Hey Guys,
I just managed to change the Splashscreen of my Moto Defy.
I'm quiete Happy, having the knowledge to do this, thanks XDA
But there is one question in my Mind...
Why do we have to use 480*182 as resolution, i simply don't understand oO
Would be great if someone could explain it to me
Greetz Esok

Becoz of the size of screen i think

I've done a lot of google researches about this topic, but none really helped.
Our Screen is kinda bigger then 120x480, so i wonder if it would be osiible to have a fullsceen splascreen. But at at this moment i'm too worried about my defy to test xD
Change the Splashscreen on the Defy, seems to be a really uncommon thing, cause there are not a lot of sources about it oO
thanks for your response

Well, i think the answer for this is: a factory limitation for use the whole screeen for splash.
I tried to change the original logo with one home made 480x854, but only is visible the 480x182 area begining for the top&left corner of the image.
I found method with a tool called nbimg for the same purpose on HTC Phones but i have a little affraid to broke my dear Defy.
í will try and lets known if you try someone else.
(sorry if my english is bad.)

Jtag interface is what I've been expecting, no sneak peak needed, we know what root will yield, so, lock this thread

We used the smart card & s58 file to disable the chip, not the Jtag interface.
Why would you post this in one thread:

I haven't read every post lately, but with my daily glancing, I have heard no mention of advancements or failures on the Jtag side. I know we had at lease one Dev with a torn down Jtaged interfaced G2

Although I agree the bootup animation is from older versions of Android, It's clearly 2.x+ as shown at 1:20 by the lwp, phone app instead of dialer, and a few other apps in the drawer.

Quick Question: Update to 2.2+ and keep current/official theme?

I know this might seem noobish.....Is there a way to keep the xperia x8 original theme but update it to 2.2 or + ?
No

i deal a lot with tech support for various electronics. believe me... ppl who know nothing or very little ALWAYS think everything's easy
Lol But I know a mate that knows alot and still says everythings easy
Yes, it is easy, but every dev wants his android to look the way he wants it. If you want, you can make your own custom theme for the ROM you're using Just go to the theming part of the XDA board (the general one, not the X8 specific )
Could anyone at least tell if it's possible to copy files (and which ones) to copy the theme from 2.1 stock version of android for Xperia X8. If it's impossible, then… well, will have to stick with what we have.

[Q]Change HD2 Screen & LCD

Hi guys,
Unfortunately my HD2 fell and the screen cracked. So, i searched ebay found me a LCD and digitizer but im not sure how to change both of them. I googled a little bit found some tutorials but i don't really trust them so can anyone post a tutorial that worked for them previously? My HD2 is nearly not able to be used because of the shattered glass I was actually considering getting a new phone

Look here:
http://mperlitsch.hintergrundbild.com/htc_hd2.htm#Zerlegeanleitung
This Tutorial is working 100%. But you need a little experience to take apart electronic devices. ESD-Protection and of course a new Touchscreen or a complete Touch/LCD Combo ( cost more, but makes it a lot easier for u ). The Problem, this is all in German and you US-HD2 is a little Different, but i´ll make next time a Video, so everyone can see with moving pictures how easy all the steps are.
Maybe the tutorial above is better than nothing for you and don´t sell your fantastic HD2. It´s the Best Phone i ever had...

Michael

Tablet UI for ICS

So guys,I've seen this a lot on other phones(Galaxy S,S2 and Nexus,Nexus S etc) and wanted to see it on the Desire hD.I found a guide in the Nexus S forums, but it was in Chinese, but:
a)I don't understand a word in Chinese
b)Google translate ****ed up big time with that page(Guide was like reading bad Manga script )
So,if anyone has the knowledge, time and will to make it,it'd be welcome. If not,but there is a guide I can actually follow to do it myself and then share it here,it's cool too.
Well, just in case someone wants to give this a shot, the guide is here.
what about fix call fc on desire hd? How fix it?
I saw the images of this on the ice cold sandwich thread, surely it'd be too small to use properly? I have my dhd set at 190dpi, and it seemed too small at 160 so 120 must be impossible to read! Lol

Impossible?Hell no.I've been using the tablet UI on my Galaxy S2 yesterday and it's ok,only some things are very small and hard to press. If you just set your font to huge in settings, text is more than readable.
But wait, did you say someone has done it in the IceColdSandwich thread?I couldn't search because the search thread function was/is broken these days and universal advanced search returned all sorts of irrelevant stuff.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I wanted to give it a try cause it looks cool but currently the phone goes FC so until some dev fixes the issue the whole thing is unusable to DHD owners. BTW. 160 dpi isn't that bad, some time ago I set my CM7 to 120 an it was a little glitchy but very nice to look at.
I think someone just posted about the tablet ui on that thread, but lord was interested so he may be going to implement it into the rom eventually.

160 dpi is perfectly usable on our screens,I can tell you first hand about that(Don't look at my signature,it's too outdated.I'm running latest IceColdSandwich-4.2 atm- with dpi set to 160 and it's way cool.
I don't know what's FCing on the DHD,but on the GS2 it was running really great and stable.Plus,it makes for a nice tabletoid.

Mmm...I'll search myself now that search is back.
Sorry for posting a new thread about something that was already available, but I suppose most of you understand that the lack of the search function coupled with my absence from the DHD forums made it almost impossible for me to find anything.

Yep,it does.
Now,if only someone could make it so that it works with higher dpi than 120,it would be perfectly usable for everyday usage.

[Q] Usable CM9 for Defy (green)?

Hello,
I've been using CM7 and now CM9-NIGHTLY-120711-Defy ROM, but, frankly, the phone is next to useless. The system/ROM on my phone is slow, unresponsive, buggy. So before I make crazy moves (like buying an old iphone) I would like to ask you for advice.
Is there any Android 4+ ROM for Defy that just works fine? No slowdowns, usable HWA, responsive... I really hate Motorola for not unlocking bootloaders (and won't buy any Moto ever).
I will very much appreciate your help. I cannot switch phone now (actually I've got two phones, one is Defy green lens the other Defy red lens).

That is exactly what I use (as I stated) and it's terrible (I know other ppl experiences can vary) - not to say that I don't respect the monumental amount of work the developers put into this project.
I did erase all data and clear the cache before flashing BTW.
Any clues?

The only thing that doesn't work in the latest release of CM9 is wifi tether.
