I rooted my phone today. And everything was great.
I installed Clockwork. And applied CM 7.
I of course backed up my previous rom and everything was going smoothly until everything was completed.
My phone boot up as normal and then it got stuck in the CM logo.(now when I see a blue android skating I might puke)
So I tried to restore my previous rom but clockwork is defective. I selected 'backup and restore' and then nothing shows up in the screen..
Is there anything I can do to fix my phone?
I love this phone so much I really wanna fix it.
Any ideas?
since you are rooted, download the CM7 rom again (zip file) and put it on your SD card, then flash it from the recovery
Do all your flashing and backups from recovery, not from rom manager. You can confirm your backup exists by going to sdcard/clockworkmod/backups. If you did your original backup through rom manager, there's a good chance it's corrupted. Reflash cm7 from recovery if you can't restore your backup.

I'm having basically the same problem. I just downloaded the cyanogenmod rom and put it on my sd card but I'm not sure how to flash it. Do i keep it as a zip and install it using the install update.zip thing? cause that gave me an error. Or do i extract it and put it in my backup folder and try to flash it using the restore option? Or is there some other option Im missing?
Thanks in advance
Ah ok I figured it out, I was trying to use the .zip for the a different model phone. I got it all working, thanks for the help guys!
hello,
i rooted my Huawei and then used Root Tools to flash a font on it (don't remember which one it was).
Now my device seems to start, the hard buttons light up, but i get an infinite boot loop!
i can get into recovery, but i don't know how to get into fastboot.
I have already done a factory reset via recovery, but it keeps happening.
can anyone help me?
EDIT: also, since i cant get into the phone, i can't enable usb debugging to get to adb either... is there any way to force this or something?
Have you tried to wipe all phone-data and flash it with a rom?
Yeah, i've tried the flash all in recovery. i want the stock ROM though, do you have an update.zip for that? i'm pretty sure i can borrow a microSD card and put it on there.

So does it work with the rom you tried?
You can find the stock-rom on the huawei-device webpage if you haven't done a backup..

well, i'd want it to be as stock as possible, in case it needs to go to service once... but as for the stock rom, is that the kernel-2.6.32-U8800-Froyo file on huaweis website? should i just rename that to update.zip and use it?
EDIT: i saw your edit now, when i have downloaded the right .zip file(in this case the norway retail one), i'm going to rename that to be update.zip and upgrade with it, am i right?
EDIT2: okay, i'm just going to follow the instructions in the zip folder one final question: how do i check my build number?
yes you can rename it, but it's not even necessary because you can choose the file (rom) you want to install later in perfect recovery. Or are you using something else then perfect recovery?
I have no idea about the instructions in the zip folder, because i haven't installed any stock roms on my phone, and can't understand what you need the build number for?
I suggest you to try to install that stock rom because you have nothing to lose and it's easy to wipe data again and try with other roms again..

Thanks! i downloaded the corresponding zip file for my carrier, unzipped, and just followed the instructions in the pdf file
The phone works great now! i am very happy now
This happened to me this morning!! Is there anyway to fix this in Recovery mode by mounting /system or something and rename the backup of the font back?
I don't want to delete everything off the phone! I have been customizing it for the past 2 or 3 weeks.. and was getting it exactly how I wanted it.. Don't want to do it all over again
EDIT: PHEW.. I fixed it. All you have to do is rename every font back to how it was originally (hope you have a backup) and set the permissions back to how they were originally CHMOD 644
If you need more help let me know, tell me which OS you have.. if you have Ubuntu / Linux I can help you.. no problem, as for windows.. I don't know
for windows the procedure is pretty much the same, i guess you used adb
That is what I love about ubuntu.. no I did not have to use adb. It automatically mounted the drives when I booted in recovery mode, then browsed system partition as root user (using natalius script.. or you can use a terminal) then set the permissions of the fonts to 644, make sure all the fonts are named exactly (CASE SENSITIVE).
Reboot and it will work.
Hi!, how i can revert, all changes and return back to my stock rom&kernel. After that, i will unroot my phone. Are there a way to do that easily?

Yes, but then you won't have the stock recovery. It also won't be 'stock' because it has probably been rooted and apps removed etc.

It's unrooted if you restore a backup before you rooted your device.
Here's the thing. I want to go back to the stock ROM but I didn't do a nandroid backup. Stupid of me, I know. Anyway, I got from a friend the stock recovery.img(3.0.2.8) and also the stock ROM (U8800V100R001C00B135SP02(WIND-HELLAS)). It is a greek ROM. I applied the recovery.img and now I'm downgraded to 3.0.2.8 from 4.0.0.5. Then, I booted in clockworkmod and tried to apply the stock ROM's .zip . However, I get "Installation aborted" message all the time. I cannot understand where I'm wrong. Maybe someone that did return to stock ROM can help me out here.
edit: Sanpsa, you said that someone should follow the instructions of the extracted files. You mean "UPDATE.APP" and "UPDATE_CUST.APP" files? In my stock ROM with these files you can upgrade the ROM. Is it necessary to upgrade the ROM and then apply the .zip? I don't get it...

If you want the stock Rom back, follow these exact steps:
1 - Go into the Bootloader (pink screen), put the recovery 4.0.0.5 back.
2 - Take out the battery to exit Bootloader (pink screen)
3 - Press Vol+ and Power until you boot into Recovery.
4 - In Recovery go to Mounts and Storage, connect the USB cable and select the last option Mount External Storage (SD Card)
5 - Use the computer to explore the SD card now, Create a folder called "dload" and put both files "update.app" and "update_cust.app" inside the folder.
6 - Disconnect the cable and select the option Power off.
7 - Once the phone is switched off, press VOL+, VOL- and POWER together for 5 seconds.
8 - This should start the automatic installation and you will have your stock Rom back in 5 minutes.
Cheers

These files are not present in the (U8800V100R001C00B135SP02(WIND-HELLAS)) ROM. Only in "overseas". So, I cannot proceed.

Strange, as all stock Roms come as zip archive with these 2 files inside. Are you sure that's a stock Rom?
Did you actually unzip the U8800V100R001C00B135SP02(WIND-HELLAS).zip ?
To give you an idea...
I did these exact steps
1. Installed recovery 4.0.0.5
2. Copy/paste the images ".android_secure", "cache", "cust", "data", "system" and "nandroid.md5" from (U8800V100R001C00B135SP02(WIND-HELLAS)) ROM to mnt\sdcard\
3. Booted in recovery
4. "Backup and restore"-->"restore"
So, into "restore" there is only one backup file from a previous ROM, which btw I don't know how to get rid of it because I don't need it anymore. I can't find any "delete" selection or something.
edit: Yes, I did unzip it. This stock ROM was uploaded by a fellow Greek to provide assistance in such situations. Nobody else complained about his upload for not working.
edit2: I found how to delete backups!
SOLVED!!!
I just pasted the ".android_secure", "cache", "cust", "data", "system" and "nandroid.md5" files into /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ and did a restore one by one. AT LAST!!!
Warranty is on...again!

FYI, what you have is not the stock rom, rather a nandroid backup of the (presumably) stock rom..
thats why the steps to restore are totally different in these 2 cases..
anyway glad that u got it sorted out..

No what he means is that you didn't install a new Rom, you just did a restore from a backup...Which is a totally different process altogether and that's why my instructions were not what you needed.

OK. Got it now!
If u restore a backup from recovery to stock rom, then u still have the custom recovery. I you worry about warranties, then you should also go back to stock recovery. Easiest way to do this is to flash any official rom, these restore the stock recovery also.
Like said, these .zips with the two .app files cant be flashed from any recovery.
Hello,
I've an Huawei u8800 and i think I will install an unofficial ROM. Now I have the last (Beta?) Huawei GB ROM and i will try the dzo ICS ROM..
I've never done it before. Could someone help with a step by step solution (I don't want to loose contacts or messages and other apps data. I have titanium backup but last time I've upgrade the official ROM I had problems restoring system data)
I am worried about IMEI and WiFi Mac address loss reported problems too ..
Thanks!

Check "Root, Install ClockworkMod + Remove Bundled Apps from Official 2.3.5 by That-guy" link in my signature. It has guide to install clockworkmod, which you will use to install roms.
The only way (I think) is to backup those infos with titanium. I do not recommend it, because it might cause force closes in ICS if you restore them. After making backups and putting ICS zip to sdcard, reboot to recovery. You do this by booting phone while holding volume +.
Choose backup & restore and backup in there. Then do factory reset and then go advanced -> wipe dalvik
After it choose: install zip from sdcard and choose zip from sdcard from there.
Now navigate to ICS .zip file and choose it. Now choose reboot to system. It should start loading ICS now.
Just one question: i'm with elite .32. Do i need to downgrade to froyo before the instalation of the official beta update?

This is a bit like topic hijack. You dont have to. It is recommended by huawei to do so, but im dont think it matters. If you have time and official 2.2 files somewhere, just do install it. It wont hurt.

It doesn't create a backup of imei. I have a link to full phone backup in my signature too. it requires a linux pc and unlocked bootloader. You can check is your unlocked by booting to pinkscreen and plugging the phone to pc. If pc can use phones memory, bootloader is unlocked. If it's not, there is a link (again) in my signature. Its called "[TUT] Get back our PINK screen!"

Hello guys, first of all im using a Huawei P8 Lite ALE-21 [EU] , i wanted to hard reset my phone through TWRP and i accidentaly deleted everything!
Also in the log/terminal thing in TWRP i get messages that it can't mounth system, /data and storage.
I Tried to download a rom but it failed, can someone please help me? Im not good at this stuff and i need my phone to be fixed ASAP because i need it!
PS: I Know i shouldn't press buttons i don't know what they do but yeah... Lesson learned.
PS 2 : I Can get into recovery mode and use ADB.
EDIT: I fixed it by pushing the stock rom into my storage and then installed it via TWRP, glad i had twrp and usb debugging enabled.
Your things you've deleted are gone, there is no way to get them back.
In order to get the phone boot up again follow these:
Take a look at THIS page, it will tell you how to extract the UPDATE.APP to individual pieces that can be flashed via fastboot.
Use your original ROM's UPDATE.APP file, to make sure it'll work.
I guess you'll still want to use TWRP, then leave out the RECOVERY.IMG from the extraction, and only flash BOOT, CUST and SYSTEM.
You can learn how to do the flashing properly HERE.
If you have any more question, make sure to ask them
