CodeName Android is now officially supported on the Vibrant so this thread's life is at an end.
Go here:http://codenameandroid.com/cna-1-5-0-add-multiple-devices-and-nightly-builds/ to get the latest nightly build.
or in XDA here for sixstringsg's build:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531135
HERE WE GO with CodeNameAndroid 1.4.0 Nightlies for my (or your) Vibrant. This is pure CNA. It is from a I9000 (nightly) build made by Bubble-be from the 02-26-2012 source.
Bubble-be’s thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512938
It is a straight build from source, nothing added, nothing changed. I have only ported it to the Vibrant. GAPPS is not included so you will need to flash GAPPS after flashing the rom. I have removed the asserts in the update script so be sure you have a T-Mobile SGH-T959 Vibrant before flashing.
Please visit and donate at the CodeName Android Development Site @ http://www.codenameandroid.com
This is a port that I personally made for myself. I liked it so much I decide to share with all here.
If you are an experienced user try it out. As I made this for me, what you see is what you get.
Do not expect support, although I will try to help if you have problems. Please visit the pages linked above to get info and change logs etc.
Additional issues fixed in the 02/26 nightly besides those in the below change log.

My installation method:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Format /system
Flash rom
Flash GAPPS
Wipe Dalvik
Fix permissions
reboot recovery
reboot system, wait 10 min for Dalvik cache to build
reboot system
Older ports
CNA 1.4.0 nightly 02/23
Rom: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17980900/CNA_4.0.3_v1.4_2-24-2012_Vibrant.zip Kernel is Nelsons v12 b8 for ICS Passion
GAPPS 02/15/2012: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17980900/gapps-ics-20120215-signed.zip
DaxINFINITY ported the CodeNameAndroid rom from the Nexus S to the I9000. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485734. 1.3.2 and 1.3.3 are ports of ports. GAPPS are included.
Here's the flashable zip of CNA 1.3.2 ported to the Vibrant (includes gps fix also) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17980900/CNA_4.0.3_1.3.2_Vibrant-signed.zip
Here's the flashable zip of CNA 1.3.3 ( GPS works but it does not survive deep sleep) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17980900/CNA_4.0.3-1.3.3-Vibrant-signed.zip
No Wipe needed over CNA 1.3.2, full wipe is OK and probably recomended if you are using a kernel other than stock.
Do a backup, try it out.
Best ICS if used!
I've been using this for about 4 hours and I have to say this is the smoothest most customizable ics rom I have used.
And thank you for posting all the need files, would have been nice when I flash this earlier.

Yeah, It's pretty sweet. I haven't run into any bugs yet.
The only thing I found is that the signal bars are full when you have service but nothing in between. So it shows either you have no service or full service but that's not a big deal.

I also have a no go on GPS. I need to find the right GPS files to insert.
edit: Flashed the Passion v9+gps kernel then then Passion b8 kernel on top of it rebooted and now gps locks.
edit: I put full rom up for download with gps fix in the OP.

Nice work, just a heads up I'm using the latest glich(b3) and got black screen after unlocking. But then I just locked then unlocked again and it was fine.
Edit: oh and by the way I don't think I'll go back to another ics rom, it has been that good!
The bomb
This rom is the bomb.....thanks Bob
WOW.
This is a pretty damn smooth rom. Smoother than the experience i've had with Passion.
Bob, I want you to make a [PORT] thread in the dev section. This is a really good ROM that you've ported. and I thank you.
I came directly from V13 Passion, no wipe. Did follow instructions from OP.
Some notes: The Bootanimation looks really low quality and pixelated.
Are you using the same kernel as Passion? It has the same image for the kernel loader.
The rom boots up REALLY fast.
Errors:
Currently my Market is NOT working. Rebooted, and I will perform OTHER things to try and fix it, but the error is "SERVER ERROR =RETRY="
I tried Wiping DATA,CACHE etc.
I will now try to push another VENDING.APK from the actual rom into this.
Cancel that, tried it, did not work. Also I looked in this ROMS System/APP and there is no Vending.apk ...?
=====================================================
I TRIED TO FLASH FROM ABSOLUTE WIPE market still does not work.
Another problemo: External SD does not show up mounted on computer.
Another: It takes a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time to get signal for me.
Haven't tested if its just the signal not updating itself or not...
If nothing works, i'll wipe data(format) and then try again. This seems like a good rom to try out. I'll let others know as well.
*so far recommended to try by me, the smoothness is amazing.

Not sure about the market mine is working, but the external sd is a know problem. They are working on a fix in the next release over in the i9000 forum.
Mine also takes a while to get service, about a min if not more after boot.

Thanks, Things I've noted.
External SD does not show up on computer but works on phone.
It sometimes takes awhile after reboot to get phone service, but it comes. toggling wifi usually turns it on.
In the reboot menu it looks like reboot is selected but it's actually recovery. select reboot again and you're fine.
I'm using the Passion v12 b8 kernel. I tried Glitch but didn't like.
My market worked fine, but I have either upgraded from Passion v12 or did a wipe and started from scratch.
GPS works fine after a boot but IDK if will continue after deep sleep.
After a clean wipe, market is still not working, and it is not my wifi connection, i tried browser and went to other websites, and it works.
Anyone mind giving me their Vending.apk or something and tell me where to put it i thought it was system/app
Or anyone know what to do about Market problem?

I've been working on a 1.3.3 port but they changed a lot. and GPS is hosed so far, won't stop pinging, will probably drain the battery fast. If I can figure it out I'll post it.

ignore my issues about market, i rebooted for the... 6th time and then it decided to finally let me into Google Market. haha
Anyways i'll give it a shot for a day, and regarding the post above the one you posted, I don't have a data plan, so I don't ever use GPS anyways. Is there a way I can shut it off from pinging so much? remove gps files itself or something??
thanks for the great rom bro.
aww it doesn't have ICS style blue checkmarks

Hey bob if its giving you that much trouble, 1.3.3.1 is going to be released tomorrow with some fixes, so maybe wait till then. And a quick Q; where do you replace the kernel files in the rom zip so i dont have to flash it afterwards?
Alright thanks man, bootanimation goes in system/media correct?
Also, MAKE A THREAD FOR THIS RIGHT [email protected]$#@%[email protected]
IDK if you're going to keep the same name from ported rom or make a new one, but if you decide on a new one, make it something interesting something thats fun to say

The boot animation is a CWM flashable. or pull bootanimation.zip out and put in system/media.
Any ideas about the bit of lag i'm getting? It's mostly in the Settings app, I for example, uncheck/check something, it just holds for like 5 seconds and then registers my touch.

I'm not sure. I get it sometimes too, then it goes away. Something must be running in the backround. Try closing out apps in the app switcher and see if it helps.

Is the CPU load high?
Check the system load with top (command line).
Or check the current CPU frequency with an app as AnTuTu CPU Master (if you don't want to overclock by accident just deny it root rights). When doing nothing, the clock frequency should be scaled back (to 245 MHz).
Even better, this command gives an overview of the relative time the CPU runs at the different scaled clock frequencies:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state

[ROM] [MOD] >>> PAS <<< [PSN AOKP SLIM] [mini Gapps and sd-ext create] _ 30.12.2012
Hi everybody,
First of all, thanks to all the dev who have work in amount of me. All the gratifications go them.(but Thanks are welcome, and critics too ) And sorry for bad english.
Thanks to :
pidio1
lagloose and jellaxy team
psndna88
I used PSN , Aokp Jellaxy and fast slim jb. I implement a few inverted apps from here... for a light install.
Gapps are included, but minimum package. I replace GoogleNow with the awesome last update. (Always same bug with voice search, but… it’s cool at my point of view).
Android 4.2 clock
GoogleEars is present but you need to unfreeze before see and use widget, by using titanium backup for example.
Installation :
>Wipe data/factory
>Wipe cache
>Wipe dalvick cache
>>>>Install falshable zip
> Wipe data
>Wipe cache
>Wipe dalvick cache
>>>>Reboot
This will take some time but it’s for a good cause
>After the first boot, put all the sounds picker to the max.
Home Launcher is Lightning Launcher Home I was an unconditionnal user of Apex, and I find it more direct, faster.
For better personnalization and use : Nova Launcher.
> no animation
> Set your 'AS Ace' what you want.
>>>>Then reboot : sounds will be fix.
No need to flash some fix for gps, it works perfectly, like the Deepsleep, even if camera's use. But I suggest you to use gps status the first time to be sure.
I’ve delete all notifications sounds and some other files for more space. But the cyan’s notifications are all installed. After, you can install another if you want.
No bootanimation for fast boot. "Android" boot.
For best result of this fast moded rom, you can flash this PSN (don’t forget to wipe /data after, because if you make a backup and don’t, you won’t be able to restore) and AdrenalinePSN. It will install sdext mod also.
Some screenshots of battery usage in attachments
I've stop my moded 'cause I now use this awesome 4.2 from Wayland and team. But anyway thanks for your tests and supports.
Download :
> 30-12 release:
cpu changes are save at reboots
update psn files
PAS_30-12-2012
> 26-11 release:
added PSN for its better nim's kernel and create sd-ext partition, double swap, at first boot. First boot will take a moment, don't fear . "Boot time will be bit longer while swap partitions are being setup". It's for good cause
PAS_26-11-2012
> initial release:
Gmail, Google Agenda, SMS, PlayStore Inverted. Android 4.2 clock moded fully functionnal
services.jar OOM Priority Charged

have you tried to clear market data? if not work after that you can change dpi to 160 (i made it to 140).
New release... added PSN in flashable file... Don't forget to have an sd-ext4 before flash (use this, but create ext4 not not ext2). Plus, I have create a swap partition (128 mb), if you want too, make it primary too

the first boot can be long because of installation of rom and installation of psn (sdext and 2swap partitions). It can take longminutes around 10-15 mins.
I'll give this a go and report back
any feedback on a reliable phone only ask as my new born baby is in hospital so battery life and a daily driver is a must for a few weeks till he's home :good:

ROM
1st impression - decent layout things take a while to load up, titanium backup has installed every app i use no issue's
no issues with market installs fine
i need to test GPS (Endomondo tracking is my fav for cycling)
my apps via TB (titanium) installed with no reboots and move to SD which is a bonus, keep up the good work
This Rom is one of the best Jb Based i've tried..i really like the light of this rom + gapps inverted..
i found just a bug until now: I set SmartAss V2 as governor but at every reboot it doesn't save my choice and reset governor on ondemand.
I like the rom and its a good start
issue for me battery is steady but not good for me as im a heavy GPS user
my wifi is on/off very poor distance / range
i like the interface and selecting smartv2 is a lot less laggy than ondemand :good:
tried another launcher HOLO work nicely with it and installs with no issue's
keep up the good work

I'll see what I could do for better. I've tried some governor but I found than ondemand offers more battery life.
For Launcher I was addict by Apex but too lags with this rom (and some jb based, my thoughts )but lightning even if it's less customizes, is smoother. I've another which correspond more with my use, but too heavy at the moment. I'll give a test to holo, thanks, I didn't think about it from cm9
excellent look forward to the next release :good:
holo is smooth, i like the bottom line scrolling i get the idea on battery life but for me just makes the selection of apps a bit long winded
keep up the good work always appreciate a good rom build

Just one question,to be sure, have you tick the [set on boot] label under governor choice? Because i've test all since yesterday, with multiple reboots, and no change : my choices are safe for every reboot.
Ok so I am running the Vertigo PAC Rom from 16/9 and decided to visit the Hybrid Properties (Paranoid Android part)...
I changed from Stock UI to Recommended which made everything quite small in the general notification bar etc.
All very well, but when I'm on my motorbike using as a sat nav I need to see certian aspects quickly so would prefer the standard stock resolution as everything is larger.
I reverted to Stock UI but nothing changed.... strange....
I've rebooted, played around with advanced Hybrid settings, all with no change. I also used ROM Toolbox to edit the build.prop LCD section. It states it is on 480 but whatever I change it to nothing is changed (I have Root/Super User etc all permissioned).
Anyone have any ideas at all please?
I tried a Titanium Backup restore for some system settings to no avail as well

Solved - basically I played around with virtually every setting in the Hybrid screen I could come across, changing everything repeatedly and rebooting regularly, then chose the restore option a few times, eventually went to normal!
Tested on latest xiaomi.eu rom
BEFORE STARTING ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BACK UP THE FILES YOU ARE ABOUT TO EDIT
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING BAD THAT HAPPENS OKAY
I WISH THIS WERE POSSIBLE ON NON ROOTED PHONES BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND THE PAIN OF HAVING BAD MULTI TASKING
NOW LETS GO
1. Make sure phone is BL unlocked and Rooted
2. Flash latest Xiaomi.eu rom and make sure you have root (via superSU or whatever root app of your choice)
3. Install FX file explorer and FX root add on
4. Go to system/etc and find a file named mcd_default.conf
5. edit the file and delete the lines that are shown here highlighted
open image
6. Save file
7. Enable developer options
8. Find memory optimization and set to HIGH and Reboot
9. Wait for phone to boot back up
10. Go to Developer options in settings and Disable MIUI optimizations and Reboot
11. Install kernel audiotor and go to low memory killer option and select very light and enable "apply on boot"
12. Reboot
13. Go to fx file explorer and go to system/build.prop and edit the file - find the line persist.sys.whetstone.level=2 and change it to persist.sys.whetstone.level=0 and save file and reboot
14. Test it out yourself
EXPLANATION
Basically the lines that are deleted in the mcd_defaullt.conf makes sure that ALMOST ALL APPS are killed whenever you launch a system app like PHONE, MESSAGING, GALLERY. In AOSP roms this is not the behaviour, instead AOSP picks the least used app or the earliest app used to be killed when LMK (Low memory killer) values are reached. Deleting the lines brings back this AOSP behaviour. Benefit of MIUI is you can LOCK APPS IN MEMORY using the task manager/recent and now MIUI will kill the earliest used app in the recents/task manager that are NOT locked.
EXPLANATION NUMBER 2 REGARDING CHANGING LMK BEHAVIOUR USING KERNEL AUDITOR
The stock LMK values are not set by xiaomi or MIUI, instead it is automatically generated by ANY AOSP rom because it uses a ratio system. If the ram is big (like ours 3gb) than the ratio values will be higher. MIUI or Xiaomi should have fixed this but they didnt. SO PLEASE CHANGE THE LMK VALUES IN KERNEL AUDIOTOR
EXPLANATION NUMBER 3 REGARDING WHETSTONE
Don't uninstall or freeze this app. IT DOES NOT HELP OR AFFECT MULTITASKING AT ALL. DELETING IT WILL DISABLE MEMORY OPTIMIZATIONS
REMINDER
MIUI is a very RAM hungry OS so please dont expect a lot of free ram but unused ram is wasted ram anyway
Ok, first of all i just want to thx for this guide... but... it's not working.
Redmi Note 4 with MIUI EU 8.1.3.0 Stable.
I tested it for about 1day and here are my feedback:
- Phone hangs and become unresponsive quickly. I kill all apps, but still lags. If i restart the phone, then is ok for a while...but after i open again some apps, games, will die in huge lagging.
- Camera lags, google play lags, facebook lags.
- Fingerprint unlock have 1-2 sec onds delay. Never ever have this problem again.
- Battery is the same, no improvements here.
I finished after one day, restoring my backup.
I done all the steps, exactly in your way and your order. My feeling is that memory are not fully released, even if i kill all the apps.
I will test next every part in this guide, independently, to se how is doing...

- Battery is the same, no improvements here.

u have to use the latest xiaomi.eu rom
the stable 8.1.3.0 has a bug where the dev still classified the rom as having 2gb of ram only (we have 3gb variant as well) (i read this somewhere i forgot where) and the latest china dev xiaomi.eu rom has this bug fixed for our device. Try this tweak with memory optimization on LOW but remember use the LATEST xiaomi.eu rom. Phone is working wonderful on my device
also try freezing battery saver via Link2SD. This is the only other thing I have changed on my device

I use EU Stable 8.1.3.0 ROM for about a week and never had problems or any bugs. None!
I will try this again on EU Dev 6.12.15 today to see how is doing...

I just tried this just now on a clean flash of latest EU ROM
1. memory optimization on LOW
2. Use link2sd to freeze battery optimizer app
3. Delete this line from mcd_default.conf in system/etc directory https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Q4QjvbODxoS2RnRmRWTDk3TE0/view?usp=drivesdk
4. Set LMK Low Memory Killer value to medium on Kernel Auidotor
And thats it with the same result as my previous tweaks. I think this will resolve the lag that you are facing
Ignore my previous steps on this thread and follow these new ones. Good luck
