Hello, while I was testing 2.3.5 witch was great except that the mobile network was not woorking at all. So I decided that I needed too downgrade. And when I was browsing the phone I accidentally found this way.
This has not been proofed by anyone else I think.
Disclaimer: I do not take the resposibility for your device.
1. Put the dload on the root of SD-card (I used 138sp4)
2. Then go to storage in preferences. Head too the bottom then choose "upgrade SD-card". The phone blacked out, started up and installed 2.2
3. The phone boots up in recovery because of many errors. I choose wipe data/chache and wipe chache and reboot.
4. The phone rebooted and I am back to 2.2.2 from 2.3.5.
This method keeps the start-boot-picture (does not know if the other sulutions keeps it).
Sorry for my bad grammar on some of the words. I just wrote them down and did not have the time to fix them.
Hmmm...interesting....maybe I should try 2.3.5 even if I have the Atmel screen. :/

I have atmel screen but I like it because i wear gloves and the screen is so sensitive that it responds thrugh them.
I was forced to downgrade from 3.2.5 to 2.2.2 for the exacly same reason and i tryied that same way you did and i couldnt do it, i got a message saying something like "there are no upgrade firmware inside the SD card". So i used the root & replace boot and recovery files to downgrade what was a sucess. Got the same issues as you with the boot but the "wipe data/chache" from recovery resolved it.

The decision to distort the battery. Insert, connect the USB to the phone (on the other end connected to a computer), press and hold keys + - food, and wait a few seconds, as soon as you see a red flashing light, unplug the data cable, you can start sewn.

Yes its working great but if u have custom rom installed remember to factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik in recovery before downgrade, if u will not do this phone will stay at unpacking screen forever.

There is no longer a Factory Reset option in SD card & storage settings; what is going on with my phone?!!? AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I called tech support and they told me an alternate way to perform the factory reset. Power Off, Hold Home+Power button for 20 sec, etc. Gonna try that and hopefully my phone will work properly.
Thanks for the help,

Sad story really. Factory data reset wasn't paying the rent and got evicted from SD card and phone storage settings. Now living under the Privacy settings bridge in a cardboard box. All because it couldn't be content with donuts and blew the the rent money on a frozen yogurt habit.

Wow. Creative!
Is there anyway to revert back to 1.6, or am I stuck with 2.2.1? I did the factory reset and the phone is running ok, but it ran much better before.
I'm having an issue with the browser.. My phone reboots when I open the browser and try to run a search, or while I'm typing in a website address. However, the phone is stable when I run searches or "go to" websites via the Google widget. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Adam
I had exactly the same problem.
I was quite happy with the speed of 1.6. Got the OTA update to 2.2.1 and I have hated the phone since! Rang HTC to see if anything can be done and as usual no returned calls etc.
I ended up rooting it and using setcpu to get it almost back to how it was but it still has its issues.
I would put a custom rom on but I dont want to risk bricking it just yet.
Download this, rename it to update.zip (not update.zip.zip), and put it on the root of your SD card. Boot into recovery, do the factory reset from there, then select apply update.zip from SD card. Let it do it's thing. The problem is that you did the factory reset AFTER installing, doing it before is the way to go. The file is the official update, so you'll just be re-installing it.
@creative, your past the hard part. Just download/install ROM Manager from Market, select "Flash Custom Recovery", reboot into recovery, wipe, and flash whatever ROM you want. Or just do the above to get the 2.2.1 working better.

Do another factory reset and this time let it sit there (DON'T TOUCH IT!) for a solid 10-15 minutes after it gets to the sign-in screen. This is a very slow phone in the first place and there are all sorts of background processes and "thinking" going on the first time you boot up into new software.
I've flashed many roms on my old mt3g and this genuinely makes a huge difference. Try it.
Oh, and did I mention this phone is just slow in the first place? It is, and it has way too little RAM. Why on earth T-mobile gave us the 32B instead of 32A, I will never know...

Your not going to be able to flash the update.zip if your using CM 6.1, the install will just fail. You'll have to return the phone to stock using the stock sappimg, then apply the update. You will lose root, but you can get it right back using SuperOneClick. Nothing should happen to your phone unless something happens while its updating the radio, which is nearly impossible unless you pop the battery out or drop it or something of that sort during the update (same risk you run if you do the update OTA).
I had the same problem. Before I updated, I formatted the SD and wiped everything. I left the phone on the counter over night after flashing. 6 hours later and it was still pretty bad.
I just went back to stock and I'm going to try Gio's themed ota.
Edit: Gio's version is blazing. Just in case anyone was wondering.

Or you could rename the file to sappimg.zip and power the phone off and hold down the Volume Down + Power and press the Action button (which is just pressing the scroll ball) and it will take you phone back to your factory reset. Then you can root and install you ROM as mentioned above.

No you can't. That update depends on the 1.6 build. It's just patching the 1.6 build to 2.2.1, when your loading up a sappimg, it's looking to update all the partitions (e.g. SPL, recovery, radio, system, data, etc.). So, it won't work this way, and in reality, you should just get an error in hboot trying to run this as a sappimg.
Follow the advice on this attachment. My Magic was useless after update. While not perfect now, this helped a lot.

This thread is sad news to me.....I bought a mytouch last week on eBay expecting to do the froyo update to replace my blackberry 9700 that is having all kinds of issues after a few accidental drops. Sounds like I would be better off flashing it with one of the donut faster roms than going to 2.2
The stock rom provides stock performance and does work fine. Just need to wipe and give it time to finish running all the background processes to sync the Google bits.
I will say root and OC to 614 works wonders: I have been going back and forth between the 1.2 and Fender OTA ROM's making tweeks and have a stable, fast and battery effcient phone with both. Makes me wonder if other members coming from a CM rom or others with OC are basing a lot of their sluggish compliants (after the Google sync is done) from running at 528mhz.
Don't give up, just pop the hood and tweak to your liking.
Kind Regards,
Kevin

pretty much the stock rom is evil made my phone choppy even after a full wipe and i let it boot completely i had to root my phone and put a new rom on there i suggest cm6.1 its stable and good for new rom/root users
Edit:yes the mt3g is old and the fastest i ever seen it was on a rom that wasn't OTA (over the air) its from 09 give it a break. a few months left then i can get a new phone with more ram im almost off my contract lol

Hi Mate,
Elaborate bit more on the problem bruv, be more descriptive on the issue.
Its hard to understand what fast boot commands were run.
please provide the stats of the phone :
whats the Baseband
Kernel and OEM VERSION
I mean if it made any changes to that.
If you want you can head to the Streak Wiki page and get links to install the 351 or the latest 354 official roms or if you are bit adventurous then you can try custom roms by DJ Steve's Streak Droids or Spidla's Simple streak.
Just remember to be descriptive with the problems that you are facing and you will get answers...For cryin out loud you are at XDA mayn!!
One thing more if you would like then give a shot to factory reset....might help!!
Cheers

Looks like a number of people are having a similar issue to what happened to my streak. Random crashes and force closures then loss of phone functions and a vicious restart loop.
I tried a bunch of stuff thinking that it was the amss and dsp1 updates I made when moving to Streakdroid that did it. Brought my phone back to stock using the QDL tool and then let it do the official update to the latest AT&T build. IT worked fine for a while then the restart loop showed up again.
Not fun. I got another streak and I won't do anything to it until I figure out how to pull the stock 1.6 6601 build from it. That way I can copy that to my faulty streak to see if that fixes anything.
I read somewhere in this forum, someone's sim also cause the phone to act up.
Try see if you have problems with the phone without the sim.
If it still acts up, it's gonna be hard to trace what's going on since most here have tried alot of ways to fix it.

Yeah.... once i turned it one without sim... and he didn't crash... must be it. I'll test it.
But I want a phone for all sim cards... still have warranty...maybe to complain to provider. But there's a catch i dont Use T-mobile card, where mobile phone is bought. (he wasn't branded and locked)
And another thing... why he didn't do that when i get it few months ago? why now? Everything worked perfect few monts.
Noup, it's not the sim.I put another providers new sim card and take out sim card, and he still keep reseting.
Hmm maybe also try changing the sdcard and see if it still crashes? If changing the sdcard also crash then it could be some hardware fault somewhere.
Or if you don't mind Simplestreak 1.2 rom, you can try the below:
If you have streakmod recovery installed, i have uploaded a fresh installation of simplestreak 1.2 here http://www.multiupload.com/VO4MPI0U0G.
If you have existing rom back up in your sdcard then unzip and copy the folder into the nanodroid backup directory, else create a directory called "rom_backup" and unzip the folder into it.
Once done, boot into the streakmod recovery and go to the nanodroid backup and select the option to restore.
Hopefully this will restore a working new simplestreak 1.2 rom into your streak.
It all started after the removal and installation of native myui. Before that everything was fine, install and remove, and then on to you. First, when you turn on WiFi getting reset. This is 2.3 to 2.2 everything is OK. And now stopped to install 2.2. After installation, the phone reboots and starts again recover the menu. I do not know what to do, only set modes and Diagen miui.

I'm flashing my phone very easy and it never ever wiped or something sd-ext. It always says skipping, cause there is no sd-ext.
Put stock rom in sd card (whole dload folder) and boot your device with VOL+ and VOL- pressed while pressing power on) It should update. This is a guide to install cyanogenmod 7.2 on the Motorola Flipside coming from stock Froyo the fastest and easiest way.
1. Root the flipside using superoneclick
2. Download the flipout recovery apk from the flipside development section

3. Download the Cyanogenmod rom from the flipside general section
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517880
4. Move both the apk and the rom zip to your SD card of your device
5. Turn on your device and then install the apk.
6. After installation open the app and hit install recovery system.
7. When its done hit reboot recovery
8. After its in recovery wipe data, cache, dalvik cache
9. Install rom zip from SD card
10. When complete hit reboot system now
Note: If It does not reboot but instead bootloops, pull the battery and the boot the phone while holding the x on the physical keyboard, when the motorola symbol appears let go of the power button while still holding the x button. once you see the yellow caution symbol with the android press vol up and vol down. In this recovery wip data and cache then rebbot. it should now boot into CM7
Enjoy

Thanks. Going to try this now. Fingers crossed!
Edit: Ok. Successful install on the first try. A few problems though. 3g doesn't work (known issue) and I haven't been able to get link2sd working again just yet. I didnt have that problem with mine. Didnt have to use that fix as it was working just fine without going through that. Unfortunately I bricked mine after I stupidly reinstalled the flipout bootloader again. (DO NOT do that). Its stuck in an endless boot loop. Im unable to flash the sbf for froyo through RSD Lite because the phone switches off when its plugged into the pc. Which means its bricked unless i can get an official update.zip to flash through the bootloader manually. (i doubt that would even work because you cant downgrade with an update.zip file afaik)

Why would you reinstall the flipout bootloader?? after installing the cm7 its recovery is installed as well. to enter it all you have to do is hit reboot and the recovery from your power menu. sounds like u messed up bigtime
I know. I really messed up. I think I did it to reflash the rom to bring it back to stock settings. I carried it back to the store I bought it. My warranty is still valid and they don't have the technical means to figure out whether I tampered with the software. I'll likely get a new one or another one worth the same value I paid for the flipside.
I was about to sell it to a friend anyway as I'm more interested in the galaxy nexus. I guess it's not all that bad. If I do get it or a new one back, I'll donate it to someone working on the ROM. So in the end, we all win.
Hello guys! first of all sorry for my English!...well i messed up my u8800-51 and i cant get it to work, i´ve read most of related posts, but nothing work, so i'll try to explay what happened, i hope u understand my issue and help me...
Ok i had a 2.3.5 GB non-official installed, from androidmovida.. my phone was working just fine, but due to all the apps and media it was kind of slowing down, so i restored it to factory settings... when i did this, my phone started up normal, and it was almost perfect again, but i realized that even without any app installed i had 800mb of the ROM occupied, leaving me less than 200mb, this was just wrong, the ammount of memory used just after a factory reset should be around 350mb... so i installed cwm 5.0.2.7 and booted it to recovery mode, here i pressed;
wipe data/factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
and what i think that screwed my phone..i went to mount and storage and pressed format /system...
Since then my phone didnt start, but i was able to get into the recovery mode... so i downoaded the stock 2.2 froyo from huawei
(this page is in spanish cuz the phone is sold in Venezuela).
i formated my SD card, and put the dload folder in its root and the update process started, but failed...
now i cant even get to the recovery mode, ive tride the process to install the fw a million times and it keeps failling..
and i just can get to the updating process or to the pink screen..if i connect my phone and leave it connected it shows up the logo and turn off, and repeat over and over..
my guess is that somehow i cant install the rom because the memory is almost full, but i have no idea of how to clear it!
if any of u guys can help me i would appriciate it a lot!!!
again sorry for my English and for the long post, but i wanted to be specific so you dont waste time telling me to do things ive already done! thank you!!!!

Hello guys! first of all sorry for my English!...well i messed up my u8800-51 and i cant get it to work, i´ve read most of related posts, but nothing work, so i'll try to explay what happened, i hope u understand my issue and help me...
Ok i had a 2.3.5 GB non-official installed, from androidmovida.. my phone was working just fine, but due to all the apps and media it was kind of slowing down, so i restored it to factory settings... when i did this, my phone started up normal, and it was almost perfect again, but i realized that even without any app installed i had 800mb of the ROM occupied, leaving me less than 200mb, this was just wrong, the ammount of memory used just after a factory reset should be around 350mb... so i installed cwm 5.0.2.7 and booted it to recovery mode, here i pressed;
wipe data/factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
and what i think that screwed my phone..i went to mount and storage and pressed format /system...

You need a micro sd reader and hook it up to a computer than copy the stock gb over and delete the old froyo. You should've asked.
I've read this may work, but android movida was closed down.
Try this.

sorry its embarrasing i have to ask, but i'm new with android so im a little lost! but according to what i got to learn last night trying to make my phone come back to life, there's no GB stock for the u8800-51, actually the only stock fw in huawei was the one i downloaded, and the one i installed from androidmovida required froyo to be succesfully updated..anyways ill download GB to see what happens, but if you could be a little more specific it would be nice, buecause as i said, i just learned a few things last night!!
Thank you very much for your help!
