What ROM/Kernel are you running? Any cases or covers on your phone? When did the problem first start happening?

I'm using the ics beta ROM with it's stock kernal. I have a tpu fusion case which I've always had on my phone with no problems. the calling volume problem started rather recently. I've tried backing up to older roms and the problem Is still there. I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue

Older backups of the ICS beta, or older backups of completely different ROMS? Because given that the ICS ROM is very much still in beta stages, I think it's a safe bet that the problem lies with the ROM if that's the case. But if you're trying different ROMs and the problem persists, I think it unfortunately points to a hardware issue.

Similar Issue
I have a MyTouch 4G with a back and sides only case
I am running creamed glacier 7.1, I have tried it with the bundled kernel as well as the virtuosso ICS beta kernel and the Darkside 13.2 kernel from the creamed glacier thread. I have also tried the test 200 version of creamed glacier.
Sounds from my end come through very quietly; not muted or garbled in anyway just unbearably quiet when I speak normally.
Since multiupload is down, creamed glacier is the only ICS rom I have been able to download and try.
I would like to know which part of a custom rom controls the microphone, and if anyone knows what I should try to fix the problem.

It's a known hardware issue for every ICS rom on this forum. Please read the OP of the ROM's thread when experiencing issues. also for ROM's you can dl them from ROM manager or for Virtuous you can download them from their website (virtuousrom.com)

Assuming you mean the ICS Beta Rom "Creamed Glacier" (They ALL are Beta Stage, By the way) then the kernels included have a mic issue known. On page# 311 of the forum right now, about halfway down, is a link to a kernel that should fix the issue. A few people have tested/confirmed it works. Hope this helps, thank if it does!
EDIT: I meant page 311 of the Creamed Glacier Forum, sorry if that wasn't obvious lol

if you are talking about comb_kernel_WOB.zip, that did not help for me despite working for others. If you're talking about a different kernel, Dwill, I'm not finding it unfortunately.

that's the one I was talking about. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, I just noticed it earlier and thought it'd be worth a shot. Sorry it didn't help.

I'm sure the devs will figure it out eventually. I just hope they are paying attention that the suggested kernels are not working for everyone.

I think its kernel related because if you turn call volume up they can hear you a little better, but if call volume is low they cant hardly hear you at all.

[Q] Any ROM with normal sound volume?

I've tried three or four Android ROMs and they all have incredibly loud in-call volume. Hoping one of you guys can recommend a ROM that works properly and fulfills its primary function as a phone. It's frustrating to see so much effort being put into fixing things like blurry MMS and LED notifications when the basic function as a usable phone that doesn't blast your eardrum to smithereens is overlooked.
/rant
Thanks!
Odd. Usually people complain about the low in-call volume on phone's. Here is the complete opposite. I would choose loud over too low any time

x3, I thought I was going deaf when I first switched to using these roms.
Seems like you're a sense junkie, but if you can live without sense, I'm using cmn 2.0 by ocm and it seems okay. Also, most the gingerbread roms seemed fine, although those come with their own batch of problems.

Sense 3.5 Radio

I'm not able to post in the dev section yet, but I noticed a couple other people having the same problem and I wasn't able to find a response. I'm running TDJ's darkside sense 3.5 rom and I have tried the beatmod bliss rom as well, but in both I am having wifi issues. I searched and couldn't find a response. I wasn't sure if it was radio issue and there is one that is recommended to run with sense 3.5 or if there is a fix out there. Every ten minutes or so it will lose connection to my wifi at home. I verified that the wifi is set to never disconnect and haven't had any issues with any aosp or sense 3.0 roms. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You must be having hardware problems or router issues. I'm on tdjs latest 3.5 and I have no problems with wifi. Nice and strong.
Go to your wifi settings and make sure sleep is set to never and performance is checked.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
I have both never checked for sleep and best wifi performance. I was running TDJ's MIUI rom and didn't have any issues and my wife's mytouch 3g slide is on a stock rom and doesn't lose signal either. When I searched the thread for his sense 3.5 rom I saw one other person describing the same issue I'm having. Not sure what is going on.
Have you tried reseting your router?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Tried that too. I'm thinking I might try flashing a different radio. I'm running the most recent but I know that TDJ suggests using panache radio with miui. Not sure if it will fix anything.

yes, try the panache radio. i've gotten VERY good results.
I flashed the panache radio and I'm still having the same issue. I guess it must be something else. Gonna try another route.....

I'll write it again (and again, and again...) :
Radio has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with WiFi.
WiFi is completely under kernel control. It's NOT in the radio, neither HW- nor SW-wise.

Camera Problem

So, every time I try a new ROM my camera photos come out half black or completely black but mostly the former. This occurs on every kernel (cynagenmod, tiamat, rcmix, etc.) I try except thederekjay's kernels. My solution has become to simply flash his kernels onto any ROM I use but I would really like to start using the kernels the ROMs come with. I've tried wiping cache and dalvik cache and fixing permissions but nothing helps. Any thoughts?
Do you wipe the system partition between rom flashes?

Sorry I forgot to mention that. I use 4ext touch and I always use the wipe all but sdcard option. I never have just simply flashed over another rom even if its just an update. I've also tried flashing with formatting my sdcard too and that didn't help. Thanks for responding.

Hmm.... Man, I dunno what would even cause that. I've never once run into this issue. Have you tried different cameras?
I've tried a couple but it still doesn't make a difference. As far as I can tell its something with kernels on my phone. I've searched but haven't read or come across anything like what I'm experiencing. I know a lot of stuff depends on each persons phone. Maybe my phone just hates kernels lol. I appreciate trying to help.

Not that I've seen. Again the problem happens whenever I flash a rom with a kernel aside from tdj's kernels. If there was something in or on the lens I assume flashing tdj's kernels wouldn't make a difference. Thanks though. I'll check next time I flash a rom.

I'd have to agree with estallings15. However, I did have other issues with my camera using different ICS roms, and was able to resolve them all by downloading absocamera(probably starting to sound like i'm beating a dead horse with this absocam stuff, but dammit, it works! )

How to ROOT and UPGRADE T-Mobile G2 to Ice Cream Sandwich?

Hi guys,
I'm sort of a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff. But essentially, I would like to root my phone so I can have added functionality, and upgrade my OS to ice cream sandwich because HTC decided not to include us on the ICS list.
Is there some sort of a definitive guide to do this?
Thanks
Instead of opening useless threads do some research type your question into google surely ull get your answer

Check out the XDA Wiki on the HTC Vision/G2 Phone. They have everything you need to know about rooting and downgrading and even unrooting.

As far as the ICS Rom, you can use which ever one you want. I'm using the CyanogenMod 9 RC2 Unofficial ROM and it works great (camera is fully functional!)

Seemed mimicry would be a better way to start off. *shrug* Course I can't really comment much on that as I've not tried Audacity (and not even sure how it differs from mimicry), only tried mimicry out of the Andromadus releases and that was actually quite smooth and lag-free for me.

When you installed mimicry you likely installed v6 supercharger, which is geared towards multitasking.

You could install 4ext touch recovery and use that, but I believe the recoveries available to use support trackpad up/down in addition to volume navigation, though you might get stuck in the bootloader as I don't believe those keys work there.

with debugging turned on your phone you can reboot to recovery that way, so my guess you will be just fine

Jelly Bean Audio Problem

Bear with me, I'm not the greatest explainer in the world.
Anyway, I'm using the CLASSCY JB ROM, and the audio bug after a call seemed to be fixed. I noticed that the audio was only routed back to the speakers when I pressed OK to the operator pop-up message, telling me my balance etc, or when the phone app was stopped or started again.
So what I did was flash a JB ROM (aokp r4) that I knew had the bug, with the kernel from the CLASSCY ROM to see what would happen if I closed the phone app manually. I didn't need to try though as the same thing happened.
I'm no dev, but it's either a kernel thing and/or the phone app isn't switching back after calls

JB roms has got a prob with audio.
Since AOKP is based on CM9.
It was already fixed so its a kernel prob.

The hell are you talking about? I think what the op was trying to say is that the audio problem is kernel related because when he used the Classcy kernel instead of the included kernel in the jellybean based aokp, the problem was fixed.

Yeah, i also tried and it rotate correctly; btw, if someone can control, IMHO the classcy kernel is the same of fxp (141?) because the animation is the same, so maybe the true fixer is the fxp kernel (now i am at the university so i can't verify this idea)

im pretty sure it isn't but is obviously based on fxp141 perhaps?
How come it worked for you guys on aokp with that kernel but for me audio bug still appears?
The problem isn't completely fixed, today I do other test, and now often the audio rotate correctly, sometimes not
Have you tried closing the phone app? That was the reason I flashed AOKP, to see if that was the problem. I only kept the CLASSCY kernel (FXP?) because I couldn't be bothered to turn on my PC and change kernels.
What I did was play music, make a call (without stopping the music) and I noticed the music played through the ear piece (not during a call) until I pressed OK to the operator pop up you get after outgoing calls. Incoming calls might not trigger the switch. Dunno.

No, I only tried to receive some call, and 3/4 times the audio rotate correctly, in the only wrong case I switch to mute and reactivate the audio; thanks for the advice btw
