Watch out 6.2.2 is here - Kindle Fire General

KINDLE is updating again. MY just got 6.2.2. I thought I had all the fixes in place, but now I screwed again.

Does it ask you if you want to accept the update? Or it just does what the hell it wants?
I am on CM7, so I am guessing I have no worries.

we had the same idea:

It just updates without you knowing/doing anything. Since you're on CM7, you don't have to worry about it.

I could be wrong, but Jcase's burrito root and superuser should still fix it. I'm checking on it now.

who can post this new bin file?

you can download it from here:

i took the same link as for 6.2.1 and changed to the new filename
why should they change their servers ?

Anyone have any details about the update? What's new?

Another site had someone saying that there is a button for fullscreen in the videos. Haven't been able to find it or any other changes. Go Launcher started right up from the get go.

I've got an issue here. My KF was rooted, but it autoupdated to System Version 6.2.2 and Now it's unrooted and I can't seem to reroot it. Everything shows up in device manager. Suggestions for this n00b?

Many times haha
It keeps saying "adbd cannot root in production builds" or something along those lines
Perhaps downloading the 6.2.1. will restore it? http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_navbox_kspot_fireupdate?nodeId=200790620

the solution is to delete burritoroot and root again allthrough the newest kfu should not have this problem any more

Froyo OTA Finally!

Just reporting that i received the Froyo OTA a few minutes ago. I have a Nexus one, rooted & unlocked, running frf72 rom from tesla. I was prompted to restart, and it went into the recovery screen, then it said installation had failed, could not authenticate. I assume this is because my phone is rooted and unlocked. I'm on T-mobile in dallas tx in case anyone was wondering
This is good news! Given you're not bluffing. It should still install even though your device is rooted, no?
So you don't have to dig through the thread
here it is!!!
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-FRF83-from-FRF50.38d66b26.zip
so can you post a link to the ota download?
Could try to flash stock and see if you can update and dump.
Just logcat right from a reboot
Post the llog!
How does one go about discovering the Google server address to download the OTA? Just curious, but never thought to ask...

Is this real?
I mean if there 'was' a true OTA would Google have not notified via the usual channel? It certainly would be a good day for some froyo with Droid X announcement and a day before the iPhone.

adb logcat while you are starting up and then allow it to download
from a command prompt
adb logcat >> logcat62310.txt
would be perfect, then you can upload that TXT file for the experts to find the link, since it will be filled with garbage

But boot.img is totally similar to x.3.2.5 and changed files are apps, frameworks and trapz_scripts only. So towelroot must work.

2.5 won't let us downgrade currently. I wonder if 3.2.6 will. I really doubt it.
I am 95% positive towelroot will not work, unless Amazon got REALLY stupid (and I don't even have the HDX).

I don't know what you mean by "totally similar", but one small change in the boot image is all that is required to patch towelroot. Take every update with a grain of salt...

No change to kernel or recovery between 3.2.5 and 3.2.6--binary-compared those files within the BIN archive, and they're bit-for-bit identical.
There were noticeable changes to both kernel and recovery between 3.2.4 and 3.2.5 which probably accounts for 3.2.5---and 3.2.6--unable to roll back.
I can confirm that towelroot works.
So how would I flash a bin file?
I guess no one knows then?

If you are speaking about the update bin file you simply copy it to your sdcard and go to settings/device/system update and check now.

Just another confirmation that towelroot does support/works to root the latest update ie., 13.3.2.6 :good:
I have not installed SU yet or attempted to block any future updates. I have read that renaming the proper odex file can stop future updates--any info on this method or other ways to accomplish would be appreciated. I would like to prevent losing root when another update comes along.
Thanks all.

Hello,

I Don't see an option to run updates from there! I too am already on 4.5.3 and would rather like to rollback to an earlier version if it is indeed possible using this rollback file.

Just want to confirm it worked on my 4.5.3 too... switched wifi off first and all seems good !
Rollback from 4.53 to 3.2.8 also confirmed for me!
Many thanks ONYXis, that worked perfectly! I too can confirm that it worked and I have rolled back from 4.5.3 to 3.2.8.
Can hardly believe it was that easy. Now too look around some more to find out what I can do now I am finally rooted.
Thanks for your help.

Just had a thought, as we effectively rolled back our devices, does that mean we will NOT get ota updates from Amazon now? It would be pretty handy if they didn't work oat now. Save is from worrying about losing root access
has anyone tried this on 4.5.2?

Question Issue updating to 1.1.2 OTA

Hey everyone, I am having an issue where my phone will not update to the 1.1.2 even when I have removed magisk and also disabled all modules. I am on the GL version and have not found an OTA update to sideload as of yet only the EEA version. Any ideas? I reallt want to update so I can root 1.1.2 but obviously at this point I have no access to the OTA. The error is "Installation will continue when device isn't being used. To install now, tap Resume." I press resume then it says Installation problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.
