Hi everyone, i have just got my self a Xoom MZ604 WiFi UK version and i want to flash the US GED firmware but before i do i would like to know the answers to a few questions regarding the US rom.
1) Does the US firmware contain English UK language?
2) If i flash the US firmware will i then get future OTA updates directly from Google? eg: GED OTA firmware updates.
3) Do i really need to unlock/lock the bootloader to flash the US firmware.
Thanks!

1) Yes
2) Yes (as long as you stay stock and relock the bootloader)
3) Yes
If i'm wrong about any of the above please correct
You don't need to relock the boot loader.
I remember reading it is recommended not to re lock..

I did exactly what you've described - bought a UK wifi MZ604, flashed it to US 'GED' with US stock (HWI69) software. I then received the Honeycomb OTA updates up to HTK75D (3.2.1). I've now patched to ICS 4.0.3 using the Moto soak build test file (USB host / USB method).
You don't need to relock the boot loader. And the build contains UK English keyboard but only US English language. There are only 3 language options - US English, Spanish & French. That is what I saw in both HTK75D and IML77.

Is the market in dollars or pounds?
Pounds
I also have MZ604 from UK, I have flashed HWI69 before - bootloader was unlocked and relocked after I have finished with updating.
Then all OTA update came automatically. Since then I have been using Team EOS ICS ROM - which I had to unlock the bootloader again.
Now I'm on ICS IML77 - I used the stock ROM from stachre which I have flashed with CWM. No problem at the moment.
Thanks for the input guys, i flashed the US rom and found, as said above, that English UK language is not present, the English UK keyboard is though, so i went back to stock, i think i'll wait a while to see if if the UK gets an official ICS update.

is there any difference to english US 'language' and using the english UK keyboard layout?
i haven't noticed any problems yet... back in the old days of 3.1/3.2 there were some issues with the external BT keyboard but then we didnt have english UK as a keyboard option then...
I'm more than happy using the UK xoom with US image, so curious to see what the difference is
I suppose spelling colour as color etc, no biggie!

on the US GED version?
I know there was some fixes to push in custom keyboard layout, I think 3.2 had the UK language first but I didnt think 3.1 did...?
Wouldn't using UK keyboard take care of that. I am in India where we follow UK English as well. Just flashed US ROM on my MZ604, installed SwiftKey Tablet keyboard and selected the correct language nd colour is now colour and realize is realize.

I thought you were referring to US GED 3.2.
To be fair, when I stuck the US GED rom on my UK wifi Xoom, it upgraded itself all the way through to 3.2 before I got a chance to play with it, so I don't know what 3.1 had. 3.2 definitely had the UK keyboard though.

Hi,
I've just updated my Legend to the 2.03.403 version. So far i noticed that there's a new version of the quickoffice, improved performance and battery. Most Important multi-touch (pinch zoom)for Google maps!Has anybody figured out any new / additional feature beside what i mentioned ?
Without a garantueed method to root this update or a pre-rooted version I won't touch this even with a ten-foot pole.
Just convert your sdcard into goldcard. That's it. Launch the official RUU file...install it... and you're ready!
No, I was not talking about "How can I do this" but about the implications of that update.
There is no root-version of it for now, or is there?
The version is unrooted. Nothing will be rooted. You're using an original version with no changes... should be totally fine.
If you flash this to your rooted phone, you loose the rooting..
I didn't have rooted it. Just goldcard. And yes you loose the root.
this new firmare is out from today? WHere can I read my firmware version to check what version I have?

No OTA for now, you have to flash this like a normal rom, but you might need a Goldcard.
So:
Create Goldcard (It's somewhere on this forum)
Put the Goldcard in your phone
Turn on the phone
Connect your phone to your pc
Run the RUU from your pc and follow the steps
It should flash the new rom, but remember that you'll loose root!
If you haven't rooted, there is no problem
One change I've noticed is that I can now use the map background from Terra Time - it would not work before.
Now that I have installed this update does it mean that I can no longer root my phone?
Another change - I can now open up the full youtube site when tethered instead of getting palmed off to the mobile site.
Hi, Can anyone tell me if the new firmware has Cyrillic keyboard?

It has Russian keyboard, but it is hidden (at least, on my phone).
I had to set my locale to Russian with MoreLocale. This switches the entire UI to Russian unfortunately, but enables Russian in HTC IME.
Same was true for my original 1.xx ROM.
...
just updated on ger unbranded legend with win7 pro 64 bit without any problem... now testing ;-) ...
Is there swedish language included in this?
Is this ROM have English lang available on it? I bought my legend from india (1.32).
Will i be able to get OTA updates from HTC after flashing this ROM? I guess i ll also lose my warranty?
Please tell me as i want to flash this ROM desparately.
Hi guys,
My software version on phone is:
1.31.405.5
My locale is English(Norway).
Why don't i get OTA update 2.13.xxxx or any update begin with 2?
When i go to HTC official support site i see that only when i choose India as country i can see this update.Strange.How to know the region on my phone? Is it based on locale? For example if i choose English(norway)than my region is Europe. That's a bit confusing for me.Can someone explain
Thanks in advance
I am in the same situation (locale English (Czech Republic)). Have no idea why am I still on 1.31.405.5. I hope the Froyo will be avaiable to all regions at the same time (at least in europe).
it wont be that way, there will be differences of a week at least, thats how they do it , i believe they don't won't to stress the downlad servers
There were definitely some issues with the 2.xx upgrade (I lost Wifi capabilities until I forced a revert back to 1.31 firmware and reupdate) so it wouldn't surprise me that the update got pulled.
Can be.So we have to wait for Froyo
Thanks
Although the update for the HTC legend is available and many have successfully updated their phone to version 2.05.405.2. I did not get this update!
I have contacted HTC support and they said:
"Dear Mr.Mrdja Thank you for contacting HTC. Kindly note that your device is up to date and there is no other ROM update available for the moment. Please check our website periodically and search for the latest updates. If you have any other inquiries , do not hesitate to contact us again. Please note that you can contact us via support line For further details, please go to http://www.htc.com/europe/CA_Hotline.aspx Thank you so much for using HTC products . If it was branded! Unless I am mistaking?
If it's rooted, flashing an OTA would remove the root and then becomes more complicated to get it back (needs to downgrade back that 1.31 again)
So you may just want to flash it yourself with recovery/ClockWorkMod

I have the same problem aswell. HTC support suggested a factory reset, but that didn't help.

2.10 is a Vodafone AU rom
1.31.405.5 is a WWE rom
Somehow, there's no upgrade path to get to 2.03.405.3
Kwen, thanks for the information.
I've contacted with HTC support and this is what they say:
Kindly be informed that the latest update released for your handset is the 1.31.X version, for the time being, there're no further upgrades for your handset, please note that the HTC Legend is one of the devices that received the Android 2.2 upgrade, however, for the time being, there's no information regarding its date of release.
Please note that the update will initially roll out to unlocked HTC Desire handsets. Operator specific versions of the update are undergoing testing and we expect to make them available in several weeks’ time.”

I don't see the point of the branded devices getting updates that stock free devices don't get... very strange: I thought that first an official OTA update comes out and then each company modifies this update to put it's ****ty logos and shortcuts.
So... the latest WWE version is 2.03.405.3, but im still on 1.31.405.5 ... !!! WTF !??!
Is there a way to manually update my phone or something or some guide for RUU ... ?!
Froyo is on the way and i don't think i can get it without the latest update!!

For some reason there is no direct upgrade path from 1.31.405.5 to 2.03.405.3. The 2.03 RUU is here.
But at this point I have no idea which WWE versions they're going to release OTA updates for - because I'm assuming many people do not RUU their phones and are therefore still on 1.31 like you. Also some others are on the 2.05.405.2 ROM that was faulty and therefore that OTA update was pulled!
Thx dude !
hi guys,
I've done some research on this forum and found out (if I'm not mistaken) that HTC must have pulled the OTA update to 2.03 off their site because of the SMS bug. So basically there's no official (direct) way of updating from 1.31 to 2.03/2.05, if you want, you can still download the shipped one from shipped rom and flash it manually!
I'm considering waiting for froyo or updating my (rooted) 1.31 to (rooted) 2.03 though.

Why would you update to 2.03 instead of Froyo if your phone is already rooted? Check the Development section. There are several rooted Froyo ROMs out and you can still revert if you don't like it.
Wondering about 1.31.405.5 Froyo
Hello everyone,
I love this script on zubu.ca/legend/fota_check.php and I've lost the count on how many times I pressed F5 while on it, but still no luck for me.
I've got an HTC Legend (unbranded with carrier Vodafon). It's got build 1.31.405.5 (CL154058 RK) and according to the FOTA-checker there's no update available.
My question is basically: Why is there no update, and do I need another update before I get the Froyo update? I know HTC stated that every Legend will have Froyo by the 5th of december and it's not the 5th yet. But still, many Legends have it already and like I said I'm bad at waiting XD
Thanks in advance.
does anyone have any news about the italian firmware for milestone 2.
is there a way to get a dump of the latest version of the italian fw.
the phone was announced last week and should be in stores very soon.
Since the only .sbf available were obtained on a motorola server, which is now closed, it's very unlikely that an italian firmware goes out.
At best, somebody will be kind enough to make a nandroid backup and share it.
Since uk and italy use the same keyboard layout, and same baseband frequencies, why don't you use the uk .sbf? (which surely has italian support)
it's because there are several bugs in the uk release and I know for sure that most of them were corrected with the italian version.
for example in the recent calls contact pictures are messed up (you see the wrong picture with the calls list); that was solved in the italian retail firmware.
thank you anyway for your kind answer.
ZTE Blade will soon celebrate it's 1th birthday and there is still no official update to Android 2.2. So i'm asking: when it will be finally finished? I really can't stand 2.1 (especially a think, that i cannot save my apps on memory card). I know that it was released in Finland, but why there? Why not for exaple in UK (only it may be in engilsh)... I'm really sad about this. So, does anyone know when finally there will be official update?
sorry for my bad English..
thanks, mirko185
With the price being so low in the UK I have my doubts that 2.2 will get released here.
Can someone please point me to a guide on the official 2.2 ROMs which I assume can be installed.
ZTE has released Froyo kernel(2.6.32) source code for the Blade... Check "System Equipment" under front page top "Support" link.
yes, I've already noticed it, but it doesn't helps me anyway... And they have so slow servers, and really non-systematic website..

I tryed the Hungarian T-Mobile one, but unfortunately it didn't work for my device, it says that my device has another version. I think it's becouse of my phone is from Slovak Orange. thanks anyway.

edit: to get this working I downloaded this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.apedroid.pigfish to make sure my device is gen1
I then downloaded this http://www.wuala.com/peanut_hu/OSF_Blade/ROMs/fonix232/T-Mobile_HU_memory_fix_ROM which is the gen1 t-mobile hungarian eclair rom, you extract this and place this on your blade's sdcard, so sdcard/image/
turn your blade off, hold down volume + and power button, and the blade will flash the eclair rom, after this you need the above t-mobile hungarian froyo rom, http://www.t-mobile.hu/lakossagi/keszulekek/szoftverfrissites/telefon/zte_blade_2 , start your blade in FTM mode, hold volume - and power on device, flash from windows. Let it complete to 100%, all done, now running an official froyo rom
GREAT!! I gonna try this out right now!
edit:well, i relazed my blade is not rooted, so i cannot flash eclear ROM.. is there another way to install this eclear?
edit1: well, I managed to flash the hungarion officila om from T-mobile, but I can't start the phone cousa it's asking me code for unblock networks.. I try to search this out, BTW, If u did the same thing as me, do u have this code too?
The network unlock code is unique for each device.
You can get your code to network unlock your blade for free by typing your phones IMEI number here: http://arrtoo.x10.mx/unlockBlade.php
'Arr Too' over at modaco is hosting this for the blade
