ok so i've heard people here and i just wanna tell all of you that this thread was started with a completely different objective.. And became a battle ground..
let me clarify you one thing that i am thanking all the people i can remember.. Ofcource omegared and playgunsta has not done something like j, z etc but still they proved to be very helpful{to me atleast}... Great developers like j, z, trip dont have enough time to solve each and every probems of people.. So people like these offer/suggest mods in the rom..
even if they cant be called a developer, atleast we can give them a status of a c0-developer. They are worthy of it.. They had provided their time to help/mod/solve problems in the roms of developers... Lets face it.. At any day they can rectify the problem faster than we can...
atleast respect them for their contribution.. I serously have a respect for them.. Cause they can do what i cant even imagine.. Be thankful to them ... Atleast because of this co-developers the speed of development increases..
just have a look at sony ericsson forms.. There isint a reply for problems for months, and when they reply they always disappoint us.. Because of these people the problems are rectified quickly

You people disgust me.
XDA-Developers is about discussing mobile devices and expanding their capabilities and the like. Instead, every second thread is full of arguments and useless jargon that does not benefit anyone.
This thread was about thanking the many hard-working developers for their work and about discussing where we would be without them. I for one completly regretted my decision to buy an outdated, slow and laggy phone. This was until I found this website. I thank the devs for turning our underwhelming phones into super fast, super funcional super phones.
Yes, PlayGunsta may not be strictly classified as a "dev", but he may have been helpful to the original poster and he or she might have felt the need to thank PlayGunsta. If this has offended you for some reason, a PM to the original poster would have cleared up the seemingly unimportant matter almost instantly without any hassle.
That being said, if everyone had ignored the one post that hi-jacked this thread, there wouldn't be 9 pages of flaming wasting precious bandwidth to sift through to try and dins useful information.
In summery, If you don't have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all.

I think some members need some vacations to vent thereselves since they only create arguments and controversy.

Well all honesty i am kinda lost as well. Hence why i thought i make this one and try and keep up to date with everything that is going on..
What really surprises me is that people forget that all builds that are out are alpha builds and not stable...i am still on my Gingerbread rom and still loving it as it is solid and stable....Why people get so excited about an alpha is beyond me...
The real buzz will be when devs will have actual sources to be able to upgrade their roms to ICS level..That is when all the fun really should be starting not now

I wouldn't release anything if I was Airbus. After all the mud thrown on the other thread, sadly by other more "experienced" devs I wouldn't be surprised if he just cancelled the thread n disappeared.

To me it screams of jealousy on what Airbus has achieved the fact that people like Codeworkx and Paradoxxx are slamming him and all of a sudden made a complete u-turn on their earlier statement that they would release nothing until they had a stable build of CM9.
Airbus is trying to make a rom from scratch with inadequate tools, and he's not experienced. I think he's doing the best he can with the tools at his disposal.

I don't understand why so many people have their "panties in a wad" over Ice Cream Sandwich... I have been patiently trolling these forums and anxiously awaiting the day that a stable release is made. ANYthing made by a developer (that isn't garbage) I am thankful for, after all developers could say **** it and not give us anything. This rom was only released to help subdue those who are flaming over the release of CM9 anyhow...

good valid point...i am waiting for a stable version as well..and all honesty i might just wait for the stable official release itself from Samsung..As long as my phone works great as it is at the moment i am happy with that. If a stable leak comes first though and developers like Pulser, Checkrom team and Hyperdroid can get their hands on it then certainly that would be worth the jump. But at this moment of time when people are having a moan on someone who is trying to tweak a build that is already out and modify it to the way he wants that is disrespectful to him as he is not holding a gun to anyones head really and asking neither for help or money...
and last point people really need to chill out...more important stuff in life than a rom

Dev become more and more arrogant, people more and more stupid.
So why do you open this one? We already now the situation.
Forget about ICS, wait for a new firmware annoucement and then see if the new one is stable enought. If not, then forget again and repeat.

Hopefully the "team" (there's more than one man) are working on something good to come back with. I can completely understand why they closed it because the amount of lazy ass people that post in there looking for general support was a joke. They're nice people but there's a limit which has obviously been reached. We have a general section for general chit chat but people again are too lazy to use multiple fora to get what they require. Unfortunately the "user" will eventually ruin the "dev" focus of these forums.

In my opinion there should be a 100 post rule before you can even post in the developer forums. This would force the noobs top read the forums.

100% agreed. I'm sure it's been suggested before but always worth posting it in the support and feedback forum, go on you know you want to
Only backlash this would have is 100 posts elsewhere to get sufficient posts for them to plague the dev forums as they do now with the 10. It would possibly deter them though, anything's worth a try.

you should not lump together all newbies.
There are also the other one's, which read a lot and learn by doing.
Although I'm new to Android at all, I try to help where I can (it's not much..) and you won't find nooby questions. Because all one want to know is somewhere anwered here.
Maybe Dev's should set up 2 threads, one for Q&A with a faq at beginning, supported mostly by the "key users", and one only for dev-related matters (no answers to silly questions...)
Only my opinion of course...

100 post rule is bull, ya no why because they will just make new threads and ask the dumb ass questions.
I'm not a noob either i been here abour 5 years and watch this place go down hill so fast over the past year. I used to spend hours in the Leo section answering posts as demon man and got fed up of it. It isnt just the new people pissing devs off its the mods also there part to blame with there lame ideas, most of them just jump on there high horse. yes I can totally understand why devs just give up but then you have the likes of codeworkx who will tell you you will get abuse if you ask stupid dumb ass questions and abuse he will give, yet the stupid questions are still asked.
It doesnt take 10 mins to find 90% of your answers on here although the search button is a load of gash imo stickies are the best answer of read a few pages back but nobody seems to wanna do that anymore, hell the day i got my leo and touch diamond i nearly fudged them for not reading but after half hour of reading and looking you can find your answer the best bet would be that new topics have to be moderated first instead of the same question all the time go through and see how many posts there have been in the past 2 weeks about people screwing there efs folder that should be a stickie imo in bold.

I've been using xda for several years. I never post anything as the answer always seem to be available already posted my someone else.
Recently XDA has been an increasingly unpleasant place to visit. People seem to be unable to read more than the last 2 threads, have any sense of how to be even slightly polite and have no concept of the hard work an generosity of those developing and sharing. If i was a dev i'd have taken my bat and ball home ages ago.
I'll go back to reading, and tinkering with my phone.

Xda was awesome back in the windows mobile days Devs and noobs were very humble,civil helpful. There was no competition among devs and everyone used to work together.
Since android has come in this place has pretty much gone downhill. It is all about fame,donations now.
No offence, just a general observation.

Extropy has hit the nail on the head. I couldn't agree more.
Lets hope something changes, It's no fault of Xda, it's just that over the last year Androids popularity has exploded, and thus the number of newcomers and freeloaders.
BUT what angers me is that for every so called "Annoying noob post" in the threads there are 10X responses from established members that are much more aggressive and rude in tone in comparison. I feel its quicker to help someone and guide them In a constructive way. It's annoying sure, but saves comeback questions, heated exchanges and tempers blowing up.
Something needs to change, but its going to be a tough one.
One things for sure, I've seen many Good devs leave, soon there will be threads with a lot more Kangs then there already are.
I hope this gets sorted.

Used to be a nice place to come back in the winmo days people answered questions civil and you learnt to read now everybody wants spoon feeding info.

I disagree. Donations are fine in my opinion. I mean its hours spent trying to create something that everyone and yourself will like and share it for free. So a lil donation never hurts . With rom competition dont really see it tbh... i just think stealing some1 elses work is a piss take.

i do agree with what you are saying with the donations.. in an ideal world.
xda can always do this as an experiment.
see who remains when no donations are allowed.
pretty sure the kangs will stop rather quickly
as for the rule of 100 posts, its pretty easy to rack up, especially if they treat xda like twitter.
a combination of both number of years and post rule, with years taking precedence.
for ppl to post in dev threads anyway.

As far as I remember, from the WinMo days, it was the same old BS, just on a smaller scale, less devices, less forums, less posters, so it was all a more manageable talk for the mods/admind/etc to keep on top of.
I will be really sad if hyperdroid doesnt come back, I only really finished moving there from VR (Base got a bit old) and I dont want to have to find another rom, there all seem to be to themed rather than stable bases with the useful mods built in.

What differentiates newbies that are humble and n00bs are as below:
being a trolling n00b calling devs idiots, or demanding devs to give them exactly what they want, a n00b that can't read/search, a n00b that somehow thinks he knows best, a n00b that advices others to do weird/ridculous things to their phones, it can be pretty tiring.

Same thing that happened with designgears what a quality dev. His cognition had it all! Fell in love with that rom lol. He left rom got old and now im on wanam, which is really good. With android exploding as someone said....the posts may only get worse .

this is also my impression. i liked hyperdroid since HD2. excellent work. top job.
hyperdroid was the main reason to buy an SGS2.
But in a thread beginning with:
"Goals of the ROM: Fast. Functional. Solid.

Again: The most important person--- YOU, the user.
I think this should be a thread also for users. not only for devs. Did I get this wrong? ok, there where posts with awful context. but lump all users together?
one example of what i really don't understand: they say, the do their job primary for themselves. ok. but do the dev's need a OTA-Tool for themselves?
Users are the most important persons - and then they kick them out. This is a contradiction in my opinion.

I agree. But just read Pongster last post. He's got reasons to be angry but sounds a bit smug to me.
I never demanded anything or complained and moved to hyperdroid because the sounded committed while knowing what they talk about. I mean real development. But reading between the lines if you don't know how to use adb then you don't have the requested level. And you shouldn't report bugs.
So basically because of that + some disrespectful comments + stolen work they might stop sharing all along.
Well, it's their work, they don't owe us anything and it's only fair enough.
Life goes on and I won't beg them. If they come back then fine and I'd be pleased. However, even if I end up using their rom again, I won't post anything or ask help from them at all.
Edit: one more thing. Posting on their thread doesn't necessarily mean that you are requesting help from them. You ask help from those who use the same rom and may have encountered the same issue. Most of the time users help each other and that's the best way of learning.

I started reading these forums half a year ago. No clue of android.
Just an old HTC desire ...
So I startred reading the dummy how-tos, decided to root my Desire, what lead me to the root how-tos.
After rooting, the customer support of HTC sucked. I flashed cyanogen7.
Happy till today. (link2sd ^^ ... )
Then I rooted my Transformer 101, flashed a bunch of roms, got stuck in the recovery loop, many of us know, got out of it, flashed new recovery, flashed different kernels, than the Roms include ...
And all just by reading these forums.
Damn, you guys rock \m/

I posted a very similar thread here myself a few months back..isn't it awesome here? (besides the obvious trolls lol)
I'm learning to develop ROMs and apps now thanks to the community here, learned how to use git, and even met a few people that I work with now outside of the site on android development. Community is the best part of this place, but even lacking the community the information here is massive lol

I don't like long goodbyes but I need to tell all before I leave all of you most...

So here we go. My development is over - I'm done with it and want to tell you something about me before I leave (of course I will be here, but only sometimes and won't make any more projects). Why I need to end this all? This is a question. I told that on my DX8 thread on X10 development section - my hands have Carpal Tunnely Syndrome and I fighting with this for about few month or so. Now it's pretty nice, I'm holding myself and pain is not so bad and not hurting me everyday (only sometimes).
But what can I say about myself? It's very hard, but I will try to tell you everything I remember best:
I've started my adventure with Android after I bought Xperia X10 something like ~2 years ago. It was very nice choose and I started to learn some "noob-edits" like deleting officiall 2.1 apps (after I update it from 1.6) to make my X10 faster. Never heard about XDA yet. Then I started to write some first posts on my blog (which is old and closed already for months). I posted there my opinion about X10, my first news of Xperia family, and more. Then I get proposition from one forum to be VIP there. Now, heh, it's my forum . I worked there about Gameloft games etc. to make X10 better (won't tell where etc. cause on XDA it's not allowed - let's tell that my past is not "clean" - it's warez and hackers job yeah. Then I was asked to make some first steps on XDA, writing threads, make myself more international etc. Like you see - it was nice idea . But let's go back. After I close my blog I need to sell my first X10, but one of the best guys here, and very polite and fair friend, mohibb bought me one X10, to make my back-to-job possible. Then I back with some DiXperia for X10 users, can't remember which one. The development on XDA and my forum growed more and more, YT channel too, and my blog was already closed....And then, some time after I bought Xperia Play, and started to play with Play . Made DiXperia number first, then DiXperia 2, which is my last project in Android developping. Now, because of hands problem, I need to end this all and I think you respect my decision and you're happy to use (or used before) any of my ROM, and your device was better at least than Stock ROMs . All last threads like DX8 for X10 and DX2 for Play are complete in 10000% and I think the best fans or polite guys here will help all new persons here, with some bugs or anything else - I'm counting on you guys, cause I will be here only for free-talking about spam-features D), not for development or some new updates. And please don't ask if I will ever back - I think I won't. I have now my private life problems (girl, which I'm falling in love, arguing with me and it's all over...), school starts yesterday, I have much more things to do. But I will never forget about X10 and Play community, all best fans and haters and more. I want to thanks for Moderators and Administators for great job about XDA site and many, many more! Can't tell everything cause I will need to edit this thread thousand times to complete all I want to say!

Then I started to write some first posts on my blog (which is old and closed already for months). I posted there my opinion about X10, my first news of Xperia family, and more. Then I get proposition from one forum to be VIP there. Now, heh, it's my forum . I worked there about Gameloft games etc. to make X10 better (won't tell where etc. cause on XDA it's not allowed - let's tell that my past is not "clean" - it's warez and hackers job yeah. Then I was asked to make some first steps on XDA, writing threads, make myself more international etc. Like you see - it was nice idea . But let's go back. After I close my blog I need to sell my first X10, but one of the best guys here, and very polite and fair friend, mohibb bought me one X10, to make my back-to-job possible. Then I back with some DiXperia for X10 users, can't remember which one. The development on XDA and my forum growed more and more, YT channel too, and my blog was already closed....And then, some time after I bought Xperia Play, and started to play with Play . Made DiXperia number first, then DiXperia 2, which is my last project in Android developping. Now, because of hands problem, I need to end this all and I think you respect my decision and you're happy to use (or used before) any of my ROM, and your device was better at least than Stock ROMs . All last threads like DX8 for X10 and DX2 for Play are complete in 10000% and I think the best fans or polite guys here will help all new persons here, with some bugs or anything else - I'm counting on you guys, cause I will be here only for free-talking about spam-features D), not for development or some new updates. And please don't ask if I will ever back - I think I won't. I have now my private life problems (girl, which I'm falling in love, arguing with me and it's all over...), school starts yesterday, I have much more things to do. But I will never forget about X10 and Play community, all best fans and haters and more. I want to thanks for Moderators and Administators for great job about XDA site and many, many more! Can't tell everything cause I will need to edit this thread thousand times to complete all I want to say!
It's not so long as I wanted to be, but it's enough. Goodbye guys, love our community, and I will be here, but not so often, and with not new projects.

be careful about that!

I still remember well,your rom dixperia 7 was the first custom rom I used. That started my craze to flash almost every single rom available,because of dixperia 7 my love for the x10 grew.,when I almost gave up on it.
Dikej,your one of the best developers the x10 ever had,and its sad to see you end development but I understand. ,personal life and health is far much more important.

I came to x10 one year ago and to xda and dikeJ about two months ago (when you released dixperia 8)
my first one was dixperia 7, dixperia 8 Sb and lots of others.... noone reached yours... now on dixperia 8 Sstyle and im simply lovin it.
Buddy im sad that you leave but 17 isnt too much to start a real life without all the programmin things... cause in the end its just a phone, so I hope that you can look forward without tears and also look back without.

I always nice to read which person lives behind 'the developer'.
Altough I never used one of your ROMs, i always read something good about them.
Even that I wasn't a DXperia-user (during DXperia 6, I was on Trips ROM), you've given me a great x10. Why, you ask?
Because you were developing at a high level, other developers were also working at high level. So therefor: every ROM became great ROM. It's because developers learned from each other and helped each other. So there was a benefit for me
Ofcourse, real life is more important. So i wish you all the best.
