No. Use clockwork mod in recovery to flash it, select from sd card. BUT before flashing the rom, clear all stats and caches. Using rom manager can be unstable some time.

Hi sir.. Good day !, will I install first clockworkmod (if yes, please provide me a link how to do it ) or i'll just use the one who came when I root & s-off with revolutionary ? kindly teach me how also to clear all stats and caches.
by the way, thank you for your help and sorry for being noob

Use the P49IMG.zip method. I'm not sure where but this is the method I used.
Edit: It's here at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12782368&postcount=2
Click on the P49IMG.zip for Clockworkmod 5.0.2.0 , put it on the root of your SD card (in no folders, just on the top of your SD card). Then boot into HBOOT and it will ask to install. Puts the volume up key to select yes. Reboot.

If I am not mistaken it is: Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Download that one. Once done, Reboot into Recovery.
As said above, first Wipe Phone, Dalvik, and Cache. Then flash CM7.

That isn't permanent though, you have to use the permanent P49IMG.zip method to fix the offmode charging bug. Otherwise that method only works for one time. Then it goes back to the old recovery.

The one that came with revolutionary should work fine to begin with, power off the phone and press volume down + power button, then select recovery from the hboot menu, after recovery starts select backup then wipe data and wipe cache, then find wipe dalvik cache and do that too.
Next choose install from zip and choose your cm7 zip or whichever Rom your flashing let it run and reboot.

Doesn't that have the offmode charging bug? Mine did.

Possibly ive never used it I jumped from 3 to 5 but it should still work just fine for flashing a Rom.

ohh ! let me try that on sir, will i un install first rom manager and titanium back up before proceeding because i recently installed it ? and one more thing, will i select the one "install update from sd card" because there is no option -> "flash rom from sd card" and again, i tried to flash using rom manager but failed, will this incur problem when i flash again using recovery (sorry for bad grammar )
by the way, thank you for your big help..

No you need to do the 3 wipes data, cache and dalvik then choose install zip from sd card navigate to your cm7 zip or whichever Rom your flashing and select.

Borked my EVO

I have just managed to bork my EVO and need help! I was running 2.1 with the OTA update installed and unrEVOked3. I unrooted by using the RUU. Then I rooted again using the 2 step simple root. Everything seemed to have worked fine. I moved the pcimg36.zip to a folder on the sdcard. Sometime after restoring all my applications with Titanium backup, I lost the ability to USB mount my sdcard. Probably restored something I shouldn't have (I restored everything, thought I would be alright since it was the same release). I went into recovery to restore my nandroid backup I took right after I simple rooted. When I go into recovery, I get a picture of an EVO overlaid with a red triangle with an exclamation point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
nahh man sounds to me like yur just BORKED.
..
:d
sorry.
it sounds like you dont have a custom recovery : \. did you use the step on simple root to install clockwork recovery? if not try running that. you should be able to get to a recovery from the red ! by holding volume up and recovery but it sounds like it may be stock.
in all honesty you are prolly not completely screwed since it boots. through i will say this belongs in the Q&A section. let us know if you tried installing a recovery through simple root and results please
Remove your battery and go back into boot again...you said you are rooted right DL and installl another ROM then install ROM manager from th market, use this to try and recover your back-up

Nothing works at the triangle exclamation point. I did flash custom recovery. Ran nandroid backup right after rooting.
I am able to access ADB. Can I push something (some pcimg36.zip) to sdcard to get out of this?
Sorry to be off topic...I've been seeing borked a lot lately???? When the heck did this term start floating around?

I got this working again. Even though it was not recognized as a USB device, I did have ADB ability. I restored the RUU and rerooted. Thanks all for the help.

Hey man, I borked my EVO 4g too... What did you do to fix the sd from not being able to be mounted? I can only get into bootloader and recovery... And I heard that if you can get into either of those, the phone is fixable... Any help, please?

Pretty sure calkulin has a thread in dev section about fixing SD not being recognized. Also, have you tried removing it, booting, put back in boot again? Or try SD rescan app from market? What have you already tried and when did it start?
And that's funny, I never correlated borked with Robert Bork lol

[Q] please help im new. already rooted

i just rooted my epic the other day. i want to get this synicate rom i been hearing about. can someone please tell me in a very inexperienced way how to get it done. what programs i need to down load. i have EC05 on my phone now. I think i have to upgrade somehow to ext4 or something like thta. please help .
Just follow the instructions in the second post of the ROM thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976194
When you do the one-click root with CWM3 and boot into recovery for the first time, it'll convert it to EXT 4 automatically. Also, when the instructions say "Wipe data", they mean do it three times each to data/factory reset, cache and dalivik. It will wipe data though, so save any apps you have with titanium backup or mybackup root.
do i need to download the one click 3.0.0 in order to get ext4?
Yes, SpicyBurrito references this when saying "...when you do the one-click root with CWM3..." You'll need to flash CWM3 to get ext4.
It will convert automatically the next time you boot into recovery...so have a ROM flash ready as the stock RFS ROM will no longer work.
so basically re-root my phone with that cw3 and then should i have the rom already stored on my sd card before i run the cw3? sorry for the dumd questions man but im new to the terms people use here and am a admitted newbie.

3 gonna unplug phone then turn on debugging and connect phone and run the cw3 file and let it run its course.
4 after that process is complete im gonna use the volume down, start and camera button to go into the files and clear all the 3 types of data,
5 then im gonna find the syndicate file and install it from sd card.

Hey jimmyjames, let me give you some advice. Slow down a bit.
You're jumping in to the idea of rooting and flashing too quickly. I know you're anxious, but read a bit more and watch some videos. Believe me, I've learned from that too many times.
Like right now, I'm really tempted to flash the new CM7 Alpha 4. But I usually am not comfortable flashing ROMs, so I'm waiting until it's stable enough to flash.
what files do i need to download to start over.? help please. and i will heed all future advise
Acer, I feel ya on that. I am also waiting plus I neef my gps and camera functioning.

Questions
I have some questions ...
Firstly, with regard to the cm7 20111018-nightly v1.0, you mention that DEVTREE changed to UK2.2.2 and use CH2.6.0 kernel. Will the change in kernel appear in my phone ? (ie under kernel version)
Secondly, there is changes for the battd from uk2.2.2 (no battery jumping) Does it mean that the battery will not drop from 65% to 50 %?
Lastly, if I'm using the phone for mass storage and after i safely remove it, which is suppose to appear? ME722 or A953? (I'm from Asia region)
(I'm sorry, I cant post in the android development due to limited posts)
Thanks.

I'm having a problem. CM nightly does install fine and reboots but when I install droid2bootstrap and tries to boot into recovery, it does hangs on boot screen. Is there any specific directions I'm missing??
You cant use Droid2Bootstrap in CM7 or MIUI. They have integrated Bootmenu, which have included custom recovery.
ok then how to enter in recovery or Bootmenu? I'm giving a last go again :-(
Edit: I'm idiot!!!!! Cheers UFO for pointing.
After installing MIUI my Milestone2 is restarting constantly. Once installed, it worked normally. After installing several apps, it began to restart. I went back to voltage and frequency for stock. He kept restarting. I decided to start over. This time, I installed a few apps, restart stopped. After installing all the apps, To restart again. I was uninstalling apps, and it stopped rebooting. Is he related to the amount of apps, or even the amount of homescreens? I used the room (2.2.2 Argentina). MIUI 1.10.21V2. I believe that many users experienced this. Thank you.

I'm not 100% sure and just finished reading through this whole stuff for the Milestone 2, but I think it's (as of today) the file called: "cm7-20111027-NIGHTLY-Milestone2-ICS-Stable-v2.zip". The link is always at the end of the last changelog in the code box (just scroll a little bit down).

What is now different before the leaked ROM came to us, why can we now install custom a ROM? We have a suitable kernel?

Hello,
I'm following the steps to install CM7 on my phone - currently using "mostly blurless gingerbread" rom - but I'm getting an error message "Invalid MD5" when trying to apply the update (step 7).
Also, another question - do I need to unzip the update on the destination folder, or leave it unzipped?
Thanks in advance.

You can get to the bootmenu by rebooting your phone and when it starts up the LED will turn blue. When it turns blue press the volume down button. From the bootmenu you can choose the Recovery option.

You can get to the bootmenu by rebooting your phone and when it starts up the LED will turn blue. When it turns blue press the volume down button. From the bootmenu you can choose the Recovery option

It is not necessary to install the bootmenu as in step 6. You can install the droid2 bootstrapper and flash the ROM directly as the ROM already contains the bootmenu in it.

So far I've only noticed the problem with the home menu button as the user above had stated. And and this on to your list rongsang. Calls and data work straight off the bat CDMA Boost Mobile! Amazing job.
Great Job Rongsang! Nearly perfect! I had the home button problem too, but I reflashed the rom, and it still didn't work. So then I deleted the dalvik-cache when I was installing gapps, and now the home button works. Not sure what fixed it though, lol.

[Q] Odin Flash Failure - Advice Please

I've tried to flash my GT-I9505 using Odin and it's failed (please see screen grab below).
I used "I9505XXUBMH1-PRE-ROOTED-ODEX-FULL" from post 5 of this thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
{

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
A few weeks ago, I tried "I9505XXUBMGA-PRE-ROOTED-ODEX-FULL" from the same thread and that failed and locked up my phone.
Which I had to pay to get the phone re-flashed properly.
(I've used the above successfully in the past).
Now, I'm in the same position again with a failed flash and probably paying to have it fixed again.
On the phone itself, the progress bar is only 2mm long. So if I switch it off, it will probably mess everything up.
What should I do now, while it's still connected to the PC and how can I successfully flash it in the future ?
Thank you.
What firmware's currently on the phone ?

It's 4.2.2.
I've managed to get the phone "working" again, by using "I9505XXUAME2-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX".
Which is on the same thread.
But, since I got the phone working again, I can't get WiFi to switch on. Factory reseting via Settings doesn't fix it.
All the ROMs I downloading in the past (MF8, MGA and MH1) with "ODEX" in the title from the same thread don't work.
Odin (any version), says "Not Responding" when I try them and fails to update (using Win 8.1).

Sorry, but I've no idea what you're talking about.
Simple instructions, please.
If it's for post 3: If it's the same as powering off the phone and starting it with Vol. up, Home and Power keys and resetting it that way.
That didn't for resetting the phone and the WiFi problem.
If it's for post 1, please ignore.

Edit:
Just to update.
I've lost all sound and I can't play any music or videos, even the Samsung material.
have u flashed a custom-recovery like cwm, Philz or TWRP?
If "clearing data , cache and dalvik cache" are new for you, plz read more about this all.

Thanks for the reply.
CWM
I've deleted the cache partition and wipe data/factory rest.
I can't find the "dalvik cache", I've seen a YT video about it, but it's in "advanced settings", which I don't have.
I'm rooted , SuperSU is installed.
delvik cache is under advance option of philz recovery
AND DO INSTALL THE LATEST PHILZ RECOVERY V 6.0.0.1
Clearing cache/Dalvik ain't going to fix your problem. Your sound/WiFi is busted due to that bootloader issue. You need to flash a 'WiFi fix' (non-HLOS modem) to match your current firmware/bootloader. Go to the modem thread (search; easily found) & find a non-HLOS modem to match your current firmware (and I don't mean 4.2.2 or whatever, I mean XXUA, etc, etc)
Thank you for the replies and help.
This is the WiFi Fix page http://d-h.st/users/DjeMBeY/?fld_id=16262#files
But, my current FW isn't listed (ME2), I've tried ME3 and MEA, I think those are the ones before and after ME2 (maybe wrong).
But, they don't work. I've tried them multiple times.
I'm not sure which others to try.
I'm going to pay and hopefully get it fixed today.
But, I'd still like to know how to fix it, for future use.
It will mess up again, when I root it. That is unless I just stick with "I9505XXUAME2-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX" and not try later updated ROMs which have worked in the past).

I'm due to collect the phone tomorrow, I received info from them today (Geek Squad at Carphone Warehouse, a company based in the UK), saying that it had been fixed.
I'm guessing they reflashed it. But no info was given on what they did.
After I get it back, I think I'll get rid of it and get a HTC One instead.
Using a custom pre rooted ROM, just seems to mess the phone up.
Hopefully there's another way for the HTC. Plus, I shouldn't need to worry about Knox.
