system prtition size - GT540 Optimus General

since i cant post in development side so i ask here.
i want to try mike's ics rom but i dunno the size of the system partition for ics to run. So what is the size i need to run this rom?

if you have the swiftdroid bootloader builder already all u need is 200mb for it to run

220 is recommmenmded!

Me and pro lama use 200 but both are fine

Wildpuzzle Vs Cm7

Hi Folks
im new to the custom rom scene, so please forgive me if this sounds like a really stupid question
I have only installed 2 roms so far Wildpuzzle V0.8 and CM7 6.1.0
When i install WP i only get approx 90mb internal memory yet when i install cm7 i get approx 165mb internal
i have followed melvan changs guide on the forums here and i have even spoken to him in person and we have tried several options but none seem to work
Therefore is there another way of getting 165mb in wildpuzzle or can someone (try and) explain why cm7 gets 165 but wp only gets approx 95mb
I have tried several different makes of micro sd cards but with no success
again sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but im trying to figure out why i can get nearly double the amount of internal memory if i use cm7 rather then wp

Wrong forum. Therefore I hate you.
CM7 is AOSP-based, so you can use JIT and it's quicker.
But you don't get HTC's framework, so no Sense (Which is slow as hell anyway), or Sense apps.
apologies for posting it in the wrong forum, i thought with it being a rom based question it should belong in development...can a mod move it?
ok so maybe i might have to use cm7 and try and change the things i dont like about it
thanks for the reply nick, i shall try and post in the correct forums next time
Also note that CM7 is Android version 2.3.3
Whereas WildPuzzle is at 2.2.1
You need an ext partition and move dalvik cache to sd for that much free space on wildpuzzle, but who really needs that much lol
Edit you can try formatting everything.
i got a lot of fc's on cm7
i have jit enabled and setcpu on (but maybe im not using it correctly)
i tried to create the partition in rom manager and using an pc software, but no joy (again unless im doing it wrong)
Try a gparted live cd.
yeh thats the one i tried
you got any instructions?
Go to rom manager and pick fix permissions, that might help some fc's. Also try flashing jacobs 4.1 kernel since 4.2 doesn't work for some people.
For setcpu make the min > 122 and max < 768
so i need nightly full 15 from here
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=buzz
then jacobs 4.1 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
then google apps (if i want them)

No CM comes overclocked by default so you don't need Jacob's kernel. Google apps you can use though.

Did you bother to read? I said to use the 4.1 kernel since 4.2 is unstable for some people.
now im confused windy is saying i dont need to overclock and kevin is saying i do
and yeh i did read your post, you said flash jacob4.1
the only jacob 4.1 i found is on this second link, although the title of the thread says 4.2, 4.1 is on there as well
hmm... everyone.. what he is trying to say is
CM6.1 and Wildpuzzle... not CM7...

Sense isn't slow. It's equal to CM7 if not faster. It's only slow in places that are processor-intensive (benchmarks, games, web browsing etc.) while the interface is really smooth, much smoother than any AOSP based ROM.

Mmm hmm yeah in wildpuzzle v0.8 the dalvik cache was on the phone to improve performance. Easily moved to sd to free up memory if you really need it, just read at least at least the first page of the Rom thread carefully (directed to forst post^)

Mike's ICS ROM

Before I say anything, I know this is probably in the wrong place, but it wouldnt let me post in the development forums because of my low post count, I also know this ROM is in a pre-alpha stage and will have many broken features and bugs, this is not what I am asking about.
I just want to know if anyone knows how big the ROM is, I want to try it out to see what it could be like, the download is 167MB, but is that how big the installed rom is? I have resized partitions in my flash memory, therefore if its bigger than 150MB I will need to resize again.
Also (I know basic question) will I still beable to boot to CWM to restore a nandroid backup of Swiftdroid? I know that atleast Wifi and GSM dont work, as long as the info on Mike's web page is up to date, this alone will mean I will need to roll back after I have had a look around, so a nandroid backup will be the best way.
I only ask the last question because I have only used swiftdroid so I need to make sure.
the download contain the recovery version and fastboot version in the one zip the system is about 140MB
Thanks, my system partition is just big enough, do you have any sugestions on a reasonable size for my system partition? Mainly for when more is working and I upgrade perminantly 10MB isnt enough for any updates imo.

I dont get any rebooting on my phone, and barely any force closes except things confirmed not to work.
If you have resized system and data partitions, I changed my system partition to 170MB because there is alot to come to the rom and it could get alot bigger, I can always lower it if needed.

how do you partition the system to 180MB? I also have the same problem of restarting .. however there are problems with the keyboard and I found the official ICS only by the number of posts I am unable to post it on the official post .. so if anyone wants to take this job I can ask in PM the link (because of the number of posts I'm not insert link) (PS: this keyboard would solve many problems; D)

[HELP]ZTE Blade with Cyanogen Mod 7.1

I just bought a zte blade...i flashed cyanogen stable 7.1 and now i wonder how i can unlock the 512 ram..cause the phone is bought in greece and for all i know the greek ones have limited their ram by software at 256 or something like this..
So...firstly..by installing cyanogen did it already got unlocked ,and if not how do i unlock it?
Mods,please move to general...

Y U NO helpfull?!?!?!
Use this to unlock your 512mb ram (Greek Blades only) - http://amphoras.co.uk/index.php/downloads/blade-tpts#g2v2a
Read the instructions on the page.

It wont make any difference to speed at all. You can choose from either Gen2 v2a, or Gen2 stock, none of the others will work for you. Either version will unlock the 512mb ram. The only difference is how the storage space is partitioned.
You want the gen2 v2a version for CyanogenMod 7, or the gen2 stock version if you ever want to install CyanogenMod 9.
They will wipe your phone. You should backup in clockworkmod first & then restore from clockworkmod afterwards. There is a small risk of bricking your phone, especially if you do it wrong, so read all the instructions.
System is where the rom is, if it's smaller than the rom that you want to use then it wont work. Data is where your apps & their saved data are.
Cache is only used for market downloads, most custom roms will redirect that to somewhere else, so you don't need much cache because it never gets used.
If you use the v2a version you'll have more room to install apps, but CyanogenMod 9 & other ICS roms won't work, because they're too big for the small system size.
If you go for the stock gen2 then you'll have the same space available for apps as you do now. Apps2Ext is a better way to get more room to install apps, download Simple2Ext from Google Play to get it working on CyanogenMod 7.
This is all assuming your Greek Blade was sold to you with Android 2.2. If it was sold to you second hand with CyanogenMod 7 installed, then it's likely that somebody else has already done it & you don't need to because you already have 512mb ram unlocked. If the Gen2 TPTs from Amphoras' page don't do anything, then it's almost certainly already been done.
Make sure that you really don't have over 256mb, download 'Android System Info', look under RAM, at the Max, if it's about 420MB, then you don't need to do anything, you've already got 512mb ram enabled.
wow wbaw....that was really helpfull...so i have gen2 ,not the 512 ram...
now...if i follow the guide and unlock more space...i will have to first backup cyanogen7 with clockwork and after i unlock the memory,i restore again through clockwork, and ill have 512 AND cyanogen7?
Also if i want to install cm9 which one you suggest?
i know it is personal choise which rom to install but i need a starting point

Nearly all blades can remain stable at 710 MHz. However some, (like mine and karthiknr's) are stable at 748 too.
Ans while testing, DO NOT CHECK THE SET ON BOOT options

OK, I have learned that ROMs can be "edited" before flashing and that some can be reduced to <150Mb.
ATM, I am trying to reduce Miroslav's AOSP to <150Mb. Deleted ring-tones (cca 15Mb). Now I must delete a few apps. Could someone recommend which apps can be "safely" removed? Is it enough to remove .apk to remove accompanying application? (I have tried to ask about this in Miroslav's AOSP thread, but I can't post in development thread because I have less than 10 posts :-S )
Thanks in advance!

AOKP needs "180-190" MB. I don't think any ICS is easy to trim into 150 MB.

It is interesting that the /system size for his ICS is only 137.5Mb and therefore should fit into 150Mb limit. Nevertheless the OP says it needs 180-190Mb. Maybe I am missing something.
Ringtones+notifications take about 5Mb and bootanimation.zip is 2.3Mb and that can be deleted without problem I guess.
You wrote "ringtones APPS". What apps are connected with ringtones? And where can I find livewallpapers in the .zip file (I found only livewallpapers.apk with 1.1Mb size)?
Thanks!

Oh! Many, many thanks! This is just what I needed! . Heck, now 150Mb seems too large
i offten delete thins i dont use like ringtons, and apps like:
CM7 Update Advisor (useless since we run unnofficial releases)
Google Talk
Email (only use the Gmail and the hotmail app)
Market Commentary Agent
Calendar Storage
Google Calendar syncro
Sim Services
Live Wallpapers
Pico TTS
Music player (i use winamp pro)
Market updater
VPN
Sound recorder
Initial advices (some roms have it but dont use it, some are unstable if you delete this)
And sometimes i delete some apps delevopers add like notes or another calendar...or the twitter app (i use tweetcaster)
Almost any app can be deleted from the room if is not system critical (like Android System, certificate or packege installer, etc etc) i just 2 times had problems with this, once i deleted the launcher selector and launcher app from system (i was using Go Launcher) and i made some mistakes with V6 Supercharger so i wiped out everything but i forgot that the system would'nt have a launcher so i only got boot and then the wallpaper but nothing else.
And the second one i deleted Google play services or some relative app...my download and my uploads too an when i downloaded something from the web browser i had "failed download" or "damaged packed" from google play.

[Testing][Kitkat] Flashable Adreno 300 series August 2014 driver update for Xperia

Hey, I know the power of our GPU devices is fast. But everyone of us want to push their phone faster without killed the battery. So today I introduce you: Adreno 300 series update driver for Xperia. It should work with every Xperia that powered by Adreno 300 series GPU and Kitkat rom (recomended 4.4.4)
Based on Qualcomm developer preview driver for Nexus line. I had removed unused stuff (wrong libs, file, junk, etc...) and make it flashable....
Prefer to flash via CWM (TWRP on your choice but I notice that many mod cant install correctly, that also happen to CWM so if you had any trouble, try to flash via both recovery...)
Remember to clear kernel setting, wipe dalvik/cache after flashed this
TOS: I dont care if your device is faulty, weird, brick, your house on fire, you loose the job...Flash at your own risk after trying this...This is test driver, not officialy one....Remember to backup everything before trying this....Dont cry if you didnt listen to me...
And remember to run games/benchmark to compare after and before you flash this mod...

And Qualcomm just updated Adreno 320 driver for Ubuntu 14.09 Linaro. So dev have chance to port Ubuntu ROM....
Our Xperia just use driver dated from 04/07/2014 so I think this will bring some boost...

I would love an Andreno 200 series version of this, despite that no one actually confirmed any performance changes, only one post showing a small increase (maybe just a normal difference when benchmarking), I'm whilling to give my Xperia S (Adreno 220) any performance boost at all. Almost 3 years with this phone and I guess it's almost time to retire it, so no problems for me. :fingers-crossed:
Now is ok with script in .zip?

Here (recomended 4.1.2) (Untest, flash at your risk)
Adreno 200 series libs
Flash like Adreno 300 file (wipe dalvik/cache...and so on)
P/S: Since I didnt know the mount system in old Xperia I will put a harmless test file in zip to check if the zip is flash correct. After flashing this, /system should have a file called "AdrenoTEST". If you already flashed but still cant find that file, that's mean I used the wrong way to mount system in recovery. If you can find it, feel free to delete test file...
