I did the reset exactly as written but I'm stuck with only 1gb of internal memory. How do I fix that? I've tried searching on here but to no avail. The NC I'm working on is a refurbished unit Model: BNRV200
How do I tell if this unit is a new model or old model Nook Color? The refurbished box does not have a blue dot on it.
I know what you mean. I had Tue same problem after I had to replace my original nook after The battery failed. I changed it back to 5gb user space following instruction online. I'll find the link later and post it here for you.

Greetings! I have a Nook Color v1.4.3 and I have tried to boot it on Sandisk class4 16GB MicroSD. I tried a bunch of different bootable images as well as writing the image with Winimage and Win32diskimager. I spent most of the day yesterday trying to get it to boot and it continues to boot up on the internal image rather than the MicroSD. Are there versions of the Nook Color that has the MicroSD card slot boot feature disabled? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Need more information
What are the specific steps you went through to write the images? Which images are you using? It's a Color and not a Tablet (dark grey vs light grey bezel common mix-up)?

The bezel is dark grey. I have tried writing several boot images to my SDCard using WinImage and Win32diskimager. The images I have tried are CWM-6.0.1.2-bootable_SD, TWRP-2.1.8-bootable-SD-encore, generic-sdcard-v1.3-CM7-9-10-larger-Rev5, generic-sdcard-v1.3-CM7-9-10-10.1-larger-Rev6 and generic-sdcard-v1.3-CM7-9-10-10.1-10.2-larger-Rev7. The model number is BNTV250.
Having tried to make those SDs boot you have obviously been to my Tips thread. Did you try some of the techniques in my section A9 there? Like using an external card reader, etc? And the colors of the bezel are black for Nook Color and silver for Nook Tablet. None of those images will boot on a Nook Tablet.
And there a no versions of the Nook Color where SD booting has been disabled.

Thank you all so very much for your help. I did have much success once I was pointed in the right direction. It turned out I did in fact have the tablet and not the color and was able to install the lastest CM.
Hello
My nook color get totally dead when i was installing MROM-Encore [4.2.2][LINARO][CM10.1] build:20131003 two months ago.
Non of any cmw sd img working on that. But i found u-boot from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511854, which i repaced in CWM-6.0.1.2-bootable_SD.
Now my nook is booting up but giving this error.
I've tried wipe data/factory reset but giving following error.
when trired to repair emmc using NookColor-emmc-format-partitions-5-6-7-8.zip,
NookColor-emmc-repair-partitions-1-4-5-6-7-8.zip
NookColor-emmc-repair-partition-2.zip then following errors,
Kindly anybody help me to solve this problem.
That looks like a Nook Tablet... not a Nook Color (the bezel looks too light... but might be the lighting).
my color is light gray also... so the frame color isn't as important as model no.

well, your partitions are definitely borked. My partition repartition zips assume your basic partition table header is valid. I suspect yours is not. If you search for how to use fdisk you might be able to fix it yourself. There are a few old threads where I was helping users to do that.

No, that's why I said I am at a loss. No idea how to fix. You might be able to find a cheap replacement on eBay.

is there any way to install rom in sd card. Because nook color is booting from sd card.
Not really. The existing SD method still uses a few partitions on emmc, like /cache and /ROM. It is possible to create a version that is stand alone, but it is very difficult.

[Q] My Nook color keeps booting to the B&N "n" screen and I've tried it all!!
Hi all,
I've been trying to flash my nook color which had been updated to 1.4.3. I wiped it and also powered it down 8 times until it restored to factory settings.
I bought a new Sandisk class 4 8gb microsd card and I'm using an external Targus USB card writer.
I then run Win32DiskImager as administrator and write Verygreen's size-agnostic SD image to my SD card. I eject my card writer temporarily and then reinsert it. Then I copy cm-10.1.3-RC2-encore.zip & gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip on to my SD card.
Finally I insert the SD card into my nook color and turn it off but it starts with the B&N "n" screen. I have tried different clockworkmods and TWRP mods as well as auto-nooter-2.12.25.img and manualnooter-5.08.20.basic but my nook keeps loading to the B&N "n" screen.
I'm really frustrated and don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Do I have the only Nook color that can't be flashed? Please help!!!

He had you look at the model number to see if you really have a Nook Color. You don't. You have a Nook Tablet. It is a common error. Nook Color files will not work on a Nook Tablet. You must go to the Nook Tablet forum to get the files and instructions.

Hi. I'm trying to fix a nephew's bricked Nook Color.
1. The device shows no obvious signs of damage.
2. I don't know what my nephew was last doing with the device before it bricked.
3. I have rooted phones and tablets of various manufacturers since Froyo. Not a nube.
4. I have used SDFormatter & Win32DiskImager to prep various sized and classed SD cards, but the Nook never reads from the Card.
5. The device will successfully factory reset, but that doesn't fix the boot issue.
6. LeapinLar seems to have the best tutorials. I just need to find a way in to restore what I believe to be a corrupted factory ROM. I'm hoping there is not an actual SD Card hardware issue.
7. Here are just some of the tutorials I have followed with no success:
[UNBRICK] Your Bricked Nook Tablet 8/16 GB Step by Step on Windows Vista/7
Auto-Nooter 2.12.25 (1.0.1 Only)
[Ref] Nook Color Links |Guides|How To|Utilities| Etc. 12/26 Read FIRST =)
[GUIDE] Nook Color Installation Guide for CM7/CM9/CM10/CM10.1/CM10.2/CM11 on SD

[USER][TIPS]Nook Color User Tips for CM7/CM9/CM10/CM10.1 From LeapinLar
[UNBRICK] Restore the Internal Partitions of your NT [SUPPORT][VIDEOS][8/16GB NT]
Ideas?
Well, the first thing to determine is whether you really have a nook color. It might be a nook tablet. If it is a tablet the color SDs will not boot. You can tell by the color of the bezel. The nook color has a black bezel and the nook tablet has a silver bezel. You can also look for the model number on the back.

Mud in my face
Well, I can't believe I missed that. I have a nook.
I'm sorry for wasting the post. I will start by trying a Nook Rom instead of Color Rom. It's a bit embarrassing how much time I spent in the Nook Color forums and missed that little obvious piece.
Thanks again for you help and quick response!:good:
Hello XDA Devs,
My sister recently got a Nook Color tablet for my nephew. It's model number: BNRV200. I was trying to find some custom roms to load onto it but everything that I've found so far instructs me to use a SD card to load the custom roms. One major problem, I do not see any SD card slots on this model of Nook Color. Help please!
Thanks in advance!
I don’t recognize the particular model number. But, on my 1st Generation Nook Color there’s a very small microSD card slot on the back, in one of the corners.
There’s a little cover that flips out of the way for you to insert the microSD card.
Hope that helps! FWIW, i think the device supported up to 32gb maximum.
