First off the phone has a japanese rom on it, does anyone here know how to take of the USIM lock, so that an english rom can be flashed onto the phone. Problem is the phone locks up almost as soon as u turn it on. If you turn it on without a sim card then You can unlock it with 000 and it will call 911 but with a sim card the only way it will unlock is if you have an incoming phone call if someone can HELP me please!!! 1

You need to post some more details. Hermes will boot to OS normally without any SIM card at all - even if network locked.
Is it freezing in Windows or freezing at the turn on screen or before that stage?
Are you booting into Windows successfully?
Is this the device lock set to time out after zero seconds?
Have you tried a hard reset to "cure" the problem?

i had the same problem, then my phone ended up PUK locked for some bizarre reason. and guess what? even when you have the PUK number you can't unlock it from the G1. so i had to put my simcard in my old nokia 3330 D) and unlock it from there.
yeah, basically i'd leave the sim lock alone if i were you lol. ><

Thanks for your advice my friend got his simcard locked on his G1 and I'm just try to do what he did :S
i probably just did it wrong when i tried.

Need help .. I've got a HTC HD from a mate.. it had fallen in water and stopped working.. I got it fixed .. however it needs screen password to get in. My mate has forgotten the password .. the guy fixing the phone needs the password to get in and test it properly. The phone was bound with Telstra .. but was un-locked.
Now 2 questions:
1. Is there a way to unlock the phone without the PIN.
2. If not, will hard resetting it will again lock the phone with Orange ?
Any help/suggestion is appreciated. Thx in Advance.

I don't think there is a way to unlock without the pin. However, hard resetting the device will not lock it back to orange, DON'T WORRY

I am recording my experience here for others to see.
I had an HTC HD2 Leo with WM6.5 locked to Orange. I had updated it to Pure Gingerbread gpc and then to BoyPPC. I then purchased (see * below) a code to unlock the phone so that I could use a 'three' 3GB SIM.
The code was accepted as "Network unlock successful", but I got no service, no networks, no APNs - nothing - and the phone reported "Error while searching for networks". Furthermore I had to enter the unlock code each time I booted from cold and when I switched airplane mode off.
Chris10230 suggested something was not being saved properly and I should restore the phone to its original state and try again.
However, I tried WP7 with similar results ie "PIN accepted" when entering the unlock code, when using the connection set up app I got "Warning There is no SIM card or PIN code has not been input". Again I had to repeat entering the code.
Eventually I put WM6.5 back on the phone entered the unlock code and everything appeared to work properly ie I had a service from 'three' and did not need to re-enter the code.
In summary with an Orange HTC HD2 there is a problem unlocking under Android and WP7 while WM6.5 works fine.
I hope these notes are useful to someone. Don't expect more from me on this as I have just strated learning about Android and SmartPhones.

Well I have never unlocked my phome but from what I have been told by others here on XDA you have to use Windows Mobile to SIM unlock your HD2 as it is the native OS and is the only OS that can properly SIM unlock the HD2. I do not know this for 100% truth but my assumption on this is to properly SIM unlock your HD2 the OS has to be able to interface with the boot partition of the NAND memory or more spacificaly the IPL of bootloader. Seeing that Android or WP7 really do not have a interface capobilities with the boot partition or IPL of the HD2 it can not reset the values in the IPL to make the unlock permanent. I could be totally wrong though I am just going on what I do know about how the HD2 works, if I am please chime in and straightin me out as I would like to know. For one to see if I am right and two to find out what the real reason is.

I have a Tmobile HD2 and when I tried entering the unlock code via Windows Phone 7 7720, it came pin accepted but the phone was *STILL* SIM locked. However, when I flashed the stock WM6.5 Tmobile rom (got from the Tmobile site) back into it, the moment I entered the unlock code it immediately unlocked with everything working
Heads up to any Tmobile user facing the same problem

yes it will forever remain unlocked, no matter what you do to it.
It needs to be on WinMo to unlock it? But I was able to put in the unlock code from T-mobile on NAND Android and use a FarEasTone SIM card just fine though.

I don't think it was. I bought it on Craiglist here in the US and it was locked to T-mobile, so I asked the original owner to get the unlock code for me. I knew it was locked because when I put my FarEasTone SIM in, it prompted me for the unlock code. I put the code in [ I was on a Runnymede Sense ROM if that makes any difference], and I've tried it with my friend's AT&T SIM as well, and it works [ on 2G only of course, but still]. It's remained fine as well when changing from NAND Android to WM 6.5 to Mango.

thanks for this hepled me out . i had wp7 and it said password accepted then said pin required again. so did as you said and its all good now, back on wp7 with a unlocked htc hd2.
just want to say thanks to everyone on here i have found out so much and done so much to my phones and i couldnt have done it if it wasnt for this site

Hey guys, I have had this problem and just found this thread after the fact. I may have spammed the code a little bit in frustration...22 times...
Now that I have reflashed stock WM it says i have to wait until timeout. Any idea if it is permanently locked or if I just have to bunker down and wait it out? Thanks so much.

Never encountered this personally, but as I heard, you should maintain it powered on and just have some patience...
Thinking it twice, you should be lucky to work after (just) 22 times!
Depends on the phone, some lock for a few hours after 5 attempts then accept another 5 then lock for longer, some take 10 then another ten a few hours later, but in most cases (never seen it, just what I've read) after so many tries they can only be unlocked by hardware cable.
No idea what the numbers and times are for the hd2 though.

I have done an HD2 on 8 failed code attempts but not experienced beyond this.
If you can wait, give it 2 or 3 days, if in hurry or code input does not come available find a local cable & software unlock specialist.

I've bought brand new LG G2 D802 32GB from ebay india. So far i'm very impressed with this beast's performance. However i'm unable to get my simcard to work. It says "No sim card " on lock screen. Also when i dial " 2945#*802# " and tries to tap on network lock. I get this message
It says : This phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked, Same thing on all other options in that menu,Seriously ? this is international version and supposed to be unlocked ?
My network provider is Airtel (sim type - GSM)
Is there any way to get out of this ? My sim card works fine on other phones so it's LG's issue here.
Software version is D80210F-sea-xx Jelly bean 4.2.2

Turn off the phone completely, taken out sim and pop in again and wait 2 minute before powering it on again. Doesn't work.
Factory reset - Doesn't work.
What should i do ? Any workaround ? Is my phone Hard locked ?Does gold color has anything to do with this ? I barely see it in online reviews!

"permanently locked" and "bought on ebay" doesnt smells right to me.....
Try other SIMs...but I think you maybe got scamed......
Nope, i haven't try other sims yet. I got only one Micro sim. I don't think i've got scammed. The seller sold over 20 phones in less than 24 hours. He has 99% positive rating too. I'll contact him about this issue too. ATM i'm looking for some DIY fix. Will root solve my problem ? I heard you can do some tweaks in EFS partition to get unlock!
Further more i read somewhere that you need to type unlock code atleast 10 times to get this happen. Seriously ? I didn't typed even a single time since there is no such option available!
