Goodbye, Farewell, Arrivederci, Adiós, See ya!

Right, bad new for me... My MD has decided today that everyone has to have a BB 9900, so my S2 which was going to be with me tomorrow is no more... To say I'm upset and pissed off would be an understatement, but alas, nothing I can do about it...
So if I hang around here beyond now it would be seen as a bit weird and creepy, so it's goodbye all... I won't miss the repetitive posts and questions, but I will miss the great humour and pen craft...
Developers keep developing, users start reading...

PM brother...

New BB arrived today, still hasnt been configured but I had a quick play...
Design is the usual, but back to the original width so larger than the recent ones... It is the thinnest one ever though... Feels well built and looks pretty smart... Keyboard does feel like the best BB one yet, but the keys above them are shiny so show fingerprints... Back is weird if you ask me... The battery cover is basically clear plastic/glass over a textured surface, again finger prints, but different I suppose...
Now then, OS7... What can I say? Same'ol'same old...As crap as ever but with a brand new lick of paint... Touchscreen works, but I just thought, what's the point really...
Read a post over at crackberry and some guy got rid of his S2 for one of these things... We might have some intellectually challenged members, but what does that make him?!
Anyway, I'd like to introduce you all to a great new charity... It's called the 'Get Caspa an S2 as his work decided to get him a BB 9900 at the last minute Fund', a great cause as he shouldn't have to suffer in this way... I'm sure you'll agree...
Rest assured, 100% of donations will go to the fund and remember, YOU can make a real difference in Caspa's life...

Don't you have a mobile of your own mate or do you just rely on your job to provide you with a phone?You can get the GS2 for free on contract in UK if you cant afford to purchase it outright although i always recommend purchasing outright and avoid long contracts.
Even if i had a job that provided a phone id still ensure i had my own phone and it wouldn't be a bloody iPhone or Blackberry either.

Should I trade a Galaxy Tab 7 for a Xoom?

Someone is offering me to trade my 16GB Galaxy Tab 7 3G/Wifi + cash top of SGD$250
- 1 Year old. Warranty over.
- Physical appearance: 8/10 because of some small scratches on the side. Scratches seen on the screen are on the screen protector.
FOR
his 32GB Xoom 3G/Wifi -
- 5 months old.
- 10/10 condition. Placed in otterbox defender case worth USD 90 and Japanese screen protector worth SGD$69
Opinions? Looking at the development of Xoom, it's not really that active huh. Guys I need some opinions Thanks.

The development of the Xoom isn't that active because the Xoom gets it's updates first, and the source for Honeycomb was never released making Cyanogen-esq projects impossible. Now that ICS's has been released, along with the source, I suspect this will change. But even so, the Xoom doesn't need a huge amount beyond rooting and custom kernels, both of which are active projects.
Regarding the deal your associate wishes to make, it's a damn good one. He's after your decrepit Tab 7 in return for his Xoom, which is a far more capable device. So the only issue is if your cool with going through with a deal which will leave the other party at a disadvantage.

Uh... Do it!

That's an amazing deal...take it. There's great, stable roms for the Xoom Honeycomb OS and Android 4/Ice Cream Sandwich is in active development and is already providing a perfectly suitable daily driver (see my signature). Only camera drivers are missing--need binaries from Motorola.

I'm a galaxy tab owner aswell, and would swap the tab for the xoom anyday.
Why does he want the tab? It's a downgrade for him!

Xoom is definitely better than a Samsung Galaxy Tab, especially considering the hideous abomination that is Touchwiz. However, I think you could find a better deal. I don't know about where you live but where I am a quick search on craigslist yielded several LNIB Xooms for less than $300.
You should be able to sell your Galaxy Tab, and then take the $250 that you were going to pay ontop of it for the trade and buy a brand new Xoom. and still have some money left over.
If you are in an area where it's not easy to find high end electronics for sale on the private market then yeah by all means go ahead with the trade...maybe try to get him down to $200 cash ontop of your Galaxy Tab.
Good luck...and BTW we have a nearly fully functional AOSP ICS rom available to us, what more could you want from our devs?

I think the reason there are few Honeycomb roms (though the ones available are very good and stable) is because Honeycomb source code was never released. It's at the end stage. But ICS is going strong!

Thanks for all the input guys. You guys are right. Having one good and stable rom is better than having many average roms. Thanks for your time guys.

I don't know why Google made the decision to withhold the HC source code. I think they should have released it and let the developers decide on what, if anything, to do with it. At this point, there's no point in working with HC since ICS is out there but still....
I'm not a dev myself. Just stating my thoughts on it.

Then ICS was to unify them therefore ICS is open source.

Well guys, what can I say. A year ago, I came to this forum, asked some noobish questions and learned everything I know now about rooting and flashing on my first ever htc device. Now, my phone has a cracked screen and a dysfunctional keyboard, and I'm about to claim insurance on it for a doubleshot.
I'm gonna miss siul's weird ports. I'm gonna miss early builds of unstable gb. I'm gonna miss the friendly devs. I'm gonna miss this little community. But this is my last post in the g2/dz section.

Doubleshot/mt4gs I got news that our phone has reached eta. I'm being bumped up for being an irrepsonsible phone owner ._. Haha

The Doubleshot has a reaaaaally bad keyboard. You're definitely gonna miss that G2 methinks .

Lol, I realize that. But I've had a sidekick 2008 and a g1, so I'm used to adapting to physical keyboards xD but besides that, the doubleshot just has better hardware and software. Its plainly the logical switch when upgrading my phone.
Though I'm thinking of trading it for a sensation just because it's less bulky. I haven't really decided on that yet.

What he said haha. I got the g1 at a time when it was already way outdated (the phone itself was already barely functional), and it was just a holdover till my contract was up. I never bothered to find out what rooting was until I got my g2

Well they all get absolutely blown to shreds but for some reason there was less of the HTC One than other phones such as the GS4 which is made out of plastic, not sure why?

really? i was thinking of buying one till i saw the pics. will have to check it out at a retail store then. Though i have to say im a bloody miser and i dont see myself buying it if it looks anything like the pics.

The design isn't that bad actually. It is different, but I like it. The screen is really spacious and its a fast device. The stock ROM isn't half had either, but I don't like the bkoat carriers ship it with
Personally though, I'd wait. Right now I'd say it is the best device you can buy, but others are planned ftom other OEMs
