I have a rooted kindle using Go Launcher. I've picked a Go Launcher wallpaper but when I swipe to different homescreens the wallpaper does not scroll. Is there a way to get it to scroll?

Were you able to find a solution for this? I know what you mean. I'm running the fire with go launcher, i fixed it so the wallpaper doesn't reset or anything and live wallpapers work. However they do not scroll when switching screens left or right. Anybody out there know how to fix it?
...Didn't want to repost so I just put it down again here.
I've been trying to figure out the wallpaper scrolling since mid december. Sadly I don't know Android well enough to know where the control for it is hidden or what might be missing from the Amazon stock rom that breaks that function. Still poking through CM7 and trying to see which of the thousands of differences is responsible.
Yeah I have been looking it up for a while now too. Will post if I find an answer. It would certainly be welcomed.

Hey all,
So I am not new to Android, but I am new to using a launcher or anything other than regular apps. I want to try the ADW launcher, but I have some questions since I don't really know anything about how launchers work.
Can someone explain to me the very basics of what installing a launcher will do? Also, if I don't like it or don't understand it, can I uninstall and not have to hard reset?
Is there a how-to for using ADW?
Thanks ahead of time!
Install it thru the Android market place just search adw launcher and if you don't like it uninstall like any other app from the Android market

So I can just uninstall and not have to do any reset?
Can you explain to me what a launcher does (briefly)?
Sorry for such a basic question, but hey we all have to learn sometime.
Thanks!
go hear its anderwebs dev page the dev for adw launcher. it should be able to tell you everything about the launcher and show you some picture of what it looks like and what it does. but yea just install from android market and if you dont like just uninstall like any other app without having to reset your device just go to market/downloads then uninstall.

hears a video of it to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5gRgpuQE_k&feature=fvst
the version in this video is 0.7.1 and it is now on 0.7.8 so theres been plenty of new features since then
I really appreciate the info. I installed it this morning, but couldn't even figure out how to change the settings. I read the instructions on adw's page so I might try again.
My calendar widget wouldn't work and there were also only 5 screens instead of 7. Can you have 7?
Maybe I need to mess with it more. I guess I'm just not sure of the benefits of using it. Will it help my battery last longer? Will the MTS be faster? Or is it more of an aesthetic thing?
thnx
I didn't have any problems with it other than lag here and there. It might just need the dev to do a bit of fine tunning, or could be me with my luck. Nice interface. Good features, and a lot of flexibility. I do like sense though and I think I will just deal with all of TMobiles extra crap for the time being. All in all a great replacement though.
Press the menu key while on the home screen, then you can select the ADW settings. You can have 7 screens if you want.
The HTC Sense widgets will not work outside of the sense launcher.

also keep in mind that My Modes function will not work with a launcher program. I tried Helix, ADW, and launcherpro and since they seem to be just a "skin" so the apps don't rearrange and stuff when you change modes. It meesses it up. Then when you uninstall you have to set up modes again. Just FYI, not sure if you use the modes or not.
Thanks for all of the info. I don't use modes, but I do like the widgets, particularly calendar and weather. Being able to see what I have to do every day right on the home screen(s) is very helpful!

And for the weather/clock I am using beautiful widgets. There are options out there
Hi,
I have a rooted kindle fire & I have set up ADW Launcher EX as my daily driver. I have a weird problem whereby the wallpaper changes every time I unlock my device. This is really annoying as some of the backgrounds are really bright and it becomes difficult to read and see the screen.
Even if i set a wallpaper on my own, as soon as I unlock the device the wallpaper again changes.
Please advise what to do?
Thanks!!
I just tested this on mine as well. It appears to use whatever image is used in the unlock screen. I would be curious to see if there is a folder of images that the unlocker uses that could be tweaked to include custom images. Perhaps of I have time today or this weekend ill poke around the filesystem and see if this is the case. If you find out anything definitely post it up though I would be interested in fixing this on mine as well.

Yes, same situation with unrooted KF

Of note, WidgetLocker has been updated to work around this if you've rooted. The wallpaper replacement was taking place entirely in the lock screen it seems. Bypass that and no more wallpaper changes.

Will this work on a non-rooted KS?
Never mind. In order to run WidgetLocker, it must be rooted. My bad!!!
Hi all. Head over to this thread for a quick and simple solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375825
You must be rooted.
Hope it helps.

I tried the suggested mod - first I changed wallpaper to just a simple jpg that I had (I'm using ADW EX launcher). Then, before I even had a chance to use the method, the wallpaper immediately reverted back to one of the ugly Amazon wallpapers. I am rooted (BurritoRoot) and on 6.21
Does this method depend on the nature of the jpeg image because for the life of me, I cannot get a wallpaper to stick.
There's an app called rotating wallpaper that if set up correctly will fix this. Works without root. It will update the wallpaper every minute to keep your wallpaper intact. Its not perfect but works pretty well.

Hey docfreed, I don't know whether there is a difference with what type of image file you use. I'm personally currently running go launcher ex and using its live wall papers with no problem after using the method I suggested. In your case maybe change the permissions and then change the wallpaper? I'm curious how that works out for you. Wish I could be more helpful.

Maybe I'll switch to Go Launcher and give it a try - it maybe something in ADW EX. But let me ask, do you chmod to 550 first or change the wallpaper first? 'cause I cannot get the wallpaper to stay at all - after I set it to my own jpeg, it changes almost instantly - could that be the pernmissions on the wallpaper file?

docfreed, so before I solved the problem, I'd switch wallpaper, whether it was a Live Wallpaper from Go Launcher Ex or a simple jpeg from my albums, the wallpaper would stick and stay, but as soon as I turned off the fire and back on, the stock wallpaper would return (which is the problem this thread is trying to resolve). I never experienced an immediate re-switch like you are.
When I tried out the solution (changing the permissions in the wallpaper folder in /data/data/com.android.settings/files), I first changed to a Live Wallpaper, then changed the permissions, and haven't had a problem since.
In your case, since you get the immediate re-switch, try changing the permissions first THEN change your wallpaper and see if that helps.
Let us know if that works, hope it does!
I understand how frustrating not being able to control wallpapers is.
Good day,
Is there a way to lock the layout and remove some of the pages? I only use 1 page and do not want the icons to change on my homescreen. but when I search all I can seem to find is the damn lock orientations junk that is over talked about on the web. Can someone tell me if that is coming to the nexus 7? is there a setting somewhere that I am missing? Or, do I have to install a different homescreen app?
Thanks in advance,
supersobbie
Nova Launcher Does exactly what your looking for.... Nova prime is awesome on the nexus 7
I'm surprised not to see any posts on this.... if you use Apex or Nova and then add the stock weather widget it works but its really zoomed in. For example when its a clear night outside there is a nice picture of a lone tree with a starry sky above it. But on the other launchers its zoomed in on a small section of the sky and you cant even tell there is supposed to be a tree in it. I have the same grid size on both/all launchers and have tried both bigger and smaller grids but always with the same result.
Is there a way to make it work?
I couldn't so I tried a few which are nice.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.ezweather
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droid27.transparentclockweather
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devexpert.weather
Yeah we've looked through most of those... unfortunately my wife seems pretty set on the stock one
Maybe I'll try the dev of the Launchers as I'm sure they would know what is going on
No response from the Devs (didnt expect one).... if anyone finds anything the info would be greatly appreciated

The first one, EZ Weather HD Beautiful Widget actually looks like a widget which wasn't designed in 1996.
Great find young sire.
Hi,
so kind of a 2 point topic.
First is more of an inconvenience. As you know you can set the lockscreen wallpaper from the stock launcher. But if you happen to use another launcher (like probably many of us), there is no way to access that setting.
Second point, don't know if it has to do with the first, within the background settings there is an option to get "Shot on Oneplus 5" images changed daily as your background. I activated this setting, but it doesn't work, the background never changes.
Question is, is this a bug? Or does it not work because I run Nova Launcher instead of the stock one?
Has someone seen this feature in action?

On the first point, also found it a bit confusing, at the end I went through Google Photos gallery and did set the wallpaper that way (for both lock- and home-screens).
