Sweet. I was a little concerned about this. A lot of manufactures tend to ignore last year's model. It's good to see we are going to get official support of at least 2 major Android releases!
I would absolutely LOVE a prime, but I can't really justify it at this point.

i have to say that i am amazed at asus's customer support for the transformer!
Not only have they created a beautiful piece of technology at a price most people can afford easily they have also kept up to date on updates for us as well.
I dont think many of us were expecting an update to ICS but this news is good news...
Role on the update i say!

I wouldn't worry about it so much... maybe some people missed the news and the mods can always combine threads if it really does cause some kind of a horrible problem.

Needless to say, people aren't using the search function so it doesn't give them the right to just create a whole new thread. The OP should have appended this information to the already existing thread regarding this issue.
Please, lets keep the community clean of pointless threads.

Is that backseat comfy?
Asus haven't officially confirmed that the eee pad will be updated before. Last time there was news about the update was when a worker from asus told that asus would update the eee pad. Now we are sure that it will be updated because Asus told so and not just a worker.
This is news to me as i'm not on this forum every single day. Thanks OP. If we all let the mods do their duties then maybe the XDA forums wouldn't be 40% posts about wrong forum, use search, and flaming.
Anyway, glad to hear Asus is taking a firm stand in providing updates. That's the biggest issue when trying to choose a product - Is the Manufacturer going to continue support or are they just going to forget about it and move on to the next product.
It's things like this that will give a lot of credibility to the company.
Asus announced it on Facebook and Twitter

Have you tried the SVN build of Handbrake yet? It will find the main title and rip/recode it right off the Blu-ray (I'm not sure if it decrypts, I'm using AnyDVD HD). It also has a volume boast feature! I can get most Blu-Ray's done in < 1hr on my 2500K. Nerdvana.
Update: different branches of Asus are directly contradicting each other about whether we'll get an update. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28840181 for the first example. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29269146 for yet another contradiction.
Title says it all, really. Asus Europe has confirmed at a press event that Jelly Bean will be released for the Prime, the TF300, and the TF700T, but TF101 and Slider users will be left out in the cold.
Rough translation:
"Sam from Tablets Magazine was present at the press conference, and ASUS confirmed that not all of its tablets can expect an update to the newest version of Android. The Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201, the Transformer Pad TF300 and the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 are certain to receive Android 4.1 Jellybean.
The previously launched models, the Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and the Eee Pad Slider, are not expected to be updated, and will remain on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich."
http://www.tabletsmagazine.nl/2012/...finity-krijgen-android-4-1-jelly-bean-update/
Some if not most of the developers here at XDA who program for the tf101 do a better job than the officials over at ASUS. I have faith in our developers and will support them fully to release any form of Jelly Bean for our beloved tablet.
Read the same news but have not seen it confirmed on other sites. Anyone? The source article says "Earlier launched models, such as the Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and the Eee Pad Slider, won't have to expect an update". They're not literally saying it will "NOT" come to the TF101. Just that it's not expected. So, it's still possible. And isn't Asus supposed to support their Android OS devices 18 months and should comply to Google regulations?
Furthermore, what grauntparty says: our respected XDA devs have done a far better job on ICS than Asus did. In fact, Asus is somehow obliged to grant us TF101 users a JB update. Especially the unlucky ones on stock rom. If you read this Asus, you know what to do... This upgrade cannot be that hard for you, even my old Defy is now running a CM10 JB nigthly already. If not, In Dev We Trust but your brand won't appear on my next shopping list.
OT/
A propos, Motorola, another fine example of customer loyalty. Defy got stuck on Froyo with a locked bootloader, which they promised to remove in 2011. Never heard anything ever since. And now thanks to xda devs it has JB. Oh, as much as I love my precious Defy I HATE Moto.
If this is true, it'll be my last ASUS Android purchase. Halting support for new versions after only a year?!
in devs we trust, all glory to xda!!!!

I know, you don't want to believe it, but that's clutching at straws. (Google-translated straws, at that.)
Asus has told them which products are and aren't getting updates. They've reported that. The only way we'll get an update from Asus now is if they change their mind, which is pretty darned unlikely.
I'm sure we'll get an excuse at some point that the TF101 and Slider "aren't capable" of running JB, which we all know is complete nonsense.
The real reason we're not getting the update? Because we're Tegra 2, which is no longer the current generation. Hence it costs money to make the update; they can't simply repurpose an update for another device. (Devices getting the update are all Tegra 3; devices not getting it are all Tegra 2.)
If you ask me, it's likely why the ICS update we got is so rubbish, as well. We got a half-assed bodged variant of Tegra 3 ICS, rather than a proper Tegra 2 build. So frankly, it's good news that we're not getting official JB, because we'd just have gotten another half-assed build if they'd shipped one, anyway.

Fair enough, apologies for the misunderstanding, I don't often look at people's flags. Should've noticed that, though.
That said, even with your translation, you're still clutching at straws. Why would Asus tell them it wasn't coming, unless they'd decided it wasn't coming?

Transformer TF101 was launched on March 30, 2011. Adding 18 months, we should be hoping for software updates until October 2012.
That would give Asus 2.5 more months to support the device with updates. I'd personally expect perhaps 1 more ICS update but given Asus track record on updates I don't expect JB anymore. It takes them a couple (or more) of updates to get it somewhat stable and that would take more months.
WHAT its been 3 months since I bought this tablet FUC# you Asus "In XDA I TRUST"
Try getting yourself a Samsung Tablet then and see what real under valued customers have to go through. Asus have been way more reasonable with updates for the TF. I can understand the frustration but there are worse out there. Org Gtab (some) are still on Froyo, then the 1st gen larger tabs (some) are still on HC.....then the Tab2 rolled out within months of those.
Maybe the problem is just the whole Android system in itself......too many cooks and all that.
Maybe Google will have to ditch some of the manufacturers from the scene.
Or maybe the manufacturers that use Android just need to stop arseing around with it and all the fancy schmancy extra things they do with the O.S and leave it as close to the Google image as possible.
Or they should just pay our devs a good some of money to fix what they have came up with and let them show the way it should be done.
Who knows.
As much as i like how the whole android set up works for me, i have to be honest and say i now understand why and how Ipads etc are so appealing to some. Its a lot of money to spend on something that "sometimes" works the way it should.
I would jailbreak any "i"device so i dont think its a case of you shouldnt have to rely on our fantastic hard working devs to make something better......its just the way it is.
Go devs! We salute you! nuff respect :good: (look forward to some well made JB)
Well, no JellyBean crap from asus for you this time.
But as of aosp, I am making progress.
I love my TF101, even though our relationship is complex atm as we have to communicate through adb, as the touchscreen drivers aren't fixed as of now.
But JellyBean works. Just a little more effort for the first test releases.
I even get full support from my old friend guevor and maybe also from Team Liquid for Rom debugging.

A more open Asus, with a beta test programme for technical users* would instantly do two things.
1) result in Asus shooting to the top of the cool list for tinker-types.
2) result in a more stable end product for non-technical types, with more bugs out of the system prior to OTA update.
*technical users being those that meet a minimum criteria of producing accurate and technical bug reports and not just "it doesn't work waaaaaaahhaaaaa".
If Asus doesn't do this, it's only a matter of time before someone else does it and takes the crown.

Asus now calls our TF101s the Eee Pad Transformer and the TF300 the Transformer Pad. Subtle, I know, but enough to give them an out if they feel the need. It sounded to me like a for sure for Tegra 3 and we don't know yet for Tegra 2. It's already been proven to run great on Tegra 2 so there is really no excuse to withhold it from us. I'll probably run a custom ROM anyway so it really won't matter to me. It might be nice though to get some of the Asus parts for custom ROMs where they and nVidia should know the hardware and it's secrets better than we do.
nah, we will have to trust in devs from now on, Asus wont give us JB

I'm sorry but do you really care so much about 'official' JB? We have everything we need to make it work from AOSP, there's only a few minor problems that are definitely fixable, and I'm pretty sure we'll fix those sooner than ASUS releases an update. Most ASUS bloat works on AOSP without problems, and feature wise their ROM is only different in toggles and touchpad settings, both of which are very possible. So can someone explain why would they want OFFICIALZ STUFFZ?

An official update from AUSUS would increase the chance of also getting updater drivers, e.g. NVidia drivers etc.
Also an official build from AUSUS would have everything up and running (if yet possibly still with a few bugs, but lets hope not).

It says "We have great news for owners of Asus tablets! Android 4.1 JellyBean update will be released for all Asus devices currently working on Android 4.0"
Message date is 23rd, November.
Great news , hope its true.
A leak from this Asus Tf101 JellyBean would be enough for us to flash before it even officially release.. hope it true..

I seriously doubt it. This has been an on going theme for the last few months.
It better be true
I hope it's true as I can't root my tab because my USB is broken :-\

Well, it should be true, since it is published on an official Asus page, but I can not guarantee

Don't believe everything that you read read for crying out loud & from a Russian page at that. If that were the case it would have been out 5 months ago.
A little update: I've just asked if this is an official page and statement, so the answer was yes. They will inform us further, as soon as they get more info regarding updates.
Bad news, the post on the website seems to be taken down
All we need is one solid Rom, everytime a never version of android comes out it lays waste to many unfinished Roms.
There have been several announcements on other web pages saying that TF101 will not get Jelly Bean. To be honest, I don't think that ASUS will maintain our "outdated" model and provide a new firmware version.
I have successfully rooted my device, put RaymanFX CM10 ROM on along with timdurus KAT kernel. My TF101 is now much faster, much more responsive and rock stable. ... maybe you should give it a try.

Unfortunately the post from facebook was deleted, Asus representatives didn't provide any further info on JB update. At this point there are neither official confirmations nor denials regarding updates for TF101
Not a good sign...
Jb on tf101 is better supported here then something from asus anyhow.
I was on the online support chat for Asus NA a couple days ago and asked if there were any further updates expected for the TF101 or is it now unsupported and was told, by a Kyle, that as far as he could see that there was going to be an update to 4.1.1 for the TF101, but there was no official word or date of release yet. He also said that the TF101 was far from being irrelevant. Take it for what it's worth.
I have to say i'm feeling confident in an update as they have been many more confirmations then denials to an update for the TF101. Maybe a Christmas present from Asus.

Exactly. That's what I said too: It may be a christmas surprise. I just don't get why it takes that much for making just a new FW.. I mean, some people like RaymanFX which I guess that he learned everything from Internet can make BETTER FWs than Asus?.. Eh. Anyways. Hope they'll make a better firmware than ICS.

I cant wait when he finish the 3.1 divemaster kernel. Tf101 cxan compete now with tegra3 :3.
And ofcourse the 4.2 rom.
Also I really hope that asus will bring out JB on tf 101.
