MiUi is by far the most customizable w/o question. But I've found it to be a bit of a battery hog.
Cyanogen(mod) with ADW/EX or Launcher Pro has high customization options as well, just not built in like MiUi.

Definetly MIUI. Many tweaks. Many customizations.

Yea i say miui also 12.23 for awesome battery performance. Then i think the next best rom for customization is absolution cm7 rom. Gps snd all works great.

Looking to switch back to Sense

I have been using CyanogenMod for a while now, but I want to give Sense another try. I have a couple quick questions.
- Are there any Sense ROMs that are a fairly decent balance of fast and stable? I can deal with the occasional force close if the ROM is significantly faster than another, but I'd say stability is more of a priority to me.
- I don't particularly like the Sense People and Calendar apps (I've found they're a bit slower than the AOSP apps). Can I just install the AOSP versions without major stability issues? If yes, would the Sense dialer still be able to pull from the AOSP Contacts app?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I omitted one thing. I'd say that stability is the most important aspect, followed by battery life. I know battery life is mostly determined by the kernel. Can anyone recommend a good Sense kernel as well?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I would try WarmZ 2.2 or Incredibly Re-Engineered both of those are sense 2.0 and are stable and fast. I liked both. But it's up to you!
Kernel wise, the kernels they come with worked great for me.
SkyRaider 3.5 w/Lou's #8 - slick....
4.0 is due out very soon.
Nils business z with ziggys latest bfs wo havs kernel is very stable with xcellent battery
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Z ROMs are nice, and quick, but there's been a spattering of reports on phantom calls and reboots. Hence, I would not say they are fully stable and dependable. There are also some quirks when using some apps (e.g. swype keyboard).
In my experience, you need to stick with 100% incredible framework if you value stability and reliability. I am a huge fan of both IncROM and Magnolia. They are both very fast in my book, and everything works out of the box, so to speak. When SR 4 hits in a few days it may be great as well.
To your question about contacts...
No, you cannot simply install AOSP versions onto a Sense ROM. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I've never had any issues with swype on z roms or had any random reboots or phantom calls (I'm not even sure exactly what that refers to). I've usually used the warm z nightlies. Guess it just depends on the phone/rom.

Okay, I have tried Incredibly Reengineered and IncROM. Are there any good ROMs that have more of a stock Sense look to them? I dont like all the transparency and custom colors and etc..

yeah, the issue I'm referring to is more of an annoyance. You know, how the Sense copy/paste functions cover up the Swype word choices when you double-click a word to correct it? It's the little things....Still, I am very torn between Z-ROMs and Inc ROMs because I do like many other things about the Z.

SkyRaider 3.5, and then 4.0 when it is released (you can look at image previews of 4.0 through ROM manager if you wish).

Oh ok, I never ran into that but I see what you mean. I think after we get the ota update things will be a lot smoother in regards to some of the z rom issues. Assuming we get an updated sense that is..

I use Swype. I also ask annoyed by that issue with the cut and paste option blocking the word choice/edit on MIUI. I assumed it was part of Gingerbread. Not so?
Edit- pls excuse my blunder. Of course Warm Z is not GB so that answers my question. Then again MIUI is AOSP and also has that.

My strong recommendation would be Magnolia. Options are superb.. battery is splendid... and the developer entertains personal requests.
Best stable and aesthetically pleasing rom for me.

Okay, I'll give Warm Z a shot. I'm using SkyRaider, and while I like the ROM, the battery life is very poor compared to what I was used to with CM7. I'm looking at under two hours of 3g browsing on a charge.
Tried both Chad's kernel as well as Lou's 8, and found similar results.

That's gotta be some kind of mistake. I've had the best battery life on Skyraider. I usually can get near 18 hours or more...

You mean you want a Rom with the stock aosp launcher. I recommend trying virtuous G-Lite. Read the instructions in the OP, for info on how to get the stock launcher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076786
G-Lite has the best battery life of any Rom I have ever tested.
And are you aware that you don't need to stick with the launcher that comes with a Rom? You can install which ever is your favourite and uninstall the one that comes included with the Rom.

Stock Rom for sense and virtuous G-Lite for asop
Once again I reccomend meXdroidMod PreGhostChilli. It is a very fast asop build that has waydownsouth's tweaKr script built into it. So as long as you use the included kernel you can set profiles for your processor via tweaKr script that react MUCH faster than any app (like setCPU). You can also undervolt your processor, tweak your i/o, and install the smart cpu script; all of those things will do wonders for battery life. I can squeeze an entire day of HEAVY usage out of my phone, and nearly two days of moderate to light usage (and I have an almost bad battery), just be sure and take the time to properly calibrate your battery after flashing the rom.

Okay, so suppose I wanted a rom exactly like this one any ideas because I live gingerbread yet I'm not a fan of sense

AOSP: Virtuous G-Lite hands down, it's a 2.3.3 version that is very stable. Comes with LauncherPRO and is as stock as you can be. No lag anywhere and can be overclocked as well with the included kernel, though, now i think RMK and team included a script that automatically overclocks up to 1.2GHz for you by default. About 1 day of heavy use on a charge, just less than 2 days of light use on a charge.
Other: MIUI Official English, it's a 2.3.4 version that is incredibly stable with the CRT screen off animation. Alittle weird to use at first, but it's really easy to pick up on. Overclockable to 1.5GHz using CPUTuner or SetCPU. Lasts about 3 days of light use on a charge. About 1.5 days of heavy use on a charge.
You should try Virtours G-lite, best of any ROM I have used. 1 thing is more Free RAM to play ^^

What sense Rom do you like best?

I was just curious as to what everyone else thinks about the sense 3.0 and 2.1+3.0 roms. Which do you think are the best? I'm currently using kinged kingdom 2.1 odexed and it has been the smoothest running so far. All the other roms have felt laggy or sluggish at times. I'd like to find one to use as a daily. Any recommendations?

I've been using synergy for the past couple months. Haven't found a reason to switch yet.
Never tried 2.1-3.0 hybrids but I have shooter 3.0 and have very little issues......and waiting for all the bugs to be worked out of bliss 3.5 so I can try that...

Mikg is my favourite, and ive tried just about all of em. Super stable and very fast.
I was using synergy for a little bit but I can't remember why I switched. I think it had something to do with the camera wouldn't work if you used a different kernel. I might have to give it another shot since I've heard a lot of good about it.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've used Synergy and MikG a lot. They are pretty much the same except Synergy has the updater, and an effin ton of themes + mods, but I feel like it's a little bit slower than Mik. Also Mik sees more updates.
Synergy is great so far! Love the stock gb with the settings shortcut in the notification menu. Custom synergy update is great too. Although I haven't seen any updates yet. Everything else seems fine. Used Sinister for a while. I Sinister is fast and while the 3d home screen integration is nice, I think it used a little too much memory. I got the white htc screen too much. I get it almost after every game I play
Sent from my Evo running Synergy Rom!
I started with Synergy RLS1 and then decided to try MikG. I think MikG is better but that is a personal choice. I just feels faster to me... that might be due to the fact that it is odexed and Synergy is deodexed. Since I am not into themes, etc I do not need a deodex ROM.
r3chargeD final from EVOlvedROM. Needs some easy tweaks based on build # (still consider myself is a newbie) but plenty of support.
Currently using bliss getting better every update

Using [R2R]_[Rom][Sence 3.0 GB 2.3.5]Going_Green_Lightning_Fast-R.3.Zip and so far it has been great. Very fast. Only issues is that HD recording on my EVO has caused FC. Others have had this happen on this ROM as well. The dev is very responsive, so I assume a fix will come soon.
I have been on mik g for a while and never had a problem, I may go with synergy just because id like to update without doing a full wipe every couple of weeks

I switched over from synergy to EVOlvedrom. It's runs great with great battery life. No lags or problems. It has some small glitches but nothing that messes with the functionality of the phone.

S.O.S N and X are what you want for sure. We've talked alot in OD's forum I have since switched to swags roms. N is a senseless sense rom, its currently what I use, the sense apks were replaced by go launcher/dialer/lockscreen ect. Its very cool and fast. If you want sense only X is the way to go. Very very fast built with sense 4.0 elements really good stuff. Both of these are D.D candidates. You'll have a much better experience with almost no problems. Currently Swag is updating all the SOS roms for theme and more speed. Drop your swap partition before flashing any of swags roms you will never need it. I'll post screen shots of N for you to look at.

You can have any lock screen you want there's dozens of them. There's a really cool sense screen you can can icons on the lockscreen, just like the express. Mine is called ics HD by go locker its about the best one, you have 4 lockscreen icons you can set. It was to hard to get a screen shot of the icons while dragging the ring to show them. Dude I love the express alot, but since I've been on swag I've had a way better phone functionality and way more control over the phone with better results. I also am using underworld 2 and I'm getting amazing results on SOS. I'll always be a od fan but my evo belongs to swag town now.

I recommend partitioning your SD card to Ext3, flashing Darktremors apps2sd, and running Car-o-dope's tweaks, and you'll have yourself a freaking bad**s phone!

Though for gingerbread, I'd say elitemod CM7 or g2slim.

I know that I've asked this before but does these ROMs set the phone's CPU to a default speed? Or do you do that yourself by using something like the SetCPU app?

MIUI doesn't have a built in feature to set CPU speeds. But most other CM based roms does have such option built in. Look for something like Performance->CPU in settings. There you can set a CPU governor too

G-light hands down its fast stable gives you the option of choosing kernels before flashing (conservative HTC kernel or full featured kernel capable of 1.4ghz Oc) . As for issues their ain't none I've been using g-light since it came to play . The screen issue must of been a bad flash
