Does anyone know of a way to turn off/hide the WiFi signal strength and battery icons?
I ask because I recently installed "Cool Tool" (I like it much better for displaying system performance information, including WiFi signal strength and battery) so I'd like to gain a little more space for it in the status bar by turning off/hiding those icons.
Settings -> ADW Settings -> Screen Preferences, check the "Hide Status Bar"
That hides the entire status bar. I just want to hide the WiFi and battery icons only.
Edit: Actually, for CM7, that setting doesn't seem to do anything at all.
Settings>Cyanogen Mod Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget
The first option "Notification Power Widget" will turn off the buttons altogether or you can click "Widget buttons" to pick and choose which ones you want.
For status bar settings go to Cyanogen Mod Settings>Tablet Tweaks
These are some of the best features of Cyanogen Mod in my opinion!

Well that only configures the buttons for the notification panel, not the status bar. I'm looking for a way to turn off/hide the WiFi signal strength icon and the battery level icon on the status bar.

Yes I agree, but under that settings panel I don't see any options to hide/show the WiFi signal strength and batter level icons.
You need to edit the SystemUI.apk file in /system/app/. I was trying to do it too, but didn't find any more information.

Is there any way to put shortcut to Settings-System-Power to your program page? I keep changing backlight, and every time I have to go through a bunch of clicks.
Thanks
if you tap on the top status bar then click on the battery icon.. it will take you to the battery status and the next tab there is the backlight one... close enough for you?

The problem is that some applications (like IGO) remove that top status bar. Also, it is not available while charging (like in a car cradle).
Hi, I finally got around to dumping wm6.5 and installing android CM7_HoneyComB_V57 on my HD2; Its BRILLIANT should have done it ages ago! The only thing I have found is the power settings on the notification bar don’t have a data toggle. I’ve solved my problem for now by using a 'power bar' widget but id like to know if there is a way to get a data button on the original power settings OR if not is there a way to just remove that power bar totally. It seems daft to have both.

In CM7 you can customise what toggles show up, the order, and more. In the settings application, click on the CM tab the navigate to statusbar tweaks and look for power menu toggles there are a whole bunch of options to customize to your liking.
nice work mate

Hi!
I had taboonay rom before I switched to the new flexreaper, and I used the toggles that appeared above the notification bar for wifi, brightness, sound, rotation etc, just by tapping on the notfication bar (not a widget). How can I have this feature enabled in flexreaper rom? Is it an extra apk or something, or I can use it only in taboonay rom?
Thanx a lot in advance:good:
I think if you tap on the notification bar then the settings icon(top right of that pop up) you will get the toggles you are looking for..

Thanx, but the other has 8 icon and they are like buttons... so it is easier to use than entering settings
I'm running jelly bean and found this app to replace some of the add ons I missed for notificaiton toggles. IT rocks because the power button option has 'recovery' and bootloder options.
You can also make any app a toggle.

i just installed quick settings.its great but one thing is missing.the "3G"toggle to turn it on or off.is it possible to set it?
is there another application like "quick settings" that includes "3g" toogle ?
anyone?
you can have notification toggles in your notification bar or you can have a widget on your homescreen that acts like a button. If you really want a toggle in your quick settings then you can find various roms that will have that feature as well as let you add other toggles and even change the order along with other things.
i cant find the option for battery percentage......and why isnt there a sound/silent/vibrate toggle ?

In the status bar? There isn't one, unless you're on a custom rom. you can see it in quick settings by pulling down the status bar (aka notification tray) with two fingers at the same time. For the sound/silent/vibrate, hold the power button until a menu pops up. The 3 options on the bottom under airplane mode are the sound/vibrate/silent with no vibrate toggles.
Use 'Power Toggle' app
