Idk what videos you're talking about because thee only way to root on ei22 is with odin... I suppose you could use mobile odin app (on the market) and that wouldn't take a computer... so I stand corrected you probably can do it without a pc... get mobile odin and follow the same directions posted in the general sticky on how to root ei22...

I have never used mobile odin but if you need help I'm sure I can help you figure it out..
Eidt- just looked at the app, looks like you have to be rooted first... back to using a pc... just find a buddy with a pc and do it that way... its your only option...

I should have just bought the damn htc droid incredible and root with z4root... I love htc is my favorite phones to have because of sense... or I culd have used visionary+ or unrevoked all so very simple with the htc... Unrevoked you would also need a pc for... I mean you unlocked it which you need a pc for... so use that same pc...

Find a buddy with a pc. Then as long as you have the right drivers, a good usb cable, and a working phone rooting takes less then 5 minutes to do (maybe a tiny bit more if you odin back to EC05 first) but after that it's a breeze. If your buddy with a pc doesn't want the anything you have to downloaded then after your done simply delete everything you've done on the pc.

Z4root hasnt worked for phones past Eclair and technically isnt rooting since it doesnt install clockworkmod. Also, our phone is not supported by Mobile Odin. Just find a pc to do it on and youll be done in 10 minutes.

I don't believe there is any topic like this for the G2. Just wondering if there is any psfreedom app for the vision yet. I know it just got rooted like two days ago, but just wondering if there is a psfreedom out for another android phone that works with the G2

imo the best way to do the psfreedom is in recovery. that way you dont have wifi issues and other little things ive heard about. i kow there are recoveries based on amon_ra's recovery for the g1 that have this included. im sure someone can do it to cwm or base off of amon_ra's for us.
Well I checked the site and the G2 ain't on it so was wondering if there is anyway.. and to the $28 I know they sell em but id rather just have it on my phone so I can take it easier. Since I take my phone everywhere I wouldn't have to worry about leavin it behind =p.

You only need to plug in the phone/usb dongle to boot up the system. Once it has started up, you can unplug. Yes, I have tried it. I've been doing this since the port came over to the G1 a good while ago. I would like to know where you heard this from.
I'm also waiting for a psfreedom on G2!! I dropped my G1 one too many times and it's finally dead... /tear, good times w/ the G1
i broke my G1 sometime back , i been waiting on Psfreedom on G2 since then , i havent turned off my ps3 , because i couldnt get it back into dev mode .
but now theres hope...
You only need to connect it at the startup of the PS3. Once it's started you can disconnect it.

I used unrevoke 3 to root my evo and it seemed to work, however...

When I run wireless tether it starts and seems to work, but I don't see it as an option in my wifi on my laptop. I'm thinking my phone's wifi should be on, but it isn't and it won't start while running the program so maybe that's the problem?
edit: I found the correct version to download, now it is working=)

I used unrevoked 3. Goto unrevoke dot com and select your phone and follow the directions. It does say it won't work with phones after 11/16 or something which I don't understand since the software should be the same unless they hardwired something to prevent it. I wasn't able to do it till this newer version of unrevoked came out.
Before retards ruin your phones with unrevokoked you need to check which bootloader your phone shipped with. If it has hboot 2.02 you cannot use unrevokoked. You need to follow the guide "hboot s-off fresh like pinecones" to achieve root.

I'm only a retard so I couldn't say for sure. I just followed the directions on unrevoked and it worked like a charm. I really just wanted to get WiFi tether to work and it does now. I would think there would be lots of people posting that their phones got bricked by unrevoked3 if that were the case, but again I'm only a retard hehe.
I have tried unrevoked like 5 times now and it keeps getting stuck , and I tried the s off 2.02 and it will not let me flash recovery it changed the Rom and put it back to 2.1 but that's it , nothing I have tried works this is the first time I have ever seen one do this

it is not the easiest way.. but it will teach you want you are doing at each step and why.
uses unrevoked and amon_ra
these are solid.. and will be great for future mods.
Unrevoke is the easy way off rooting, but make sure to have hboot drivers install( windows only) before rooting
sent from my evil evo!!
No worries
I use Unrevoked all the time and it works flawlessly on Hardware 2 through 4 phones. Just make sure you download the latest version at:
http://unrevoked.com/#evo
Other methods as mentioned above work too but can be somewhat complicated. In the end, they all use Unrevoked to achieve S-OFF.
Add one more vote for Unrevoked.

the all in one root method. search the dev section for it. very easy & simple.
Ha... I'm familiar with Adb, have Android SDK setup on ubuntu and windows, but the sheer amount of info here for the Evo, its overwhelming, a lot of defunct procedures and conflicting info, I just didn't want to start down the wrong path. I'm seriously considering getting the Thunderbolt, I'm in the 30 day trial with Sprint and although I like the Evo with all the development here, the Thunderbolt is looking
awfully appealing... Cheers to everyone for your assistance...

There is a proven root method already available and its "stickied" right at the top of the forum. Only use Unrevoked if you plan to give your girlfriend a rather expensive paperweight.

Well they might not be laughing too long with Google's purchase of Moto. Never know where I'll spend MY money next. They ain't the only game in town. I just posted that on FB
Unbelievable. What is wrong with HTC? I can't believe they'd want to alienate users of one of their recent phones like this.
I saw this on their site
"HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices."
Which means if Sprint says NO, I guess HTC's hands are tied.

Then talked to HTC about said exploit,Wondering with a hint of conspiracy if that hole exists in our kernel and they are working to close it?
