[Help] Is this malware?! - Droid X General

Recently my market has been acting wierd, saying I have no downloaded apps when I obviously do. It still did this even after an sbf. (I'll include screenshots) I also just now found a weird market app on my homescreen, I clicked on it and it took me to a site saying here's the new market for your Galaxy Nexus. (I have a DroidX) I also recently sbfed so I'm not sure why I have this problem as it has never happened before. Anyone can help?

Good Luck
i keep coming up with it being part of droid dream aka mother of all malware guessing it is on your sd card try wiping your sd card clean clean like nothing then sbfing or sbfing with a different one. GL

Just a random thought... if you are running ics, I believe there is a setting in the android market that installs Widgets to your home screen... unselect that in settings..... maybe that's the root of all that evil... had to unselect that option when I installed ics on my galaxy tab... never seen it before must be something new with ics market version

Gingerbread keyboard

Hi
Downloaded & installed the gingerbread keyboard for non-rooted devices from xda (gbkb-en.apk).
The install appeared to be successful & i've been into keyboard settings & ticked the box, but still uses the 2.2 keyboard. Tried a restart but no change.
As mentioned, un-rooted & on 2.2.1 os.
Any ideas?
Figured it out, feel free to call me a spaz
You forgot to long press on a text input box to switch keyboards ......... you spaz lol

Does this have a phone keypad layout or just qwerty?
Just qwerty i believe

Tried installing it twice, restarted and re-installed again. All set up, but when I open the keyboard and click the first button to select a letter.... it just always force closes.

Had the same problem. Did you install the one from the market, or from here? I think i have the one from the market, and it's working just fine now.
I use the Steven Lin one which works nicely.

For anyone interested in trying it, go to this QR code and then scroll down in the market to the Free version in the `Related' apps section. If you like that you can opt to get the paid/donate one at any time. A couple of screen shots here.

Seeing this too. A little wary on whether or not I want to install it.
Just found this:

Looks like we're in the clear.

Even so, I can't say I'm happy about Facebook forcing me to update with what ever permissions it chooses.
I can see me uninstalling it very soon...
My coworker had the same thing, only her download froze. Couldn't tell what was going on, so we killed about every app on the phone trying to get it to stop (plus rebooting, uninstalling FB, etc). Finally figured out it was actually doing it thru Downloads, not the Play Store.
That's the straw that broke the FB camel's back for me... uninstalled the app and went back to using the mobile website. I like it better anyways.

T-Mobile OTA for Stagefright

Woke up this morning to find an OTA to fix Stagefright from T-Mobile. It's still 5.0.1 and it doesn't look like it fixes all the vulnerabilities. It does up the baseband version which hopefully will fix some issues I've been having with receiving SMS messages .

Downloaded it, haven't noticed anything different yet. Lag is still mostly there.
The OTA seems to be 148MB, but the N915TUVU1BOG2 update is 1.82GB.
EDIT:
nevermind, i think the OTA is just the new files which made up BOG2.
Downloaded the update and the Stagefright detector app still says my phone is vulnerable...uh what?
Sent from my SM-N915T using Tapatalk
YesSir ! _ same here. I wiped my phone and installed the full N915TUVU1BOG2 rom - the two Goole Playstore Apps "certif-gate scanner" and "StageFright Detector" still reports the phone is vulnerable.
So I wiped the phone again and installed the previous full rom: N915TUVU1BOD7 and after that did the T-Mobile OTA update (148MB) to BOG2 - same problem - the phone is still vulnerable.
I do not know who to believe - the apps or T-Mobile/Samsung.
Can anyone tells us techies "were to look for the vulnerablilities" - I did Google searches - but is seems like no-one really knows what to look for..... (or else I just keep missing it). I found some apk's referred to on some LG devices, but I could not find those apk's on my Samsung phones.
I used a Rooted app from some Dev on the Playstore for $1...to not only detect but to block

Software update available. Tap to install new software.

Day 2 with my S5 and after I was able to root/safestrap/bb on version OK3 - 5.0
this notification does not go away
its like it wants me to force install pretty sure this is the verizon 6.0.1 update I read about?
either way I do not want to loose my root privileges, or all my data took me all day to migrate apk+data to this phone
anyway to disable this from showing or what do I do now...
Downloaded system app remover app from Google Play and then uninstall OTA updater app in system apps

Yeah. I knew it could be disabled somehow, but didn't know the name of the app.
TiBackup saved my ass so many times.
still not happy with the phone, but I didn't have to pay full retail for it so its whatever. better than my last handset for sure tho.

Update released to cripple Note 7 in US

I'm sure most of us knew this was coming https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/04/software-update-will-annoy-galaxy-note-7-owners-into-a-return/
I have my updates on "manual" and I was able to deflect the attempt that still managed to almost start. I ended u hitting later. I was wondering if anyone knew how to disable these updates from popping up via Root explorer which I think I seen before.
Thanks

They got me. I stopped the update but when I restarted my phone it was bootlooping. I cannot find the PHE (last "green battery" firmware) update anywhere. Looks like I'm returning my phone tomorrow. It has been a good fight.
That sucks. That same thing happened to me when I got my second Note 7 and the update installed on its own. I think we'll all have to give in at some point. This waterproof body and camera, better radio and a bunch of other crap has me refusing to give in. My rooted Note 3 is waiting..
After installing and running the disabler app I noticed a "Setup Wizard" app icon in my app drawer. Wth is it? Don't remember seeing this prior and uninstall is blocked.
Anybody know if rooting Note 7 will help get rid of the 60% limiter and also all the popup wanting you to return your Note 7 if so instructions please.
