Best universal IM client

What's the best universal IM chat client? Something that lets me transfer files and/or pictures. Maybe even video calls? I was using ebuddy but I don't think you can transfer files/pictures there. File/picture transfer is more important that video call. Im currently using mercury for msn and the standard yahoo messenger. Both have picture transfer and yahoo has video call, but I hate having to switch between the two. And mercury layout is ugly.
Thanks.

I totally second that. Had em with my iphone n blackberry
How about whatsapp?
Whatsapp is very useful when chatting with other phones, and I use ebuddy for msn, gtalk, fbchat. Before I used trillian but wasn't too stable, so whatsapp + ebuddy does it for me!

i gotta go trillian, its free
i used beejive on the iphone, while its very nice interface, and highly customizable, i noticed that messages would be greatly delayed sometimes and had connection drop issues. knowing that going into the android world, i didnt buy it a second time and waited patiently for trillian

Best Video Chat Solution

I've tried Fring and had choppy results. I've also tried Tango with minimal success. What's the opinion of the board as to what the best video chat solution is? I have WiFi and 3G/4G available to me so take that into consideration in that bandwidth isn't a problem. Ideally I'd like to be able to chat with my buddy in Spain via my phone to him on his computer. Thanks in advance.

2.2 and yahoo video worked flawless for me.
ooVoo works well for me. It has both desktop & phone apps, and is free. I'm on rooted stock DI18, but it should work on anything.

Well use Yahoo messenger then, both desktop and mobile do video calling but only on froyo. Anyway from what i can figure Yahoo has the most bandwidth for it because it's been working great for me with low 3g

thyat was a good question cause ive tried tango, qik, and fring and they all suck. never tried yahoo messenger though
Got to second the ooVoo recommendation. Quality is great. I haven't tried an actual call with Yahoo, but did notice that the box showing your camera is sideways...

Video callin isn't gonna be practical until its baked into the os. Even winmo 6.5 has a video call option! I hope 2.4 has it baked in...
My friends nokia that he bought from a european store downtown had a video calling feature in the call menu...and this was in '08 lol

Second for this one. It's a much smaller footprint and better, faster video than yahoo is. The FFC rotation works the way it should, too.
The biggest question for what video chat to use is what your friends and family are using. I've spent years trying to get my parents and siblings to figure skype out and am finally getting some progress. Trying to get them to switch to yahoo or some other jazz would be impossible.
Google talk really needs to come out with video support on desktop, browser and mobile. I think they would be comfortable with that.

Video chat on cm7?

Anyone know an app to use for video chat on cm7? I tried qik but it force closes constantly
Tango works for me

I used to use Fring, but since it requires additional setup, and drains the battery, gave up on it. Tango seems to be working pretty well though.

App suggestions?

I used to use whatsapp to text with my wife for free when I'm out of the country. But our one year is up and can't really justify paying twice for it for the amount we use it. Is there an alternative to whatsapp that doesn't slaughter battery life? I was going to go with kik messenger but it was causing massive drain in my testing..just running in the background. Also tried IMSY and I think its garbage.
Would love others opinions were also looking to video chat if we can since I now have a ffc. But she will be on the PC. Are skype and tango the best choices?
Wish there was an all in one app that could text/call/video call over wifi with android users as well as pc...does it exist?
Btw I'm looking for something to use on my acer iconia A100 for video chat, I would also like to use some sort of messaging/call app on my DZ, the biggest problem I've seen is most of the apps require u to register with your phone number thus locking the app to just my DZ as my tab is wifi only...no way to register and use the same profile..
Hope this makes sense guys.. thanks for any input

well, next to whatsapp im using IM+ as "all in one app" for texting icq, msn, jabber, facebookchat (skype can be used too if original skype installed)
i dont do video calls but one time when i tried that i had to do that directly within the skype app because IM+ didnt support video..
a quick look in the market for free video-call apps: tango, qik, kakaotalk
Hmmm thanks for the suggestions....the search is on!

In case someone else is looking for the same apps, i going with tango for voice and video calling (free) and live profile (free) for messaging
Check them out! Cheers!

[Q] Push email on stock Rom unrooted

Dear friends...
One of the very few disadvantages of this fantastic device is that the stock email app doesnt support push for more than one hotmail account.
(or windowslive or live etc)
Appart from the main account, the others use manual fetch. (Only the time periods for fetch can be adjusted)
I've tested a number of apps and the only one that seems to be working properly with push and no problems is Touchdown HD.
The problem is that this app is a little expensive (after the 30 day trial)
Any other recommendations verified to be working?
Please keep in mind that for the time being I don't intend on rooting the device so all suggestions should be for the stock phone.
My device is the international version.
Thanks

I use outlook.com app for hotmail (official microsoft email app).
I syncs everything and gives you push email. However I dunno if it supports more than 1 account.

Wow! I just read the comments on the play store and they are horrible. I just remembered this is why I didn't download this app when I was looking. Someone even mentions that they blocked his account after some confusion. A bit of a gamble this one....
