I'm on TexasIce's ICS ROM (p4) and while it claims to activate Facebook sync, it doesn't sync any contacts to my phone.
Anyone else face this problem? Any other workarounds?
I'm on p3 now, cause my wifi didnt work on p4, so I never got to test the facebook sync, but I did see that you could add facebook as an account in the people app
FB sync working fine on the new P5 build. One issue though is that the FB contact pictures that get downloaded are all low res. Not a big deal but something I thought I should point out.
FB sync worked fine for me in p4 and p5.

Upgraded to the new version of Froyo 'Android 2.2 (FroYo) On HTC [03 Sep 2010] (V1.6) ' and when I go to add account, I choose Facebook, and after a slight pause, returns to the General synch settings page, but no Facebook.
Worked fine on previous release of 2.1.
I downloaded Facebook from Market.
Any advice would be appreciated, possibly I have the wrong version for the phone??

Could this be because of a 'non-existing' link between the sync settings and the facebook app?
(Maybe because of some recent facebook app update?)
The facebook app itself works by the way, (notifications, widget, app etc) But it would be nice to sync contacts etc as well (A)
It doesn't work in mine either. (UK O2 Streak with official 2.1 update.)
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon as I liked how it automatically downloaded a profile picture for every contact in my phone.
A little reading may have a clue...
Althought I cannot confirm, it appears there's 2 versions fo facebook available for us.
Facebook for Android or HTC Facebook for Sense. I recon I must have had HTC Facebook before which does synch the contacts..
Anyone confirm this??? Anywhere to download and test HTC Facebook for Sense??

I'm now in XDANDROID FRX04 with the latest facebook from the market and have the same problem, facebook does not sync the contacts.
Does someone make it work?
Does someone have a working apk of HTCFacebook?
Does not work for me either with XDAndroid FRX04 or Froyo X Red.
Right now i am using: SyncMyPix to sync Facebook contacts on my phone until this problem is resolved.
If the problem is between facebook app and phone contacts, perhaps it's because google blocked that feature. If it's between the app and facebook, no idea, it works for me.

Excess threads muck up the forum.
Simple enough. I can't make my Facebook contacts sync, at all.
Obviously the Facebook app doesn't sync, that can be fixed with a build.prop edit I think, but I don't wanna deal with that.
The TouchWiz integration syncs calendar fine, but refuses to sync contacts. I've removed my account and readded it and it still won't work, just says sync is unavailable right now. It blows!
Also, since I updated to DI07 I have no protected apps available in the Market. How do I know? Search for Gameloft and see if you find anything. Or iDemolish, you can only find the free version. Again, another build.prop edit but I wanna know if it's just me.

I've had my phone since June I think? Anyways, I've never wanted it to sync w/ Facebook so my contact info is available and I didn't want contact info for the people on Facebook so I never set that up... Well after this update that uncapped the FPS blah blah, I'm now synced w/ Facebook???!!! I'm pretty pissed off about that, anyone else have that happen? I know I can go an change the settings in Facebook so info is not shared but it should have never been capable of happening in the first damn place.

Yea I don't understand what the complaint is either.
It did sync w/ the contacts on Facebook and I definitely did not want that.... I've certainly logged into Facebook from time to time from my phone but never had it setup to sync my information, as it did after this update.
not sure if anyone else is having this issue..but after i updated to the ota 2.2 froyo, i noticed all my contacts used their old photos instead of the ones synced with facebook.... so does that mean i have to automatically go through each contact and click default picture to facebook???
i already deleted my fb accounts and redid it many times..restarted phone..same issue...fb wont auto sync the new photos as default, so i have to go through my contacts manually to use the updated fb pics...
That's odd. I'm not sure but I think the Facebook app's syncing is goofy.
For instance here's the hoops I had to jump through.
With original 2.1, I had used the integrated Facebook contact syncing to get pics synced to my contacts. And that worked no problem.
When DK28 came out, I took the opportunity to reset my phone and redo my contacts. This time I figured "hey, the actual Facebook app contact syncing should work good so I'll use that instead". And on the surface it did. In my contacts list the proper Facebook pic was on each contact. The problem was that any txts or phone calls I either sent or received, the photos were absent...just the generic blank silhouette. So I removed the Facebook contact sync from my accounts and went back to using the the Facebook syncing from the "Integrated contact accounts" once more and now photos are displaying in txt/phone properly.
Odd that the Facebook client syncing appeared on the surface to be fine but maybe this will help you or others trying to get this to work. In your case maybe the old pics still there show up with the Facebook client sync. Hopefully the integrated Facebook sync will clear it up for you.

I have a different problem with the FB app since upgrading to DK28, but I wasn't sure if it deserved its own thread.
I can no longer stay logged in to my account. It works the first time and then every subsequent time I open the app I have to re-enter my password.
Anyone else?

i tried..it didnt solve the problem..... like i mentioned i redid the facebook accounts and restarted phone etc...didnt work....
i think its from the exporting my contacts to sd card.... it saves the current picture before exporting..so perhaps i exported my contacts several times and it saved the same default picture under the phone settings... so when i integrated my facebook in 2.2, the old photos were showing..so i had to manually erase all of the old saved photos.... i couldnt find a way to automatically do it... if you still can find the posts/threads, please post it here
Is it me or are the contact photos synced from facebook (integrated Facebook sync or through Facebook app) are low resolution? Anyway we can fix this or is this just another issue with Google?
I recently updated to the new 2.2 that was officially released through Kies for the Samsung Vibrant. Everything was working fine and after a long process I finally got my Facebook and Twitter synced to my contacts on the correct people. Now, after about a week, the sync is having trouble and sort of unsynced people on it's own. So I thought, maybe if I removed the account and re-added it. Well, not it won't even log in.
Anyone else having this problem or had this problem and found a solution? Help would be greatly appreciated.
My facebook account wont sync either as of this afternoon. however the actual facebook for android app works fine. go figure
