No bro u can't get the original icon

i am not quite sure and not a developer but i think you could. maybe with some .zip. ive seen other zip's that were used for changing the status bar icons - but for an other ROM. why not message walter and ask him , he always helps
You could try "cooking" a theme with just the battery icon you like from the Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen.
thank you ejstubbs,. i cooked the theme n m all smiles!

Hi
I read almost all the guides available on this site. I am sorry being new to this couldn't understand much about these 2 things :
Nandroid backup & fixed sbf
a) Suppose if I want to update my Froyo 2.2.2 to MS2ginger, then in this case whose Nandroid backup has to be taken & how it is taken?
b) Secondly should I use fixed sbf of Froyo or MS2giner ?
Please help me to understand this concept, I am really really confused , N I am dieing to update my Defy .. Pls support ..!!

[Q] Pls HELP: Upgrading my Defy

Hi All
I am newbie here. Having a Motorola Defy ( Bayer module ). Want to update the Froyo 2.2.2 to GB. I read lots of articles on this site & watched videos. Found a video on youtube flashing defy with MS2Ginger. Link is as below :
youtube.com/watch?v=veF5u-BOTJo&feature=related
( Please add www as this doesn't allow me to add )
Just wondering if someone could tell me if this is safe method to flash my mobile ( in case if something goes wrong or I don't like the ROM, I could go back to my Froyo ). In the video person has used fixed sbf . Please suggest, can I use this method to flash ?
Secondly, which ROM will be better : CM 7.1.0 or MS2ginger ?
( In India , lots of call drops n data problems kind of things I have read on this site ) But I want a fast and hassle free ROM. Please suggest if any other good ROM is there , particularly suitable to Indian conditions.
Sorry for my poor English . But please support.
Thanks
Tarun
For upgrading using sbf, follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
Check the version you want to upgrade. I have defy+, with 2.3.4. I flashed mine to 2.3.6 in 15 minutes.
Download the motorola driver ,RSD Lite, and the stock sbf which your model supports.
Shutdown defy. Press Vol Up + Power, connect usb. run rsd lite to install the sbf. It simply flashes the phone to the new version.
Or you can use recovery (Vol Down + Power ) then Press Volume up. Here you can flash using recovery any CM7 based roms.
Which ROM is good enough
Thanks ksrgroup, but any suggestion for ROM, like almost every ROM has some problem. I was planning to choose one CM 7.1.0 & MS2ginger ? .. Any idea..
Also, flashing full sbf I guess my downgradability will be lost.
Can someone clear this concept under what circumstances my downgradability is lost ?
Pls help
Pls help
Did anybody check the youtube link i gave ? Can someone tell me if its the method which keeps the downgradability ?
Please support..
Also, suggest a good ROM too..!!
Hi,
Your current rom is froyo 2.2.2 version. If you want save your downgradability DON'T FLASH a FULL GB SBF. You can flash all the CM7 (froyo original kernel) and MS2ginger (Nandroid + fixed SBF) roms without problem and all the NANDROID of GB version made by walter79. But don't forgot to made a nandroid backup of your rom before and try to find the full sbf of your current rom if you need to go back stock (warranty).
About the rom CM7 vs MS2ginger :
This roms are very different so try them to make your own opinion. My favorite is CM7 (more closed to AOSP rom) but it's really a personal choice and these 2 roms are pretty good.

Call drops with MS2Ginger : Pls help
Hi all
Finally after reading lots of details I updated my Defy with MS2ginger 2.1 ( GB 2.3.4) .. .. But I am facing 2 probs :
1) Call drops : many times my fone gets disconnected . I tried ITfunz baseband switcher, but couldn't find the one for India. Then in this case which should be used. Secondly what is the method to find currently which band I am using.
2) There is an app " Accu weather " . I don't want to use this app. it eats a lot of RAM . Any method to uninstall it from my Defy.
Please help frenz..!! ...
To check the band you use : Settings / Wireless and networks / Mobile networks.
For save/recover/delete apps : Titanium backup on the Market
but how to stop call drops ..???

You don't need a specific baseband for India, use anything that says 900/2100MHz because that is the frequency that mobile service is provided here. (900/2100MHz in Hong Kong = 900/2100MHz in India or anywhere else in the world)

If you mean system app, you can remove it using Titanium Backup. Or just freeze it if you have TiBkup Pro...
Or if you want, you can delete it from /system/app using some root explorer like ES File Explorer with root permissions

Tarun, I tried almost all the available ROMS for defy, and i would suggest cm7 or ms2g. If you have titanium backup pro, then you can freeze otherwise take backup and uninstall. For speed improvements you can overclock and remove the moto bloat ware. If you have root explorer you can simply edit system/bootmenu/config/overclock.cnf file otherwise boot into boot-menu, then cpu-settings and change the clock and vsel values to your likings and save (dont forget) and reboot.
You can use LG camera for video bit rate changing, i use 720p with 13-20mbit/sec rate and quality is very good.
The battery consumption in standby is vry low for ms2g till all the roms i used. during night where in unused timings for every 3+ hours 1% consume which is too good. For CM7 based roms it was 35-40min whic too bad for me. wait for a day/two till your battery stabilizes.

Qustion for ROM on LG GT 540

Hello I'm new here and new user of Android system. One week ago I update my 1.6 to 2.1 and its nice but i saw some problems ( no app2sd, slow when use some apllications music, internet, GPS ) and i think i can update my phone on custom ROM because i heard, custom rom's sometimes are better and very cool : )
Im read very very many thread and i feel in my brain fire : D
Now I have phone with 1Gb memory but tomorrow i goingo to have 8 Gb SDHC memory class 6 and want to try new ROM : )
Can you tell me what is in your opinion the best ROM for me ? That is what im looking (its very important for me ) :
- app2sd ( i need to instal apllications on SD because that LG have little memory ; / and you konow.. when i have sdhc i want to use it : )
- fast and good optymalization ( when i run a Internet , music and GPS phone dont slow down )
- all or 99% must working ! i need working phone i must have WiFi, GPS, Music , games , aplications , SMS, ringing all, all im new user and i cant fix it alone
- goot battery ( i would like to battery live for 2-3 days when i evry day ring for 5-7 min , write 5-7 SMS , use appllications for 30 min or 1h or GPS )
Sorry if my english is very very very low ? ; / but i tried write it good : P
Please help me , and I thank all ppl for all sugestions : )
I am using sdsl 2.1 with 2.6.29REVO kernel it is very good
Sorry mate but I think 2 days battery is very very hard..
i get 2 days of battery
i get 3 days with GreenDroid 2.0, screenshot attached.
snakkarike your battery live 2 days , but what do you do in 2 days on phone ?
and my question 2 is : One ppl tell me about SOFT-MOD , what is it ? Its a modification a custom ROM's for people from forum ? from amateur ?
and 3: what do you think about Soft Mod
Thanks for help : )
i use wifi irregurarly for about 3 hours get few call and write some messages and soft mod is a modification of the original mod by addition of some apps and changing the themes.like make our phone look like a wondows phone or an iphone etc
There are several options:
2.1 Custom (e.g EleganceSwift, Greendroid...) then you will have good battery life and with good optimization its way faster than stock. 100 % working
2.2 Custom (not really any 100% usable ROM)
2.3.7 Custom (CM7 by tejasdj12 or miroslav_mm) 1-2 days of battery, 95% working, quite fast, but not as stable as 2.1.
4.x not recommended for your preferences
Okey I'm going to try CyanogenMod 7 but SwiftDroid 2.1 on kernel .29 or Tejasdj ? Boyz : D what do you think ? :cyclops:

Sdsl + 35 is facing connection issues (wifi drop,.gsm problems) and random reboots
Edit: your not stupid, your questions are adequate. This is what the forum is for so answering is not wasting time for me

Dear friend ... Welcome to XDA ... At first let me tell you not to worry about the language ... I'm Persian and you can hardly find people that know English Well ... As You said you can make a call so it means that your Hardware is working well ... the problem should be from the Radio ROM ... I mean try installing The latest Radio ROM (For EU HD2 it's 2.15.50.14 I don't know the exact version of the T-mobile HD2) From Hi,all members of xda.Im a new user and sorry if my english is bad but i'm a bulgarian

It's not workig bro i installed the last radio rom and android NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA_V2.9a work but when i call operator or something it's freeze ...
Hello h3tr1k,
my guess: either a bad flash => try setting up the ROM from the scratch
OR
maybe you overclocked you device? Mine tends to freeze and humm when phone connection is establishing. Try standard CPU clock frequency.
OR
It comes to my mind that bad NAND blocks are the cause of your issue. You could try installing a NativeSD or DirectSD Android version to rule that out.
Kindest regards
Getrid
