[Q] Poor battery life - Acer Iconia A500

I'm really disappointed by the battery life of my a500. It lasts no more than 2 days with Wifi disabled when display is off. I use it only 1 hour a day ...
This tablet is just 6 month old ... do you have the same problems ?
Do you think it could be returned under warranty ?

If I don't use mine much and I have WLAN off it lasts for about 2 weeks. So no, I do not have that issue.
Have you installed a custom ROM?
Have you checked what applications you have running in the background?
If you're running stock ROM, is it still 3.0.1 or have you updated?

That's not good
I get at least 6 hours continuous use from mine,I'd certainly take it back if you rule out something causing unusual battery drain.

I had similar problem with my a100. No matter how I had my sync settings set or what apps I removed it was still getting horrible battery life. Did a factory reset and battery life went back to how it should have been.
On my a500 however, battery has been great. I usually get 2 and a half days without turning off wifi or changing a thing, and with moderate usage. You may want to check sync settings for all of your apps.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

It isn't rooted and with the last version of stock rom 3.2. I'll make a factory reset tonight and check it the battery lasts longer.
I wonder if the battery is covered by the warranty ...

Man, my iPad lasts for 2 weeks. Normal usage
Seriously, like was advised earlier.
Things that drain the battery'
Live Wallpaper
Display settings
Stupid apps like battery savers, task monitors/killers
GPS
WIFi, especially if it is constantly searching for a connection
Sync's (mail, fb, twitter, just about any social app. Google sync) all of these should be off, or set to a more reasonable time.
Apps that update automatically. Should be set to off in the app settings.
Video and games
Just because the tab is asleep, doesn't mean it stops checking these things when to time requires. Especially if you have an a501 with internal 3g.

Well, I'm also new to Android, but I got some experience. You should use an app call BetterBatteryStat (thread available here, just google that name and "xda developers").
I bet that your wifi is not off when screen off. That setting is useless. On stock 3.2.1, it works. But on both Honeylicious and Thor's ROM, wifi just stay on. Sometime, the tablet stay awake while screen off also.
I suggest using BetterBatteryStat to view detail log of your screen on time and wifi on time vs sleep time. That app also give you some idea about which app is preventing your tablet from sleeping.
Also try TitaniumBackup PRO to freeze some of the included app (like Photo Browser 3D, if you don't use it). I don't accept any app which I rarely use to have a running service (check in setting\application).

So far I have 2 days 11 hours off the charger and am at 65% remaining. This isn't just with no use... Ive used it quite a bit to web browse and check pulse / xda along with not turning wifi off, gps on(shouldnt use much battery anyway) and syncing apps set to 4-6 hours. It's not rooted and has a ton of apps loaded on it, though I try not to have any apps that look like they were made too quickly.

You were right ! A software was using the battery. After the factory reset, the battery lasts much longer. Since sunday i'm still at 77%.

Aye, that's what I thought. Be more careful what you install and get one or another task manager application so you can check for such more easily.

I dont get it........BATTERY DOESNT LAST FOR ****!

So i noticed on my stock battery i get about 10 hours of battery life, when im really not even using it at all besides checking it on my breaks or lunch. For instance i had a full charge at 4:07 pm , disconnected and now have a 70percent charge at 5:44..? really WTF is going on with this phone..? I havent done **** on it but browse. I even bought the verizon extended battery and that thing doesnt last as long as i thought, it dies down in about 8-10 hours tops as well.. Is there something im missing here?
I dont run gps often and neither wifi or bluetooth. Just texting and getting online every now and then....
i do have advanced task manager and do notice almost every program running all the time although i kill it when the programs when i jump on my phone....is this normal? wtf is going on with this thing?

Check for things updating frequently like twitter. Also don't kill them apps they will restart using battery to start it. Just let them run, they actually hibernate till needed.. don't close them.. that's probably killing your battery.
There is a lot of bloat ware that runs in back ground unless you root and uninstall. That is the one think I hate about these phones. I wish I could uninstall the bloat ware with out rooting. Anyway download advanced task killer and set it to kill programs whenever screen is blank. It will save some battery life. I get a day out of mine easy and I talk for at least an hour text at least 20+ a day, have it auto check every 5 min for 2 emails and have quite a few widgets running and surf at least 10 minutes...
I was really hating the battery at first. So much that I bought two non oem batteries from ebay. However, since I rooted AND loaded leaked froyo AND loaded deodexed, re rooted froyo leak through koush's recovery, I am getting through the day with 30% or more when I plug back in at night. The only extra charge is in the car dock for 30 minutes on my ride home from work. Try those steps, and rename bloat. Get rid of atk. I get much better battery life without it.
Just my experience, hopefully you figure it out. I'm a fairly heavy user and love this device.

I have had battery issues in the past. Now I am making it through the day comfortably. I am at 12 hours and 45 minutes and have 40% battery left. That is with wifi on all day. I am not using any task killers. All I did was calibrate the battery. Here is the link I used and it works great. DO NOT DO THE VARIATION. IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME. Do the long version.

Also those china batts go to 10 percent in about 5 hrs but last for another 5...its odd but they are my backups anyway.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Look. The real issues are simple, the display is quite large and pulls more backlight than it needs. Not only that, but the CPU pulls more power than it needs too. I turned off automatic backlight and set it to the lowest setting. I rooted my phone and use setCPU in order to scale back the processor when it's not needed.
Also, web browsing on a 3G network is much more energy consuming. It's just a fact.
As for the apps, they activate because you have widgets on your home screen. If you want to reduce the running programs, replace unneeded widgets with shortcuts. The less programs running, the less power needed for RAM and CPU function.
What do I get in return for all of my modifications? I can use my phone for about 2 days without having to charge.
I can easily go 48 hours on my extended battery with the right settings... YEs this is with 3G on all of the time.
SetCPU is underclocking or "ON DEMAND", I have deleted most apps that come with the phone that one would never use, backlight is on low usually...
If you are sure that you have all of these settings set and still aren't seeing improvement, go to verizon and have them replace your batt.....
I can go 48 hours on the extended battery and I'm not using SetCPU and I typically leave the screen on auto brightness (though I guess I occasionally turn it down).
Yesterday's usage:
Unplugged the phone around 7:30am. Read emails for about 20 minutes in the morning, checked the weather. Listened to some music on my bluetooth headphones on the way to work, maybe 30 minutes. Started up Appbrain on the phone and downloaded/installed the apps over 3G. At lunch, I listened to more music on the way home, browsed the internet for maybe another 30 minutes while I ate, and listened to music on the way back (all bluetooth).
Showed a few coworkers some of my apps, so another 20 minutes or so with the screen on. Occasional email/text throughout the rest of the day.
At home, I sporadically pick up the phone and browse the internet/read emails/send texts. Easily a solid hour+ of browsing. Played a couple games and downloaded a couple more apps.
When I went to bed and plugged the phone in, around 11pm, my battery was at 50%.
More information about my phone:
- The only radio I toggle on and off is Wifi. Everything else stays on all the time. Wifi goes on when I get home.
- Widgets that update themselves are: a calendar widget, a Google Tasks widget, a sports score widget and a weather widget. All widgets with configurable timers are set to update in 30 minute intervals.
- I have ATK installed but only to let me manually kill processes, it has no auto killing intervals set.
- I am running Launcher Pro Plus. Before I installed LPP, I cleared off my entire Blur desktop - there is nothing on it.
- I am rooted and have removed most of the common bloatware - nothing crazy, just the things like CityID, Amazon apps, Blockbuster, etc.
Hope that information helps someone.
Speaking of extended battery and long life, I just got 34 hours out of mine and it was only down to 30%.
I'm using Juice Defender, toggling data for 2m every 15m AND completely shutting off data when I sleep, 1a-7a.
I don't have a lot of background updating apps either, that seems to be a big thing. After figuring out what works and what doesn't regarding battery life, I can use my phone as I please and not worry about batt life.
This thread is crazy my battery last all day and im on the internet atleast 4 hours a day and receive and make multiple phone calls, and text and stuff [email protected] 12.5 hours with 60% of battery left. I did condition the battery when i first got the phone i let it fully discharge 5 times

Bought the 1750mah extended battery. First 6 days the battery didn't last that long but the instructions did say do 8 full charges which last about 7-8 hours. I did that and over the weekend I saw awesome battery life.
Unplugged at 8am. At 10 pm I was at 40% life. That was with some light web browsing, book reading.
One thing that makes a HUGE difference. Are you in a constant 3g area? If your phone drops to 2g/1g and it can't find a signal, it will burn through your battery like crazy.
My work building is a verizon void and I get virtually no signal. I get in at 7am. By the time I leave at 4 pm, I'm down to 15% battery. I do not use a task killer. I keep my screens to a minimum. The only thing that updates are facebook posts and beautiful widget which updates every 3 hours. I use the smart battery profile.
Don't you a task killer they kill your battery faster. This is not a windows phone, its based off of linix. applications don't stay running in the background, they hibernate so there not using a lot of resources. when you kill them there just going to restart all at the same time, which slows your phone down, and kills your battery. I was getting about 11 hours on one charge using a task killer, now using it more im getting at-least 14-15 hours. plus if you have your task killer set to high it will randomly reboot your phone, even when your using it....
I dropped my task killer and my battery life is now better. I've had my X off the charger for 6 hours and only recently got to 80%.
My battery life is amazing. I left for work around 6 am yesterday with 100%. Through out the day I talk for about 2 hours, used the internet for about 3 hours straight, listed to music for 1 hour, pandora for 1 hour, and navigation for almost an hour. My battery was at 20% at 11 pm.

I have noticed a huge improvement in battery after installing leaked froyo. No task killer here but I do have watchdog installed. Haven't had it activate yet though. No widgets on blur screens and running launcherpro. Love this phone with froyo. Would have returned it otherwise.

I get 38 hrs out of my oem and 48 hrs out of my extended battery. I do have Tranquilty rom on the phone with no blur at all.I keep my sync off and just manually sync for my emails and i have no widgets besides the wheather genie set to refresh every 6 hrs.Im on the cell alot too.So i am very pleased with my battery life .

Battery life is horrible..just horrible

after getting 2.1 update..my phones battery life has become more horrible.
when i am out clubbing, phone doesnt even last 8 hours.
most friends with Blackberries keep their 3G switched on always so they can use whatsapp or BBM
but for me..if i keep 3G on..the battery wont last for few hours..
how are you guys dealing with this problem?
i am thinkin of buying an extra battery and keeping it in my pocket when out.
or thinkin of upgrading to some other android phone with froyo
My phone is lasting 2 days now.. I did find a few things that were killing my battery though (Handscent bug on unread text messages, some self updating widgets I was using.. ).. suggest you try to suss out what's preventing the phone from sleeping and ditch the app, or replace with one that doesn't cause the problems...
(I've also rooted, enabled JIT, removed Timescape and a few of the other std apps too but don't really think that any of that made much difference to my battery)
Using custom rom (2.1 b005 ; i know old, but good ) with a task killer and extended controls (app) for de-/activating APNs
Also using setcpu set to poversave, max 512 and min the lowest

1% in 3-4 hours ..u mean standby time?
standby time is pretty decent by default anyway
but usage time is very very low.
Disable face recognition service. I get ~3-4 days of light usage now and can do a full day at heavy usage no problem.
i'm losing 3% an hour on standby and i have nothing running, how do you guys last 1-2 days?
that looks like you have such a lot of battery draining apps.
do this:
charge the phone all the night and in the morning turn it off.
instead of turning it on with the power button, press the MENU button and the power button both at the same time.
after you see the sony ericcson logo release the power button, keep the MENU button pressed until the phone boots up
now you are in safe mode
in this mode all your start-up apps won't boot, only the needed by the system.
Keep this way all day long and by the night check your battery indicator, if it is way too much diferent than before, blame your apps.
Also remove timescape, this will give you around 15% more of battery life.
btw: make a shorcut on the homescree of your whatsapp and everything you need to stay communicated, because they won't be on the apps drawer

Custom b006 is also great at battery life. I have 3g always enabled and connect a lot to wifi at home and my battery is at about 60% after a full day of usage.
Another tip, if you want to stick with original firmware, you could try data on demand. This enables mobile data connection only when screen is on and saves you a lot of battery.
Sent from custom AOSP 2.1 using XDA App
Battery life has been greatly improved in 2.1 so I would be checking what apps you've installed because it's more than likely due to one.
If you don't use/configure Timescape, it doesn't take battery life. No need to uninstall. I haven't, and I can get two days, with plenty of usage.
I've found, though, if you reboot the phone after giving it a full charge, it tends to work a lot better. Yesterday, after using the phone for a few hours at/after work, I was at 70%. Played Angry Birds for 30 minutes, brought it down to 60%, and it was 56% by bed time.
I don't know how you guys are getting 2 days or more... for me, I'm struggling to get through the 24 hour period !!
Between, I don't like to turn off the data or stop syncing this and that sort of things. Stopping these to save on the battery, must get a old Nokia phone which can last a week without a charge.
Give any real advice other than this if possible.
Did u check whether ur battery usage have high "cell standby" consumption? I know mine has bloody high 40%...believe this is one of the culprit...
Compared with wife's x10 mini...hers superb battery life easily 3 days normal use..with 0% cell standby...argh..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've said it before... Bad apps or bad widgets cause the battery to drain when on standby..
If you are getting substantial drain when your not using the phone then it's bad apps or bad widgets preventing your phone from sleeping.. when sleeping (even with wifi/ 2G/ 3G and syncing switched ON) you should be seeing between 1-3% per hour depending on how much you have syncing.
I've got FB syncing, auto sync on google sync (contacts, calendar), and googlemail push all on, all the time.
You need to work out what's at fault and find an alternative which doesn't cause the problems.
Also when you just updated your phone is doing all kind of stuff in the background. After a few days it is much better already, my phone last now for 2 days without any task killing application, but I did remove a lot of useless default crap using titanium backup application...

my x10 was stay for 2-2.5 days .
after using BB charger it stays 20 hours .
even when i back with the original charger it stays worse than before
I habe 3G always on and my Phone lasts 2-3 Days
Hmm without 3G / Data enabled I can use my phone for 3 to 5 days because I only use them when I needed it only. My friends have it enabled everytime and he gets about 1 days and a half in quite poor reception area, maybe other setting also affect battey life? because I think the x10 battery life is comparable to my previous nokia e52 with 1500 mAh battery in similar condition (3g / data and gps active only when needed).
Battery time on 2.1
Hello i'm a x10 owner and after the upgrade at 2.1 mi battery time is more than awful around 1,5 days on 1.6 i have the battery up to minimum 3 days, i use advanced tak killer on 1.6 i had es task killer (much better than advanced task) but on 2.1 if i select kill all it turnes of my signal and my sd card and if i select kill when scren off when i'm in a call and the scren goes of bye bye signal and convesation ( what to do??????????????????????????????
And a anoyng thing i have many aplications that run by themselfs like yahoo messenger & mail, youtube, gesture search, and 2or3 more the question is whyyy? I never touch them and they are running i think thats why my battery dies so quick please helppp, i was weryyyy happy with my battery time on 1.6 now i hate 2.1 (
its not recommended to use a task killer on 2.1 as it has better task management

Milestone 2 Battery Issues

My unit is currently running on Froyo 2.2. Full charge of battery only last for 7 hours approx. Plus my setting is less screen brightness , maximum battery saver profile (under battery mode) and using 2G(edge) to conserve power. Unfortunately it doesn't save much battery.

This was told to me by someone around here in the forum itself (it was in Droid 2 forum to be precise as back then we did not have a dedicated Milestone 2 forum). MotoBlur is a big battery hogger.
Once we can have a BLUR free ROM it will be much better. For people, it is lasting more than a day with overclocking.
Got mine 2 days ago and it really seems to be an issue. What if we remove all those Motoblur widget such as social network and weather, witch seems to keep transfering data all the time?
And what about installing Launch Pro? That will inative Motoblur, but it'll still be installed. Is that supposed to solve battery issue or not?

I have Launcher Pro installed and have a data and sms sim only in and the battery can last for 2 days easy.
Yesterday I used about 50% all day.
I am using my Milestone 1 as a phone only, no data turned on and it lasts ages without data (CM6)
Milestone 1 or [email protected]?
My Milestone 2 leasts between a half and two days, depending on my usage. Without 3G / UMTS on it leasts over one day (just 2G and / or wireless lan on). Even if I play Angry Birds or such in my spare time I have no problems to get through a whole day.
The biggest battery-killers are 3G and the auto-sync functionality, they can kill my MS2 within 10 - 12 hours.
Same here, overclocked to 1.25ghz @ 62VSEL, 3g /umts ON, I can make calls, play angry birds, read rss feeds, make a moderate amount of calls... I easily get more than a days use, though I routinely charge it every night for obvious reasons
note: I have stripped all of the motobloat social networking components, photo widgets, phone addons, help centre, weather 2.2, news 2.2, world clock 1.0, moto lounge, myspace, etc.
I really do believe the battery's more than sufficient for day to day use in these phones, as long as you don't load the phone up with junk such as facebook, myspace, etc.
Ok, remove all Widgets, set it to 2G... Doubt if it wouldn't be smarter to go back to my Nokia 6111 from 5 years ago.
Seriously, Motorola couldn't launch in the market a headset witch the battery can't last one day with factory default settings. Hardusers may find a way to solve the issue. Regular users have no choice but run to iPhone.
MS2 is the heaviest smartphone i have ever had. Thanks for its useful physical keyboard ( I didn't know how much text on touchscreen annoyed me ). And I still have to carry my charger on my pocket...
i've just installed juice defender. the phone runs since 2day and 20hours and has 60% battery left by now.

i use juice defender in agressive mode. i dont need an "always-on" data-connection. when i want to check mails or updates im getting the phone out of the standby mode and then do a check. after that, i turn the display off and juice defender also turns the data-connections off.
at least, the phone was continuously 5 days on until the battery became empty.
Juicy defender worked fine for me. Also, installing go launcher saves some energy during the day. It lasts my entire day (7am 18pm) without social widgets enabled but gtalk.
Another thing that I installed was overclock widget (rooted phone) and put it to downclock my phone when screen is turned off.
My M2 drains battery so fast, 60% left after 3 hours.
Already using juice defender, undervolting by milestone overclock and underclocking when screenoff using setcpu. But seems they don't help to extend the battery life
And the battery usage stat seems strange, mobile standby is using most power, instead of the display (juice defender switch off data when screen off already). I didn't put any social networking widget on my ADW EX.
Would having a factory reset and skip the login of motoblur help saving the battery?

The battery usage shows the app by the amount of time they runned, so if standby is at first it means that your phone stayed more time in standby than with the screen on.

oh thanks
so it is different from Milestone. I get use to the Milestone that the battery usage shows the % of battery used
I don't know about Milestone 1, but the default behavior for android is to show the % of time that an app has runned, so the battery use screen is more like a indication that an app is probably killing your battery, not the real deal.
There might be a part on ur motherboard thats draining too much juice. I had the same problem on my phone though the battery depletion wasn't as significant as yours. Check with ur dealer and claim it from ur warranty. Its apparently a common problem with the milestone range

Warning to those with battery drain on freex10

I was getting really fantastic battery life until today when I installed dolphin hd. I'm not sure why, but the moment I installed that, my battery could literally be watched dropping, even when it wasn't open. Once I got rid of it, my battery life then went right back to being great as it was before. The odd thing is, under battery usage, it wasn't showing up when it wasn't running, yet as it was the only change I made, and the sole factor in the change in battery life, I'm positive that's what it was. I'm curious how many people experiencing bad battery drain are using this browser.
i am using dolphin mini and dont think i have battery problem.
maybe you should try it.

Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I have all these and my battery life is fine, I don't think you get what I said at all. I think dolphin could be the cause of so many people having battery troubles, as once I installed it I started experiencing the same things they said, and then once I uninstalled it the problem was gone. I am back to about 1% an hour drop hen in standby, however with the dolphin installed (even when it wasn't running and I wasn't connected to wifi or 3g) I was dropping about 5-10% just in standby per hour.
Hmm.... might remove it and see if I can see a difference.. but my battery life isn't even horrible. A little worse than before maybe. But I'm getting a solid 10 hours at least.

freex10 severe Battery drain with latest X10i official SE update.
Running Beta 4 after factory SE updated yesterday on my X10i. I have severe battery drain. 89% after loading the freex10 beta4 with apps zip install and a TI restore of all my prior progs. Left the phone plugged in and charging overnight and this morning it was 4%. I am not using any special browsers. I am using Advanced Task Killer and killed all the programs before leaving the phone. Any ideas??
I really wish there was a way to dual boot with xrecovery.. that way we could use stock SE during the day because it has better battery life, and when we are near a charger we can use 2.2
I had the battery drain problem where I was losing 5 - 10% per hour after upgrading to beta 4. While I cannot prove it I think the drain is related to the baseband upgrade and how it interacts with 3g on AT&T. I can't turn off data as this is my work e-mail device. After some experimentation I found that switching to 2g "fixed" the problem. I took my phone off the charger 4 hours ago and with moderate e-mail use, 1 30 minute phone call and some XDA and web browsing I am at 91%. I added the 2g/3g to the power control widget and can quickly switch to 3g when I want/need the additional speed.
One other unintended benefit I found from 2G. For some reason my phone will not drop in certain areas where I drop calls every time I am on 3g.
Possibly due to wifi?
Ok guys so I re-did the OE factory SE update and re-did the xrecovery to redo freex10 beta4. all went well but I was to sleepy to setup the wifi. This morning my phone was fully charged and ready to go. I came into work and turned the wifi on to use on our network. Phones been on standby and wifi is set to be off with the display. Its only been 3 hours and my phone is at 10%. Why is wifi drawing so much power even when not in use?
So far I saw many causes in 2.2, check my list here
> Dolphin HD (from this OP? - unconfirmed)
> Stock Email get partial wakelock with exchange server.
> Dialer - partial wakelock (you might not feel it, but it is, compared to 2.1)
> Dialer - drainage when turn 'turn to silence' on (Call setting)
For Dolphin, well as I trusted in android system, I believe there might be something else 'between' dolphin and the battery, I don't think it's the dolphin itself. Since it doesn't report anywhere between spareparts or battery usage, or even CPU usage. I must admit that 2.1 is doing better in term of 'system stability' (not about hanging, crashing - but to handle when something go wrong)
I also must admit that using ATK in 2.2 is likely cause trouble, I used to have battery trouble and there was no way out before I turned to ATK. well, thing got 'weird' (it was not worse) If you feel something wrong, 3G trouble, some stupid force close, try disable ATK.
I never used ATK in the fresh install. Posibly the stock E-mail however I haven't set that up either. Its a shame as the rom is real good and appears stable other than the battery drain issue. I've already tried the Xrecovery wipe of battery stats, cache, etc with no luck. I may just stick with the factory SE rom till freex10 is no longer a beta..

I'm curious how many people experiencing bad battery drain are using this browser.

gotta give this a try
it's been driving me crazy wondering why my batter drains so fast
Worth a shot for sure! I get 24 hours easily with heavy usage... It's a lot better for me than beta 3 was
I use to have bad battery issues with this rom but then I install juice defender and it has done wonders for me. Task killers help but nothing like this app does.

I'm using beta 3 with constant 3g and dolphin hd. No problems. Batt drain is as usual with 2.1 original. I get about 1-1.5 days of usage, sometimes even 2.

I solved my battery drain problem

I was having a problem with fast battery drain on my SGS2. I would get 15 hours if lucky from a full charge with light - moderate use. My most recent charge looks like it has doubled the time.
What did I change? I did a factory reset and manually installed all my apps, NOT using titanium backup. I had used titanium backup to restore apps only, that were from my previous phone (Nexus1). I have never used titanium backup for system settings, only apps, but it seems even that is unreliable. I've now stopped using titanium backup completely.

Can anyone verify this...
Will it matter if it's i9100 to i9100, or just any other phone to i9100?
Well... Ive done several hard resets , because I though I had a network problem , and I many of those I didnt install titanium or even root the device and the battery life was the same.
Just one opinion..

+1 for this..

If you notice a higher battery drainage than normal then you have to see what application you've installed lately. If you can't find it then the only option is to do a Hard Reset. That has worked for me, IF your battery is drained by some app which you've installed lately.
Regards.
I am sure battery drain has to do with the apps we installed and the settings we use.
We are in a fortunate situation that my wife and I have both S II, hers is 2 days older from the same shop, so I assume both devices are from the same batch. Hence no hardware difference.
I installed a lot app and played with lots of settings and if my wife like it, she "demand" to install it on hers too, so hers is a more controlled env.
For some reason my battery drains a lot quicker than hers. I still have to find out which application / settings cause this.
For an experiment, we did not use both phones for a full day (very difficult), so all the drain is due to background processes.
There are several dips in the graph, but those are explicitly usage of the phone for a while. The big last drop on her battery was because she was playing a game for more than 3 hrs.
PS.
A collegue of mine (also an SII) had his battery run out quickly, until he found out his culprit: Settings->Location and security->Use wireless network was ON.
You can see the effect of this as the "almost horizontal bar" in my wife's battery when we turned it off.
thx for info man.
What would happen if i turn that off? I want to try this to preserve my batt life. Thanks!

PB_2003. You had to use one phone to make a shot of another phone? Just hold down the home key and press the power key. You will be able to take shots like the attached.
I have used TV to restore many times and battery life is fine. I'm would suggest that the issue is some app you are restoring rather than TB

I wonder if having 3rd party launchers like launcher pro drains the battery quicker. I installed launcher pro without ever having really tested the battery life of the phone with the standard launcher. Has anyone here tested the difference, if any, of the battery life of standard v market app launchers?

The screen shot on the left is your phone correct? It looks like something is waking your phone up and leaving it in an awake state for far too long. Your graph represents over a day's time and I see those huge chunks of time where your screen is off but your phone is awake; I'd say some program is what do they call it *wakelock* every now and then.

By the looks of it, the screen was on the entire time (which seems impossible?).

it's not just the apps that was just installed. It should include apps that are updated. I had this issue on SGS I when beautiful widget was having issues with updates causing the phone to use more battery power than usual
Morel likely to be a bad app, or a bad app setting causing the app not to close properly then drain power than the mere fact you restored it via titanium.
anyone one trying while sleeping, off your packet data ?
for me i tested,
2350 @100% to 0700 @ 99% (during packet data off)
If on, it will left 70% ++ in the next morning..
why is that so?
This is my battery drain using Litening ROM 1.5
I usually make and receive 30min phone call a day, push email on 2 accounts, wi-fi at work, data always on.

Turning off data packet doesn't allow any application going on line (unless you have your wifi on) and cannot download e-mails, synchronize anything, etc..
This saves your battery a lot.

Yes, that is also what I suspect. It is just to find out what which application / settings this cause.
I found out that I have 4 apps has an "sync" account, I delete all of them (except gmail), now I got a lot better performance (1 day: still 75%).
I'll post later my picture

Of course the updates are included. There should be an app/good optimized app which will allow us to close the apps and thus Auto Sync and Background Data to off when we are not using them, especially at bed time. The in built task manager's RAM Clearance function is crap and frankly I haven't found an app which will optimize the RAM without force losing the apps/widgets. Tried 'Gemini App' but I doubt! This 'Sync' stuff is the main responsible part of high battery drain.
