[Q] How do I install Winamp - Kindle Fire General

trying to get winamp installed in my rooted device - I don't live in the States so amazon store wont work and doesn't show up on android marketplace. any ideas?? tried, side loading from couple of downloads from the net but the installer wont finish.

Here is the .apk right from the Market, try that out.

Thanks for the apk - I can download and run the installer but it returns back with an message that the application was not installed.

I had the same problem with Winamp, but I managed to install it.
You can check the following thread for the solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434809

If you cant get winamp to run, try poweramp
its by far the best music player for android
winamp is really lacking on android imo

See my YouTube-related articles in the general forum. You do NOT need any MIDLet support to play back YouTube videos.

flash 10.1

i believe it hit the market place recently, but it is only for 2.2
there is a workaround supposedly that allows you to download a recompiled apk and have it overwrite the flash lite that is on the evo.
http://www.machackpc.com/featured/how-to-get-flash-10-1-on-htc-evo-4g-without-installing-froyo/
i have tried this though, and it does not work. it installs fine, overwrites, and upon visiting youtube via opera browser, it even asks if i want to view the content with "htc flash player" but when the player opens, the videos will not play
figured i'd give anyone looking to try it the heads up.

[Q] Music cant be recognized

just installed HyperDroid 1.6 on my HD2. Smooth install but now the music player wont recognize my music files. opened file explorer and tried to manually launch them and it says the file type is not recognized (.mp3). Any help? Comments? All greatly appreciated, thanks.
I had the same problem (kinda), got a bunch of music in .flac format, but the thing refused to play them (even though the ROM I was using supports it)
I solved it by re-installing the ROM (deleting android folder and copying new)
Or if you don't want to do that you can install an app called "meridian media player" from the android market, it should allow you to play the music.
P.S. I'm using this as my android ROM
Meh, will try the bone stock cyanogen one you linked me. Really like the one i have, seems to have a larger resolution and is a lot smoother. Is the one you linked similar?

[Q] Adobe Flash for HD2 and Android?

I have done a little bit of searching... the most recent threads that came up in my search were over 1 year old. Yeah, I'm late to the party as usual.
Is there a solution to the HD2 and Flash problem?
If I use the browser included in CM7, I get a prompt to update my flash player. Same goes for Dolphin Mini. But, when I attempt to get the flash player from the Play store, the app is incompatibe with the device, so I can't download it.
Thanks.
Adobe Flash Player, if I remember correctly, is suppose to be compatible with Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and ICS. Now Froyo probably is only compatible with a little older version like Adobe Flash player 9 or 10 not sure exactly. But all you should have to do is download it from the Play Store. That is sort of odd it is giving you trouble. What is the exact software specs you have right now with the Android ROM or SD build you are using, oh andolease specify if it is NAND or SD card.
Edit: Also Adobe Flash Player is suppose to work with the defualt Android browser.
I am using CyanogenMod 7.2 HTC Leo 030812 on the SD card, Android version 2.3.7
When I try to use the browser that is part of CM7.2, I get a message to update Flash. Clicking the link takes me to the Play Store, and then I get a message that it is not compatible with my device.
The same thing happens if I try to use Dolphin Mini- I get a message to update the Flash Plugin, I end up at the Play Store with the same message- incompatible device.
I have been able to update Flash on my HTC Amaze without issue at the Play Store.
When I check "My Devices" from my PC at the Play Store, HTC HD2 shows up, but because it never ran Android natively, is this preventing a download?
Edit: Flash on the Amaze, version 11.1.111.8, is in the internal memory and I can't send it to the SD card... there goes that idea.
Try going to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications. Find the Play Store and click on it, then click on clear data. This should solve your problem.
I have tried searching for "adobe" and "adobe flash" at the Play Store, and I'll be damned if it comes up. I get >6k results, but only can scroll through a screen of them...
Now, it seems that the radio connection is spotty. The cellular and WiFi icons go from green to white, but I seem to have no signal. I have 2.15.50.14 listed in Baseband... The HD2 is about 2' from the wireless router.
When this thing works, it is nice.
Edit: I did follow the instructions above.
I just went to the Play Store from this PC, and Adobe Flash Player shows up first in a search. It is listed as already installed for the HTC Amaze and incompatible for the HD2. Maybe Flash does not show up in a search from the HD2 because it is coming up incompatible...
You can download from google play store
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium

How?
Adobe Flash does not show up in a Play Store search using the HD2, the only Adobe product that shows up is Air. There are >1k search results that I can't seem to access from the phone.
Adobe Flash DOES show up in a Play Store search using my HTC Amaze. This app is in the phone memory, and if it is possible to get it out, I do not know how to do so.
Adobe Flash also shows up in a Play Store search from my home Windows PC, and it shows up as "already installed" and "not compatible with some of your devices". There is no download or send to link for the HTC HD2.
Attempting a Flash update using an Adobe link while using the HTC HD2 also gives a "not compatibe" message after I am redirected to the Play Store.
So, if it can be downloaded using the HD2 or saved to PC memory and put on an SD card and rooted into the phone somehow, please enlighten me.
I would suggest you Google Adobe Flash Player apk download andyou should've able to find some place to download the apk file and then install it.
Cool, that did the trick.

[Q] Adding browser back to [or fixing] a rooted Nook Simple Touch

Sorry for the total noob question, but here goes. I have rooted my NST, using the following instructions: http://tinymicros.com/wiki/NOOK_Simple_Touch_%28NST%29_Rooting_For_Practiscore Forgive the external link, I just wanted to be clear on where I am at.
If this isn't acceptable, apparently the source of the info is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346748 and I used the "the 'Normal + Xorzone's mods + adb Wifi' build "
Practiscore works flawlessly and my nook does what I need it to do. Now I have been thinking that it would be cool to be able to surf the web or at least be able to use the internet over wifi to load apps without having to load it on the SD card manually.
Right now, when I open the browser, it will actually open www.google.com when I set it to the home page but then crash whenever I try to do anything - even just clicking on the search box. The fact that it will actually open google, tells me my connection is working, but either the root process broke the browser, or something else is wrong. I can also open the market and get it to show me some apps, but it won't let me search or surf to any app. Searching just hangs and displays nothing.
I've tried searching but I haven't had any luck in picking the proper search terms to get an answer, and for some reason there is a script running wild on this page that refreshes it every 2 seconds interrupting what I am doing. That problem is probably on my PC, but firefox is what I have.
Ok, I got some things to install by d/l'ing the APK's directly to the SD card on a PC. I still haven't gotten the app store to work, or google.
The app store search will not work on your nook touch, the only way to install apps are either sideloading them or installing them wirelessly using google play on your computer.
You may want to use Opera Mobile instead of the basic browser, it would be easier than getting the stock one working.

Ok, this thing is just not working, everything I try in the market or using the browser just crashes. I downloaded the opera mini, but I didn't get an apk, so I have no idea how to install the extracted files. Most of the apk's I have found to put on here don't work either and just crash. I cant even get hangman or a crossword to load for pete's sake...
Did you root it to run Practiscore on?
If not, I'd suggest restoring your backup, upgrading to 1.2.1 firmware, then using NookManager with NTGAppsAttack (see the Nook Touch Android Development Forum here on xda). That worked just fine for me. But I don't need to run Practiscore.

Yes, the link in the OP was what I used.
1. NTGAppsAttack - working google play
2. use SeachMarket.apk to look for APK's in Google play.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38323047&postcount=6
3. Use Opera Mobile instead of Mini.
4. To manually install .apk (without using ADB)
- put it on your uSD.
- open it using Relaunch or any other file browser that you use.

You sir are a genius. The searchmarket and Opera mobile WORK!!
Now all I have to figure out is how to get rid of those extra apps [that suck and don't work]
Oh and maybe a pdf reader that works...
..and is the screen supposed to go all wonky for a second whenever I do anything? Or is there a new video driver?
