SMS delay - EVO 4G General

I'm on the cm7 nightly and there is a really bad SMS delay is there a fix for this?

Call your local sprint store, as that's typically a network issue.

I get that problem too
"I am always one of many."

Yes, it COULD be a sprint problem. However, if you JUST flashed this rom, it's likely a problem with the rom. A quick way to find out is to flash your backup of a previous rom and see if it works, very simple.

Text Delays
I have had anywhere from hour long delays to week long delays in the Chitcago area. Talked to Sprint CS. As usual they had no clue.

SMS problems?

I'm running Syndicate Rom along with Phoenix kernel. As of late I've been having problems receiving text messages. Sometimes I'll receive them hours late (with the correct time stamp), other times I won't receive them till I send an outgoing message to the same person (where I get the pending messages almost instantly, again with the correct time stamp), and some messages I don't receive at all.
Has anyone experienced similar problems, and is it possible that it isn't ROM related but maybe some sort of other software conflict? Any ideas or input would be great
Thanks,

Same problem with stock di18. Its on sprint's end.
Yea, I've had this issue since Christmas. I thought it was my SMS popup application, but I think it's a Sprint issue. It's getting really annoying too.
Stock DI18, not rooted.

I've been having the same issue but it's only with certain people.
I notice it more on certain ROMs than others. Also I notice it more when texting my wife (sprint customer as well) than to/from other carriers.
Could be that it's on Sprint's end but not sure.

Occassionally, phone doesn't ring and missed no. not displayed

I did not come across this issue being mentioned, but if it has been, please point me in the right direction.
I have noticed the following behavior after upgrading/flashing to stock EB13, using ODIN:
On more than a few occassions, the phone does not ring or vibrate when a call comes in. Not only this, but the missed call no. does not display in the log of missed/received calls. This is quite annoying. Has anyone come across this?

Lately this has been a DAILY occurance for me and im PISSED about it. I use my phone for BUSINESS and my "business" is pretty important so I cant afford to be missing calls like this.
However I think that it has something to SPRINTS service and not the device itself.
Just odin'd back to STOCK DK28 & rooted last night.....It hasnt happened since....at least not yet...LOL
Yeah I think its sprint service too. My phone has done it on di18,dk28 and now eb13

Ditto on this. I suspect it is either Sprint or it's the crappy RIL they're talking about in the CM7 progress thread. I think this mostly because I had the same problem on my Moment.

Is there someone who can confirm if this is an issue with Sprint's service, or the firmware? I am having a hard time believing it would be Sprint's service, as I haven't read about this issue much - this does not prove anything, but still.
I use my phone for business, too, and definitely cannot afford to lose calls, and on top of that, not even have the missed calls appear in the call log.
Actually I was just talking to my wife and to be honest I don't ever rememrher evo doing that. Also I had an evo as well and I don't remember this issue as well. Maybe it is the epic then. Anyone else??

I've had that on every phone I've had with sprint in the last 10 years, sprint tech called it tower lock said if you remain for an extended period of time within one towers rande then move to another sometimes the calls won't get routed right, oddly enough when I've had it happen its not all calls, don't know if this is true or just bs from sprint, first time they had me take the battery out and wait 10 mins and it was fixed, second time they had to do something on their end and I had to update my prl
Haven't had it happen for about a year but I've since then moved and regularly travel between multiple towers
This has happened to me since I got this phone. Sometimes I can be calling my chick and she right in front of me and she won't receive 2 to 4 calls till the phone actually rings. Same on the receiving end she can be calling me and no calls come thru. She'll be all pissed telling me off why I don't answer my phone and ill check to see if its on silent and no, and no calls missed. I think it samsung cause my chick has an htc evo and this **** doesn't happen to her. This will probably be my last samsung purchase.
Same.here. my wife has an evo and she gets all her calls. I don't get them and I get the same thing as you. Why didn't you answer your phone? Cause the damn thing didn't ring!!!!!

Lmfao... "Why are you not answering your phone?" This is the text from my wife about a couple hours ago.. I was at my neighbors with avg 4 bars of signal... I think my touch pro was the absolute worst with this issue.. text messages hours late and VMs with no missed calls...
I don't think that many ppl use 'slydial'.

I can tell you it isn't a Sprint thing, as my HTC Aria does this as well and I am on AT&T.
Im applying for jobs right now and really need to receive phone calls. Does anyone have a fix at all for this? Ive updated the PRL and it just seems to get worse.
Well at least I know I'm not the only one.... I've had issues since going to EB13, never noticed it on other base-builds tho.
Yea its started on EB13 for me too
I've had this issue for years. I always presumed is was a CDMA thing. I have email, facebook, twitter, baseball news and others using 3g to check for new items. Since all these are on different timers, they may take up a not insignificant amount of bandwidth. As CDMA sends incomming calls to voicemail if you are using 3g, I thought this was what was causing the issue. But I never turned off all updates to see if the problem went away. Might be worth trying.

By your logic, if I go back to JuiceDefender, the problem may be resolved to a point.
I've had it happen from candybar and flip regular phones and dumb phones and smartphones. This is nothing new. I've experienced it for years. My suggestion is to tell people to try calling a second time. It usually gets through then. It's not the phone, its the service or technology. The phone might be in a sleeping cycle.

QFE - Both my TP and TP2 were awful about this. Still have it happen pretty frequently with the Epic. I'm sure it's issues in the network.

Text message from the future.

Anyone getting text messages from the future while on roaming? Is there a solution to fix this little probelm? I'd rather not have to use a 3rd party messaging app. I like the stock one. I'm running SRF 1.1.0.

It means that when he gets a text, it says its from a time later in the day. If he gets a text at 2p.m. the phone says he got it at 6 or 7 p.m.Usually only happens while roaming, and its a Samsung mms.apk problem, if you flash the aosp messaging, it doesn't have that problem.

Even while roaming, I only got a slew of "future" txts when I was out of my hometown...although it was the same time zone :-/
OTOH, I remember when it was New Year's Eve/Day with my old Touch Pro a few years back, and I got txts from 1/1/2013. I rejoiced in telling everyone that the Mayans were wrong and we wouldn't all die in the end times. :-D
respond back to that text from the future and ask the person for the result of the Game 2 Mavs vs Heat game. I would like to make me a few bets if ya know what I mean. ;P
I used to get these on my iphone lol but they would be from YEARS in the future and would be empty. ****ed with me for a bit. Ive never heard of anyone having this issue or even heard of the issue itself before. I just figured the iphone was a piece of **** later on lol

I have this problem quite often because I'm roaming at work. It happened on my old Hero as well. There are some apps in the market that have seemed to work, though they seemed hacky last I tried, and resigned to just live with it. Just now a search on the market revealed http://market.android.com/details?id=com.mattprecious.smsfix , which looks pretty good. Haven't tried it.

I was about to post about this before I read the entire thread. I had this same problem from day one with my Epic at work because the signal at my cube for either side isn't that great and I flip between Sprint & roaming on Verizon constantly without using Roam Control to force it to stay on Verizon (which is what I typically do since Verizon's signal strength is a little better comparatively where I sit).
Anyway, I discovered the SMS Time Fix app months ago and have been using it ever since...and it works *almost* flawlessly. I still get the occasional text that somehow slips past the app's resident process, but about 98% of the time it works perfectly and adjusts the timestamp on incoming texts. So I definitely suggest grabbing that and using it for anyone with this problem.

Yeah it gets annoying trying follow a conversation when all the texts are out of order. Now if I could get her to text me the winning powerball numbers.
I'll check out the aosp messaging. Thanks for the tip.

[Q] Delayed Texting

I am having a problem with me texts that i am sending. They take a while to get to the person that i am sending them to. I have an updated radio on my phone. I had this problem before i updated the radio also. Thanks for any help with this issue.
I'm assuming its happening with more than one person?
If so do they have the same carrier?
Its possible there is an issue with theirs.
Yes its happening to everyone I text. No matter what carrier they have.

It has happen to me before. Everytime I text my gf she would get it like 4 mins later...but I guess it could be the reception or the service..but only sometimes...

Voicemail bug from hell

This has now happened enough times that I don't think it's a coincidence. BTW I'm still on Froyo if that has anything to do with it. Anyway, if someone with Caller ID block calls me and leaves a VM, it gets delivered *days* late. Can anyone replicate this? Hope it's not so or will disappear when I finally do set aside the time to prepare for and flash GB.
I have had this same problem but can't say for sure if it is still happening on gingerbread because I haven't had a voicemail since I've updated
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
It seems to finally get delivered when another VM "pushes" it though. I suppose that if I had called VM the traditional way just to check at any time it would have shown up then. Wondering what's really at fault here, the phone software, Sprint's system or both.
Maybe a combination of both. Idk. I just had my wife send me one blocking her number and it came right through so maybe it was just a froyo bug. I will test this out more though. Kind of troubling since a lot of my clients call from blocked numbers. I tend to always be around my phone though but if I ever need it to push a voicemail I would like it to be done in a timely manner!

I had this with every other voicemail. I think it he sprint voicemail app and I think it was updated with gb. I not sure though, I just know the icon is different after updating.

Can confirm this just happened again and I only got the VM by calling. No notification.
