Okay I did some research on the Rom. Everyone raves about the speed and how battery last longer then the stock or cm6 roms. It looks very iphony to me. How smooth is the Rom? How is it working out for you miui users. Is it worth the time? I am very satisfied with cm6. Haven't thought of switching but I want to give it a try. Please let me know.
try out the rom yourself, its not going to kill you
I gave it a go. It is very iphone-ish, but not so much that it bothered me or was distasteful. I saw no increase in battery life or speed, even though I'm sure tests might prove it, nothing that makes a noticeable difference in day to day usage. I eventually went back to enoms rom with wildmonks kernal.

miui
well, I didnt wanna try it out either because I really dont like the iphone interface, but turns out that I did try it and I love it!
I didnt use the stock launcher though, thats what made it iphone like.
Im using launcher pro and adw so I get pretty much all the benefits of the rom. It is a very fast rom. probably as fast as all the other really. but for some reason, its really smooth. its a completely new version of android I would say.
give it a try with another launcher. I think you might like it. also, try out wildmonks kernels. they seem pretty fast and stable for me
Which Rom do you recommend? Rodriguez or dj's? Wildmonks kernel is the best. Not a big fan of iPhone but will use launcher pro or adw launcher.
Im using rodriguez. It seems to be the easiest one file flash type of rom.
Rodriguez is what I used. Was very nice and launcher pro worked great with it. It also has some nice features with it. I might give it another go myself, but with gingerbread around the corner, I dunno. Plus it's just hard to give up enoms.

im using it with adw launcher and i love it. there isnt really any increase in performance that ive noticed but i love how you can go straight to sms app from the lock screen.
Rod's MIUI rom's rock...happy flashing!
And read his thread posts for details & info
I've been using Rodriguez MIUI roms for a while now. Every once in a while I flash something else including a few Sense ones and CM6.1 but the MIUI roms simply dust them in speed and responsiveness.
I don't really like the icons so much but I can easily overlook them with the huge increase in speed, stability over CM and the latest (1.8.1) with Wildmonks kernel gives me better battery life than I have EVER had.
I really like MIUI for a couple of reasons. The ability to create folders on the home screen makes finding my apps faster and more organized, as I like to load down my phone with more apps than I ever would really use. I also really like what they've done with the dialer and in-call menu, as it gives you bigger buttons and indicators for Bluetooth connectivity and such. I've lost track of how many times I've forgotten to turn on Bluetooth prior to making a call, and ROMs based on the stock Froyo only have the small icon on the status bar to let you know whether Bluetooth is connected, so I often ended up sitting there listening to silence for a few seconds before realizing the problem. Even answering a call is somewhat easier, as you swipe down instead of sideways, and that's especially useful for the times when I'm asleep and get awoken by a call.
Then there's always the other assorted UI improvements that aren't particularly necessary, but still cool nonetheless. There's a cool visualizer that plays along with your music on the lock screen, in addition to controls on the lock screen for your music. The stock wallpapers are really nice too, and after using CyanogenMod I started getting tired of seeing the color cyan. The top bar is transparent too, so it will always look nice with whatever wallpaper you choose. Despite taking some cues from Apple's iOS UI, I actually think MIUI does it better.
The look of the icons is my only gripe with MIUI, but that can be changed with themes of course. Speed wise, I haven't noticed a whole lot of improvement, and I think that's because I don't often have many apps all running at once. What really matters to me is usability, and in that department MIUI shines, and hopefully will only get better.
I use the miui rom as well with Launcher Pro. The Battery life rocks. thats my main reason I use it.

I thought we've always been able to do this with even a stock n1, no? I never use it, but thought it's always been there.

I did it I flashed it made it like I had it before. Seems little zippy. I like the lock screen. We will see how everything works in couple of days.
Is there a theme for this Rom?

it is not hard hard to make a nadroid backup, flash a rom and try it, if you don't like it, may be go back?. People's inputs are biased and you may have a different experience than what others tell you.
One thing is sure, MIUI rom is more composed than the stock experience you get from CM.

Meh. Tried it, didn't like it. Went back to CM nightly. MIUI is not in any way faster or better on battery than CM or stock rom. That's all hype and placebo. And imo, LauncherPro2 is way better than MIUI launcher.
But, some people like it, and I'm glad we have a choice.

I agree. I was using miui not so long back, and its certainly a nice rom, and unlike many,i certainly don't mind the iphone look. However, the talk of it being faster and having better battery life than others is incorrect. I'm now using geos frg83 rom which is largely stock, and the speed and battery life are identical. I decided to start using that as I got sick of constantly updating newer versions of the rom, and all the issues it used to bring. However it is a very polished rom, but with ginger bread around the corner, I will just hold off until then.
As an out of the box rom though it is very nice and polished.
i am using cm 6.1 rc1 right now

As far as am aware the messaging thing used to be an issue a few updates ago but I think it's fine now. Maybe someone else could clarify. If anything perform a nandroid backup just in case.
I personally think that miui currently outshines the rest, it's my rom of choice on my n1.
ya , ill give it another try
thnx , i just miss the 3d app drawr in launcher pro
CM6.1 or MIUI (probably Rod's).
I do like the look of MIUI but I'd rather have the fastest, most stable setup and one with the greatest functionality.
These are both looking very good indeed these days.
So which one and why?
try them both a decide for yourself that's what its all about...you r just gonna get back and forth comments/bickering asking a question like that in here..try searching next time
Enomther's The Official.
Stock, all sorts of optional features, easiest method ever for enabling apps2ext, and stable
how can u go wrong
You won't get many replies.
WHY?
Everyone will most likely tell you to just try it yourself.
Every ROM in my sig has proven to be stable. I like to try different ones out.
As long as you are rooted, and have a custom recovery installed, nothing is stopping you from doing a nandroid backup and playing with a new ROM.
"fastest, most stable setup and one with the greatest functionality."
That's all up to you. What you may consider "greatest functionality" may be bloat to someone else.
Personally, I really liked MIUI by Rodriquez.

Tried that ROM myself for a couple of days during the week. Love the FM Radio and features. But stable? Meh. I suffered apps closing/crashing unexpectedly throughout the day. Stable it wasn't.
If you want super stable, then GEO's ROM is superb. Only downside is no FM Radio.
Just my personal experience.
why not cm 6 R2 ? (or nightlys)
If you want my personal opinion (other than 'try them out for yourself), MIUI is great because of all of the interface tweaks. The lockscreen is gorgeous, the theming capability is awesome, and the settings UI is awesome.
I've been more than pleased with Kang-o-rama 1.0 b1. It's a build of CM6 RC1 with a handful of graphical niceties and solid Apps2ext functionality. The support the author provides is incredible as well. I try a lot of other ROMs, but that's the one I keep coming back to.
But as the others have said, try them all and make up your own damn mind. What one person loves about a ROM might be another person's pet peeve.

Geo's ROM's are great, I had one for quite a while. I don't know why you're getting issues with Enom's ROM, but it is very very stable. That's the reason people who use it, use it over CM. My uptime on my phone gets up to 100 hours without any force closes or issues, and even then it's me, I'm just flashing something else or changing a feature which requires reboot.
Geo's roms have been light, fast & very stable for me!

Yes, I love Kang-o-rama
Well I tried the MIUI one (Rod's) and it just rebooted on me for no reason today.
Looks like it's CM6.1 next for me.
I was using Geo's then I got a message saying it wanted to do an update, then failed, but I could not get rid of that message.
Perhaps I should have got a Desire as I do like Sense, but the Sense ROM for the N1 was not stable IMO.
I'm using Rod's MIUIMOD 1.9.1(with wildmonks kernel) and never had a single reboot or stability problem.
Also, i've tried Enomther and MicroMOD's(also the Desire SuperHybrid) ROMs, and they were stable for me.
If all were unstable in your case, then maybe you're doing something wrong.
Did you for example wipe three times from recovery before flashing a completely different ROM?
In the past i've also had stability problems when using titanium backup to restore settings, so keep that in mind.
Also, you could try to use different kernel with somewhat higher voltage ( wildmonks for example http://wildmonks.whoisthedrizzle.com/kernel/2.6.35/112610/Custom_Kernels/ ).
Most ROM"s use kernel which are slightly under-volted to increase battery life(1050mv is the default stock kernel voltage if I remember correctly), but some devices don't like the lower voltages.
Should be clear, I never tried the ones you mentioned, it was the NXsense one I tried - it had a few silly little bugs but nothing major, just enough to be somewhat annoying.
Yes I do wipe, and am using the wildmonks kernel now.
I'm using stock MIUI with english pack and in my opinion...is more stable and smoother than CM 6.1... I check out CM rom yesterday and the ADW launcher still sucks..and Launcher Pro haven't adjust very well with some of the new effects and setting that CM have put in...my opinion MIUI stock..(not Rods Rom) with english pack...way better for now...and if you are a Launcher Pro fan...works awesome with MIUI....just my opinion

IMHO:
MIUI, although a great show of design/function ingenuity, is a toy. It's a pretty, flashy toy. It's filled with stuff, and design is confusing. Everything's all over the place, there's too many features (yeah, I know, crazy) and too much stuff going on.
CM6.1, besides being more stable (majority would agree), it's android as google meant it. It's pristine, clean and just looking at it makes u feel confident in its stability. It's simple, yet advanced. Fast, yet reliable.
I definitely recommend CM over MIUI, but, of course, it's all individual prefs.

Why is the theming awesome? I have yet to see a MIUI theme that themed the whole ROM. The ugly dialer, MMS and Contacts app are always left out. Most of the themes are just icons and wallpaper.
As to the UI if it is so great why do most use Launcher Pro with it. To me... JMHO it looks like Windows 3.1 with a splash of color

Yup!
Windows 3.1 with a bunch of apps that look like the team never had a meeting
Definitely enomther's the official.
Tried CM, was ok, a tad unstable at times and I'm not a nightly person. If you want a rom to use for at least a month, don't use something that doesn't have a Final build and has to undergo nightly revisions. I got sick of having to flash CM everytime a nightly comes out.
I dislike MIUI. Enough said. Up to personal preference. Really dislike the iphoney crap.
If you want a somewhat stable sense rom, I recommend Evil's NXSense.
Like most others here have said, you gotta try them out to decide.
I originally tried a bunch of Roms and didn't like all the "bloat". I settled on Geo's rom because it basically is a pre-rooted and ready to go stock rom with some little bonuses.
After a while I tried MIUI's because of the newer UI. I quickly lost interest with the quirky lockscreen, phone, and messaging apps. I used Launcher Pro as I hate the cluttered iPhone desktop. Dialer Oned out the phone from the same lack of dial-by name and quirky facebook intergration. I tried Stock MIUI and Rods (I liked Rods).
Then I settled on CM6.1 which had the nice customizable dropdown menu toggles, taskbar color modifications, and additional features that were available.
Since I've seen the new MIUI theming capabilities but I don't think I'm quite ready to switch from CM's. I use the nightlies now and I'm now using a lot of the tweaks that I know I will ultimately regret on other roms.
But this is the perk of a Nexus. I just download and keep a bunch of roms on my phone's SD card... able to switch to whatever in minutes. Thus don't be afraid to do the same.
Also what I've learned is that no matter what rom you use, once you install Dialer One and Launcher Pro... they all feel the same aside from the little perks one may offer over the other.
So yes this is my idea. I would like to get a colelctive together. Since it is hard to go through hundreds of pages. Trust me I ahve been reading like crazy and trying to find a good one. Well trying to find one that ha the potential to mature very well. :}
But for now what roms are you using? Any good/bad things to say about it?
There is the rom wiki that the devs should update, but don't really too much anymore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs
Now is this Gingerbread roms in general?
Ya know hell yea why not in general. not many stock rooted roms. When i say Stock rooted I am talkign about stock basee but with enhancements.
But any rom in general would be good. I am trying to get a feel for whats out there and dont have the time to flash a bunch of roms.
Right now, you have to think about what you want, exactly, because you have choices, so I'll try to outline some of the pluses and minuses.
AOSP. This would be CM7, and ROM's developed off of this build, ie, Destroyer, SalvageMod and Savaged-Zen for example.
The pluses, highly customizable, you can get excellent battery life with the custom AOSP Kernels, and pretty much everything works, and there are a lot of options for setting up your preferences.
The downside, well, not much of one, other than the Base ROM is pretty ugly, Flat looking, so if you like the polish of Sense, it's not here, but there ARE some good themes.
MIUI MIUI is kind've like having an Iphone, in how's user interface is setup, A LOT of customization options, good battery life and a great DEV community. Some things don't work though, like 4G and HDMI, is I remember correctly. To me, MIUI is like setting up Linux after having run Windows for many years.
The thing I don't like, is all the apps on the desktops. There are a ton of Youtube videos that you can use to see how it looks and works.
Froyo Based ROMS, are great because everything works, they're usually themed well and there are endless mods to customize how your setup looks, etc. You can get awesome battery life with the right kernel. Nice, stable, solid, good looking. I recommend Koni Elite III as I used that as a daily driver for a long time.
GB 2.3.3 ROMS. These are the newest ROMS there are, and are based off of the Evo Shift which has Sense UI 2.1, while the Evo is stuck with 1.0, so you have a lot of updated Sense Apps. A lot of 3.0 Apps are being ported to these ROMS. And there are some GREAT ones. MikG is very stable. Synergy, same thing, and everything seems to work well, although different phones react differently. Evoking's Alliance ROM is based on MikG but has some sweet themeing work dome to it and the carousel style Rosie works. There are a few others, so you'd have to read up on them.
The down side, well, for one, no custom kernel exists, because the source code for the stock kernel has not been released yet, so battery life is pretty tame. Also, there is no HDMI out and like I Said, some phones thrive with these setups and some are just not working out well, but I run a GB 2.3.3 ROM, because they are cutting edge and all the biggest names are working on them, creating some real nice work. So it can only get better.
hope this helps, man.
Kings Roms are by far my favorite after having many by different devs. heres the link.. its an amazing rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1120734
I ran a few GB based roms before settling on MikG 2.15 and I find Mik's to be the best one yet.
dc13's TiX GB ROM is nice too. Very stock feel, but optimised. I still run his ROMs on my Moment and my son's Transform with great success. Battery life on those phones are amazing, getting 40+ hours out of a charge.
I use MIUI as my daily driver even though I live in a 4G area. Lots of features and add ons that are not found elsewhere. Good feel but a bit quirky at times.
Of the Sense.GB roms I've flashed, I liked MikG, Synergy and dc13's. All are very well done
Evo HW 003
MIUI 1.6.17
+ 1 on kings Rom....7.4t....best and smoothest out there.
Oh cool, 7.4 is out? I'll have to check it out.
I'm running MikG v2.2 and really like it. The only complaint I have is that the Google Talk video chat feature is sideways. This is a feature I was looking forward to so the fact that it's bork is kind of a bummer to me but if you don't care about that it's a great ROM.
I am just waiting on some more updates and see who I will go with lol. See who becomes the most stable in two weeks time etc.
Looking to install an aosp rom on my friends incredible, wondering which is the fastest and stable
this has been debated millions of times and will continue to be. MIUI has never been nice to me. CM7 has always been my phones home, and i havent flashed anything to my phone in about 3 weeks, and i can tell you that its the most stable ive ever had my phone. nightly 181.
Different people have different tastes, try em both out and see which one your friend likes more.
I'll second CM I haven't flashed anything since I got it.
thanks guys
MIUI has more UI tweak options and themes. CM7 is more stable and has better ROM tweaks and such.

Miui is great. Fast. Stable. And battery is the best I've ever had. My question is which is better miui or stock and why?
I've weighed some reasons but like both. Thoughts?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
Okay, both of them are very stable and mature ROM's.
However CM7 leads in the majority of the Incredible's development.
MIUI has used many parts from CM7 to make it the ROM it is now.
MIUI has it's own custom UI implemented that tends to run a little sluggish as well.
CM7 is quicker and more solid, however it is pretty bare UI-wise. There are tons of options to customize it though:
-Android kitchen (google it!)
-Widget locker
-Custom Launcher (Launcher Pro+ ftw)
-Custom Icons/Dock background (easy to do with LP+)
and loadddss more
MIUI is a nice package and still is superb on battery, stability and performance.
While MIUI does run sluggish with he stock launcher all you have to do is replace it with a custom launcher and its as smooth as anything else. Ill second the issue that I get great battery life even better so than I did on CM7. One big feature for me since I work night shift is MIUIs ability to use the do not disturb feature. I haven't find even a third party app that comes close to the simplicity of this feature. Just my 2 cents
Miui has ran pretty good for me, but I am always changing roms
I don't find MIUI to be sluggish with the stock launcher, what in specific are you guys referring to that find it "slower" than CM7 / 3rd part launchers?
I typically end up jumping back and forth between MIUI and CM7, both run fast and are smooth. MIUI is based off CM7, so the performance should be similar.
Although MIUI is much more visually polished, it sometimes seems a bit gimmicky and a bit iph*ne ish. Both ROMs are great, I would say flash both and see, I still find myself jumping between these two ROMs quite often.
IMO, the iPhone-ish comment is misplaced. I thought the same thing at first. There are enough themes out there that you can make your MIUI look like sense. I have been running MIUI since June. I get some frustrating FC's from time to time but it has not been bad enough to make me change.

I don't find it to be sluggish either. Every once in a while, after reading people gush about CM7, I'll go back and give it a try, but IMO, MIUI is by far the better ROM. I experience no force closes and/or bugs, the ROM is very fast, the battery life is awesome, the theming is great and simple (love Phazed Orange), updates are regular and a no-brainer to apply, and I love the MIUI launcher. The only thing that the ROM lacks that I would like is the ability to use scrolling widgets.
When I had my incredible it was cm7 all day everyday... the rom is quick... customization need I say more than T-Mobile theme chooser pre installed.. there are themes on the market from team carbon that actually will theme essentially everything on your phone to one color.. for example I used the blood red and poison green themes. They theme the whole interface of the phone.. most thorough themes I have ever used by a longshot.. however u will eventually find what u like best.. the great thing about the incredible is there r tons of roms to choose from.. have fun!!

In my experience MIUI eats more battery life. Also I just feel that CM7 was more user friendly in my experience certain things were hard to find and took getting used to in MIUI in my opinion
Chiming in a little late, but I'm all about CM7 right now. Very fast and stable (from my experience).
For me, CM7 has great battery life, gives me the stock Android experience I want and generally offers a good balance of performance and features while remaining stable.
(Just my 2 cents).
Nothing against Miui, in fact I'll give it another shot down the road and see if it sticks.
MIUI uses cm7's kernels so you are getting the same battery life. As for miui being sluggish? That is just silly.
MIUI's built in theme manager lets you browse themes from the app itself and gives you the option to mix and match your themes to make them look just how you want.
I have used both and prefer CM. However I wanted to try some others so I started looking back at some of the Sense based ROMs. I have been running Nils Business GingerSense 3.5 for about a week and like the look of it, but so miss all the customizing I could do with CM. Always looking for something better though...
Cm7 for me. I am philosophically opposed to MIUI's taking from open source and releasing closed source. Even if it's legal I find it distasteful.

Been playing around with my OP2 for a while now, trying different roms and themes, but I've kinda grown tired of the stock android look; I love the customisation of it, but it doesn't feel all that exciting/different to look at any more, like Emotion UI or MIMU 8 is.
So what's your favourite pretty rom? Got any recommendations?
Well, if you're talking about looks only then MiUi would be one of the best looking roms.
And it works well with OP2.
I personally like the stock rom and if I ever feel like I need something new, I just install a launcher for a few days...
like action or themer.
