HyperDroid CM7 Market problem - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Recently I updated my HD2 from HyperDroid GBX to CM7, since I restore my Apps from Titanium backup / AppMonster, I didn't take notice if some of the Apps I'm using can be found by CM7 Market or not.
Not until last week, some of my Apps alert for updates, and I try to update it through market, and suprise me that it didn't shown up.
I did encounter this problem in GBX before, that's is because Market updated to new version. However, this time I checked that no Market update occured.
May somebody help me on this? I know that Market 'filter' out some of my Apps because the config (or requirements I guess) does not match with the Apps, so it didn't shown up. Is there a way to fix this problem? It is quite annoying as I need to find the apk elsewhere, and not all can be found.
Many many thanks.

I just reading the Hyperdroid cm7 thread because there is a new release. I notice the author mentioned a point to the ver 5.6 is that even lcd density is not 240, Market will treat it as 240.
So I try to modify build.prop and change it from 192 and 240, a lot of Apps update (**but not all**) appear in the Market now.
How can I know what exact config is expected by an App?

Give this one a try:
ro.product.model=Vision
ro.product.brand=htc_wwe
ro.product.name=Vision
ro.product.device=Vision
ro.product.board=Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-google
modify lines above in the build.prop and reboot.
With this I can get all Apps i want to have.
Some Apps arent compatible with the HD2, cause its a WinMo Stock Device
You could either name the App you want, i search the market and post if this one is compatible with a build.prop as mentioned above

DO you think flash to 5.6 can solve the lcd density problem? It is quite annoying to change to 240 and reboot (as I like 192)......thx.

[Q] Problem downloading on new nook with cm7

I just got a nook and have installed cm7 nightly 155, 160, and 161 and still am having this problem. I go thru the setup and everything seems to be fine but when I try to download anything from the market it will not download and just stick at the starting download screen.
I would try changing the dpi to 160 from 161 but cannot download es file explorer or anything like that since the market does not work.
I don’t know if I am doing something wrong or if I need to change other settings to make it work. I have tried the clear data /cache for the market application but does not fix it. Any help would be appreciated as I am kind of new to android.
Do you use new market?
Did U try with uninstalling Market Update from Applications?
I have tried to get it to work on the new and old market. I uninstall the update and try to download things and they still do not download. After reading the post on here I thought maybe it was due to the new market but it still does not work with the market that has the green back.
However I know the internet works due to the fact that I can browse online with it.
Did U clear cache and data for Market?
yea I will uninstall the update and then clear the cache and data and still no luck

[Q] Back to old market?

Forgive me if this has been asked, I've searched for an answer and found nothing helpful...
So the new market seems to be problematic, how can I get (and keep) the old market?
IT seems like when I uninstall the updates, its the old market for awhile, then the new market installs?
Also, some items (Netflix and such) don't show up anymore in Market... what gives?
Any help would be great, and I'll click the "thanks button" for anyone who helps me
Edit: this seems to stop the market from updating...

I found this posted over at the HTC Aria forum by user mtnlion and thought somebody might be interested. You can turn off the market updater (which is responsible for bringing the new market back over and over) by going to terminal emulator and typing:
Code:
$ su
# pm disable com.android.vending.updater
This can be re-enabled by doing the same as above but typing enable instead of disable. I've tested it and it appears to persist after reboot. If you already have the new market you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market > Uninstall Updates. This will revert you to the old market. Do it after disabling updater.
This doesn't stop automatic updates of apps according to the other thread. I'm sure some of you already know about this but hopefully it'll help somebody.

(I slightly edited the above)
Doesn't fix my issue of the missing apps though
First post...
Are you reverting to the old market because of the constant FC messages? or do you have other complaints?

Reverting back to the old market because the new market seems to be missing apps (netflix, etc etc) and the fact that the new market looks (and functions) like crap.
I have no issues with FC's... yet.
OK, well I don't want to stray your thread because I'm having a number of other issues with FC's. I'll start another thread.
Good luck.
Uninstall the market update app. (I used Titanium Backup.) Then uninstall the update and you should remain with the old market.
I can't get any updates. As soon as I start to download an update to any installed app, Market force closes. Any ideas?

Nightly 177 from SDcard.
3.0.27
build.prop is as is
Any app I try to update or install new. Here is an example at random: Solitaire by Ken Magic. Tried to install, get the download screen and boom force close.
I'm an inch away from just nuking my card and starting over. It was all happy until I tried updating the Market to the newest one and it's been in a death spiral ever since.
Thanks,
Homer
What I did, was rename marketupdater.apk to marketupdater.apk.bak.
I want to say the file is in /system/app
Then uninstall the market updates.
I don't know if it has anything to do with my market working, but I also did LCD Density to 160 fix. You can find that here on the forums pretty easily... But I read that the LCD Density fix only works a few days.
Mine's been working fine for at least the last week or so with these 2 things.

I think you answered your own question. Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for this.) Then, go to the settings for the market app and uninstall the update.
I found this but haven't been able to run the linux stuff from terminal emulator (Su fails).
So I can't say if this works or not.
facebookdotcom/note.php?note_id=279479622068267 .... I'm new so I can't hotlink
I'm on SD card to, with CM7. I'd love the old marketplace back, but also settle for having all of the download icons show. (I haven't been able to save edits to my build.prop).

Edit your build.prop and change the screen density to 160.
I have the exact same issue and have tried all the "solutions" I have found, nothing so far helps.
I'm running of an SD, CM7 nightly from August 28, one of the later kernels.
Everything works fine except this #$%^$ market.
Ideas?
Since none of my apps seem to be affected by screen density I simply uninstalled the marker updater app and kept the old market. If you are already on the new market. Uninstall the updater app first and then go into the applications settings for the market and uninstall the last update. Clear the data and cache as well.

Can you direct me to what needs to be changed in build.prop? Thanks.
There should be a line that says
Code:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=161
Just change the number to 160.
I did that, thought there might have been some other line to be edited there that they weren't mentioning. Thanks.

Start up the Terminal. Become Superuser by typing "su" and return.
Remount /system as read/write by typing:
mount -o remount,rw /system
Edit /system/build.prop and change qemu.sf.lcd_density=161 to be 160.
Then go to Applications, force-close Market and clear all its data (but do not uninstall).
Then reboot.
If this still did not work, search the Internet for the latest Google Apps zip from August, 2011. If you have Rom Manager it's the newest one listed under "Download ROM...Google Apps" window. It's even newer than what is offered on download sites that have Phiremod or CM 1.7 RC.
When Market first starts it might ask you to install a list of apps. Choose a couple of them. I've observed that Market will then automatically upgrade itself again when I do this. I've been using the newest Market app with the 160 DPI setting for about a week now and it has never stopped working. I suspect that it might be the newest Google Apps that fixes some of the magic.
Note that some things, like the on-screen keyboard, have letters that are too large due to this setting. It's really supposed to be set to 170 DPI but 160 DPI is the setting that makes the Market app work again.

I don't see how to uninstall the market updater. It doesn't have the option in "manage applications" to uninstall it, and it doesn't show up in astro. How can I get rid of it?

Thanks. I did finally see it there after I installed Root Explorer. Having access to everything on the NC, it makes me want to root my phone.
This is probably the same problem I have experienced.
Yesterday I install CM7 bootable to a new SD card I just bought. After everything installed, I found that several essential google apps, like maps, youtube, are not able to install. Market complains that my device is not compatible.
However, these apps run properly in my old SD card. The Market from the old card has been updated, and it seems it's working properly as well. I'll check the DPI setting on both card. I don't think they are different because I installed both card through the same build.
Question: how to clone the entire old card to my new card? They are from different brand, old Kingston and new Sandisk. I've used WinImage32 to clone the Kingston to the Sandisk, but it doesn't boot at all.

"Your device is not compatible with this item"

Edit: nvm.. fixed it by clearing data of the market place. Thx anyways =P
I have recently changed roms to hyperdroid cm7 and I started getting this message when trying to download apps in the marketplace, not all apps give me this message. I have tried to change my LCD density from 193 to 240 but till same problem. Any fix for this??
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
1. By changing DPI need to reboot and reset settings/cache Market
2. The latest version of Hyperdroid is fixed
3. Not all applications are compatible with your country/operator

DPI change and Play Store

I'm running my Defy with 200 DPI set and there's a little problem with Play Store I'm facing. Some apps just won't appear in search results (like they were incompatible). I've flashed zip with multi dpi Play Store already but that didn't solve it. On some occasions these apps will show up (rarely, no idea what it depends on) and there will be no problem with installing and running it. Some examples of missing apps: Facebook, DefyLens. Anything can be done about it?
Which Rom? If you're on cm10, then you could shift to paranoid android which doesn't have any such issues and allows very specific dpi and layout customization
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
It's latest CM7 nightly from maniac103.
Found the solution:

Hi,
To change your LCD density but avoid apps incompatibility, set your density back to 213 (240 for moto defy).
Now, create a file in /data/local.prop and type in it :
qemu.sf.lcd_density=160 (or anything you prefer)
You can change the density to whatever you want, save and reboot
Please press thanks if I helped you
