MIUI 2.1.6 for Nexus S
miui_NS_2.1.6_2a59cc9e13_4.0.zip (116.64 MB)

Has anyone flashed this yet? Can you change themes like in GB Miui?

I am using it with eugene's ICUP kernel and it works great. Yes you can change themes.

Not really, the whole theme won't apply but at least the icons and lockscreen theme work :/

No YouTube?!
ROM works fine, but YouTube STILL doesn't show up in the Market!
How is it possible that this bug persists week after week?

Miui Issue
While this rom looked really cool, right form the outset i had a ton of fc's (Android.process.acore), and everyithing was in chinese, in cluding the process.acore error.
It look a lot of ninja tapping skills to eventually find the menu to change the language (I actually looked on the miui site at the chinese characters for "chinese", and was able to click on it, and then select english.)
Thank goodness for titanium backup.
For anyone else stuck in a similar situation don't be a noob like me and forget to wipe dalvik cache. That and to change to English go to settings, scroll down and hit the "A" icon underneath the padlock, then select the very top-most menu, then, english.

If you want to try the original MIUI, before flashing just open the zip file and edit these two lines in system/build.prop
Code:
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=US
You'll get everything in English from the first boot. However, a better way is to download one of the MIUI mods in the Development section -- they come in English, plus some fixes and performance tweaks

Thanx for the link, better than download from china....

Lock screen bug? (CM 5.0.2)

Hello there,
I'm using CM 5.0.2 and I found this: You can unlock phone by pressing menu. Is this behavior intended? Doesn't it beats the whole slide-to-unlock purpose???
I haven't tested this in stock image...
Regards,
Thiago Souza
Doesn't work here on cm 5.02
I need to slide.
I actually fixed this in 5.0.2- if your menu key still works, I'm going to guess that you flashed a theme that contained a different framework-res. It's one of the options in config.xml.

Hi cyanogen,
You are right, I did flashed a theme (Kspec). Where is this config.xml? What should I change?
Do you know any other issue that I should look because I flashed this theme?
Regards,
Thiago Souza
This would depend on the theme, potentially, anything else the themer didn't copy over.

[MOD][KJ3] 9 QuickPanel Toggle Options

Modded version of SystemUI to add 9 Toggle functions to the QuickPanel. There is also longpress options to go directly to the setting.
I have only tested this on KJ3 so I'm not sure if it'll work on previous versions or not. Use at your own risk.
Special thanks to crt60 for helping me get this running in KJ3

Deodexed and CWM ready. Enjoy

If running a custom version of ROM KJx, will this also change my battery, clock, data and wifi icons in the notification bar at the top of the drawer back to stock?
Awesome, I extracted the systemui.apk and used root explorer to drop it in system/app then rebooted and it worked flawlessly! Thanks for this.
Yes some of the bar icons are controlled by SystemUI.apk, but also from framework-res.apk so I'm not exactly sure what would change.
I had a similar situation with a previous rom where sometimes my signal bars world be white and sometimes green because the framework file had green icons and my sysui file had white.
Its best to backup your files, in this case SystemUI.apk, before trying out a new one

Awesome mod!! Been wanting this for a while now. I was even trying to get this done myself but it just didn't work. I can report this works!! Thank you for this!!
There are two small things I noticed I just thought I would mention though. Carrier name is not shown in the drop down, and when I scroll to any side, there is no overscroll glow on the sides. I am using crt60's power menu and crt off mods.

it appears that this only works for deodexed ROM
tried it after flashing the KJ3 odin one click and status bar will not start keeps force closing
IM assuming that if one was to deodex the stock rom it would work
but wouldn't it be simpler to make a package like this that works on stock odexed?
Actually if i remember correctly it is more difficult to theme an odexed rom as opposed to a deodexed.
How easy would it be to re-odex this package so it would work on an odexed ROM? Is that some thing i could do myself?
If so how? Im sure there are other people wondering the same thing.
I would love to have the 9toggles but it seems this is impossible with an odexed rom. why-o-why?
I installed your system.ui apk with root explorer sucessfully onto Fasty's KJ1...only changes were; lost transparent dropdown and logo, and 'H' is now 3G only (native to KJ3?), and wifi + data icon are stock...these are all non-issues for me as the usefulness of the 9 toggle trade-off is well worth it! Fasty's KJ1 battery icon (personal favorite) remained! Thanks.
Same result as above. Thanks.
This is Blitz76's 9 QuickPanel Toggle with the over scroll fixed.
That was my bad.....

Thanks crt60, I tried the update you posted but I still don't see the overscroll glow. I flashed from cwm, then I tried just copying and pasting w/ root explorer. Am I doing something wrong?
Oh and did you guys remove the provider name from the drop down on purpose?

The over scroll I'm talking about is when you scroll it, it went too far to the left. I have absolutely nothing to do with the code, I just assisted with some graphics.
There is no "you guys" about it. Its all blitz76. I wouldn't have even posted this fix if I didn't think he was really busy and might not be back for a few days.

Also got FC but managed to get it working.
Use a file manager to mount /system/app rw then rename SystemUI.odex to SystemUI.odex.old, then reboot. This should fix the issue.
However I noticed that carrier name is now gone from pulldown menu, is it by design?

Hello,
I would like to know if this ROM is prepared for daily use. I have a friend who uses Galaxy Ace, and he would like to have better battery life and probably better results than using stock ROM.
Is there any known issues such as WIFI, 3G, connectivity, something that I must know before proceeding with it?
Thanks in advance.

AOSP Keyboard with 5 Rows (Number Row on top)

As a lot of people were asking and because it was what I missed in Cyanogenmod here it finally is:
AOSP Keyboard taken from Kitkat 4.4.2 with a Number Row on top! It took me some hours to get all working. Insted of the the old number row there are new symbols, more are coming.
The keyboard works on Android 4.3 and 4.4 (both tested) and on all ROMs (AOSP, AOPK, CM, TW...)
Install instructions:
1. copy it to /system/app/
2. tap on it and install it or just reboot
3. go to settings and activate it
4. when using the keyboard the next time pull down the notification drawer and change the keyboard
5. Hit "thank you" button if I works and I helped!

You can use PC layout for tablets, here's how to enable it:
1. Open AOSP/Google Keyboard settings
2. Choose Advanced settings, then choose custom input styles.
3. Add a new style using language English (US) and layout PC.
4. Follow the instructions to enable the layout.
5. To switch to the new layout, hold the spacebar until a popup menu appears, and choose the new layout.
The screenshot is taken on my Tab 2 7.0, so it looks a bit cramped.

Build # 4 is stable and base for future, new recoveries.
