[Q] Titanium Backup Pro restores apps to wrong gmail account - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flash roms not so often as crack flashers. But when I do, or even if I just have to do a factory reset (say, if I want to change the main google account, mainly to prioritize which gets to use the built-in google Talk), I come across Market link issues with TB Pro.
The account I want the apps linked with is NOT the primary google account. It used to be before but I made a new email and such. So I checked the proper settings in TB, such as always associate apps to selected active profiles, etc. But when I restore it is mixed between the two accounts. Some apps will be linked to one account or even both.
I've tried many things. I used market doctor to no avail. I killed market links, wiped data from Market in both Settings and in TB. I've tried rebooting several times. Now I am just going to uninstall/reinstall to see if it will associate to the selected market account.
Sometimes all the apps will link to the right account. But then later on it will be mixed again, or just show some apps as uninstalled or missing. But when I search for them in Market it shows it as installed.
I hope someone has a definite solution for this. I have searched XDA and checked the TB wiki. Thanks in advance.

Did selecting the account to use in TB preferences> account for android market not work? That is the reason it's there, I'm assuming.

Yeah i checked it to the right account. But sometimes it reverts back to bring mixed.
Right now it's fine. I had to uninstall everything, check the TB settings, and reinstall. I also made sure the account was selected in the Market app.
But after making a backup in recovery, some apps weren't linked. But market doctor fixed it.
Still, i wonder what makes the apps become linked to different accounts afterwards.. Or lose its links.

Help set up my phone but put wrong gmail account

I spent the last couple of days setting up my new phone exactly as I want it, installed lag fix, rooted it, installed all of the apps I needed and am good to go.
Thing is, I used a Gmail account that I don't want to use any more, as I also have a Google Apps account, which has all of my contacts. The Gmail one is just confusing everything.
I have tried removing the Gmail account with the whole 'manage accounts' routine but it doesn't seem to work with Froyo.
The next thing is a factory reset which I am very reluctant to do. I dont want to lose all the rooting, performance fix settings, nor do I want to sit here installing and configuring everything from the beginning.
Would using Titanium backup help if I did a factory restore, or will it just restore the Google account that I want removed?
Anybody?

Pretty sure this could be found quicker if you'd have just done a quick search here or on Google.
Anyway, menu-settings-applications-manage applications-all-gmail-clear data. If that doesn't work try google services framework from that same menu.

Backing up Email app accounts

Hi
What is the best way to keep a backup of email account settings? I feel most of us switch ROMs and every time adding same accounts is very painful.
Please suggest best way to backup email accounts .
If you use a 3rd party email application then with Titanium Backup you can backup the email app(s) and associated data, which will include your account settings.
Titanium is a doddle to use and one of the most useful apps I've got off the market.
If you're talking about your google account then you have to re-add that for every flash anyway, so don't worry about it.
I have tried TB backing up
User Apps + System Apps
System Apps
Email app
But none of them worked for me..
Can you please suggest what settings need to be backed up.
What app do you use for email?
I am using Email.apk provided by Samsung Galaxy S2.
In that case, I think that gets backed up with system apps, which may be a cause for concern as system apps are sometimes not compatible from one FW or ROM to another, so you can't restore them without screwing up your phone.
If this is a major deal to you and you don't want to have to recreate your account(s) if and when you flash your phone with something, then I'd recommend looking into some of the alternative email apps on the market. I can't personally suggest any from experience as I use the gmail app and have all my other email accounts polled from that, so I only have to enter 1 account on my phone and it gets everything for me (only good for pop3 accounts though - not exchange or imap).
I do know that K9 gets recommended by lots of people though. Maybe that's worth a look.
Edit: I just checked Titanium, and the email app is listed as an app there, so you can back it up, along with associated data. That should do the trick
I always backup my email with titanium backup. Works perfectly with 2.3.3 moving from rom to rom.
I did have issues after updating to 2.3.4 but since I'm sticking with the newest fw I just deleted the old backup and made a 2.3.4 backup. Works great you just need to start the email app twice.

Unable to download from Android Market Place

Hi,
I am unable to download anything from Market Place.
Whenever I want to download anything from Market Place, the tab will show "Download".
However, even when I press download, I was always prompted the error message, "Error proccessing purchase". I would like to state that I am downloading free app, not paid app.
I have to do a workaround, by going to web-based Market Place to "Install" the app.
Afterwhich, when I go back to my Market Place, the same app which I had problem downloading would be shown "Install", instead of "Download".
And when I click on "install", the download will go through with nowproblem.
At the same time, I have no problem updating all my exisitng apps.
I have tried clearing the data, but the problem still persist.
May I know what would happen if I do a factory reset?
Can I do a Titanium Backup and do a factory reset after that?
And if a factory reset, doesn't help, I'll just restore my system data.
Thanks guys, hope someone can help.
Are you on the stock Rom?
This has happened to me also, a solution (that didn't work for me) was to remove your google account, clear the cache and market data, then re-add your google account. I still have the problem but I have a google account and a google apps account, when the downloads don't work on my google account, I just use my google apps account.
I had this happen too, I did the same as the above post^
The market has been acting up the last few days...I guess they are getting ready for the ICS release...coming in the next few weeks...

I've not noticed any problems lately (beyond the usual having to refresh a few times to get a page to load, and having to power cycle or disconnect and reconnect wifi to get an app to start installing).
I had this exact issue about 5 weeks ago.
After exchanging emails with Google Tech folks, it was determined that my Google Talk account had logged out.
They said that your market is tied to your google talk account.
I went through, deleted everything, re-added my google account, and made sure the GTalk was working, and bam, market began working.
I have a google apps account too.
Thanks guys for the response.
I tried removing my google account, cleared the cache and data, and re-added my google account, it still failed to work.
This is really frustrating. However, I was able to download Angry Bird Rios just now.
The funny thing was, the tab was showing "Install", instead of the usual "Free".
I am thinking that the probable reason why it was showing "Install", instead of "Free" was because I used to have this game in my account.

but i am still getting nowhere with all the solutions provided.
jus tried to log in the my google talk account, it's still the same.
now i am seeing viber with the "Install" tab on my Market, whereas the rest of the other apps are showing "Free".
I had the same issue, and the only way I was able to fix it was with a factory reset. I backed up all of my non-system apps with Titanium Backup, then wiped my data. When going back to restore apps and data, just let the Market re-download any apps you have backed up to your account, and use Titanium Backup only to restore the missing apps and data.
That would be my next suggestion. Complete backup, wipe, and reinstall. Once reinstalled, be careful not to click install more than once on an app -- this seems (to me) to cause instability. If an app doesn't start installing a few seconds after you hit the install button, disconnect and reconnect your wifi. If that doesn't clear it (although it always does, for me) an alternate method is to completely cold-boot the tablet.

How can I login to Android Market with a different Google account?

I've rooted my Fire and installed the Android Market without a problem. When I
first opened the market I logged in with my Google account to make sure everything
worked. Since I got this device for my dad, I'd rather he log in with his own Google
account. I've cleared the app data, and even deleted and re-installed. I can't get
the option to log in with a different google account and it stays with mine. Is there
a solution to this? Has anyone else experienced this?
Without access to the Account and Sync menu, I believe you'll need to uninstall and do a fresh reinstall of the market
I've uninstalled the market and re-installed with the apk. Or is there a more precise uninstall I should be doing?
In the Android development subforum here the long how to install market thread has reference to getting gmail to sync and those posts reference another thread with a link to a Sync Settings app. That will allow you to add another gmail account or delete one in addition to setting up sync items and auto sync. If I knew the post I'd gladly supply it but all I remember is where I found reference to the app.
Then just add your dad's email then subtract yours. Then to market and your set.

Worked great. I installed "Quick Sync Settings" from the market. Thank you for providing that link.
I just hit "menu" and added an account from the Market. Or maybe GMail. It was pretty simple, really.
The menu from the market app wash giving me the option. Not until I added another gmail account through the sync settings it did.
Hi I have a similar question but just about the amazon app store. I have been using a separate email account to buy apps than the one to buy all my kindles and books. Is there any work around to have both amazon.com accounts logged in or to keep the apps and books installed while I am on my other account or the other?
I have rooted the tablet and have my google market running fine so I might just have to stick to that.
Thank you
Can't you install Anycut from the android market, open it, create new activity, select accounts and sync or whatever the activity is called, and then go from there?
Additionally can you open the Gmail app, menu, accounts, add account...from here, go to the android market and then you should have 2 different gmail accounts to choose between?

Thanks for that. I tried it and it crashes the system. I actually have two account from google on my market, but my main problem is accessing the apps that are registered to my gmail account. Mainly because my kindle account is a separate email and every time you deregister the Kindle it deletes your books or installs the apps.

Yeah I am it's ok. One of thoes things that happens with rooting. I'll just wait and see when a rom comes out or might just try rerooting for the heck of it.
Thanks for your help
Anyone figure out how to remove the main gmail account without having to do a factory reset? I made the mistake of putting in an email address I didn't want to have added. I've already tried adding a second GMail account and removing the primary and got the prompt to factory reset.

Getting Market to Work After Deleting Accounts.DB

I recently got rid of my old gmail account and created a new one. I deleted accounts.db from my nook and re-registered with my new gmail address through the Market.
Gmail and calendars synced fine after this, but the Market will not download any apps and the Nook isn't listed as a device under my new google account.
Is there any way to fix this besides re-rooting? I was about to re-root, but after thinking about all the apps I have to reinstall and the settings I have to fix, I decided it wasn't worth it. I have my nook set up nicely and won't necessarily need the Market, plus I'm pretty sure I can still side-load apps anyways so could just find the APK for stuff instead.
But, if there is a way to fix the Market without re-rooting, I'd love to know.
It may be too late unless you have a backup containing the accounts.db file, but take a look at this.
Thank you so much for your response.
Although it was a frustrating process, I did end up re-rooting. It was worth it in the end to re-root. I also did not back up my accounts.db when I had deleted it, so as you said, I think it was too late to do anything about it.
But to add to the discussion, when I go to manage applications in the launcher I use, Home[+], there's no option to clear data for Google Apps, only to clear the cache. Other apps like Google Talk allow for their data to be cleared.
I use ADW Launcher and checked in the Manager section to see if I had the same situation. I do. Some Google apps have the "clear data" option, others do not.
