Verizon rom ok to run on sprint tabs? - Galaxy Tab General

Verizon rom is newer 2.3.5. And I need some of the functionality of it. I am tempted to download one of the rooted verizon roms. But do not want to brick my tab in the process. Can anybody confirm that verizon roms can safely be used on sprint tabs?

the actual fully stock VZW rom would probably try and flash a modem update, and that wouldn't work on the sprint tab (and could be catastrophic) but any of the custom VZW roms should work fine other than possible loss of 3g functionality.

I'm about 99% sure you are correct. I plan on running a Sprint tab this way (wifi only) and will have a definite answer for you in a week or so, but someone will have already answered you for sure by then.

Does flashing from sprint to cricket affect anything?

I have an evo 4g and already has been flashed over to cricket, my question is .......does this flash have any ill effects when installing a new rom?
No, but not all ROM's may work properly.
you'll likely have trouble with MMS if using a rom intended for a phone on the Sprint network. That's really about it.

Sprint GB Rom on VZW Tab

Hello all. I asked around but couldn't get a concrete answer if I could flash the GB Rom for Sprint onto my VZW Tab. Well I thought why wouldn't it run.....so I tried it. It works beautifully, now I have GB on my VZW Tab. I should also mention that I am not a data subscriber and that I only use my Tab on WiFi, so there was no issue with the data subscription. Follow this link if you want to try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161033
Good Luck!
Edit: I also notice that I am still on the Verizon baseband of DL21. So I don't know how this all worked....but it does.
Glad someone tried it and posted back to answered all the questions.

+1 Works Flawlessly. I am also on the VZW baseband of DL21, but as the OP Ionly use wifi so I don't care.
Amusingly it did complain that I was Roaming and may get speedhumped by zombies because of it.
Steps I took are as follows:
Flashed back to stock according to steps and files in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967175
After that finished I then followed the instructions for Sprint users to flash the rooted updated from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161033
I followed the above steps verbatim in succession and it flashed without issue.
The only thing I did that wasn't listed was to pull my sd card and delete all the files on it before I began. (I didn't format just deleted all files) and I don't even think that was neccessary, I did it as a just in case thing.
Hope this helps some people wit VZW tabs looking to get some Netflixy goodness going (the main reason I attempted this)
Now I just need someone with a data plan to post their experience with doing this so I can try

No data here on a VZW tab with that rom installed. Tries to connect but doesn't work. I am running the DJ11 modem. Any other modems I can flash to test? I don't see any vzw modems in the modem sticky.
Also, since this is stock, be aware it's not stock GB but stock sprint GB update. Full of touchwiz and bloatware.
Edit: Tried Verizon Tab Bootstrapper and tab would load up sprint bootani without sound then go to a black screen. No reason to try at the moment, but thought I would test it for you all.
my VZW tab now with Sprint EF17 baseband and 2.3.4 ROM too,it works great, and fixed the gps which didn't work at first.

When you say you have those sprint modems on your verizon tab do you mean with data working??

or you can do this to update your Verizon tab, thanks for this release... plus removed a lot of the bloatware! This will hold me over until the Honeycomb release...

edit: not working yet, freezes when flashing

Keep in mind that it may be saying that because, as far as the Sprint rom is concerned, you may be "roaming" on VZ bands. Who knows though.
Is that sprint gb rom rootable, if verzion releases gb within our life time will I be able to return to their rom?

[Q] Running T-mobile ROMS?

Anyone running T-mobile roms on your canadian or att phones? i am wondering about your experiences and if it is possible. I have read several threads saying yes its possible, and some saying "are you crazy?" so am confused. it looks to me like they have the same hardware, so as long as you do not flash a modem, you should be okay?? someone correct me if i am wrong.
I'm running a T-mobile rom on my att s4

I've been running one since Loki was released. Haven't even tried an AT&T, not a big selection to choose from right now

I'm using a T-Mobile rom called wicked v3 with the loki kernel. The only thing is, it was only 4g if i wanted LTE i had to fix the apn and then reboot. I saw LTE after that and been on it ever since.

I have tested and ran roms from ALL other carriers on the US ATT device. Just kept adding and tweaking until they were worthy of a daily.

Confused

Im looking to leave Sprint for greener pastures. I'm on their Note 2 at the moment and figure I'll go with the Note 3 if/when I switch carriers. I was reading to make sure that the Verizon Note 3 would be rootable. As it stands, I'm very confused as to whether or not this device is able to be rooted. I'm an avid root user. I don't want to be stuck with a phone that I cannot root and control. I keep reading conflicting threads saying the phone can be rooted or can't be rooted. At this point, I would like to make the carrier switch within the next week, so I just need a definite "yes" or "no" as far as rooting.

Thanks for the reply. Is the bootloader UNlockable? And how does that affect the phone when trying to flash new ROMs?

Well we have a recovery call SS aka SafeStrap. That allows us to flash custom roms. But we currently can't flash custom kernels nor AOSP roms for now.... ONLY CUSTOM TOUCHWIZ ROMS can be flashed in SafeStrap! Hope that clears everything out for you

Ok. that makes sense now. with sprint AOSP roms were horrible with data so I usually avoided them. although decks reloaded was awesome on the Evo 4G.
what are the chances that we'll be able to unlock the bootloader? Im hoping the switch to verizon will greatly improve my data quality then maybe an AOSP rom will be an option.

Slim to none on the bootloader being unlocked. I recently made the switch from Sprint to Vzw myself as i couldnt deal with Sprint's horrible service anymore. Best move i could have made.

how'd you get an unlimited data plan?
I usually root so I can use the mobile hot spot. I also like to have full control. I would prefer to be able to root.
I found it on craigslist look for someone that is selling their unlimited line then you have to just do an assumption of liability and ur set. I can even use hotspot wifi without root....for me this phone is such a beast along with the best network that i feel im in control and nothing else is needed

Hey man, glad to see were back on the same devices! I came from e4gt
Also as it stands now you can flash roms via safestrap and root but we won't have a custom kernel or any aosp roms until we have an unlocked bootloader (maybe never)

Upgrade or no?

So, heres my situation and Im hoping someone can give me a good answer.
I am currently on a ATT GS4, on MF3. I have NOT upgraded from this version before because I had rooted and then enabled tethering on my phone. Since I did this, I have moved to Tmobile and it's a non-issue since it seems that tethering on a ATT GS4 is impossible to get working on Tmobile.
I have also flashed the AWS enabled radio to my phone. My question is if I install the latest ATT update will that remove the AWS compatible radio or is that not an issue? Also, whats the best way to upgrade to the latest version given my situation?
Thanks in advance for all your help!

If you flash the mk2 tar files it will erase everything on your phone except the ext sd card. The all in one guide has everything you need. You should be able to re-flash the AWS radio after you upgrade I imagine.

I appreciate your repsonse, do you know for sure if the later updates prevent the radio flashing, I ask because I tried flashing a friend of mines radio on his GS4 and couldnt do it and Im pretty sure he was on a newer version.

There are a number of custom roms for mk2 that require flashing the proper modem to get LTE to work, so obviously mk2 doesn't stop one from flashing radios.. Look at the guide and see.
