[SOLUTION] No Data After Flashing Wrong ROM - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi there,
I looked and looked, but I couldn't find anyone with this exact problem.
I recently flashed what I thought was a u8800-51 Rom onto a u8800-51 phone.
I was mistaken. The original poster was mistaken. (Thanks Odinforce, I'm sure you didn't know.)
Everything worked great. There were some new features, but when I went into "About phone" it said u8800Pro. I also noticed that my Data wasn't working. (Most likely because the ROM was from Chile. I am in the USA. (Chile uses a network called Entel? USA does not) besides I'm on AT&T anyways.)
Now some of you might be saying "Wait a second... That happened to me too!"
Do not worry. After searching all over, I found a solution.
I found a post by samcripp entitled "[APNs] For those having APN issues after unlock (att usa)"
Yeah it was in the Motorola Atrix 4G forums, but I thought "What can it hurt?"
So, I backed up my Rom using CWM, and used that method to try to fix it.
Guess what? I'm online with my phone again.

TELUS HTC P4000 (Canadian TITAN Counterpart)

Good morning Everyone,
I was looking into information on updating my Cell phone ROM as after some reading and searching I found out that this phone is GPS capable (Why they would sell it with the functionality disabled is beyond me.) On the Official HTC website I did find a new update that was released 08/06/2008 at the following link. CLICKY! . I am wounder if anyone else is having a problem downloading this file and installing it? I receive an error saying the file is corrupt and I should download the file again. I have tried downloading the file from two separate computers, tried all three mirror sites (US, Europe, Asia) and last but not least tried using three different web browsers. Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari for Windows.
I am curious if anyone knows of another mirror site for this newly released update that is working? Or of another way I can update to the same version. I am unfamiliar with the ROMs that are on this website (I could figure it out but am uneasy about installing something unofficial.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I also noticed that the file name "-HTC P4000 (Telus)-Telus_HTC_P4000_WM6_07252007.exe" Has an old date on it? I am hoping they just rebuilt a previous update, or they have not actually posted the new update and still have an old one which happens to not work. Just an observation I noticed.
PSS: I have sent in a technical help request through the online process of HTC asking for a link to a working .exe but I tend to find that out of the norm requests such as this do not turn out very well with corporations whose support team are really only knowledgeable in standard help desk things IE: I'm too stupid to turn on my phone can you help me?
Did you follow the instructions here?

I did a while back and it worked. If not, just switch to DCD's, it's awesome. Telus's 6.1 ROM doesn't enable your GPS.
Ya that is currently the ROM I am running, Maybe I am just mixed up. I looked at the HTC website for the TELUS rom and noticed the date for release was 08/06/2008 so I was under the assumption they had released an updated ROM that was a newer version then 2.13.661.2 which I am already running. One that would also patch the GPS (just a guess). However, I guess I will look into the DCD roms and see if I can fumble through the guides to get it loaded. Thanks anyways.
telus p4000 rom
I have a P4000 running on DCD 3.2.2 and Radio 3.42.2 gps enabled internet sharing enabled and many other stuff... this is just roocking the place.. Just forgot the official Rom and go for dcd you just have to follow all instructions be aware and youll anjoye all youre gona do with your phone
HTC P4000 rocks again!
Being half way through custom install (with all nightmares and mistakes ) I found this official update too. Confirm too: everything works as expected.
Took a while for GPS to pick up in Richmond Hill, Ontario, but the it worked like a charm!

2nd that. Upgraded from the old v2 and now to this one GPS and everything worked great with Google Maps.. I didn't bother stopping that customization thing like I've read in other post. Loaded that HTC home Plugin v2.1 on it and its fine.

Thinking of rooting, but have some possible issues to resolve?

Greetings all,
I used to have an HTC TYTN, and successfully flashed custom ROMs on it, although it required a lot of work. I recently purchased a HTC Hero, and am interested in rooting it, but I had a few questions for those of you capable of answering...
I live in Alaska, we do not have any major carriers up here except AT&T, so I have to use a local carrier called ACS - Alaska Communications Systems.
I wanted to know if anyone knew of a custom ROM or a way to set up a ROM to use that carrier. When I flashed my TYTN, I had to go back in and custom set a BUNCH of stuff with the help of another ACS customer who had a TYTN. The Sprint ROM I used set up things wrong - changed settings for data and such.
Secondly, I wanted to know if there is a way to root the phone without using a custom ROM? I've looked around briefly, but the 3 guides I've looked at all used a custom ROM.
Thanks in advance guys, and sorry if my questions seems stupid.
yea, you HAVE to root the phone to install a custom rom. So you can run a stock rom rooted. Someone else will have to help you with the setting up of the data on the phone. talk/text should be decently simple. MSL number probably needs to be set to 000000 and then a prl loaded for the provider you are using. Data will probably be a lot harder..
No, not yet. The problem is that it's using the older 2.6.27 kernel but it's patched for the known exploits. Keep an eye on the Droid Eris root status thread.
The Droid Eris is very similar to the HTC Hero and it's running the same kernel. Whatever exploit they find for root on the Eris should work on Alaska DigiTel or ACS versions of the Hero but of course there's no guarantee.
[Told this by someone else; new to this rooting scene]
Just to clarify... You don't NEED to root your phone to get your phone on the carrier you are using. All that is required is changing your MSL number and uploading your carriers PRL. Entering in the correct EPST settings could probably get your data working as well.. MMS and probably a host of other things will be a problem. NONE of this requires you to root your phone.
I thought Alaska Com sold the Hero...so its not like you are buying a Sprint one and taking it on their network are you?
If its an Alaska Com Hero - All of your stuff will work. However, I doubt our Asroot2 exploit works on it. I think the other Hero owners on networks other than sprint have been using the "gold card" method...and I have NO clue how to do that. I know you have to make a special SD card. But you should be able to load any of the hero roms since they don't mess with those carrier settings.
Search the sub-forum for GoldCard.
I wrote a guide on how to root with the GoldCard.
Just search my threads.

[Q] [Help] Need a developer please..

Ok, whats up guys, First off, My name is Silver, and I come to you in dire need of help.
Before I start, this is concerning the device, The Huawei Ascend (M860).
Recently, we here at myascend(dot)org have all been stuck on Android 2.1, and recently IcarusMod came out, and everyone updated to that.
But upon looking farther, I came across an 2.2 update that was released in China for the C8600 (The China Version of the M860). We tested it, and BAM! it worked...but with 2 problems. The Data Service and Wi-Fi did not work. Phone Calls and Text worked fine, but no Data. One of the Developers was able to crack the thing open and Deodex it and load it using Clockwork v2.5.1.8 (Which is how we got the phone calls working)
Apparently there are no APNs
I started doing some research and I thought that maybe if i transfer some of the system files like APN-Configs.xml into the zip, it might work. But alas, I failed.
MY QUESTION IS...Would a developer be nice enough to take this signed Froyo port and possible help make the Data work and Wi-Fi work. Here is the download for the Froyo Update(C8600)
(Note: FLASH USING CLOCKWORK v2.5.1.8)
Apparently, I cant post outside links, so if you could, please go to the site MyAscend(dot)org and you'll find my forum post under Development...Thanks...
Wrong forum I think.
bump?? This plox?
Check the build.prop for something like:
"rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhtc_ril.so"
Data wont work if it's pointing to the wrong, or a non-existent, file (correct me if i'm wrong).
Check your working ROMs and see what file it's pointing to, it might be different in the Chinese version.
Not got a clue about wifi though i'm afraid.
Ill do that! thanks, Ill talk to my friend about developing it....meh, this is gonna be a long project

[Q] Android Newbie

***UPDATE*** Damn. I ran the update (filename is RUU_Vision_BellMobility_WWE_1.34.666.1_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.18_M2_release_154437_signed.exe), and the update process began. It started off with "Erasing User Data"... then "Sending"... then quickly brought up a window that said:
ERROR [156]: IMAGE ERROR The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
This sounded like a good match for this device. I'm stuck now. Anyone have any ideas?
***old -UPDATE*** I found a Bell stock update... gonna try this out.. thanks for reading.
Hello all. Forgive me, I'm a Blackberry user and I just got an HTC Desire Z (it is locked to Bell in Canada - CDMA carrier?). I'm waiting for my unlock code to arrive (as I am on a different/GSM carrier) and I'm getting antsy to try it out.
I tried searching this forum tree using many different terms but all I've managed to find were custom ROMS and foreign official ones.
First thing I want to do is update it... I downloaded HTC Sync, which installed all the necessary drivers. (Except HTC Diag - found this online). So now I can connect it to my PC without any driver drama.
Then I went looking for an update. I found RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe (but to be honest I wasn't sure if this is correct for my phone - I tried it anyway). It got so far as to reboot the phone to start the process but it then told me it wasn't the right update for my phone.
So that's where I am right now. I've been reading a lot about rooting, etc. but don't even want to go that far just yet. I just want to start off by getting a nice official software update/rom to get this thing up-to-date.
Currently, the version on this phone is 1.01.666.1 (sounds pretty old to me). I want to get rid of this blasted watermark (and I'm hoping a software update will take care of this).
Which ROM/software update is right for this phone? Any info / links would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm assuming from your initial post that you're not on Bell Canada and are wanting to use it on a different carrier? If that's the case, use gfree (see the wiki) to unlock your device (and fully root it, if you want).

[Q] 3G Fix with Cyanogenmod 7.1

I have been trying to get the 3G patch done with CM7, but when I do the Custom Recovery, install Zip, and I select the 850/1900 3G fix zip, I get a "Amend scripting is long longer supported......switch to Edify scripting... to get a working update package."
I see some people copy/paste files in certain directories manually...Can someone give me the rundown on this, It's very frustrating not having the Defy on 3G. And yes, I have tried all the basebands in the utility.
Thanks
Paul
Hey Paul,
So you're having 3g problem with cm7? Could I ask you which build you have installed (name of the zip file's ok)?
I haven't heard anyone using a 3g fix on cm7 for months and I mean almost never and maybe not since before the RC releases anyways. The proof is also that your patch doesn't work because is coded in amend and that means before cm7 and ClockWorkMod recovery v3.0..
But if it is still what you want to do, could you also post it here (attach it or give me a link for it) and I will have a look for you. Then I can either tell you where and how to replace files or even create a new patch that will work on newer CWM recovery.
Cheers.
Hey Al, Thanks a bundle, Like Ive said in another post, I've been dealing with mobile phone for a long time, and now when the tables have turned cause I feel like a n00b. LOL
I have the latest Cyanogenmod: CM7.1.0-jordan-signed. It's in my unlocked Defy which has the bands UMTS 900/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 HSDPA. I need the 850/1900. I chose in the selector all the basebands that use this combo but nada. I even got help from my local carrier for firmware information, but even so I cant find that firmware anywhere. So i wanna try all my options before I call Motorola or flash my phone to stock and send it to get replaced, complaining that I cant use my network. My phone was purchased last Thursday.
So that's that. My phone also is a Euro Variant.
Cheers,
Paul
Here is the "patch" that won't run
Fix_3g_850.1900Mhz-signed.zip: 850, 1900MHz
http://www.mediafire.com/?31y36az6r2w8jws
In another Android Forum, they ran it on Cyanogenmod 7.1 using custom recovery and fix the solution. But it won't run from mine.
Paul
UPDATE: Another member from GrupoAndroid, re-built this for CM7, i ran it and didnt solve my issue.
Info
Hey Al,
Someone on another forum told me that to regain the 3G on my phone there is a Chinese ROM that fixes the band issue, have you heard of this?
Hey Paul,
I had a look and yes that patch is just the radio files and probably old ones because the patch was coded in Amend.
So I've made a new one in Edify that should work; I mean now install properly on your version on CWM recovery as I have no clue if this will really solve your 3G problems.
Before you install it though, either make a nandroid backup of your current build (recovery->backup/restore->backup (all)) OR simply make a copy of the whole bp_nvm_default folder located in /system/etc/motorola as a safety net.
Lastly, I would also suggest you to give a shot and the other patch (baseban139.zip) that I found here which apparently contains the same but most recent Defy radio files.
So flash either or and see how it goes...
I hope it fixes your problem and if it does; I charge one hit on the "Thanks button"
Cheers,
/ AL
Oki doke.....installing 3G fix attempt. (i did backup)
.....FAIL. No Service. Selected network unavailable.
No Voice nor Data.
Should I flash the baseband file you made over this or should I restore first?
I went ahead and did the baseband zip install,
Voice: Available
Data: EDGE
Any other suggestions? No 3G....
No thanks for me then... ;-) --> but I might remind you that i did put time into this for you; making the pach, the replies and all --> so it would be nice of you to recognize that somehow............
No sorry, none that I can think of anyway.
Try to ask on the main CM7 thread maybe...
I'm on telus having issue finding a radio that works well and 3g does not work just wondering if you could give me a hand I flash cm7.1 on the defy after rooting, all I get is a H on my data connection
