phiremod Rom V5 and everything worked fine. Yesterday i updated the Rom to Phiremod V6.2 and my power button stop working.
After reading some threads i decided to factory reset my nook and went to CWM mode via the rom manager. Then i choose the options factory reset and now the screen is stuck in CWM mood. I cannot turn off, reset or do anything with my nook.
It would be much appreciated if someone could help me out cuz u don't know what to do and i cannot take it back to Barnes and Nobel for repairing...
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
You're going to have to. You have a hardware failure. That power button is completely faulty, I had the same thing happen to me. Restore it to stock (do your best, it took me a few hours to get it back with that faulty button) and call barnes and nobles. Otherwise you're just going to have problems.
Well the thing is that i don't know how to turn my nook on without pressing the power button. I have to wait until the battery is completely drained and it will turn off automatically but turning it back on into Clockworkmod is the complicated part. I can't send the nook to BN with no rom installed.
How did you manage to recover the stock rom???
Thanks in advance.
If the nook is off, and you plug it into a charger it will turn on. You have to get the stock image from the Development section of these forums.
As far as getting into CWM with out the power button, CWM bootable sd card would be your best bet.
Don't panic
Here's what u have to do, let the battery run out first, it will automatically turn off.
To turn it on, just connect charger,it will take some time to start.
Try CWM again or Use a bootable CWM sd card to restore your nook to stock or see if it can be done via adb.
Take your nook back to B&N (coz this seems like a hardware fault).
Thanks a lot
I already created a bootable sd card with CWM and am still waiting for the battery to drain out completely. I find it so interesting that all this happened within 12 hours of installing the new Phiremod Rom.
I will try to wait and see how it works after the recovery.
Only another short question. I am currently studying in Europe but coming back home for a couple of days and then i have to leave again. How are the people in BN and are they going to tell me to wait until they fix it or give me a new one???
Thanks for all your help guys. I can finally relax now
I had a kinda similar scare yesterday. For me I just couldn't get the power button to do anything, and apparently it wasn't a hardware fault. I ended up getting it to work by using a bootable CWM SD and having the power cable unplugged. When I tried with the power cable plugged in I got no response. I don't really know how easy battery access is on the nook, but that's something to think about for a hard reset. Good luck!

I'm sorry XDA, but I need help with dual booting my Nook Color :(

I've spent a couple days trying, I've searched the forums and Google'd any issue I ran into, but I think I am just doing something wrong here. As a last resort, I'm making this thread to ask for your help.
I am having the hardest time getting my Nook Color (blue dot) to dual boot correctly. I can get it to boot into C7 just fine, but when I try booting to the stock Nook Color (alternate boot?) it just hangs at the screen with the logo and "alternate mode" in text.
I'm following this guide:
The Very Corrected CM7 & Stock 1.2 Dual Boot Guide
I have a CWM SD card with the corrected 1gig image with CWM 3.2.0.1.
I have the two new partition files to correct the blue dot changes on my Nook.
I have Cyanogen Nightly 138.
I have downloaded all the files that the guide mentioned.
I can root it successfully and get rooted Nook Color, and I can install C7 over it and have it run fine. Dual booting is a different story and is giving me a headache
In the guide, I have tried using the included u-boot file, which unfortunately didn't work. I have also tried with and without correcting the blue dot partition change.
I then reinstalled C7 to use the default boot method (the one with the menu) and I was able to get into C7. But holding the volume buttons to boot to stock causes the Nook to hang.
Am I doing something wrong? Any help will be really appreciated.

[Q] Stuck at rooting

Hello,
So i've tried to root the nook. Copied the touchnooter on my card, booted the nook. And then : forever stuck on the "root forever" or the "read forever" (when i get the card off)..
The hard reboot (20 sec on power off) doesn't work and i'm stuck at this "read forever" screen.
Is there a way to recover the nook ?
Thanks.. !
When doing the hard power off (long press) the screen doesn't usually change and you might be fooled into believing nothing happened.
Have you tried to let the unit settle for 10 seconds and then press power for a few seconds to see if it tries to boot?
Hey,
thanks for replying. I have tried a 30 sec hard boot + a reboot try but nothing happened. It freezes on the "nook is starting screen".
I afraid i have broke my device... But strangely i followed the rooting steps and nothing seemed to do wrong.. I guess.
Bye
If you can in fact get the unit to start booting, just long press power (10s +) as soon as you see the unit try to boot to interrupt the boot, then power it on again and repeat this procedure for 8 times (sucks, yes I know) and you should drop into factory reset.
Ok so i have to say : WTF !
So this morning i looked at my nook and saw that it still was on the "reading forever"/"starting" thing. As i saw your advice i tried to boot 8 time..
On the first boot attempt : it worked ! So maybe is was the eighth..
The nook started and asked me if i wanted to continue with android guy or "es something"... so i pressed android guy..
SO now i don't really know if the procedure went well ? Is it supposed to be rooted now ?
Thanks anyway for the time you took replying !
I hope my english is not too hard to read.
Bye,
By "android guy" I guess you're referring to the Android Welcome screen?
That would suggest that the Touchnooter went trough successfully.
Did you get Go Launcher and ButtonSavior up and running?
IIRC, whenever you do a fresh boot and try to use ButtonSavior you'll get a notice saying ButtonSavior has been granted superuser access, which would indicate that you're successfully rooted.
I had a similar problem, using touchnooter 1.11.20 and it was too quick. Maybe 45 seconds, removed card and restarted. Stuck in a boot loop, on tne "Nook" screen with the little blocks move across the screen and just keeps restarting. Fortunately I made a backup and was able to restore. Not sure what the problem is but I tried TouchNooter 5 times, downloaded it twice, wrote it to the SD cars 3 times and same result, Stuck on the nook screen, animation gets to the 4th dot and restarts. Tried salsichaNooter .4 with the same result. Any ideas on what the problem could be? It would be really nice if I could get a decent reader on this thing.
I made my life a little easier by having 2 micro SD cards to use, nookie on one and touchnooter on the other. I also made sure I had a good backup of my original ROM by opening the image with 7zip and the nook with partition wizard and verifying they were the same. At least I can gat it back to a working stock rom.
Why dont you try my new method?

PS:
..... insomnia Sucks......
Thanks, I'll see if this works.
Not really insomnia, trying to get this fixed before I have to put my wife on a plane. It's her nook touch, I have a color, it was so much easier.
I'm having a similar problem: I used SalsichaNooter, I let Rooted Forever to be on the nook screen for an hour, there were no messages on the screen no progress indication of any sort. I did a hard reboot after an hour and it seems at least some part of the rooting script worked - but how do i know the nook was rooted all the way through since it didnt reaboot during the rooting process as it should?

[Q] Unable to boot.

Hello guys, I bought a A500 few days ago and I was trying to delete some native applications when suddenly the tablet turned off and started to show a image of a android bug with the stomach open and a red triangle with a exclamation mark inside, I have tried to reset by the small hole and the power and volume sequence, but so far nothing happend. I think that I changed some kind of permission while trying to delete the applications. Isn't there anyway to revert this action? Any kind of recovery mode or something like that? It is 4 AM here and I'm desperate, I can't do anything. It only turns on and starts to show the little bug and then turns off, and turn on again. I tried to connect it to the computer but It doesn't recognize it.
Any guess?

Yep. You fubarred it. Hope you made a recovery backup? Cause you will need your UID number. Go to the dev forum, and check the thread on getting your UID. First page so you can't miss it. Only other option is to get an update.zip, copy to ext SD, and boot holding volume -, and then pwr and see if it installs.
I assume you are stock rooted? Or did you install an updated unlocked ics boot loader?
if you have a card reader put the sd in it and place the update.zip through windows , then reboot into cwm and install ,if you dont have recovery , do the trick with protrait mode that should help you get back to where you need to be , I formatted my sd though the card reader ,but you dont have to
Hey guys, thank you very much for the help! I flashed a stock ROM that I found here by putting the update.zip file on a external SD card and pressing power and -volume at the same time. Now I'll just have to update to ICS.

No problem.
Do us a favor though, get your UID number before you go messing around with ICS and unlocked bootloaders. Write it in a safe location. On the box or on your pc.
Or go over to the DEV section and READ ALL THE INFO YOU CAN! Pretty much anything by MD,Civato,Skrillax, blakthdr ,vache and Thor if you can find him, thats not all of them though
Where is the tutorial to get the UID number? I can't find it in the dev forum.
