Google Map Free voice Navigation in non supported country
Must Read before install
This is same as you having stock google map application, but here in this application there won't have restriction to use navigation in certain country. (Thanx to Ownhere n Brut All)
How to Install :
First I am showing you some basic things, read it carefully to avoid installation failure
There is three types of files for installation, you have to Install any of One only,
What is difference between three?
Nothing, all are installing same application, but the method of installation is different.
Tyes :
1. No installation need
2. resigned
3. changepnp
First two types requires ROOT,
Why root is needed ?
First two types of files actually replacing stock google map, stock map is a system application, here Root is needed to uninstall stock application. System application cant be uninstall without Root
While third type don’t reuires Root
Why so? B’coz third application not replacing your stock map, when you install third type, after installation you will get double icon each for latitude, Map, place and navigation. When you have to use it for navigation to restricted country, you have to use newer application, stock application still works as it is.
Now Exact instruction for installation.
For Type 1 .
You need Root,
- Uninstall map with system appl remover or titanium backup (or whatever support syst app removal). Before un installation you need to remove cache n clear data .(setting – application – all – Map – clear cache n data)
- Uninstall street view if you have installed
- Now use root explorer, n copy file maps.apk (download type1 n rename maps.apk) and place into system/app directory
- Change permission rw r r
- Restart device
You can see map installed to your device, now you can install street view from market
For Type 2 :
You need Root,
- Uninstall map with system appl remover or titanium backup (or whatever support syst app removal). Before un installation you need to remove cache n clear data .(setting – application – all – Map – clear cache n data)
- Uninstall street view if you have installed
- Now you can install map.resigned.apk as routine way you install other applications.
If you get error application not install, then install it from market, repeat all steps mentioned above. Many time it may need to clear cache 1-2 time
For type 3 :
Easiest, nothing technique requires, just install map.changepnp.apk as routine application and you are ready to Navigate..
For Type 4
Copy file to SD card, and flash with CWM, Dont use stock recovery. as well must be on safe kernel
Note : In case of type 1 n 2, you will still gets update from market when newer version released, If you update it, World navigation. will be lost.
This Navigations requires active data connection.Yes U can pre cache map area with wifi before travelling to reduce data consumption but still it need data connection.
Download :
Type 1 - Map 6.14.1 - Mirror - Mirror2
Type 2 - Map 6.14.1 - Mirror - Mirror2
Type 3 - Map 6.5.0
Type 4 : 6.14.1 Flashable zip - flash with recovery(must be on safe kernel) - Mirror - Mirror2 - Mirror 3
Combo Download
Type 1-4 (version as above)
I am planning a trip to india soon. This would be helpful
Didn't Worked for. i followed step 3 coz i havnt Rooted my phone. After installation of 3rd file i opened Google Navigation. it says as usual "Google Maps Navigation not yet available in this location" .
You might seen other 4 short cut, lattitude, maps, navigation n place. You may have selected older one, click new installed navigation, both looks similiar

I bought one from local carrier Etisalat, it has all the features working except the most wanted one "Market". I tried many ways to enable it but no success. Finally I am able to install the Market and can open it after some errors. But now once I select any app to install it shows downloading and then shows error in notification area "Download was unsuccessful, please try again". Please guys help me out of this issue.
Not sure if it will do any good. But try the market enabler. Maybe faking your carrier will help.
I tried this but this also needs a proper working market application.
In my case the app is not working properly.

Hey, mind me asking you which method did you use to get market? I'm not haveing any issues with market on my tab or desire

I followed this blog methods:
"[How-To] Enable Android Market
SOLUTION 1
First option is by changing the region.
In the dialer do:
*#272*YOUR_IMEI#
This will bring up a little menu. Select XSG, install and you are ready to go.
!!!!Be warned though, this will do a factory reset and you will lose your apps and stuff.
!!!!If your going to try, backup everything.
Thanks Ayman07
SOLUTION 2
Procedure :
Install a file manager like.Estrongs or Astro from here:
Transfer it with bluetooth or USB to your phone and install.
After installing the File manager.
1. Go to internal memory root
2. navigate to /system/app
3. Locate Vending.apk
4. push on it to install it
It may force close the first time you run it but the second time it should work.
If you still encounter Force Close or download issues, do the following ( you might want to do it anyway as it is sometimes better to start with a clean slate)
1. Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
2. Chose All
3. Find Market
4. Push on it and select Clear data
P.S (you might want to use the attached Vending.apk if the one that is on Galaxy Tab fails)
"
First procedure was not working and then tried 2nd one, Market get installed but not able to install any application. Always getting download unsuccessful error.

now if you want arabic support as well, your going to need to flash the software to the newer UAE one which also has the Android Market
I am in Jordan.
I tried XSG and still have only free apps. I dont have KEN either.
I tried KSA , the Market icon went off... so I am back to XSG but still no paid Apps. just the free ones.
Any suggestions?

P.S. Market Enabler did not work as well.
Market Enabler works only if you have rooted your device.

Thanks for your reply... I did install z4root and I had 2 options, permanent and temp. root.. I did the permanent root and tried market enabler (it keeps on saying: Huston, we've got a problem) then tried the temp. root and the same message appears.
When I used the *#272* method, I am currently on XSG and when I've connected my TAB to my PC it prompted me that there is an update, so I updated it and dont have a clue if my device is still rooted or not but yet again, market enabler is not working.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi All,
There are already threads for this problem, but all possible solutions are not working
My apps are not showing anymore in Market.
Clear cache is not working
Clear cache and reboot is not working
Clear cache foreclose and reboot is not working
Market dokter Titanium does not work
I always get a agreement of de market but again my apps are empty.
Did a full wipe and reinstalled ARHD 6.3.2 then restoren my apps by Titanium
A see all the Apps in my Apps, but again later on... everything is empty
Somebody have same issues?
Cheers,
Peter
If you find an app you have purchased before, does it allow you to install it? Or does it say its "incompatible" with your device?
It is allowed to download it and install it. And i have no new phone... so maybe my account is corrupt at Google side?
Try the following, if you have superuser permissions.
In the file /system/build.prop find the line starting with ru.build.fingerprint, and replace symbols JFM to JJ7
If this not works, in the same file find the option ro.sf.lcd_density=167 and change 167 to 160. You may set another value, eg. 240.
After saving the changes you should reboot.

My ro.build.fingerprint is like:
ro.build.fingerprint=htc_wwe/htc_ace/ace:2.3.5/GRJ90/$:user/release-keys
Do i replace GRJ90 then?
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 this is my line
Have change this things but did not work.
clear cache did also not work again...

Better first try to change LCD density to 160. I'm not sure about fingerprint in non-Russian roms
Btw, are the permissions for build.prop set correctly after making changes?

I use a build.prop editor this saves the file and correct the permissions.
Even uninstalled the market update did not work
IT is working again:
unimstalled the update of market
Clean data from google services framework.
Then force close
Clean data of market
Then force close
Reboot
Now it seems to work....
After update of market app the problem is back. Now i try the same steps as above...
After the steps above without remove market update i got my list back...
But after a change from portrait to landscape the list is gone again....
Seems like Google developers "fixed" something again. Try to ask their support
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I discover it was a App problem. When i did a full restore of Titanium the problem was there... When i did every time 5 apps restore i use for long time the problem was gone...
I do not know that app gives this error.. because i delete all other apps what i think it was the problem and even do not use them anymore as well..
It is a update of something .. so my problem is solved.
Also, Market Fixer can help to solve the problem. Root required!
Market fixer did not work... have try that already.. but it is solved now...
Official fix for me...
Requirements:
Market Fixer app installed
Faith and patience
Intructions:
1) go to manage applications in your settings, tap view all and force close "Market" (don't delete any data)
2) while still there, also delete "Google Services Framework"'s data and force close it
3) run "Market Fixer", tap analyse market links, select all of them and tap remove market links ONLY
4) go to "My Apps" inside Android Market and make sure there's a Retry button on the screen telling you it couldn't communicate with the server, if there isn't, repeat step 2 and re-check
5) re-run "Market Fixer" to be sure the links didn't get recreated, and if none appear, reboot
6) go to "My Apps" as soon as you boot completely
7) if previously bought apps appear on the list, go to the free apps category and install a new one (this will recreate your market's database with working information)
8) check "My Apps" one last time, all apps should be there now
9) if you want, reboot once more and go to "My Apps" again to make sure everything's in working order with your "My Apps" list
10) dance the macarena, shoot a few hoops or just enjoy your victory like i did
11) make sure you don't re-link those evil apps to your market so you don't have to redo all of this
***As you could've noticed, the idea behind the first five steps is to keep the market from recreating the links or having to clear the data for Google Services Framework many times (both happen when the market's still running in background).***
On my triple boot card I have Google Eart and Maps on both the CM7 and the CM 9.
On the CM 7 It works ok and updates load and install flawless.
On the CM9 Earth and Maps are pre installed.
Earth just does not work. I can load the update and install it but when I start up It tells me that it unfortunally stops.
The installed Maps version works ok, but the update won't install.
It says some signature is missing and tells to uninstall maps and reinstal.
I think that I need to uninstall Google Earth and Maps and than reinstall.
But the problem is, that I see no way to uninstall the preinstalled apps, because they are part of the system.
Thanks for any answer.

You can manually remove them with root explorer, but the best way is to use Titanium Backup. Or with CM9, you can use settings to disable system apps, which they are.
thanks again for your reply.
I downloaded root explorer but did nothing with it, It was too overwhelming for me to find out what to do.
I did try to download the free Titanium Backup but I got the message "error processing purchase [DF-BPA-09]
I was able to download the payd Keyapp, but this won't work without the free Titanium app.
In my CM9 Settings part there is no possibillity to disable system apps.
A lot off the free apps that I try to download stop installing with "error processing purchase [DF-BPA-09]
This is all in CM 9.
In CM 7 everything works okay.
Any idea what's wrong??

In CM9 go to settings, apps, all apps tab, scroll to the system app you want and open it. There should be a disable button there. Once you select that it is not active anymore. If you want to re-enable you do the same thing and then hit enable.
Thanks for your answer.
I could disable the app in this way.
What I hoped was that I could remove it and load the app from the appstore.(that is not gone work)
So this does not really solve the problem.
I am able to ues earth on CM7.
So I will install the apps, that won't install on CM9, on CM7.
No further messing around.
Thanks for your time and expertise.

Google Search 2.6 works on Kitkat but first you have to uninstall the new version. The reason why it can activate Google Now as opposed to the newer versions is because it does not check the location settings.
I wonder if anyone figured how to get Google Now back so far.

I had the same issue since updated my N4 to 4.4 via official factory image.
Here's my solution but requires ROOT!
1) If you're using new GE launcher (it's integrated with Google Search app), uninstall it and choose default N4 Android 4.4 launcher.
2) Clear data and cache for currently installed Google Search app and uninstall updates, it should revert back to 3.0 version.
3) Download Google Search 2.6.7 here. Rename it to velvet.apk DO NOT INSTALL!
4) Open your favorite file manager with root option (I use Solid Explorer). Navigate to root/data/dalvik-cache and delete [email protected]@[email protected]
5) Navigate to root/system/priv-app, firstly backup velvet.apk and then delete it.
6) Copy velvet.apk file that you just downloaded and renamed to the same directory root/system/priv-app and change permission to 644.
7) Reboot device
8) Open Google Search app Google now opt-in options will appear, agree and go on.
9) Open Play Store and update Google Search to lastest 3.1 version.
10) Again navigate to root/system/priv-app and restore system original velvet.apk which you just backed up. It is important because when new OTA arrives for yoiur device it will check all root/system/ directory for any changes. OTA update will fail if it detects that user changed system files.
11) Reboot device once again
Google now should work without problem. Also now you can install new GEL, it should work with new Google now features including dedicated left panel on home screen.
I appreciate your effort, but it is not really a solution: nobody should be forced to root their device to get back some functionality, which was accessible before the upgrade.
off course not. But it's best way to fix this issue if you already rooted your device for some other purposes.
I was seeking for solution since updated to 4.4 for 2 days. Tried different methods, with and without root but nothing helped.
It seems like users should wait Google's response for this issue to get a fix.

I have the Nexus 4 and the OTA 4.4 + factory reset - same problem, also no KitKat launcher
Hello everyone! I have a Blaupunkt Cape Town 940 US android head unit. So far I love it! But...
I am having issues adding/flashing Google Apps to it. It is rooted, and like the title says it is 4.1.1. I can't seem to get the unit to go into recovery, if there is one built into it. I can flash a map update to it from the right side micro SD slot by hitting 'power' and 'home' at the same time from the off position. When I try to flash the 'gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip' to it by the same method, it just errors out and never gives me the option to flash a zip, reboot or anything you would normally see from a flash recovery.
Some of the .apk's in the above zip can be installed and other cannot. I can get the play store to install, but not the services or framework, or anything else from the zip for that matter - I get a parse error. The play store just says it can't connect to the server and has a retry button. It does have a connection to the internet. I can install other 3rd party apps by navigating to the apk from the stock file manager.
Can anyone elaborate on how to flash GApps to this unit, or how to side-load them with the apk's? There is not much info on the net for this unit. I am close but can't figure it out.
Thanks everyone!

I ran to the same problems couple of days ago of trying to install Gapps into my unbranded chinese headunit and figured it out last night how to get Gapps installed. My recommendation for you is as following (Require root access)
1. Go online and search for google installer.apk and system app mover.apk and install both into your headunit
2. Run google installer and look for google play (it's in chinese but you should be able to figure it out by the icon)
3. Click on google play and it should prompts you to install other 4 related google app as well ie. Google framework etc.
4. Once you have all those installed, run system app mover. (This is where you require root access)
5. Search for those 4 related google app that you just installed and move them to system (You have to be clicking on the app and move them one by one)
6. Reboot and you should have google app installed. (The version is quite old but it'll update by itself with the newest version)
Cheers

Hmm, this seems a little risky. Is there an English version of this process? Any other ideas? Thanks boyito!!
easiest way to install google services to the 940 is to send email to Blaupunkt support. They can send you a apk that will install the services. It is not supported but will load without any other things to do. I used it and have had all google's services including email, maps, store and more with no problem.

This apk worked for me, thanks again fordborn!!
Hey guys... I downloaded this apk as well but cannot get it to work. The ReadMe!! says to root the device but when following the instructions I cannot find where it is saying to click "touch 6x OS Version". When installing the apk it installs fine but when I open it, it just says reboot when finished but then goes away and never actually installs anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you seen thre "read me" text?

Excuse me for my bad english but i've got the same problem. In fact, when i unzipped the file, i did not see the file text which was joined:
Please note that you install and apply root on your own risk.
Please copy GSINSTALLER.APK to an USB kay and follow this steps:
1: ROOT device: SYSTEM SETTINNGS -> SOFTWARE VERSION -> touch 6x OS VERSION -> new point DEVELOPER OPTIONS will appear -> select ROOT and confirm it.
2: Install PLAYSTORE: Open APPS -> open FILE EXPLORER -> select EXTERNAL USB -> look for GSINSTALLER.APK and install it -> ACCEPT SUPER USER request -> ACCEPT the UNINSTALL request.
I don't realy understand the final step (accept the uninstall request?) but, after a final shut-off, i've got Google Play on my Cape Town 945
It Worked!

Thanks for the reply. I did see the readme but didn't realize that "touch 6x OS VERSION" meant to actually press OS VERSION 6 times. I'm a little slow sometimes. Anyway I just tried it again and it worked perfectly. Works great!

nobody's perfect I did'nt see the readme.txt at the beginning! Now, i try to install TomTom but it seems to be a problem of compatibility
Anyone using other Bluetooth devices rather than phones? I tried to connect OBDII scanner to my unit but it failed to pair, just like that = "Pairing Failed" message. Have a theory that the unit may have a limitation - to connect only the BT devices with phone/sound services. I was going to use lots of other yummies - BT tyre pressure app, BT front camera, but now I'm not sure...
Hi... This unit does not have the Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) so it cannot be used with an OBD2 interface to display OBD apps on-screen (Torque, Dashcommand, etc).
Hello, any of people that added gapps installed also google maps? I have tried to install them from the store, and they run very slow. I have installed the older version also and it runs smoothly, but just after update they are slowing badly...

Just google Maps_6.14.4.apk and before install disable the automatic update function in play store.
Workked for me too
Thanks fordborn,
Your apk download and instructions worked for me as well. I just put google maps on the unit with almost no trouble.
