You really want to be rooted before you update to ICS. who knows how long you'll have to wait for the devs to find an exploit again.

Im new to rooting and everything infact the first time i did i was already at .21and went back to .19 to use razorclaw and cwm. I tried to use ota keeper to update again to .21 but it never gave me the option so i figured i needed to unroot first. I like revolver a lot but have heard some good things about ICS.

It was the same Singapore Facebook wall that has now said it will be end of month.
So i greatly doubt anyone will get it tomorrow, but i hope i am wrong

Has to be approved by Google, my ass. They're delaying it to push people towards the Prime, pure and simple. 99% of the build will be identical between both devices, with only relatively minor driver changes and the like.

I don't think they are waiting for Google, I think they have delayed it due to the number of people with TF201s that are boot-looping and getting random shut downs since the update.
Hopefully as soon as they get that resolved and are sure it wont happen to TF101 users, they will release it.

Glad I didn't see the announcement, I can wait another few weeks

Well they DID just announce that ICS devices need to include the holo theme in order to be allowed on the Android Market, maybe that's the "certification" they need.

f... you asus

went back to stock ROM, factory reset, rooted and OTA root keeper backed up..all dressed up and no where to go.
I got myself all worked up over nothing..some guy in singapore is the ire of the world's android fanbois..

i'd imagine by then we'll already have the official froyo ota update. Shouldn't be too long now.

I am chomping at the bit because I have no way to get FRF50 without rooting and I am unable swallow the pill of loosing my warranty on such a big purchase without recourse.

Froyo will be dropped OTA in the next few days.
Guaranteed.

The release date is June 21. In an hour where I am, it'll be the 18th already. We should be expecting the OTA anytime with this news.
Unless of course the "Froyo'd" up meant = FRF50.

Yeah, I'm on AT&T and just didn't want to root since I just got my phone. I'm hoping it will come out OTA soon...
I wish they'd get on with it just so the board isn't cluttered with any more squinnying about why it's not out yet
I would need to root my phone because I have the North American 3G varient (EPE54B) that the FRF50 Test Build was not direclty written for.

I can't wait to start whining about my hoped for feature/bug fix not making it.
Seriously though, I'm super eager for an official Froyo as I'm convinced the FRF50 update caused serious issues with using mobile data (constant errors and slow speed when using data and not on wifi).
No OTA for people on Cyanogen though /:
But he'll put a ROM out in no time once its out.

That is actually precisely what they mean, and is why they only have 4k for launch. They're running the pre-release Froyo on them.
I wouldn't expect to see Froyo for another couple weeks people. Don't hold your breath.
Engadget says 4,000 units will be available for sale in South Korea on June 21st.
I'd expect OTA sometime around that week.
It's froyo'd up.

I'm going to agree. We'll just hear the same damn thing we've been hearing... an update is coming "Soon". That's all it ever is. T-Mobile told me via Twitter yesterday that they are working on it and want to make it "perfect"...
Man! I hope they are working on something better then "soon".
The dev, community here has fixed all my problems for me except the modem... if you are comfortable flashing roms and mods, it takes the wait and insessant delays edge off. They are so sloooow,... with there flagship device? Come on.

But all this delay I'm starting to think we might get surprised with a 2.2 update sooner than thought
But then again this is my first Samsung phone and all the talk about their history....IDK

I am having so much fun modifying my rooted phone and 2.1 that I don't even notice how long it's taking to get any OTAs or 2.2 for that matter.
I think having owned a G1 taught me a lot of patience. The Vibrant is a great phone, yes it may have it's bugs but it certainly can be an everyday smartphone even without the updates.
Take your time Samsung/T-mobile, as long as we have devs and hackers that work hard to help out the community I will be patient.

You people aren't going to be happy if they release it and its not ready. I would wait as long as it takes to get it and have no issues or less of them. You know if they release it before its good to go and you have some issues you will come back and complain. I would love to have it now just like everyone.

You guys should have gotten the ipad 2, then.
BTW, this just in, the release next week has been delayed.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/241380/ice_cream_sandwich_launch_delayed.html
People's reaction to ICS has opened up my mind about apple users versus google users. I've been asking every iphone and ipad user I see (work, train, train station, shop, wherever) whether they are excited about the iOS 5 release. I've been asking for a week now. Dozens of people. Not a single one said yes. Every one of them said they're fine with the current version.
On the other hand, android (honeycomb users) are threatening to ditch android if they don't get the ICS NOW. In fact, even before honeycomb was released I already saw people wanting ICS.
This tells me we're not such a good bunch of gadget users after all.
Screw you guys. I'm gonna make my way to the apple world to avoid bitter people who are demanding to have the latest and greatest just a couple months after the last latest and greatest update.

But when its from a completely different region and on facebook id say its legitimacy does not hold water. Now if it was an official announcement then its a little more of a taboo.
My question is why would anyone wipe their device when it was still a day away from the rumored release date... And then complain about the release not happening.
I love our first world problems... Cause there aren't millions of people who are literally starving to death this very evening... I think I can bare to wait a few more weeks for ics

I don't think you are using that word right...taboo means 'something to be avoided'..
And I didn't think just anyone had access to the Asus facebook page, a post on the Asus FB page IS pretty official in my book..what else would make for 'official'? That is where they told us that the Prime ICS update was coming 2 days early (and it did). I don't get everyone impugning those who BELIEVED a statement on Asus Singapore (BTW, they are closer to the Asus Headquarters than Asus USA, so presumably they would have better insider-info than anyone on the USA FB page IMO).
Asus made the statement, were we supposed to be complete cynics and just go 'That is BS, no it won't"?? They said it was coming out, and then said it wasn't. I don't think it is immature to have believed them. Now, getting upset after the fact, to the point of actual anger, that may be immature and a first-world problem, but it's not like it was a rumor started by an xda user who 'knew a guy who knew a guy', it came straight from someone who worked for Asus.
Pointless *****ing wont bring the update either.
The smartest thing to do was to stick with what you have until the update is already rolling out before wiping and stuff.
We'll get what was promised either way, or you can sell your Transformer and get a Xoom

What crawled inside your butthole? There is no need to be so rude...it wasn't a post from a fan, an official post- honestly now, how many people have access to the Asus FB page? Just any joe-blow that works for Asus can leave messages on their behalf?
Come now, I don't know exactly who the rep was, but I can guarantee he wasn't just an intern and has some rank and seniority at Asus. In other words- what would YOU consider an official announcement? The have to show up at your house with balloons and champagne???
And no, I'm not venting, I'm being reasonable. Venting would require I be upset about something...which I am not..I am not the OP, I just defended the OP's WTF reaction to an official announcement and then retraction of it. It was pretty WTF...
it's a sad sad world if FB is now the official announcement system. It's just too easy for some idiot with access to the FB account to post something he thought he heard over a cube wall.

To be more than fair and mostly correct if you've been around the TF 101 forums for a while and read everything they Asus and their sites say ...you will learn it all needs to be taken with a BIG grain of salt...and you will also learn ...or not..Patience is a Virtue...it may it might it will mostly happen ...sooner or later with varing amounts of success.....as with all things they say but they are a business...a corporation with share holders and such...hype is king...makes the sales up....stock stay up...the dividens pay off...such is life ....these days
I can't quite believe this thread exists. Frankly, if you wiped the device before you knew the update was out, that in itself was plain silly. Even if the rumour was true, surely wait until you know you get get hold of the update before wiping the device?
Common sense man!

KitKat Tracking

I've been finding a bunch of posts regarding when the Razr HD will be getting KitKat. We have been waiting a while, so I figured I'd make a tracking thread so everyone can know when KitKat is finally released.
The last piece of information we have really gotten came from David Schuster, senior director at Motorola Mobility in Illinois.
This post alone sparked a great many Android articles... Needlessly so, IMO
One G+ post fed:
Android Central
Into Mobile
Softpedia
Phone Arena
DroidLife
Seems I'm not the only one starving for some news.
me too I'd like to know when we'll receive kitkat...a question, i'm from Italy but i purchased my razr hd in Uk.
My version is 98.21.22003.xt925.CEE-Retail.en.EU..Will I receive the upgrade as well or the release is only for Verizon users?
David Schuster did say a couple of days ago that the "M and HD are in Verizon labs currently". And that "Labs" can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
It's in the same Google+ post linked in the OP. It's toward the bottom of the comments.

It still isn't clear weather a completed version is in their labs for testing and approval OR Moto's version was submitted to them for them to add bloat, test, fix, test, add more bloat, test, etc. I think once Verizon puts out a soak with their junk on it, then we may be getting truly close.
* This is only my interpretation on how this process is working and may be wrong.

Typically "labs" is the end of the line, unless there's a problem with the Software / Hardware on Verizon's Network.
Definitely coming this month.

MAYBE this is NOT related, but Motorola have scheduled an event on 13th may, the update may be announced then...
It's just a guess.

Sounds more hardware than software related. I doubt they'd hold an event (or waste time at one) to announce a software update for phones released back in '12. They didn't for the newer, more relevant phones, and with no other company calling an event to announce "we've released KK for you on XYZ phone" it would come off as very pompous.
...am curious to see what their next model phone is though...
So possibly the firmware will be released before the new phone comes out?

Everything is speculative with no real concrete evidence to back anything up. We know that it's likely to come out this month, but even that is not 100% certain.

I was thinking that they could announce the update with their new phone. With a big MAYBE. :fingers-crossed:
